£98,900 live auction world record Honda NSR500VF at Iconic Auctioneers sale this weekend with 83% sold and a £1m total hammer.
Iconic Auctioneers are delighted to report a very strong Motorcycle sale at the NEC Classic Motor Show this weekend. With almost 3000 registered bidders for the two-day of auction of cars and motorcycles, a truly global audience participated in the sale, with online bidders joining from the USA, Australia, Hong Kong and continental Europe. The Motorcycle Sale bucked current market trends and achieved a sale total of £1million with a sell through rate of 83%.
Mark Bryan, Motorcycle Manager said “This Sale goes to show that motorcycle sales are very much alive, despite recent market trends our Motorcycle department continues to go from strength to strength, we have sold nearly £4 million of motorcycles this year in our 4 bike auctions and are now looking ahead to 2025 with our first sale of the season at the MCN London Motorcycle Show on 16th February at London Excel. We are seeing a rising demand for more modern classics with many Japanese models, such as this Honda NSR, reaching higher than expected prices. Saying that though, we are still selling the more traditional British classics as the market has become a good buyers’ market as the prices have softened to affordable levels. See you in London.”
1997 HONDA NSR500VF 499CC
This is a well-known bike that has featured in various newspapers in period as ‘Club racer buys GP machine’ and this sale provided a superb opportunity to own one of the last classic two-stroke GP racers from the 1990s. This example was purchased from Padgett’s in Batley new in 1997 and raced in selected club events throughout 1997 to 1999. Both rider and motorcycle retired at the end of the 1999 season and the bike has been displayed behind the bar at his home ever since.
Something completely different and at the other end of the bike spectrum was LOT 522 the rare WWII Paratroppers mini bike. This tough little two-stroke Welbike made by Excelsior motorcycles, for the SOE (Special Operations Executive), as a one-time use, disposable machine, helped to carry British Paratroopers into battle at Arnhem among other WWII engagements. The Welbike reached its top estimate and as the only one known to have been sold at auction, it set its own new live auction world record!
Mark Bryan, Head of Motorcycles at Iconic Auctioneers, says “This bike was particularly rare as it is completely unrestored and just as it was 70 years ago, when prepared for action in the European theatre of war. These bikes proved to be of limited use, if they landed safely by a road or track alongside the troops who jumped with them, then they could be quite useful, but more often than not they were dropped off road in farmland where they were not very effective.”
2008 Ducati Desmosedici RR 989cc – Unregistered and unused. Sold for: £66,700
Described by Ducati as ‘The Worlds first MotoGP Replica’ when launched in 2008, these bikes were based on the Ducati Team GP6 and capable of 185mph. Their production was limited to only 1,500 examples worldwide and this unused and unregistered example was #1,474 of the 1,500 built. They are highly collectable and this was one of only a handful of new/old stock examples available worldwide, so it’s no surprise it sold so strongly. The question is will the new owner use it or just admire it?
1950 Triumph 6T Thunderbird 649cc pre-Bonneville 650 twin sports bike.
Sold for £8,050
Made famous with Marlon Brando riding one in The Wild Ones the Thunderbird was launched in 1949 and followed on from the popular 500 Speed Twin. Fitted with a bigger 650cc engine and very much aimed at the US-market. This older restored pre-unit example was presented in good overall condition, guided at £4,000 – £6,000 it sold well above its top estimate and just goes to show that the demand is still there for traditional British motorcycles.1982 Laverda Jota 180 981cc. Sold for £12,075
This desirable matching numbers 180 Series II Jota was presented in fabulous original condition having been with the same owner for the last 24 years and in good running order. UK-registered from new and showing just 22,000 recorded miles it sold for its mid estimate.
All the results from the 153 motorcycles that were offered at the NEC Classic Motor Show sale can be seen on their website and Iconic Auctioneers are now inviting entries for their next auction at the MCN London Motorcycle Show, in February 2025. Entries close at the end of January so now is the time to contact the auction house if you are interested in selling. Three distinct ride modes — Tour, Standard, or Sport — and rear cylinder deactivation further enhance the riding experience by delivering modern performance and function without compromising timeless style.
Unmatched Comfort
The ultimate in style and exclusivity, the Indian Springfield Special Edition comes fully equipped from the factory with storage, amenities, and passenger comfort. A quick release windshield better manages airflow to reduce rider fatigue but detaches in seconds to further highlight the bike’s clean and iconic look. Color-matched remote locking hard saddlebags complete the overall heritage design and provide secure storage around town or for quick getaways. Passenger comfort is a priority with a comfortable seat and a quick release passenger sissy bar that all come standard. To further enhance the luxuriously comfortable ride, both rider and passenger floorboards are adjustable, and chrome highway bars provide even more comfort options on longer trips. Completing the package, a long list of rider-centric technology like keyless ignition, cruise control and USB charging mean no compromises to modern function in this exclusive and timeless design.
**The Indian Springfield will continue to be available in North America and APAC region.

White Motorcycle Concepts and Zero Motorcycles reveal “Intelligent Aero” technology concept to improve electric motorcycle range.
White Motorcycle Concepts (WMC), the company behind the British electric motorcycle land-speed world-record programme, has collaborated with Zero Motorcycles to prototype the world’s first electric sports bike to incorporate WMC’s patented intelligent aerodynamic duct producing a 10% reduction in aerodynamic drag.
The re-engineered Zero SR/S concept incorporates a bespoke bifurcated aerodynamic duct running directly through the centre of the motorcycle, channelling air from behind the front wheel and exiting above the rear wheel. To enhance the airflow through the patented duct, the team has also designed a new aerodynamic front fender and fork shroud package, ensuring maximum airflow through the system.
The two companies first connected at the Italian Motorcycle Show (EICMA) in November 2023, where WMC and Zero shared a vision, focused on advancing efficient innovation, improving range performance to meet customer expectations for EV motorcycles. The designed architecture of the Zero SR/S makes it ideal to integrate an aerodynamic duct.
The two organizations have been working on an accelerated development programme to deliver this proof of concept. Following processes and procedures learnt whilst working in F1 and worlds sports car programmes, and honed on similar projects, the WMC in-house engineering teams have rapidly developed the concept; using a range of validated in-house modelling and computer fluid dynamics simulation techniques, prototyping and validation, using aero rakes commonly used in high level motorsport, and finally engineering for, and delivering, full assembly, enabling real world testing.
“The whole industry is currently facing a huge technical/commercial challenge to produce an electric motorcycle with performance close to its petrol equivalent.” said Robert White, Founder & CEO, White Motorcycle Concepts. “This problem space will not be solved by battery technology alone, it requires a blend of innovations to bridge the gap now and provide efficiency benefits in the future.
When I first saw the Zero SR/S frame and battery architecture, I immediately recognized the opportunity to retrofit a duct. I’m proud of what we’ve achieved, though the duct is limited by existing packaging constraints. It would offer even greater performance if integrated from the start of a motorcycle’s design.
Aerodynamics is a hot topic, especially in MotoGP, where winglets and other devices improve lap times, though this efficiency benefit does not always translate to retail bikes. Our intelligent aero duct enhances aerodynamic efficiency, positively impacting upon power consumption, especially at high speeds.”
The result, the new WMCSRS concept, presents the world’s first demonstration of our patented duct within a mid-sized sports bike and has been developed using all of White Motorcycle Concepts knowledge gained from their previous applications of their patented duct.
Within this application the design team have created a vertically bifurcated duct that picks the air up behind the front wheel and navigates the existing ZERO SR/S architecture and exits the bike just under the seat. Through the baseline testing phase the engineering team used F1 style aero rakes in front and behind the front wheel and in front of the rear wheel to gain a deep understanding of the air flow. This work identified the impact of the upstream architecture on the performance of the duct and so bespoke front fenders and fork shrouds have been created to enhance the overall performance.
The concept behind this central air duct has been honed as part of the White Motorcycle Concept’s land-speed record programme, and in the WMCSRS development the optimised dual-channel design, and upstream architecture, delivers a 10% increase in aerodynamic efficiency, equating to increased range at highway speeds.
The aerodynamic efficiency gain can be used to extend range or lower costs, reducing the need for a larger battery, which in turn cuts down on weight, charge time, and battery expenses. The duct is affordable to integrate and manufacture, with its range benefits remaining consistent over time. It enables increased top speed (max), top speed sustained and acceleration with a very low risk of component failure, and its advantages increase with higher-speed riding, unlike batteries, which tend to lose efficiency under such conditions.
“From our initial meeting at EICMA we have been interested to understand the potential impact of WMC’s aerodynamic duct” said Abe Askenazi, Zero Motorcycles CTO. “We are committed to innovation and, while battery development is advancing rapidly, we believe a combination of technologies is the key to developing the electric motorcycles of the future. This proof of concept has given us valuable insights into the potential benefits of integrating an aerodynamic duct into electric motorcycles, and we will continue to explore complementary technological advancements to deliver market-leading products for our customers.”
Following the lead of the car market exploration of all aspects of efficiency to extend range, the new generation of electric and hybrid cars are 30% more efficient than cars produced just 5 years ago. The motorcycle industry can look beyond the limitations of current battery technology and embrace complimentary and consistent solutions to transition to net zero. In respect to WMC’s patented duct, the benefit that can be gained will increase over time: as motorcycles will have to remain the same size to respect the rider, but as battery energy density increases this opens up greater volumes for a larger duct. Creating a virtuous circle of benefit, larger duct, less batteries, more volume, larger duct.
The project is a great demonstration of what is possible when two innovative companies work together to address one of the motorcycle industry’s greatest challenges.
The new WMCSRS concept will make its public debut at Motorcycle Live 16-24th November 2024 and can be found on the Zero Motorcycle Stand 4A15, at the National Exhibition Centre Birmingham, UK (https://www.motorcyclelive.co.uk/).
Drive chains are among the motorcycle components subject to the highest stress. Proper maintenance can extend the service life considerably. At the EICMA motorcycle fair in Milan, LIQUI MOLY presents a product that was primarily developed for motocross machines and dirt bikes: the Motorbike Offroad Chain Spray.
A carefully maintained motorcycle chain lasts many thousands of kilometers; poorly maintained chains last considerably less. Regular maintenance of the chain can maximize its service life. With the Motorbike Offroad Chain Spray, lubricant specialist LIQUI MOLY presents a product for chain care of motocross machines and dirt bikes at the leading international two-wheeler trade fair EICMA. “Where it’s wet, muddy and dusty, our new product shows its strengths,” says David Kaiser, Head of Research & Development at LIQUI MOLY. Even under adverse conditions, the off-road product prevents corrosion because its immense creeping properties allow it to reach all areas where a stable lubricating film is required. “At the same time, it is not too sticky, so dust and dirt only slightly adhere to the drive chain. This in turn counteracts wear, because dust and dirt act like sandpaper over time,” explains David Kaiser.
The spray head makes it possible to apply the product over a wide area and also allows finely dosed, precise application when the long, narrow nozzle is folded up. The chain spray is recognizable by its green color, which also appears on the can label.
