Barcelona bound: MotoE gears up for a blockbuster Round 5
MotoE: Fresh from Hungary’s debut on the calendar, it’s now Barcelona’s turn to write the next chapter
The 2025 FIM MotoE™ World Championship remains wide open, with just 22 points covering the top five in the standings. Mattia Casadei (LCR E-Team) leads the way after securing a landmark double victory in Hungary, where Balaton Park made its debut on the MotoE calendar. Now, the stage shifts to the iconic Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya, with everything still to play for in 2025!
Casadei has emerged as the rider to beat, leaping from P5 to the top of the standings following a groundbreaking double victory in Hungary. The Italian holds a 14-point lead and is gunning to become the first rider since 2023 to claim three consecutive wins. Hot on his heels, Lorenzo Baldassarri (Dynavolt Intact GP) jumps to P2, proving that consistency is key as he hunts for his first victory in the electric series. Meanwhile, Andrea Mantovani (KLINT Forward Factory Team) had another difficult weekend, dropping to third in the Championship – looking to return to the podium.
Alessandro Zaccone (Aruba Cloud MotoE Team) is also chasing a return to the podium, sitting tied with Mantovani on 101 points. Zaccone has fond memories in Barcelona, having claimed a P3 finish in Race 2 last year. Meanwhile, Matteo Ferrari (Felo Gresini MotoE) continues his impressive form, climbing into the top five overall after another podium – now just 22 points adrift from the Championship lead. Reigning World Champion Hector Garzo (Dynavolt Intact GP) is determined to bounce back in Barcelona as he sits seventh in the standings behind the experienced Nicholas Spinelli (Rivacold Snipers Team MotoE).
Meanwhile, Oscar Gutierrez (MSI Racing Team) and Kevin Zannoni (Power Electronics Aspar Team) have their hopes set high, with both having tasted victory here in 2024. Elsewhere, other riders to watch include Jordi Torres (Power Electronics Aspar Team), who will aim for his first podium since Assen and on home turf he knows better than almost anyone. Eric Granado (LCR E-Team) will also be on a charge, as he sits P10 in the Championship standings after some injury struggles so far. The #51 has claimed two podiums across the last two rounds, proving a return to form in the second half of 2025.
Get ready for Round 5 in Barcelona and before all of that, catch up on the action from Hungary!
