Motoe: - Portuguese Gp - PreviewMotoE: Has the best been saved to last? One round remains for MotoE and Portugal hosts a wide-open title scrap where it really can all change.

Whilst it may well be the final round for the foreseeable future for the MotoE World Championship, that doesn’t mean it isn’t ready to host what could be one of the most remarkable title showdowns. 2025’s rollercoaster season hits the circuit that epitomises it: Portimao. Just one previous visit and seven headline acts – plus a whole host of others looking to sign off on a high – you can’t miss the conclusion to MotoE’s immense final season.

We can’t start anywhere else other than current Championship leader Alessandro Zaccone (Aruba Cloud MotoE Team). A Race 1 win last time out really did propel him back into title contention whilst Mattia Casadei’s (LCR E-Team) qualifying blunder saw him down in P9 in Race 1 before rallying for P3 in Race 2 – he was a Portimao winner in 2024, is he the favourite? Just five points split the top two whilst seven further back, the second Misano winner of Matteo Ferrari (Felo Gresini MotoE). Five podiums in eight, he’s tied on points with Lorenzo Baldassarri (Dynavolt Intact GP MotoE). ‘Balda’ suffered the worst round of his rookie season last time out and right at the wrong time but is still within striking distance of the crown.

With the top four split by just 12 points, it’s the rider in fifth place who is in form. Eric Granado (LCR E-Team) has 13 wins – the same as teammate Casadei and in-form Ferrari – and was runner-up in MotoE in 2022. A stalwart of the class, it’d be a poetic end if he saved his best until last. With Moto2’s Diogo Moreira on the cusp of glory, Granado could make it a weekend to remember for Brazil. Three P2 finishes in the last five for Nicholas Spinelli (Rivacold Snipers Team MotoE) but a Race 2 fall at Misano has left him 26 behind Zaccone, although the #24 was a winner at Portimao in 2024. Andrea Mantovani (Klint Forward Factory Racing) refuses to give in and hangs on in contention in P7 and seven points further back.

Kevin Zannoni (Power Electronics Aspar Team), teammate Jordi Torres, outgoing Champion Hector Garzo (Dynavolt Intact GP MotoE), and Oscar Gutierrez (MSI Racing Team) have all had podiums in 2025. Other riders including teammate Jacopo Hosciuc, Tibor Erik Varga (Rivacold Snipers Team MotoE) and newly-crowned WorldWCR Champion Maria Herrera (Klint Forward Factory Team) have all shown podium pace or top five potential at points; could they have a final say in the 2025 title race?
