4 Min Read

Honda Racing Corporation Secure Fabio Quartararo And David Alonso For Motogp FutureHonda Racing Corporation (HRC) has confirmed a major boost to its future MotoGP ambitions by announcing the signing of both Fabio Quartararo and David Alonso, strengthening its rider line-up ahead of the new 850cc era beginning in 2027.

Former MotoGP World Champion Fabio Quartararo has signed a two-year agreement covering the 2027 and 2028 MotoGP World Championship seasons. The Frenchman will join the factory Honda HRC team as MotoGP enters its next technical era.

Quartararo arrived in the premier class in 2019 after a record-breaking career in the FIM CEV Moto3 International Championship and four competitive seasons across the Moto3 and Moto2 World Championships. He made an immediate impact in MotoGP, claiming pole position in just his fourth race and ending his rookie campaign with six pole positions and seven podium finishes.

He went on to secure the 2021 MotoGP World Championship, before finishing runner-up in 2022. To date, Quartararo has amassed 11 MotoGP victories, 32 podium finishes and 21 pole positions, establishing himself as one of the sport’s leading riders.

Joining Quartararo in Honda’s long-term plans is rising Colombian star David Alonso, who has signed a multi-year contract with Honda Racing Corporation for the MotoGP World Championship.

The 20-year-old has enjoyed one of the most remarkable rises through the lightweight categories in recent years. Alonso finished third in the Moto3 World Championship as a rookie in 2023 before dominating the class the following season. Now competing in his second Moto2 campaign, he claimed his maiden intermediate-class victory at the 2025 Hungarian Grand Prix and currently sits fourth in the 2026 Moto2 World Championship standings.

Across his Moto3 and Moto2 career, Alonso has accumulated 20 victories, 30 podium finishes and nine pole positions, consistently exceeding expectations as one of motorcycle racing’s brightest young talents.

Alonso is scheduled to make his first appearance aboard Honda’s 2027 MotoGP machine during the post-race Valencia Test, marking the beginning of his premier-class career.

The arrival of both the proven experience of Quartararo and the emerging talent of Alonso underlines Honda Racing Corporation’s commitment to returning to the front of MotoGP competition as the championship embarks on a new chapter in 2027.