If you mainly drive your motorcycle or offroad machine on the road, you should opt for one of the LIQUI MOLY chain sprays intended for a wider range of applications. These are a very good compromise if the vehicle is only occasionally driven off-road.
Another piece of advice from the expert for a regular dose of lubricant: “It is better to apply frequently and sparingly than occasionally and thickly. This is because excess lubricant attracts dirt more intensively and sticks to the chain and sprocket case.”

The iconic red, white, and blue colour scheme which incorporates America’s stars and stripes, adorns the stunning chrome fuel tank, and continues on to the front mudguard, where it has been incorporated into a new EK graphic, while elegant gold signature graphics embellish the radiator cowls.
The exclusive colour scheme, with Pure White accents, and contrasting Matt Sapphire Black panels on the flyscreen, headlight bowl, mudguards, side panels, and rear bodywork, highlights the bike’s powerful presence. The premium leather seat features a gold-embroidered Evel Knievel signature and inset brushed aluminium Triumph badge, while a custom Knievel-branded start-up screen animation provides a bespoke welcome every time the 2,500cc triple fires up.
Every owner will also receive an exclusive, collector’s edition hardback book, specially commissioned by Triumph, telling the remarkable story of Evel Knievel and his iconic connection with the brand. Written by renowned author and Knievel expert Stuart Barker, each book will be individually numbered to match the bike and signed by Triumph CEO Nick Bloor – a prized collectable in its own right for any fan of Triumph and Knievel.
ULTIMATE PERFORMANCE AND UNMATCHED PRESENCE
Riders can choose between the Limited Edition Rocket 3 R, with its bold muscle-roadster stance providing optimum power and control, or the Rocket 3 GT, which adds a more relaxed riding position and generous pillion accommodation.
Both are powered by the world’s largest production motorcycle engine and this raw power translates into exhilarating acceleration and an unforgettable ride experience. The distinctive triple-exit silencers further enhance the presence of both motorcycles, producing a deep, resonant exhaust note that complements its muscular performance and amplifies its commanding road presence.
PHENOMENAL HANDLING
Harnessing the Rocket’s impressive performance to deliver a controlled and compliant ride are large 47mm diameter Showa forks, adjustable for rebound and compression damping. At the rear is a Showa monoshock RSU with piggy-back reservoir, fully adjustable for preload, rebound and compression damping.
Exceptional stopping power is provided by top-specification radial Brembo Stylema brake calipers with twin 320mm discs. These lightweight, compact, and high performing calipers offer great airflow for pad cooling during spirited riding. The Brembo M4.32 four-piston radial monobloc rear caliper and 300mm rear disc is bigger and more powerful than the front brake setup on many bikes, helping to provide massive stopping power. The Rocket 3 R and GT Evel Knievel Limited Editions retain full Optimised Cornering ABS functionality.
DISTINCT ERGONOMICS
Each Rocket offers a distinct feel and personality, due to key differences in their ergonomics. The Rocket R’s roadster rider position and handlebar placement is designed to create a purposeful and engaging ride. The GT has a slightly more swept back set-up with a 125mm difference in grip position versus the R, for a more upright riding position.
Each model also gets its own dedicated seating set-up. The Rocket 3 R has a roadster rider and pillion seat with a 773mm seat height, offering comfort, low-speed confidence and manoeuvrability. Designed for enhanced comfort on longer rides, the Rocket 3 GT Evel Knievel Limited Edition offers greater touring comfort with more generously padded leather rider and pillion seats, with matching leather pillion backrest, ensuring both comfort and style for the passenger. The seat height for the GT is just 750mm, further improving rider confidence.
The biggest difference between the two models is the footpeg positions. The R has mid-foot controls, with two settings that offer 15mm of vertical adjustment, to cater for every size of rider, delivering a natural and sporty riding position. The GT has feet forward foot controls giving a more laid-back cruiser feel, with three horizontal position settings offering 50mm of adjustment, to provide the most comfortable position for long rides. Both R and GT models have innovative, neat, retractable pillion footrests.
Amplifying the bikes’ aggressive stance and attitude, both Rocket 3 Limited Editions have twin LED headlights with the Triumph maker’s mark triangle and signature shaped daytime running lights (DRL)*. There are LED indicators, rear light and number plate light, delivering a really distinctive light signature maintaining the Rocket 3’s strong road presence even at night.
GENEROUSLY EQUIPPED
Intuitive rider-focused technology allows riders to confidently exploit the Rocket 3 R and GT epic performance potential.
Ride-by-wire enhances rideability, safety and control, while the Rocket’s high-performance gearbox is engineered with helical cut gears to transmit the huge torque to the rear wheel smoothly. The Torque Assist clutch helps riders shift up and down the six-speed box with satisfying speed and smoothness, while a Triumph Shift Assist quickshifter is available as an accessory fit for both models.
Both models feature optimised cornering ABS and traction control for enhanced stability, improving both straight line and cornering, acceleration and braking. Hill Hold prevents the bike rolling backwards and applies the rear brake until sensing the rider is starting to move off. Both come equipped with four riding modes, road, rain, sport and rider-configurable, which adjusts the throttle map and traction control settings.
The electronic cruise control system is fitted as standard as well. Activated by a single press of the button, the speed can be set and adjusted up or down in 1mph increments, as well as be resumed with just one touch.
Both models feature a high functionality full colour TFT set-up with a five-way back-lit joystick. This has a minimal stylish design with two information layout design themes, and the adjustable instrument angle set-up provides optimum visibility for every height of rider. The rider can even personalise the start-up screen message with their name.
Adding extra security, both bikes have standard fit keyless ignition and steering lock, which can be disabled. The key fob can also be turned off to prolong battery life and increase security. Plus, there’s a USB charging socket in a dedicated compartment under the seat, where devices can be kept safe and dry while charging.
LIMITED EDITION WITH EXTRA PERSONALISATION
With over 50 Genuine Triumph Accessories to add comfort, practicality, style and security, riders can customise their Limited Edition Rocket to make it truly bespoke. Owners can choose from interchangeable R and GT foot controls, rider and pillion seats for tailored ergonomics, plug and play technology for greater convenience, styling parts to customise the look and luggage solutions for longer rides.
ON THE ROAD
Arriving in dealerships from March 2025, the new Rocket 3 R Evel Knievel Limited Edition will be available from £25,495 OTR, while the Rocket 3 GT Evel Knievel Limited Edition will be £26,195 OTR. Customers can place an order or find out more at triumphmotorcycles.co.uk.

THE MAKING OF A LEGEND – EVEL KNIEVEL
Robert Craig “Evel” Knievel (October 17, 1938 – November 30, 2007) was an iconic American motorcycle stunt performer and showman, performing ramp-to-ramp motorcycle jumps during a career that took him from rural county fairs to sold-out stadiums.
To many generations of fans, he was more than just a stuntman—he was a symbol of daring and adventure, and Triumph motorcycles played a pivotal role in his rise to fame. Knievel performed some of his most iconic jumps on a Triumph Bonneville, including his first televised stunt and the infamous 1967 Caesar’s Palace fountain jump, which cemented his global fame. During 1967 and 1968, Knievel exclusively rode Triumphs, recognizing their superior handling and reliability for his dangerous feats.
Evel’s iconic name supposedly came about after a police chase in 1956 in which he crashed his motorcycle. Taken to jail on a charge of reckless driving he was placed in a cell next to one William Knoffel. Knoffel was well known as ‘Awful Knoffel’ (rhyming ‘awful’ with ‘Knoffel’), and at roll call the guard referred to Knievel as ‘Evil Knievel’. Evel adopted the tag and chose the misspelling to match his last name… and because he didn’t want to be considered ‘evil!’
Performing more than 175 jumps during a career that took him from rural county fairs to sold-out stadiums, Knievel went toe-to-toe with danger and lived to tell the tale. He is recognised by Guinness World Records as having broken or re-broken more bones than any person in history, with the total listed at 433 (although this is likely exaggerated), and he would spend years of his life in hospital. But despite failed jumps, crashes, and multiple broken bones, he always rose to perform again.
Evel Knievel has left a remarkable legacy behind him. He inspired an entire generation of kids to jump their pushbikes over ramps and, later, to progress onto motorcycles. In fact, most of today’s top stunt performers and extreme sports athletes credit Evel Knievel as an inspiration.
In every kid who pops a wheelie on their pushbike, in every motorcyclist who guns the throttle, the spirit of Evel Knievel lives on.
EVEL KNIEVEL AND TRIUMPH
In 1967, Knievel finally received national exposure with his first appearance on ABC’s ‘Wide World of Sports’ jumping a 650cc Bonneville T120 over 15 cars at Ascot Park Speedway in Gardena, California.
During 1967 and 1968 Evel Knievel exclusively rode Triumphs, provided by Johnson Motors in Los Angeles. He made at least 15 jumps all over America first over cars and then on to the longest attempt of his entire career – 141 feet over the Caesar’s Palace fountains in Las Vegas.
In 1978, Knievel opted to ride a Triumph again for what would prove to be his final public appearances, this time on a 750cc Bonneville T140. By that point, Knievel was too badly injured to make jumps, so instead he would perform wheelies and act as master of ceremonies, while other stuntmen and women provided the thrills and spills. His final public performance was in Puerto Rico in March of 1980, meaning Evel Knievel saw out his career on a Triumph – the same manufacturer with whom he had originally made his name.
ASCOT PARK SPEEDWAY – FIRST TV PERFORMANCE
Evel Knievel got his first breakthrough when ABC’s ‘Wide World of Sports’ agreed to film him jumping over 15 cars at Ascot Park Speedway in Gardena, Southern California.
The jump marked the first time Knievel had ever appeared on national television, with the footage airing two weeks after the jump. On March 25, 1967, American TV audiences got to see Evel Knievel jumping his Triumph Bonneville for the very first time.
The Ascot jump predated Evel’s now iconic white jumpsuit and cape. Instead, he wore yellow and black leathers, but he would return to Ascot a few months later to jump 16 cars – this time sporting a white jump suit for the first time.
COLOR ME LUCKY
Eight months on from Gardena, Evel Knievel shot to worldwide fame overnight after attempting to leap over the fountains at Caesar’s Palace in Las Vegas on a Triumph Bonneville T120 called ‘Color me Lucky’.
Ahead of the New Year’s Eve festivities, thousands gathered outside the casino on December 31, 1967, to watch the attempt. After soaring 141 feet over the fountains, Knievel lost control of his Bonneville on landing and crashed spectacularly, horrifying the spectators.
Knievel suffered a concussion, multiple broken ribs, a broken left hip, a crushed pelvis, a broken jaw, and a broken nose. “I was hurt real bad,” he said. After spending 29 days in a coma, Knievel woke to discover that he was internationally famous, and that his life would never be the same again.
