Jerez surprises: MotoJunior cranks up the heat in Round 3
The FIM MotoJunior World Championship enjoyed an unforgettable trip to Jerez, with new winners, big surprises and close battles coming to the forefront on Sunday!
Moto3 Junior World Championship
– Round 3 of the Moto3 Junior World Championship began in style, with Carlos Cano (CFMOTO Aspar Junior Team) securing a hard-fought victory – defeating teammate Yaroslav Karpushin (CFMOTO Aspar Junior Team) by 0.036s.
– Fernando Bujosa (AC Racing Team) earned third, rounding off the podium places following an incredible ride.
– Leonardo Zanni (Momoven Racing) spent the majority of Race 1 in the lead, eventually crashing out at Turn 6 on the final lap.
– Race 2 saw the next instalment of drama, with Yaroslav Karpushin (CFMOTO Aspar Junior Team) coming out on top. The #17 clinched his first victory in class, defeating David Gonzalez (AC Racing Team), who returned to form following his late Race 1 crash.
– Travis Borg (Team Monlau Motul) secured the final spot on the podium, enjoying a sensational end to his weekend.
– Further back, CFMOTO Aspar Junior Team’s Carlos Cano and Giulio Pugliese crashed at Turn 2, resulting in damage limitation for the pair as Cano recovered to P9 and Pugliese to P16.
Moto2 European Championship
– Milan Pawelec (AGR Team) claimed a sensational victory in the sole Moto2 European Championship race. Leaving Jerez, the #44 earns the Championship lead – holding a six-point advantage.
– Francesco Mongiardo (MMR) took second, claiming his best result of the season and his first podium since Race 1 in Barcelona. Unai Orradre (Momoven Racing) charged to third, remaining firmly in the title fight.
– Eric Fernandez (Fau55TeyRacing) finished fourth, being demoted off the podium after the #4 was handed a three-second time penalty for irresponsible riding.
Moto4 European Cup
– Lorenzo Pritelli (Team Echovit Pasini Racing) earned Race 1 victory in the Momoven Moto4 European Cup, ending Alvaro Lucas’s (CFMOTO Aspar Junior Team) win streak in 2026.
– Lucas grabbed second, finishing a mere 0.030s behind eventual winner Pritelli and adding a further 25 points to his points haul. Meanwhile, Edoardo Savino (Leopard Junior) claimed the final spot on the podium after fighting from P7 on the grid.
– In Race 2, Mateo Marulanda (AC Racing Team) was victorious following an incredible ride, adding his name to the winner’s list in a reduced-distance race.
– Ignacio Galan (Frando Racing VHC Team) ended Sunday in P2, whilst Qabil Irfan (SIC –GRYD Racing) rounded out the podium.
– Race 2 was brought to an early end following a red-flagged incident involving Lorenzo Pritelli, Alvaro Lucas, Edoardo Savino and Victor Cubeles (Team Impala Honda).
Stock European Championship
– Jacobo Hinojosa (Futurotel Face Racing) celebrated a perfect end to Sunday, winning the Stock European Championship race following an epic ride. The #34 defeated David Jimenez (MDR Competicion) and Alberto Garcia (Top Surface Aspar Team), who both took rostrum finishes.
– Yeray Ruiz (Team Honda Laglisse FPS) surprised the field in P5, working his way from P25 on the grid.
– It was a red-flagged race, with Blai Trias (GV Tamoil Racing) unable to make the restart before Filippo Fuligni (Futurotel Face Racing) and Miguel Bernal (MDR Competicion) were involved in separate incidents on the restart, bringing an early end to proceedings.
