Moto4 British Cup: Two different winners from two races, Brands Hatch served up a dramatic weekend in the south, leaving everything to play for ahead of Silverstone!
Miraculous Marco: Holt grabs Race 1 honours
From Snetterton to Brands Hatch, the 2026 season continues to deliver, with rookies and title contenders creating headlines. Marco Holt (City Lifting / RS Racing) earned a historic victory at Brands Hatch, securing a maiden R&G Moto4 British Cup win. Holt held onto P1 by 0.021s, being challenged by Jack Dunabie (Kovara Projects / RS Racing) on the exit of the final corner. Meanwhile, Jack Burrows (Burrows Engineering / RK Racing) returned to the podium, grabbing valuable points to remain in title contention.
Ryan Frost (Fibre Tec Honda By MLav Racing) launched from pole position, holding the advantage on the run to Turn 1. Dunabie slid into second at the start, ahead of his rookie teammate Luke Fitchett (Kovara Projects / RS Racing) and title rival Burrows. Dunabie didn’t wait long to enter P1, setting the stage for an almighty Saturday duel at Brands Hatch. It was Holt who set the pace early on, clocking the fastest lap and entering the podium picture.
It was a disappointing day for Thorley Trevorrow (Fibre Tec Honda By MLav Racing) and Hudson Cooper (Rides R Us / NW Racing), who crashed at the exit of Turn 2. Frost had a miraculous save moments later, running onto the grass and briefly dropping to the back of the front group. The lead continued to change hands, with Holt having his turn in P1, in search of his maiden Moto4 win. Later on, Jensen Bishop (Wilson Racing) also crashed out, ending his hopes on Lap 8.
Frost, Dunabie, Holt and more fought for track position in the closing laps, with an eight-rider group battling for P1. Frost held the advantage heading onto the final lap of action, before Dunabie, Holt and Burrows all found a way through at Turn 2. Holt attempted an attack at Hawthorns, hitting the front and leading into the final sector. As expected, Race 1 went down to the wire, with Holt fending off Dunabie to win by a mere 0.021s!
Holt, Dunabie and Burrows stood on the podium once more, leaving the Championship gap at 12 points ahead of Sunday. Frost missed out in fourth, whilst rookie Harrison Day (LRA Moto supported by HV Solutions) rounded out the top five after a solid ride. Fitchett earned sixth, beating Alex Remesal-Lomas (Fibre Tec Honda By MLav Racing) and George Bowes (A Edwards Racing), who rounded out the top eight. Tyler Humphries (Fibre Tec Honda By MLav Racing) was ninth, whilst Clayton Edmunds (City Lifting / RS Racing) clinched the final spot inside the top 10.
Seven points: Dunabie fights back on Sunday
Jack Dunabie returned to the top step on Sunday, claiming Race 2 victory following another stunning ride. Dunabie held a 0.023s advantage over title rival Ryan Frost at the chequered flag, with the #24’s lead in the Championship being brought down to just seven points ahead of Round 5. Jack Burrows rounded out the rostrum spots, completing a solid weekend with further good points scored. It was another race which went down to the wire as Brands Hatch delivered the goods once more!
There was drama before the race even began, with Mason Foster (Mortimer Racing) crashing out on the warm-up lap – rider OK. Holt launched from pole position, being challenged by Dunabie and Harrison Day at Turn 1. It was a clean start from the field, with the #63 leading the field through as Championship leader Ryan Frost remained in P4. The top group created a gap, with a seven-bike train beginning their incredible fight for victory. Day was impressive during the opening laps, showing immediate potential in his rookie season.
Holt didn’t need a second invitation to hit the front, returning to P1 as the #37 searched for a second win. Later on, Thorley Trevorrow ended a weekend to forget, crashing at Druids on Lap 5. The fastest lap dropped, with Remesal-Lomas, Burrows and later Dunabie setting the pace. It was a disappointing end to Race 2 for Day, crashing out of the race lead at Turn 10 – rider OK. After clocking the fastest lap, Dunabie returned to the front, teeing up an unforgettable end to our Brands Hatch weekend.
In the closing laps, the front group pushed the envelope as the top six continued to trade blows, allowing Clayton Edmunds and Remesal-Lomas to catch the pack. Throughout all the fighting, Burrows worked quietly into podium position ahead of the final lap, with Dunabie holding the advantage at Turn 1. It was an incredible final lap from the #63, who, despite being briefly challenged by Frost, held on to victory at Brands Hatch!
Dunabie, Frost and Burrows were separated by 0.083s at the chequered flag after another epic scrap. Race 1 winner Holt missed out on a podium finish in fourth, whilst Fitchett rounded out the top five finishers in Race 2. Clayton Edmunds was sixth, whilst George Bowes and Alex Remesal-Lomas rounded out the top eight. Aeziah Divine (Fibre Tec Honda By MLav Racing) and Tyler Humphries finished inside the top 10 – ending their weekend in style.