ROCKET MAN: THE SNAKE RIVER CANYON JUMP
Of all the outrageous stunts Evel Knievel performed, the most spectacular was his attempt to leap over the 500m (more than a quarter-mile) wide Snake River Canyon in Idaho, using a steam-powered rocket he dubbed the X-2.
But long before the X-2 was built, Evel had planned to make the jump on a heavily modified Triumph Bonneville T120 he referred to as the ‘Skycycle’. The original idea had been to jump over the Grand Canyon, and a mocked-up Triumph was shown at events to drum up publicity for the jump. The dummy Bonneville was fitted with four-foot delta wings, a seatbelt, a parachute, and two jet booster engines.
Permission for the Grand Canyon stunt was refused by the National Park Service. So, after flying over it one day, Knievel switched his attention to the narrower, but still imposing, Snake River Canyon instead. Even so, it became apparent that it would take a different kind of vehicle than a conventional motorcycle to make such a huge jump. Never one to give up, Knievel adapted his plans and, along with US-Navy rocket engineer Bob Truax, developed a super-heated, steam-powered rocket – Knievel dubbed it the Skycycle X-2.
On September 8, 1974, after months of hyperbole, Knievel pressed the launch button and shot up a ramp, set at a 56-degree angle, hoping to reach a maximum speed of 394mph five seconds into the flight, before both he and his Skycycle X-2 drifted down to safety on the other side of the canyon with the use of parachutes. It was one of the most spectacular, and dangerous, stunts ever attempted… but, ultimately, it failed. The rocket’s drogue parachute deployed on take-off, causing Knievel and the Skycycle to lose control. The world watched on in horror as Knievel disappeared into the canyon, not knowing if he was alive or dead.
Miraculously, he crash-landed against a rocky outcrop a few feet from the river in which he would surely have drowned, surviving the crash relatively unhurt, and was picked up by a rescue team.
The Snake River Canyon stunt proved to be a major catalyst of Evel Knievel’s remarkable career. Although he would complete many more successful jumps, he would never again attempt anything so outlandish, nor on such a massive scale. But, by then, his legacy was well and truly established and just like James Dean, Steve McQueen and Marlon Brando before him – he had helped thrust motorcycling into the heart of popular culture worldwide.
In 2024, as part of the celebrations marking the 50th anniversary of the Snake River Canyon attempt, Evel’s son Kelly and stunt legend Robbie Madison led the anniversary parade through Twin Falls, Idaho on two special tribute machines, a Bonneville T120 and a Rocket 3 painted in a one-off scheme inspired by Evel’s original ‘Color me Lucky’ Caesar’s Palace Triumph.
Martin walks the tightrope towards glory, Bagnaia goes all-in: #TheRematch reaches its conclusion in Catalonia.
And so it all comes down to this. After 19 Grands Prix across the world, the paddock returns to the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya for the Motul Solidarity Grand Prix of Barcelona – an event with a purpose beyond the pure sporting, and one where the highest sporting accolade in MotoGP™ will be on the table. By the end of play on Sunday, we know we will have a World Champion, and it could even be before. We also know it will be Jorge Martin (Prima Pramac Racing) or Francesco Bagnaia (Ducati Lenovo Team) lifting the crown. But which? That remains to be decided as #TheRematch reaches its conclusion.
THE CONTENDERS
Betting against Martin – with his 24-point advantage and impressive pace throughout the calendar and the conditions – is a longer shot. The #89 has seldom put a foot wrong in the past few weeks and looks like a different bet than this time last year. All the tiny details add up to a picture of a rider on the verge of sealing the deal. But his pace at the earlier Catalan GP wasn’t on a par with his key rival, Bagnaia, and nothing is truly over until it’s over. Millimetres separate glory from gravel in MotoGP™ and that line is even harder to walk when the moment truly has arrived.
For Bagnaia, meanwhile, the tightrope is purely on track. There’s no mental maths to do and no question about what he has to put on the table. It’s a binary choice: all-in or lose by default. And in those situations, something seems to unlock within the reigning Champion. “I must, therefore I shall”. Even in the Sprint in Sepang, the must was not winning, the must was taking the risk. So he did. Then, it didn’t pay off. On a different Saturday and at a different venue, maybe it will. With different pace from the rivals around them, maybe it will. With the tightrope for the rider he’s chasing now giving Martin a direct eyeline to the trophy, maybe it will.
“It’s complicated”
There are two usual suspects that Martin and Bagnaia will be eyeing this weekend. In the purple corner, Martin will be hoping both Marc Marquez (Gresini Racing MotoGP™) and Enea Bastianini (Ducati Lenovo Team) are unable to keep tabs on the title-contending duo. A repeat of Malaysia. Bastianini finished the race a little off the win and Marquez also admitted that he simply didn’t have the pace to get involved in the spellbinding battle. And then the #93 crashed, too.
Having Marquez and Bastianini out of the equation in both the Sprint and race is the dream scenario for Martin. Conversely, that would be a nightmare for Bagnaia. “I need Enea,” was the fact of it, confirmed by Pecco in the post-race Press Conference in Malaysia. Not for team orders, simply to take points away from Martin. The #1 could also do with Marquez doing the same. But unlike Bastianini, a fast and firing #93 could also work against Pecco. This dynamic between the Catalan GP top four from May will be a fascinating watch on Friday afternoon and in qualifying before we even get to showtime…
THE SHOWDOWN FOR FIFTH
There may be far more protagonists to contend with too. Pedro Acosta (Red Bull GASGAS Tech3) was a Sprint podium finisher in Barcelona and the rookie will be ravenous for a podium return before the year is out. Plus, there’s a good inter-manufacturer fight for P5 between the Spaniard and Brad Binder (Red Bull KTM Factory Racing). It’s 209 points vs 206 in favour of Acosta, so the South African – who hasn’t stood on a Sunday rostrum since Qatar – will be hunting podium form after a tough end to his Malaysian GP.
There’s another rider in the P5 picture too. Although it’s an outside chance, Maverick Viñales’ last weekend as an Aprilia Racing could see Top Gun end the year with the ‘best of the rest’ accolade before he switches his allegiances to the machines he’s hoping to beat this weekend. 20 points split Acosta, Binder and Viñales, so that’s a secondary scrap to keep our eyes on.
LOYALTIES TO THE TEST
Elsewhere, Alex Marquez (Gresini Racing MotoGP™) will be aiming to back up his strong Sepang outing with a solid end-of-season ride on home turf. Fellow GP23 rider, Marco Bezzecchi (Pertamina Enduro VR46 Racing Team), didn’t enjoy the same success in Sepang and will be hoping his final race under the VR46 and Ducati umbrella springs greater results. Time will tell. And we know that trusted Ducati Test Rider, Michele Pirro, will take over Fabio Di Giannantonio’s reigns for the final round of the season, which can cause a little Q2 stress for the rest on occasion.
You can throw in Franco Morbidelli as a serious threat too. Prima Pramac Racing could be seeking aid from the Italian if Martin ends up needing it, but can Morbidelli – who was running P4 before crashing in Sepang – bring himself into the reckoning? And where will the VR46 Academy members’ loyalties lie if a situation arises? Another element to keep tabs on…
CHAPEAU!
meanwhile, keeping tabs on the front was the name of the Monster Energy Yamaha MotoGP™ game in Malaysia. Fabio Quartararo’s Sprint P5 and Sunday P6 were both season PBs, and they weren’t delivered by luck. In fact, bad luck – with the Frenchman caught in that early crash on Sunday – almost worked against them. Alex Rins also carved out his best race result of the year with a P8, so can the Iwata factory back it up with more success in the curtain closer? It’s been a track where they’ve seen lots of speed and success before.
SWAN SONGS
One rider who will be seeking a repeat performance from earlier in the year is the rider sat on the other side of the box to Viñales – Aleix Espargaro. The Catalan GP Sprint King is set for his final race as a full-time MotoGP™ rider, and although noteworthy results have been hard to find in recent weeks, Espargaro loves the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya. And, as we know, if Espargaro is in a position to do so, the #41 will likely be out to lend his close friend Martin a hand where possible…
The Catalan GP was Raul Fernandez’s (Trackhouse Racing MotoGP™) standout weekend of 2024 too. Leading the Sprint and collecting a P6 would go down nicely once more for the Spaniard on a track that traditionally suits the RS-GP, after it’s been a tougher run of late. Fernandez and Trackhouse will also welcome back Miguel Oliveira after the Portuguese star missed the last five rounds through injury. Can the #88 enjoy his final time back on the Aprilia before a new adventure awaits?
Jack Miller (Red Bull KTM Factory Racing) will be keen to put his Malaysian GP crash behind him on his farewell weekend with KTM, while the Australian’s Pierer Mobility Group stablemate, Augusto Fernandez (Red Bull GASGAS Tech3), sets his sights on another positive weekend before a new adventure awaits the 2022 Moto2™ World Champion.
In the HRC camp, Johann Zarco (CASTROL Honda LCR) held the torch in Malaysia as the Frenchman impressed again, but P11 isn’t what he – nor Honda – come racing for. Can he and the Repsol Hondas of Joan Mir and Luca Marini grind out improvements? They have steadily been doing that throughout the season. And how will Takaaki Nakagami (IDEMITSU Honda LCR) fare as the Japanese star bows out of full-time MotoGP™ racing? It will be a swansong for him too, and likely an emotional one.
For many it’s the end of an era. For others it’s chance to sign off on a high and get locked into a new challenge – with the test on Tuesday seeing so many changes. For the 2024 Championship, it’s one final weekend that will decide the destination of the crown and maybe the #1 plate too. Because Martin is another moving to pastures new.
Before all that, it’s 24 points, two riders… and 37 on the line. Tune in as the most exciting sport on earth goes #RacingForValencia and puts on one final show of the season!
With Ai Ogura (MT Helmets – MSI) wrapping up the Championship title in Thailand and Aron Canet (Fantic Racing) securing the runners-up spot in Malaysia, the attention turns to who will finish P3 in 2024 as Moto2™ go racing for the final time this season.
Leading the P3 chase heading into the curtain closer is Sergio Garcia (MT Helmets – MSI). The Spaniard claimed P2 behind Ogura at the Catalan GP, so can the #3 collect the points needed to fend off the chasers?
With Fermin Aldeguer (Sync SpeedUp) returning from injury, four riders have the chance of leapfrogging Garcia this weekend. Manuel Gonzalez (Gresini Moto2™) is level with Aldeguer on points and the gap between the Spanish trio is six points, with Alonso Lopez (Sync SpeedUp) a further four points back in P6.
And with his Malaysian GP victory, Celestino Vietti (Red Bull KTM Ajo) still has an outside shot at collecting the bronze medal. The Italian is 16 points behind Garcia in seventh, as we look forward to seeing who ends up finishing the year inside the top three after Sunday afternoon’s race.

Another weekend, another David Alonso (CFMOTO Gaviota Aspar Team) victory. And this one meant something more.
