WorldSPB: Hat-trick of Superpole success for Salvador
WorldSPB: A lap time of 1’42.280 was enough to secure a third consecutive pole position for David Salvador (Team ProDina Kawasaki XCI) in the Sportbike class.
The Spaniard, who holds a 13 point advantage in the championship, claimed the pole by just over one tenth of a second.
Filippo Bianchi (Team MMP Velocita) was the closest challenger. The local wildcard crashed at Turn 4 midway through the 25 minute session but looks set to be a contender this weekend having also topped the practice times this morning. Fellow Aprilia rider Matteo Vannucci rounded out the front row starts with his fourth top three Superpole performance of the campaign.

Carter Thompson (Team BrCorse) crashed at Turn 16 in the closing minutes but the Australian had done enough to qualify fourth fastest for his best Superpole performance of the season.
Taiyo Aksu delivered his best Superpole performance of the season in 14th position. The Australian’s PATA AG Motorsport Italia team has switched bikes to the Honda CBR600RR this weekend.

“This is my third pole position in a row which is an incredible performance for us. I think I did a great job today because I didn’t feel comfortable this morning. We made some setup changes for Superpole and, immediately, I felt great. It was just like in Aragon and I’m super happy because it’s a good way to start the weekend. It’s nice to start tomorrow from pole position because this is my team’s home round. Today was all about qualifying and I was focused on putting together one fast lap. Tomorrow I’ll use warm-up to prepare for the race.”
