Storm Stacey launched to the top of the Bennetts British Superbike Championship Free Practice times at Knockhill as the Bathams AJN Racing BMW rider held off McAMS Racing Yamaha’s Danny Kent by 0.100s, with the top 15 riders covered by just 0.598s.

Stacey had been the target for his rivals in both sessions, mastering the wet conditions with both his and Kent’s time from the opening Free Practice enough to keep them in the leading two positions at the chequered flag.

Meanwhile Josh Brookes was third for DAO Racing Honda and the double champion overcame a crash in the morning session to climb up the order in the afternoon, putting him just 0.062s adrift, with Bradley Ray and Christian Iddon completing a top five that featured four different manufacturers.

Lee Jackson moved into sixth place in the closing stages ahead of Cheshire Mouldings Ducati’s Rory Skinner, who sat out the second session and watched from the pit box and Tommy Bridewell for Honda Racing UK.