The Colombian won for the 13th time in 2024, his sixth in a row, to hand his Valencia-based Aspar Team a reason to smile in what was an incredibly difficult weekend for everyone affected by the devasting floods in the region. Alonso, Aspar and the entire MotoGP™ paddock will race in solidarity with Valencia this weekend as the World Champion hunts win number 14 of the year. That would be an all-time record across any class.
The classy #80 won at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya earlier in the year, so he’ll take some stopping as he had done all season. Elsewhere, the fight for the silver medal took a twist in Sepang after Daniel Holgado (Red Bull GASGAS Tech3) suffered a DNF, which meant Collin Veijer’s (Liqui Moly Husqvarna Intact GP) P5 saw the Dutch star draw level on points with the Spaniard with one race to go.
Ivan Ortola (MT Helmets – MSI) is mathematically still in with a shout too. The #48 – who bagged a P4 in Malaysia – sits 19 points down on both Holgado and Veijer, so a big swing will be needed in Ortola’s favour if he’s to collect the runners-up medal come Sunday. No matter what happens, Ortola will need to win or match his P2 from May to have a say.

Finding a replacement for Canepa, the most successful Italian EWC rider of all time, would never be easy, but O’Halloran brings a wealth of experience. After starting racing in his native country, he went on to be crowned the 2007 Australian Supersport Champion. Moving to the UK, he has been plying his trade in the British Superbike Championship since 2008 and enjoying wildcard rides in Moto2, WorldSBK, and WorldSSP.
The “O Show”, as O’Halloran is affectionately known, raced in the Superbike class for Yamaha in BSB from 2019-2023, winning 26 races and recording a best-placed finish of second overall in 2020, as he established himself as a regular title contender on his R1.
O’Halloran is no stranger to endurance racing after riding as an injury replacement during the 2012 season and securing a podium at the Doha 8 Hours, a top ten at Suzuka, and fourth at the 8 Hours of Oschersleben.
The 36-year-old also continues the YART team’s long association with Australian riders, which has seen Damian Cudlin, Steve Martin, Josh Brookes, Broc Parkes, Wayne Maxwell, and Ricky Olson all race for them in the past.
With the rider lineup secured, the team now turns its focus to the opening round of the 2025 FIM Endurance World Championship, the 24 Heures Motos at Le Mans, which will take place from April 17th to 20th.
Jason O’Halloran
Yamalube YART Yamaha EWC Official Team
“I am extremely excited to join the YART team and become a full-time EWC rider. I have spent many years in British Superbikes, but when I started speaking to the team, it just seemed like the perfect move. I want to thank everybody who made this happen. I cannot wait to join up with the team, and what a team! Endurance World Champions in 2009 and 2023, plus Marvin and Karel, are amazing riders, and the team’s achievements speak for themselves. I had a lot of success in BSB with Yamaha, so I am excited to get back onto the R1. It has always been the bike I gelled with the best; it suits my riding style, and I love riding it. I had a taste of riding in the EWC in the past, and it has always been a championship I wanted to race in. With Niccolò retiring, the timing was perfect, and I cannot wait for the challenge ahead.”
Mandy Kainz
Yamalube YART Yamaha EWC Official Team – Team Manager
“I am delighted to welcome Jason to YART. Once Niccolò announced his retirement, my phone was ringing off the hook with riders wanting to join the team, but for me, the person I always wanted to sign was Jason. Not only has he shown how good he is on the R1 as the most successful Yamaha rider in BSB in terms of victories, but he also has a lot of experience from other classes and is a real team player. It helps that he has also ridden in the EWC before, and we feel he is the perfect addition to the team. He will bring something different but will also slot right into the YART family, and we can’t wait to kick off the new season!”
Niccolò Canepa
Yamaha Motor Europe – Road Racing Sporting Manager
“We are really happy to have Jason joining the YART team, and we are excited to see what he can do on the bike. He has a lot of experience with the R1 and has shown his talent and ability in the British Superbike Championship with 26 wins, so I think he will bring a lot to the team. I also think he has the perfect character to succeed in EWC, as you need not only to be fast but also to be a team player and be able to work with your teammates. I got to know Jason in BSB last year. I was his teammate for a couple of race weekends, and he helped me a lot during this time, which made me realise that he had the right attitude for EWC. He already has some endurance experience, but he will have to adapt quite quickly, and we feel that with his addition to the team, we will have the perfect package to fight for the title next season.”

It could be argued that our ROLLPACK is the most versatile of Kriega’s range of products.
On the surface it’s a very simple idea, but because it was designed by Kriega, and manufactured to the same high standards the company has built its reputation on, there’s a lot more going on beneath the surface.
What was the design brief for the ROLLPACK?
Firstly, a rollpack is a really useful piece of luggage. Basic ‘plastic-welded’ rollpacks have been available for years, but there are too many compromises with them. They’re a single skin design, so any damage and they’re no longer waterproof, plus they can be difficult to strap to a bike securely and evenly. If they do have integrated straps, they are often not the quality we’d choose.
We wanted to use everything we’ve learned in the past 25 years of motorcycle luggage design to produce the very best rollpack we could.
What’s the main difference to what else is on the market?
The key difference is the Kriega ROLLPACK design is a double-skinned Drypack design. The ROLLPACK has a very durable, UV-resistant Cordura outer and our white, 100% waterproof liner. If the Cordura outer is ever damaged, and it takes a lot to cut through that heavy-duty material, but if it is damaged, then there’s still the second waterproof skin inside to keep everything clean and dry.
The waterproof liner is removable, so it can be washed and easily refitted, or replaced relatively inexpensively, meaning the ROLLPACK will last for years and years of hard use. It might seem impractical to have a white liner, but we chose that colour so it’s much easier to find things in the bag, than if the liner was a dark colour.
What are the challenges of designing a motorcycle-specific rollpack?
It’s not a challenge specifically, but integrating the straps, and making sure they’re tidy and don’t flap about is crucial to the design. Our integrated solution is a V-strap design that makes the pack super-stable. The straps are heavy-duty webbing with aircraft-spec alloy hardware. The straps can be cinched down really securely thanks to the cam buckles, then tied-up with the Velcro tidies.
Subframe loops are included in the box, and the Rollpack’s straps hook back on themselves, so you can mount the bag to just about any bike.
When the design team were visualising the ROLLPACK how did they imagine it being used?
There were a couple of scenarios. One was riders flying abroad to ride. Thanks to its versatility, it’ll strap to a step-thru you rent in Vietnam, a dirtbike in Costa Rica, or a Harley you use to cross the USA.
Also, they roll up very small when they’re not being used, so they can be left in a backpack or pannier for whenever you need them.
How does the ROLLPACK integrate with other Kriega luggage systems?
The ROLLPACK strap arrangement has been designed to work with our OS-BASE rackless luggage as a ‘middle’ bag. Once it’s strapped to the OS-BASE it’s really stable, with no jiggle.
What was the thinking behind the material choice?
420D Cordura (heavier 500D is used for Coyote and MultiCam Black colour options) is the ideal weight for the balance of longevity and making the ROLLPACK compact when not in use. There are double-entry rollpacks designed for cyclists, but that market is obsessed with weight, so those designs can’t be expected to survive the abuse motorcycle luggage is subjected to.
Why make 20- and a 40-litre options, when one of the benefits of the double-entry design is you can roll them down from each end to suit what you’re carrying?
Yes, that is a benefit of the double-entry design, meaning the straps are always in the centre of the pack, even if the pack is not full to capacity, but the ROLLPACK 40 is a different pattern to the 20. It’s not just longer, the ROLLPACK 40 is taller and wider too.
You have other 20- and 40-litre luggage options. Where does the ROLLPACK score in comparison to them?
Because it’s a simple tube design, it can take really bulky items, like a winter weight sleeping bag, or a tent, that you might struggle to get into a similar-sized backpack or pannier. That’s just a result of the different designs and requirements of the two pieces of luggage. The ROLLPACK 40 is less expensive than the US-40 RACKPACK, and has that benefit of rolling up very small when not in use, where the US-40 is a more rigid construction, that retains its shape.
Kriega ROLLPACKS are available in two sizes, 20- and 40-litre, and five different colours: Black, Lime, Orange, Coyote and MultiCam Black.

Suzuki will celebrate the 20th anniversary of John Reynolds’ 2004 British Superbike title at this year’s Motorcycle Live, which takes place from 16-24 November at Birmingham’s NEC.
Onboard the now-iconic Rizla Suzuki GSX-R1000, ran by the Crescent Suzuki team, Reynolds won his third British Superbike title, taking seven wins along the way. It was also the first British Superbike Championship title to be won by an inline four-cylinder machine, after years of 750cc fours and 1000 twin-cylinder machines.
Reynolds’ GSX-R will be displayed proudly on the Suzuki stand, along with his leathers, gloves, and helmet. Reynolds himself will be attending the show on both the opening weekend – 16-17 November – and the final weekend – 23-24 November.
Alongside commentator, former racer, and fan-favourite James Whitham, Reynolds will be on the main stage at 12:00 on Saturday 16 November and 13:30 on Saturday 23 November* to discuss his history-making, title-winning season, a season that took his BSB championship win tally to three. And, when not on stage, he will be present on the Suzuki stand to meet and greet fans.ohn Reynolds said, “I’m really honoured that Suzuki wants to celebrate my 2004 championship, 20 years on. Earlier this year, at Suzuki Live at Cadwell Park, I actually rode the bike for the first time since that season and it brought back a lot of happy memories, so I’m looking forward to getting the chance to talk about it all over again. It was a great season, and I think it was a great year for BSB. It’ll be fantastic to tell some of the stories and talk through the highs and lows with James [Whitham] on the stage and with the fans that can remember it.”
Suzuki GB marketing manager, Jak Tyrrell, added, “There are few pairings and race bike liveries more recognisable than John Reynolds and Rizla Suzuki. And that 2004 season will always be considered one of the classics thanks to the racing and competition between John, the Crescent Suzuki team, and their rivals. Add to the mix the history that was made and it really had everything to make it a season and championship to savour. John has since been a hugely important brand ambassador for Suzuki, as well as playing a key role as a test and development rider for models such as the GSX-R1000, as well as B-King and SV650. We’re really excited to celebrate that season and John’s success.”

The Aprilia RSV4’s story is one of the most fascinating in motorcycling. Created to win on the track, it dominated for a decade, earning critical acclaim and racing victories across every category it entered.
In its most extreme iteration, it even competed in the MotoGP World Championship. No other superbike can boast such a pedigree.
In a sector where motorcycles represent the pinnacle of available technology, Aprilia has demonstrated exceptional design foresight by creating and continuously evolving an innovative and winning project that remains the benchmark for racing pedigree and performance. The RSV4 exemplifies the extraordinary potential derived from the invaluable experience of Aprilia’s Reparto Corse. Reparto Corse has claimed 54 world titles in its relatively brief history, with the RSV4 securing seven of these in the World Superbike Championship.
