O’Gorman keeps his grip on the top in testingThe Silverstone test is over and there’s a familiar name at the top – but some very tight groups on the timesheets.

The Honda British Talent Cup were back on track on Friday at Silverstone, with a one-day test at the venue getting everyone in gear for the season ahead. That now starts in a few weeks, and it’s Casey O’Gorman (Microlise Cresswell Racing) who remains in control of the timesheets before we turn a wheel in a race weekend.

The number 72 made it another sizeable advantage at the top, but the timesheets showed some incredibly competitive groups throughout the field. Second quickest was another show of pace from Charlie Farrer (Victoria House Academy/Mortimer Racing) as he ended the day four tenths off the top, with Eddie O’Shea (Davies Motorsport) just another infinitesimal 0.002 in arrears. Corey Tinker (GR Motosport Brent Gladwin) was fourth, a place higher than Jerez, with Bailey Stuart Campbell (151S S-C Racing) moving up in the shuffle to complete the top five. They were split by just 0.018, with Evan Belford (Fab Racing) within a tenth in P6.

Harvey Claridge (Nova/SP125 Racing) leaves the Silverstone test having taken seventh, before a slightly bigger gap back to James Cook (Wilson Racing) as he headed up a huge group of riders all split by gaps of a tenth or less. Harrison Crosby (Banks Racing) and Ryan Hitchcock (Rdh Racing) were the next two riders in it as they completed the top ten.

In addition to track time, the riders got chance to try out two race starts. With many not yet counting on too much racing experience on Moto3â„¢ machinery, that was a valuable exercise to take from the day as well. Now it’s time to reset for the lights going out for real, with the season opener set for Donington Park from the 7th to the 9th of August. The countdown is well and truly on.
