Jorge Martin returns to the track to sign off the 2025 MotoGP season. A season plagued by injury, no testing and a highly publicised contract dispute with Aprilia, the season will be one to forget for the 2024 MotoGP Champ!

In order to start the 2026 season on a clean slate, Jorge Martin must compete this weekend to carry out his double long lap penalty, given due to an opening lap crash in Japan with Marco Bezzecchi. Had he not been fit to ride this weekend, the penalty would have been waiting for him on the opening round of the 2026 season – not the best way to get a season underway.

Therefore, this weekend in Valencia will be the last time fans will see the number 1 plate on track, the incumbent 2025 championship winner, Marc Marquez, will not be giving up his iconic #93, so it wont be till at least 2027 before we see it again.. assuming that Marc doesn’t win the 2026 season. Seems unlikely at this stage!