This extraordinary model’s evolution has continued with an update primarily focusing on styling, closely intertwined with function. The new design emerges from extensive work on applied aerodynamics, confirming Aprilia’s commitment to pioneering increasingly complex and innovative solutions. Aprilia led the way in introducing aerodynamic appendages to superbikes (with the 2018 RSV4 RF LE).
Given the racing performance now delivered by the RSV4, aerodynamic development has become more critical than ever—ensuring maximum stability on the tarmac, optimising tyre grip and harnessing every bit of power generated by the Noale V4. The new RSV4’s bodywork has been completely redesigned with two primary aims: to improve rider protection and reduce drag. Two stacked wing surfaces have been introduced in the area beneath the windshield. This new winglet configuration, derived from Aprilia’s MotoGP experience and refined in the wind tunnel, increases downforce, thus enhancing cornering precision and high-speed stability—areas in which previous RSV4 models already excelled. The new aerodynamics also help to reduce the heat directed towards the rider, partly because of the introduction of new, more powerful radiator fans. Overall, the new fairing reduces the aerodynamic drag coefficient (CX) by 6% and the tendency to wheelie by 8% compared to the previous version of the RSV4, delivering increased acceleration with less physical effort required. New side panels integrate seamlessly with the redesigned tail section. The lighter, minimalist rear light cluster is integrated into the numberplate holder. The indicators handle all lighting functions. Therefore, the bike can be prepared for track use by removing the numberplate holder.
The new RSV4 has a 5″ TFT colour instrument cluster featuring revised graphics, a fuel level indicator, and new backlit control switches on the handlebars. The upper triple clamp is also new and made from lighter aluminium, while the top-spec Brembo braking system has been further enhanced with new front Hypure callipers, which are lighter and more efficient than the previous Stylema callipers.
Aprilia’s V4 engine powers the RSV4 and RSV4 Factory. It is the world’s first mass- produced high-performance narrow-angle V4, and the most revolutionary and powerful engine Aprilia has ever built. Despite complying with Euro 5+ regulations, it delivers increased torque and power: 220 hp at 13,100 rpm and 125 Nm at 10,800 rpm, making the RSV4 the world’s most powerful homologated production superbike. These benchmark figures result from refinement work on Noale’s exceptional V4 engine, which now features a set of 52 mm throttle bodies and a new exhaust system. The catalytic converter has been repositioned to reduce heat emissions towards the rider and simplify the fitting of the homologated slip-on exhaust from Aprilia’s comprehensive accessories range. A new chapter has opened for the onboard electronics in all new Aprilia V4 models, which control the active rider assistance systems. Aprilia has introduced a new generation of control systems, available as in-app purchases, enabling riders to optimise electronic settings according to their riding style and requirements without needing to visit a dealer. Aprilia’s new electronics packages balance performance and safety, adding fresh functions and adjustments to the RSV4’s already comprehensive setup. The system helps riders explore their limits safely whilst enabling gradual improvement. This enhancement comes through new adaptive and predictive components for the wheelie, traction and yaw controls.
The algorithm’s predictive component processes vehicle parameters in real time (including speed, lean angle, gear, throttle position and more) to anticipate intervention, ensuring smooth and precise control. Moreover, the sophisticated software continuously analyses the motorcycle’s dynamic responses and the rider’s style, delivering more refined and precise control.
Both models come equipped as standard with a six-axis inertial platform, a Ride-by- Wire electronic throttle, and three riding modes that manage the three levels of Cornering ABS and the controls in the APRC (Aprilia Performance Ride Control), the renowned suite of racing-derived systems, which includes:
ATC: Aprilia Traction Control: adjustable on the fly without closing the throttle, with eight levels. It offers more effective intervention logic and now works in synergy with the new ASC (Aprilia Slide Control), which is adjustable to three independent levels.
(New) AWC, Aprilia Wheelie Control: the new wheelie control system, adjustable to three levels, features predictive strategies. The system doesn’t intervene abruptly to mitigate a wheelie in progress but acts smoothly before the event occurs, enhancing performance. This adaptive feature, designed for track sessions, learns the rider’s characteristics and adjusts the intervention level to ensure optimal performance.
AEM, Aprilia Engine Map: three different mappings available to modify the engine’s character and power delivery.
AEB, Aprilia Engine Brake: the three-level adjustable engine brake control system with a specific algorithm that optimises operation by considering the lean
AQS, Aprilia Quick Shift: the electronic gearbox for lightning-fast gear changes without closing the throttle or using the It comes with a downshift function, enabling downshifting without engaging the clutch. It also allows downshifting with an open throttle.
The Track Pack, standard on the RSV4 Factory, includes:
Race Dashboard: the track-focused instrument cluster
ALC, Aprilia Launch Control: the track-only starting assist system, adjustable to three levels for track-only use, featuring highly effective operating
APL, Aprilia Pit Limiter: the system that allows the rider to select and limit maximum speed in the pit lane or easily comply with road speed limits.
(New) ASC, Aprilia Slide Control: the new three-level adjustable function to prevent and limit rear wheel side slip. Like the new AWC, ASC also features predictive functionality.
The Comfort Pack, standard on the RSV4 Factory, includes:
Bending lights: a pair of auxiliary headlights within the headlight housings illuminate the inside of corners, improving visibility whilst leaning.
ACC, Aprilia Cruise Control: convenient during longer journeys, allowing the rider to maintain a set speed without using the throttle.
The Race Pack: standard on the RSV4 Factory, it includes the GPS Module, which enables automatic lap time recording on the track, just like on race bikes. The Race Pack enables:
Corner-by-corner functionality. As with the most advanced race bikes, this system automatically adjusts ATC and AWC electronic settings according to the preferences set by the rider before going out on This is the latest evolution of the corner-by-corner management system, which Aprilia first introduced in 2015.
The corner-by-corner suspension function is also standard on the RSV4 Factory. This system automatically adjusts the electronic settings of the semi-active Öhlins Smart EC 2.0 suspension according to the preferences set by the rider before going out on track.
The Race Pack and corner-by-corner management of the semi-active Öhlins suspension operate through the new fourth-generation Aprilia MIA multimedia platform (standard on the RSV4 Factory). This allows riders to connect their smartphones to the bike, extending the instrument cluster functions and enabling data download for analysis.
Aprilia has designed and developed a comprehensive range of accessories for customising the RSV4 and RSV4 Factory. These premium items include various carbon-fibre components, TPMS tyre pressure sensors, many CNC-machined aluminium parts, and SC Project’s homologated slip-on exhaust.
The partnership between Aprilia and Alpinestars continues, creating a complete clothing line dedicated to Aprilia V4 bikes. The Throttle Leather Suit, made from full- grain leather, ensures top performance and fit. It combines perfectly with the Throttle Gloves, also made from full-grain goatskin. The new collection also includes a line of gear for road use, featuring the Twisties Tex Jacket, with removable winter lining, and the Throttle Leather Jacket, made from leather and equipped with Nucleon Flex Plus protection, designed to accommodate an airbag. New items include the Twisties Gloves, which feature a leather palm and a multi-layer construction with carbon fibre protection.
Versions and colours
Two versions are available: The RSV4 offers a premium technical platform delivering the same performance as the Factory model, powered by the identical 220hp V4 engine. It offers two colour schemes: Poison Yellow, featuring a predominantly grey finish with many yellow accents highlighting its racing spirit, and Stingray Blue, a striking electric blue complemented by red details.
Following tradition, the Aprilia RSV4 Factory features premium equipment, including forged aluminium wheels and the Öhlins Smart EC 2.0 semi-active suspension system, replacing the RSV4’s fully adjustable Sachs mechanical suspension trio. All electronic packages come as standard, including the new Slide Control function, the corner-by- corner suspension and engine power delivery calibration. It is available in a single colour scheme – Dark Kraken – making the Factory instantly recognisable, also thanks to its combination with the two-tone saddle.

The immense success of the RS 660, sold in 72 countries, stems from Aprilia’s highly successful 660 project, which redefines sportiness in an innovative and contemporary key through a range of lightweight, high-performance motorbikes featuring superior technical and electronic attributes.
These bikes are accessible and enjoyable for everyday use by new riders while also providing thrilling track performance for experienced riders.
We can see this in the results achieved across all the championships where the Aprilia RS 660 competes, including the SportBike class in British Superbike and the Twins Cup in MotoAmerica, where it has consistently been among the leaders and won the 2024 title. But it is also revealed by Miguel Oliveira’s remarkable lap time of 1’45″467 in the Race of Stars, a contest between the best Aprilia riders, past and present, held during the grand Aprilia All Stars event at the Misano circuit.
For the first time in this class, the RS 660 offers technical features derived from Aprilia’s world championship racing experience, a formula designed to enhance road riding enjoyment. Its lightweight design—just 183 kg in running order—and the superb APRC electronic control package complete this ideal formula. The RS 660 embodies the essence of the Aprilia brand, a perfect combination of innovation, technology, and design.
Aprilia RS 660
From its inception, the Aprilia RS 660 has set the standard for a new category of motorcycles, which it essentially pioneered. The development of this solid and well-regarded project aims for excellence. It introduces aerodynamic solutions typically reserved for superbikes, reaffirming Aprilia’s superiority in this field. The fairing has been completely redesigned. While maintaining its core principles of dynamic, modern shapes with compact surfaces, it now features more advanced aerodynamics, incorporating concepts from Aprilia’s MotoGP experience. A large wing is now positioned beneath the windshield, along with two smaller aerodynamic appendages that enhance airflow penetration and high-speed stability.
The redesigned side fairings retain the double-layer structure with an integrated aerodynamic appendage, an exceptionally innovative solution. Developing these new features proved challenging, as the goal was to integrate design with functionality seamlessly. Their efficiency was first analysed using CFD (Computational Fluid Dynamics) software before testing in a wind tunnel and finally on both road and track. The goal was to enhance performance while improving rider comfort by shielding them from air pressure and diverting hot air flows extracted from the engine and radiator.
The Aprilia RS 660 has also evolved in onboard electronics: the equipment is now more comprehensive, featuring new backlit handlebar controls and a larger 5” full-colour instrument cluster with optical bonding, which enhances brightness and reduces reflections, offering more information.
One of the standout features of the Aprilia RS 660 is its electronic systems, designed to enhance both performance and safety. From the first version, it has offered the most comprehensive system in its category, surpassing superbike-class machines.
Aprilia has always been at the cutting edge of electronic innovation (it was the first to introduce Ride-by-Wire throttle control in 2007) and now boasts the full APRC (Aprilia Performance Ride Control) electronic control package. Designed for top-level competition, both the public and critics widely regard it as one of the most advanced systems on the market.
