WorldSSP300: First win of the season for Salvador
Matteo Vannucci (PATA AG Motorsport Italia WorldSSP300) led from the start of an 11 lap race for the WorldSSP300 field.
The Italian claimed the holeshot to lead into Turn 1 but Jeffrey Buis (Freudenberg KTM-Paligo Racing) made a strong start from the second row and would take the lead at Turn 5 ahead of Loris Veneman (MTM Kawasaki).
Having started on the fourth row of the grid Benat Fernandez (Team#109 Retro Traffic Kove) spent the race in the lead group. The championship leader ended the race in fifth position after missing out on the podium on an action packed final lap.
The eight rider group settled the battle for the victory with an incident at Turn 15 seeing Buis and Veneman crash out of the group. “I’m super happy for myself and the team. I had some engine problems during warm-up but we worked together and solved them. Today the setup was a little bit different compared to recent races and it felt good. That’s very positive for the next races. On the last lap, I pushed really hard and in the final corner I made the move to win.”
