WorldSSP: A first pole position of the season was the reward for Stefano Manzi (Pata Yamaha Ten Kate Racing) in today’s Superpole Session.
The Yamaha rider set his fastest time on his final lap to pip title rival Can Oncu (Yamaha BLU CRU Evan Bros Team) by a tenth of a second
A multiple bike crash saw the 40 minute session red flagged in the opening minutes. When the action got back underway Oncu set the benchmark time. The Turkish rider was challenged throughout by Manzi but the Turkish rider held on to his front row start from Jaume Masia (Orelac Racing Verdnatura)
Matteo Casadei (Motozoo ME air Racing) impressed again by qualifying fourth fastest. The Italian rider returned to the Supersport class at the previous round and will line-up alongside Lucas Mahias (GMT94-YAMAHA) and Valentin Debise (Renzi Corse)
P1 – Stefano Manzi (Pata Yamaha Ten Kate Racing)
“It’s been a strong Friday here in the UK. I’m super happy with the work and effort the team put in after the disappointment at the last round in Misano. We had a mixed weekend there because I won Race 1 but then made a mistake in Race 2. I feel like we have a great team and Yamaha are behind me and are working hard to help me get back to the top. It looks like here, we’re immediately back on the pace. I’m really happy to start from pole tomorrow.”