The APRC on the new Aprilia RS 660 now includes launch control, a standing start management system typically deployed on competition bikes. This system complements the already comprehensive set of features, including ATC (adjustable and switchable traction control), AWC (adjustable and switchable wheelie control), ACC (cruise control, allowing the rider to maintain a set speed without using the throttle), AQS (bidirectional quick-shifter), AEB (adjustable engine brake control), and AEM (multiple engine maps that modify power delivery characteristics). As before, the Aprilia RS 660 comes standard with an electronic Ride-by-Wire throttle and a six-axis inertial platform. This platform uses accelerometers and gyroscopes to detect the bike’s position relative to the road, processing rider inputs and sending data to the ECU to adjust control parameters as needed. It also comes with multi-map Cornering ABS, optimising braking and ABS intervention in corners through a specific algorithm. This algorithm constantly monitors various parameters, such as lateral acceleration, pressure on the front brake lever, lean angle, pitch, and yaw, modulating the braking action to balance deceleration and stability optimally.
The 660cc forward-facing twin-cylinder engine, a compact and lightweight latest-generation unit, already delivering record performance for its class, now complies with Euro 5+ standards. With the adoption of larger diameter throttle bodies (52 mm instead of the previous 48 mm), the RS 660 now outputs 105 HP (with a 35 kW restricted version also available). The engine also acts as a stressed member, contributing to a compact, lightweight, and rigid structure through a twin-spar frame bolted to the steering head and rear, in keeping with Aprilia’s tradition of refined chassis design.
Two colour variants are available: Venom Yellow and Blue Marlin. In both cases, Aprilia’s designers have focused on creating dynamic graphics and colours that emphasise the RS 660’s sportiness. This design philosophy is the common thread across all current faired Aprilia motorcycles, from the RS 125 to the RSV4.
Aprilia RS 660 Factory
Long awaited by enthusiasts since the announcement of the 660 series, the RS 660 Factory version is finally here.
A name synonymous with racing spirit and uncompromising components, this is the sportiest and most exclusive model in the RS 660 range.
In keeping with Noale superbike tradition, the RS 660 Factory comes standard with advanced Öhlins suspension: the 43 mm NIX 30 series fork and STX 46 shock absorber with an integrated reservoir, both with fully adjustable hydraulic rebound and compression damping and spring preload. The two-tone seat and new graphics, featuring black on the sides and red on the upper section, set this premium version apart.
A wide range of new accessories is available for sports and touring. The single-seat tail unit can replace the passenger seat: lighter than the previous version, it features a revised design, providing more space for the rider and improving the ability to move back for better wind protection when in a tucked position.
This, combined with the more powerful engine and more efficient aerodynamics, gives the Aprilia RS 660 Factory a top speed of 240 km/h. The thermoformed luggage set is aerodynamic and ergonomically compatible with the passenger seat. The GPS module allows for automatic recording of track times. The SC-Project homologated exhaust and a range of premium components are made from billet aluminium.
Also noteworthy are the new clothing items created in partnership with Alpinestars, ideally suited for the RS 660, including the Aprilia Throttle Leather Jacket, the Aprilia Twisties Tex Jacket, and the Aprilia Twisties Leather Gloves.

The latest incarnation of one of the most acclaimed bikes by critics and fans alike has now landed: it’s an Aprilia, and its name is admired and respected by all sporting riders – a real thrill-maker. It’s not any naked bike, it’s the Tuono, which has always served as a point of reference in the category, both for its efficiency and the sporty feeling it delivers, both when riding on the road and pushing the limits on the track. Aprilia was the first to understand the advantages of creating a more pared-back version of its sports bike with an elevated riding position, giving each generation of the Tuono unparalleled dynamic qualities. The new Aprilia Tuono V4 is heir to a dynasty of motorcycles that have been hailed over time as among the most adrenaline-filled rides ever, and the level of performance and sophistication that these bikes offer has now reached its peak thanks to Aprilia’s expertise, acquired over years of winning competitions at the highest level.
The Tuono family is more diverse and complete than ever, and can accompany the rider on their personal growth journey, whilst offering thrillingly sporty models that live up to the brand’s reputation. The range includes the Tuono 125, the striking entry-level bike, the Tuono 457, which is light, advanced and fun, perfect for new riders, the Tuono 660 Factory, with a record-breaking power- weight ratio that makes it super light and accessible to all, and finally the Tuono V4, the culmination of an exciting riding career.
There are two models available, distinguished by their individual set-ups: The Tuono V4 is the ultimate hypernaked bike for sporty road riding, offering unrivalled thrills, with the option of making it more comfortable for touring thanks to an extensive range of original Aprilia accessories; meanwhile, the Tuono V4 Factory is an even more exclusive version of the bike, dedicated to the most exacting riders, and equipped with components that are largely derived from the Aprilia RSV4.
The new design is a contemporary, bold expression of the stylistic language that is typical of all Aprilia bikes, and is characterised by compact, pared-back shapes which enhance its sporty appearance. As is traditional, the new Tuono V4 models also feature the fairing attached to the frame, which is essential in order to ensure a lightweight, precise and responsive front end. Now, however, the design has been totally overhauled to offer more protection from the air flow, and now accommodates two overlapping wing surfaces which can increase the vertical load by 2.5kg at 250 km/h. The layout of the winglets, inspired by Aprilia’s experience in MotoGP, was developed in the wind tunnel, and enables increased road adherence and thus more precise cornering, an area in which previous versions of the Tuono V4 already excelled, as well as stability at high speeds. In addition, the new design helps to improve heat dissipation thanks to the presence of more powerful radiator fans, as well as increasing rider comfort, diverting the hot air flows away from the legs. The design of the side panels is also new; they are now better integrated with the style of the new tailpiece. The rear light cluster is lighter and simpler in its design, and is integrated into the license plate holder; all of the lighting functions are performed by the turn signals. This means that the license plate holder simply needs to be removed in order to prepare the bike for use on the track.
The set-up of the new Aprilia Tuono V4 models includes the lightweight lithium battery, the TFT 5” colour instrument panel with new graphics, and the backlit electric control blocks on the handlebar.
The Tuono V4 and Tuono V4 Factory are powered by the famous and multi-winning Aprilia four- cylinder 65° V engine with unique features. The narrow V shape has enabled the creation of an engine with an incredibly small longitudinal footprint, enabling the masses to be centralised and facilitating a compact chassis design. There is no other engine out there that can boast a success story spanning more than a decade. A platform that can meet the requirements of the most advanced sports rider, as well as representing an outstanding basis for the development of a racing engine. The Noale-made V4 has been increased from 1077 to 1099 cc, and now features a set of 52-mm throttle bodies. The exhaust system is also new, with the catalytic converter located in a different position, decreasing the heat that reaches the rider and making it easier to fit the type-approved slip- on exhaust, part of Aprilia’s extensive range of accessories. In accordance with the new Euro 5+ standard, the maximum power has now been increased to 180 hp at 11,800 rpm, with exceptional maximum torque values (121 Nm at 9,600 rpm), for even more efficient, adrenaline- fueled riding on both road and track.
The chassis of the Tuono V4 has always served as a point of reference within the category. Aprilia’s expertise in creating exceptional chassis is key here, and on the new Tuono V4 bikes, the design has reached an extraordinary level of maturity. For the first time ever, the aluminium dual-beam frame is painted in an edgy matte black shade on the Tuono V4.
For all new Aprilia V4s, a new chapter has begun when it comes to the on-board electronics which manage the active rider assistance systems. A new generation of control systems, which can also be bought as “in-app purchases” which do not require a visit to the dealership, offer the best electronic configuration to meet the rider’s requirements and riding style. For the first time, Aprilia has introduced a series of electronics packages that represent the optimal combination of performance and safety, adding various new features and adjustments to the Tuono V4 equipment, which is already impressive. The system helps the rider to reach their limits in total safety, thus enabling gradual improvements. This has been made possible by the introduction of new adaptive/predictive components on the wheelie, traction and yaw controls.
The predictive component of the algorhythm processes the vehicle parameters in real time (speed, lean angle, gears, throttle opening etc.) in order to prepare for the system intervention in advance, in a gradual, targeted manner. In addition to this, the cutting-edge software continuously analyses the vehicle’s dynamic responses and the individual riding style, offering even more refined, effective control.
The six-axis inertial platform, Ride-by-Wire electronic throttle and 3 riding modes which manage the 3 levels of Cornering ABS come as standard on both models, as well as the controls that are offered by the APRC (Aprilia Performance Ride Control), the notable package of control systems directly derived from racing. This includes the following:
ATC, Aprilia Traction Control, the traction control system that can be adjusted across 8 levels whilst riding without closing the throttle. This system now offers more effective intervention, and works in synergy with the new ASC (Aprilia Slide Control) system, which can be adjusted across 3 independent levels.
(New) AWC, Aprilia Wheelie Control, the new wheelie control system that can be adjusted across 3 levels, with predictive functions: the intervention does not abruptly step in to mitigate a wheelie that has already started, but rather acts gently before the event occurs, to the benefit of performance. The adaptive function, dedicated to track sessions, learns the rider’s characteristics and adjusts the level of intervention required to ensure the best possible
AEM, Aprilia Engine Map, with 3 different mapping options to change the character and the way the engine delivers power.
AEB, Aprilia Engine Brake, the engine braking control system that can be adjusted across 3 levels, with a specific algorhythm that optimises function whilst taking the lean angle into
AQS, Aprilia Quick Shift, the electronic gearbox for super-fast shifts without closing the throttle or using the clutch, with a downshift function that lets the rider downshift without having to press the clutch. Also allows downshifting with the throttle open.
The Track Pack, which comes as standard on the Tuono V4 Factory, features the following:
Race Dashboard, the instrumentation configuration dedicated to the
ALC, Aprilia Launch Control, the launch control system for track use only, adjustable across 3 levels, with highly efficient operation strategies.
APL, Aprilia Pit Limiter, the system that makes it possible to select and limit the maximum speed permitted in order to ride along the pit lane of racetracks, or to enable easy adherence to the speed limits on normal roads.
(New) ASC, Aprilia Slide Control, the new adjustable function that can prevent and limit the lateral slide of the rear Like the new AWC, the ASC also features predictive functions.
The Comfort Pack, which comes as standard on the Tuono V4 Factory, features the following:
Bending lights, the pair of additional headlights in the reflectors that illuminate the inside of the curve, increasing visibility when leaning.
ACC, Aprilia Cruise Control, very convenient during longer rides, as it allows the rider to maintain the set speed without having to touch the throttle.
The Race Pack, only available on the Tuono V4 Factory, includes the GPS Module that also enables automatic detection of lap times on the track, just like in racing motorcycles. The Race Pack offers:
Corner-by-corner function: as on the most advanced racing bikes, this system automatically changes the electronic ATC and AWC settings in accordance with those enabled by the rider before going out on the track. It is the most advanced version of the corner-by-corner electronics management system that Aprilia first introduced back in 2015.
The Suspension Pack, which requires the GPS Module, is only available on the Tuono V4 Factory, and offers:
– Corner-by-corner suspension function: This system automatically changes the electronic settings of the Öhlins Semi-Active Smart EC 2.0 suspension, in accordance with the settings enabled by the rider before going out on the track.
The Race Pack and the Suspension Pack use the new fourth-generation Aprilia MIA, Aprilia’s multimedia platform (offered as an accessory on both models) which enables smartphone connection to the bike, extending the functions of the instrumentation.
At the end of each track session, the data from the ECU can be downloaded and analysed on the computer – a telemetry system worthy of the best racing bikes.
The Aprilia Tuono V4
The new Aprilia Tuono V4 was inspired by the desire to offer a more street-focused version of the bike that would make full use of the Tuono V4’s exceptional technical and engine-related features, offering the same unique characteristics and riding pleasure – the Tuono V4’s heritage – to motorcyclists who use the bike for a wider range of rides. The Tuono V4’s saddle-pedal-handlebar triangle configuration is identical to that of the Tuono V4 Factory and is clearly focused on sportiness, but it can be modified with higher handlebar risers for a more upright, relaxed riding position. The dedicated passenger accessories include a wider seat and two large grab handles.
The Aprilia Tuono V4 is equipped with a trio of Sachs suspensions. These are fully adjustable, enabling every individual to find their own perfect set-up, whether more focused on sporty track riding or adventures on the road. The V4 engine with its unique character and sound is the same as that installed on the Tuono V4 Factory. There are two colour variants available: Shark Gray and Scorpion Yellow, both matte, to enhance the philosophy of the Tuono family, a sporty bike in evening attire. The single-seat tailpiece that replaces the passenger seat comes as standard.
The Aprilia Tuono V4 Factory
The jewel in the crown of Aprilia’s Tuono V4 range, and the most sophisticated and sporty bike currently available. It offers the cutting-edge Öhlins electronic suspension system as standard, developed in close collaboration with Aprilia engineers. The special technology of the Semi-Active Smart EC 2.0 suspension system enables easy custom calibration of the fork, shock absorber and steering damper. The Track Pack and the Comfort Pack are offered as standard, as well as the single-seater tailpiece that replaces the passenger seat. It is available in the unique Dark Kraken graphic version, which makes the Factory immediately recognisable, not least because of its pairing with the two-tone saddle. The range of dedicated accessories for the Tuono V4 Factory is also extensive: handlebar risers for a more elevated ride, various parts in high-quality carbon, TPMS sensors for monitoring tyre pressure, and the must-have slip-on carbon exhaust type-approved by SC Project.
The collaboration between Aprilia and Alpinestars continues, giving rise to a complete line of clothing dedicated to the Aprilia V4 models. The Throttle Leather full leather suit provides superb performance and fit, pairing perfectly with the Throttle Leather Suit gloves, crafted from full-grain goatskin leather. The new outfit also includes a range of pieces for road use including the Twisties Tex fabric jacket with removable winter lining and the Throttle Leather Jacket with Nucleon Flex Plus protectors designed to accommodate the airbag. The Twisties gloves with leather palm and multilayer construction with carbon protectors are a further new addition to the

The Factory versions of Aprilia sports bikes have always been the flagship of the company’s production, dedicated to the most demanding and skilled bikers who recognise the quality of their exceptionally refined outfitting. The public appreciated the previous Tuono 660 Factory so much that Aprilia has decided to leave the new version as the only model in the range, certain of having in its hands an exquisite means of fun with unbeatable dynamic qualities. The new Tuono 660 Factory is a true generator of emotions within everyone’s reach, fully in keeping with Aprilia’s 660 project for motorbikes with an outstanding weight/power ratio, lightweight and high-performing, built around its next generation, highly modern and technological straight-twin engine.
With the aim of being even more incisive and fun for racing on the road, the outfitting of the new Aprilia Tuono 660 Factory has taken another step up to include the advanced Öhlins suspensions: the fork is of the NIX 30 series with 43 mm stems, while the STX 46 shock absorber has a built-in tank. Both units can be fine-tuned in terms of rebound and compression damping, and in spring pre- load too.
Further improvement to the weight/power ratio, one of the main goals of all the Aprilia 660 bikes and already at the top on the previous version: the kerb weight of 181 kg is now associated with the new maximum power value of 105 hp provided by the 660 cc straight-twin transverse engine with a double overhead cam timing system and four valves per cylinder, obtained thanks also to the use of the new and bigger 52 mm throttle bodies in place of the previous 48 mm ones. There’s also a 35 kW restricted version: a compact and lightweight next generation unit resulting from the experience acquired on the hugely powerful engine fitted on the RSV4, and with which it shares the same construction philosophy and basic concepts. The engine also has a load-bearing function, with its rear area housing the aluminium fork.
The combustion chambers are asymmetrical, staggered by 270° to obtain irregular sparks and therefore performance and sounds similar to a V twin engine. This layout helps to create a compact, lightweight and yet rigid structure thanks to a frame with two side beams bolted in the area of the steering connecting rod and in the back part, echoing the Aprilia tradition of producing exquisite chassis. For the first time on the Tuono 660, the frame/swingarm unit is painted a gutsy black.
Tuono 660 Factory is equipped with the complete series of electronic APRC controls as standard, with the electronic Ride-by-Wire accelerator and inertial 6-axis platform. The latter, thanks to the accelerometers and gyroscopes it contains, is able to recognise the bike condition in relation to the road; it records and processes the input obtained while travelling, and sends the data to the control unit which intervenes to optimise the control parameters. The Tuono 660 Factory APRC now boasts launch control (ALC) – the system that manages standing starts and is normally used on competition bikes. The APRC includes ATC (Aprilia Traction Control) – adjustable traction control characterised by high-performing fine intervention logics; AWC (Aprilia Wheelie Control) – the adjustable nose-up control system; ACC (Aprilia Cruise Control) for maintaining the set speed without using throttle control; AQS (Aprilia Quick Shift) – an electronic gearbox for very fast gear changes without leaving the accelerator or using the clutch (and also fitted with a downshift function for shifting down without touching the clutch); AEB (Aprilia Engine Brake) – the system for adjustable engine brake control during throttle-off; and AEM (Aprilia Engine Map) that provides different mappings to change the character and way of dispensing engine power.
As before, Tuono 660 Factory has multi-map ABS Cornering, a system (of extremely limited weight and size) that optimises braking and the intervention of ABS on bends thanks to a specific algorithm which constantly monitors various parameters such as lateral acceleration, pressure on the front brake lever, and the turning, roll and yaw angles, modulating the action of the brakes to combine deceleration and stability in the best possible way.
Aprilia Tuono 660 Factory has stepped up its on-board electronics too: the more lavish accessories now include new electric commands to the back-lit handlebar, and a larger (5”) new colour instrument panel with optic bonding (boosting brightness and reducing reflections), able to provide more information.
The design of the new Tuono 660 Factory continues to stand out for its small footrests that emphasise its sporty character, and by the innovative choice of a twin fairing acting as an aerodynamic appendage: the pressure of the air channelled between the two walls helps to boost stability at high speeds and at the same time enhances the rider’s comfort and protects him/her from direct flows, even diverting the hot air taken from the engine. The new Tuono 660 Factory is distinguished by superstructures for the new design of the front area and by the absence of the push rod underneath the engine (avoiding extra weight), not to mention its more streamlined style. The accessories also include a single-seater tail that can replace the passenger seat – lighter than the previous one and with a renewed design that increases the space for the rider, making it possible to sit further back to ensure greater protection from the air when lying low on the tank.

A new Aprilia Tuono is born, and new generations of motorcyclists – among the most knowledgeable and passionate out there – know that a new machine dedicated to pure fun is about to land
Young motorcyclists have already demonstrated their appreciation for Aprilia’s skill in understanding and interpreting their desire for fun with the RS 457, a model that was conceived in Noale and which harnesses all of Aprilia’s extensive knowledge in designing and building a true sports bike.
This excellent technical base provides the building blocks for the Aprilia Tuono 457, unveiled to new riders as a true naked bike, dedicated to day-to-day riding and leisure-time fun. The new Aprilia bears a legendary name which has always been synonymous with cutting-edge technology, maximum performance and absolute enjoyment both on the road and on the track.
Tuono 457 is the latest heir to a tradition of excellence in high-handlebar sports bikes offering a superb, adrenaline-filled ride. As such, the 457 is undoubtedly a Tuono to all intents and purposes, but it also has a number of differences that render it all the more exclusive: it is the only bike in the range that does not have a fairing integrated into the frame. In its place – for the first time on a Tuono – is a pared-back light cluster, worthy of a true naked bike. It’s the most non-conformist and rebellious Tuono that has ever been, and whilst it retains the core features of all Tuono bikes, the new model boasts an all-new look, designed to satisfy the needs and desires of the youngest generation at which it is aimed.
A fresh new design
The entire design of the Tuono 457 is new, and has grown from a blank sheet, upon which Aprilia’s designers have sketched the pared-back lines and compact surfaces of a true naked bike – an evolution of the stylistic language that makes all Aprilia bikes instantly recognisable and utterly unique. The full LED front light cluster retains the characteristic triple headlight that typifies all Aprilia models, interpreted here in an innovative manner, with a small lower spoiler – a homage to that on the legendary Tuono 1000 R twin-cylinder which also reflects the design of all Aprilia road bikes in the range, where the application of advanced aerodynamic solutions is clear to see.
The new tank shape expresses a sense of sportiness and has an ergonomic design which is specifically conceived to match the wide handlebar, for a dynamic, fun ride.
Also new is the design of the side panels and tailpiece, which echo the essential styling of the Tuono 457. The rear light cluster is also full LED, while the twin-cylinder engine with load-bearing function is intentionally left uncovered, highlighting its uniqueness in this category, as is the twin-beam aluminium frame. The decision to locate the exhaust system under the engine also contributes to the clean look of the bike, whilst also providing greater freedom in terms of the positioning of the passenger footrests. The saddle, which is 800 mm from the ground, is tapered at the sides to aid the rider when placing a foot on the ground; the passenger seat is roomy, while the single-seat tailpiece is available as an accessory.
Top-level power/weight ratio
The Tuono 457 is crafted around the ultra-modern 457 cc twin-cylinder engine which has just been introduced on the RS 457, the jewel in Aprilia’s technological crown.
It is a liquid-cooled, parallel front twin-cylinder engine with double camshaft timing and four valves per cylinder, which has a maximum power output of 35 kW (47.6 hp) at 9,400 rpm – the maximum possible for a motorbike that can be ridden with an A2 licence – and a torque of 43.5 Nm at 6,700 rpm, 82% of which is already available at 3,000 rpm. The bike offers record levels of performance for a front twin-cylinder with this engine size.
This latest-generation engine is extremely compact and light, helping to achieve a record power/weight ratio, the key priority for Noale’s designers: indeed, the bike’s dry weight is just 159 kg. The specific layout of the engine was selected to optimise lightness and compactness as far as possible, leaving plenty of freedom when designing the chassis; the engine also has a load-bearing function, with the swingarm mount incorporated into the rear.
Aprilia’s twin-cylinder engine draws on the experience gained with the super-powerful 1100 cc V4 engine fitted on the RSV4 and later on the 659 cc twin-cylinder engine fitted to the 660 range.
Aprilia’s technicians have worked to optimise the overall dimensions, fully integrating the cooling circuit and the blow-by recovery circuit into the engine, enabling external piping to be eliminated.
The crankcase is split horizontally into two parts, in order to further reduce bulk and make the structure more robust.
Various solutions have been used to minimise internal friction: the cylinders are offset by around 6.5 mm from the crankshaft, reducing friction during the piston thrust; the countershaft and the water pump work on roller bearings instead of bushings, and the piston pins undergo a DLC (Diamond-like Carbon) surface treatment. Finally, the gearbox uses roller cages instead of bushings – the same as on Aprilia’s V4 engines – and in addition, it boasts a new patented lubrication solution, with a system integrated into the axles of the shift forks. The cam axles of the 4-valve/cylinder twin camshaft timing system, driven by a lateral chain, are hollow and use calibrated cups – which help to reduce inertia – in order to move the valves. The oil-bath multi-disc clutch is power-assisted, and has an anti-hopping system. Unlike the RS 457, the final drive train of the Tuono 457 is shorter as a result of the adoption of a crown wheel with an extra tooth, which enables even greater responsiveness at every touch of the electronic Ride-by-Wire multimap throttle.
The chassis: absolute lightness and agility
The new Tuono 457 benefits from Aprilia’s invaluable, winning expertise, gained through years of competing, and is the only bike in its segment with an aluminium frame.
To achieve the very best compromise between rigidity and weight, the shapes of the chassis were optimised using Computer Aided Engineering (CAE), along with a host of on-road development sessions. The resulting layout is devoted to maximum lightness, which ensures the dynamic behaviour and the characteristic front-axle feel common to all Aprilia bikes. The chassis is forged from two lateral aluminium beams, bolted onto the steering head and at the rear; the engine functions as a load-bearing element – a solution inspired by the highly successful engine on the 660 road range – which enables the creation of a compact, light and rigid structure. This solution delivers the best power/weight ratio in the category. In order to allow the chassis to fully express its superb handling and precision to the full, cutting-edge suspensions have been selected, and the calibration of the latter delivers maximum fun and the best possible control in every situation. The fork with 41 mm stems and 120 mm travel has a preload adjustment setting, and the rear shock absorber (with 130 mm travel), which supports the asymmetrical steel swingarm, is adjustable too.
The braking system features a pair of ByBre callipers (the front of which has a radial mount) which operate with two steel discs of 320 mm at the front and 220 mm at the rear.
The brake lever on the handlebar is adjustable, ensuring the best ergonomic position at all times.
The system is assisted by a Bosch two-channel ABS system with dual-mapping, available either on both wheels or only on the front. The 17-inch rims fit tyres measuring 110/70 at the front and 150/60 at the back – perfect for emphasising the spectacular agility that the features of the chassis deliver.
Electronic control systems for safety and fun
The electronic equipment of the Tuono 457 continues Aprilia’s technological tradition, and is the most comprehensive in this category, developed with the dual goal of enhancing riding fun and ensuring maximum safety under all conditions. The Ride by Wire system – which Aprilia introduced first, both in MotoGP with the futuristic RS Cube, and in mass production with the Shiver – boasts three Riding Modes that adjust the power and torque delivery and the traction control, which can be set to three levels as well as disengaged. The Aprilia Riding Modes are also conceived to make life in the saddle easier: the rider simply selects the mode best suited to their riding style or situation in order to enjoy the optimal engine management and traction control settings.
The three Riding Modes are as follows:
ECO: the power delivered by the engine is progressive, while the traction control intervention level is set to medium (Level 2). Perfect for longer journeys and for day-to-day riding.
SPORT: the perfect mode for sporting riding, with a more prompt, dynamic power delivery from the engine and less invasive traction control (Level 1).
RAIN: a riding mode designed for use in low-grip conditions and on wet tarmac.
The power delivery is very smooth, whilst the traction control is set to maximum (Level 3) for total safety when accelerating.
The ATC (Aprilia Traction Control) system can always be adjusted, regardless of the Riding Mode selected, including whilst riding, by using the handy UP and DOWN buttons on the left-hand command block. In all Riding Modes, the ABS is set to the maximum level, and is engaged on both wheels. The ABS can be disengaged from the rear wheel when the bike is stationary, by pressing and holding the Riding Mode button, in order to maximise the sporty ride when on the track, for example.
The extensive catalogue of dedicated accessories also includes the AQS system:
Aprilia Quick Shift, the bi-directional electronic gearbox, for super-fast gear changes without having to close the throttle or use the clutch, which is also available when downshifting.
The Tuono 457 equipment also includes the cutting-edge TFT 5” colour instrument panel as standard, as well as the practical, intuitive back-lit commands on the handlebar. The Aprilia MIA system is another accessory that further extends the functionality of the instrumentation: this multi-media platform enables the rider to connect their smartphone to the bike. The system offers a connection protocol which minimises smartphone battery consumption, and includes both the Infotainment system – for managing the voice assistant, calls and music via the intuitive handlebar controls – and the navigation function, which enables the rider to view pictogram directions directly on the instrument panel after setting the travel destination on the associated smartphone. The Aprilia MIA app also enables the routes taken to be memorised as well as analysing the data acquired directly on the app, using the geo-referenced telemetry function.
Versions and colours
The Aprilia Tuono 457 comes in two different graphic versions. The Piranha Red livery boasts the classic colours of Aprilia’s history – black and red – which serve to highlight the sporty nature of the Tuono 457. The second graphic version is called Puma Gray and features more sober colours, grey and white, which lend the Tuono 457 a more urban look.

MotoAmerica, North America’s premier motorcycle road racing series, is thrilled to announce that three-time World Champion Kenny Roberts will make a welcome return to American road racing as a team owner in the 2025 Parts Unlimited Talent Cup, a championship designed to prepare young North American racers who have the desire and talent to compete on the world stage of MotoGP.
Roberts, who was influential as a team owner in getting American road racers Eddie Lawson, Wayne Rainey, John Kocinski, and Kenny Roberts Jr. to be World Champions, is hopeful of giving young racers the opportunity to join those legends as Grand Prix racers via MotoAmerica’s new Talent Cup program.
Partnering with Fastrack Racing’s Arney Wick, Roberts will initially start the series with one rider and that rider is none other than three-time American Flat Track (AFT) Singles Champion Kody Kopp. Kopp will make his road racing debut in the opening round of the Talent Cup at the MotoGP event at Circuit of The Americas, March 28-30, on the KrämerAPX-350 MA.
The Krämer APX-350 MA motorcycle has been specifically designed and engineered for the MotoAmerica Talent Cup as it is designed to support a pipeline from the U.S. circuits directly into the European systems that ultimately feed MotoGP teams.
“This is the first time I can see an avenue where we can get young Americans to MotoGP,” Roberts said. “Production bike racing has never done it for me as it’s really complicated because you must be on the right bike, etc. The Talent Cup will give us the opportunity to really see the talent of the rider. I still think dirt tracking is the first step, and the Talent Cup gives us a chance to put a young dirt tracker on the equipment that’s the same as everyone else’s and that hasn’t been the case until now. This is the first step back into the world arena and I’d like to hear the American National Anthem on the rostrum before I slip off the groove.”
Kopp is the winningest AFT Singles rider in history as he has amassed 21 victories while capturing three straight championships.
“I’m extremely excited to begin the next chapter of my career and I’m honored to be a part of a team with Kenny Roberts,” Kopp said. “I’m excited to get to work and I can’t wait to ride the bike.”
“Obviously, having Kenny as a team owner in MotoAmerica is a win for everybody,” said MotoAmerica President Wayne Rainey. “His presence in the paddock will create interest in the Talent Cup both here and internationally. Kenny and his team are also bringing in Kody Kopp, a flat track champion, and it will be interesting to watch his development under Kenny’s guidance. Kody couldn’t ask for a better person to learn from as Kenny has truly done it all – as both a racer and a team owner.”
The team will have more information on team partners and structure in the near future.

DJI, the global leader in civilian drones and creative camera technology, today introduces DJI Goggles N3, offering an enhanced way to enjoy an immersive flight experience from a pilot’s perspective.
Compatible with the new DJI Neo and DJI Avata 21, drone pilots can immerse themselves in thrilling aerial adventures at an accommodating and accessible price. With the simple tilt of a head or the flick of a wrist on the DJI RC Motion 31, users can perform aerial acrobatics including 360° flips and rolls, 180° lateral drifts, and one-tap power loops (with Avata 2), creating visually stunning cinematic footage and seamless synergy between the drone and its pilot.
“DJI continues to innovate the flying experience with our FPV products, whether it’s improving the comfort and user experience for our pilots or creating ways for pilots to share their aerial adventures with their friends and family,” said Ferdinand Wolf, Product Experience Director at DJI. “DJI Goggles N3 offers everyone the chance to sit in the cockpit and experience aerial tricks like flips and drifts from the comfort of their living room. Never before have people been able to explore the sky in this way.”
Designed for Comfort with an Ultra-wide Screen
With a roomy interior design, DJI Goggles N3 easily accommodates prescription eyewear, allowing pilots to keep their eyeglasses on, instead of making diopter adjustments or lens installations to correct their vision in-flight. The goggles’ headband and battery are also integrated into one piece to balance the weight, ensuring a light, comfortable fit. Featuring a full 1080p screen, the goggles boast an impressive 54° field of view (FOV) that creates an amazingly immersive visual experience. Ideal for changing temperature and high-humidity conditions, new one-tap defogging turns on an internal fan to circulate air, removing condensation and keeping the pilot’s view crystal-clear and fog-free.
Ultra-low Latency and Stable Video Transmission
Equipped with DJI’s advanced O4 digital video transmission system, featuring the same antenna design as Goggles 2, DJI Goggles N3 offers exceptional anti-interference performance. With 1080p/60fps live feeds, an average ultra-low latency of 31 ms1, and a transmission range of up to 13 km1, the system maintains stable, near-synchronous flight perceptions. The goggles automatically select the optimal frequency band between 2.4 GHz and 5.8 GHz1 based on the environment, ensuring a smooth live view, even when flying at a high speed.
New Features Enabling Smoother, Shareable, and Longer Flights
Several enhancements make the DJI Goggles N3 easier to use than ever. Most notably, an augmented reality (AR) cursor can be used when paired with the DJI RC Motion 3 to activate functions and adjust camera settings from the goggles’ screen before the aircraft takes off or while it’s braking or hovering. Other new features include:
Share Real-Time Live Feed: A smartphone can display a secondary live feed through the DJI Fly app by connecting DJI Goggles N3 to the smartphone with a USB-C cable. Everyone can experience what it feels like to fly thanks to this feature.
Powerful 2.7-hour Long Operating Time1: When fully charged, DJI Goggles N3 can last nearly three hours, allowing pilots to explore the skies and expand their creativity.
