David Salvador Joins Kawasaki WorldSSP Team For 2027
After some exceptional recent performances in the WorldSSP300 and now WorldSPB championships, Spanish rider David Salvador will join the official Kawasaki WorldSSP Team for the 2027 season.
Currently leading the WorldSPB championship on his ProDina Kawasaki XCI Ninja ZX-6R 636 machine after five rounds, Salvador will get a chance to mount a strong challenge in the 2027 WorldSSP Championship on a different spec of the middleweight Ninja.
David (23) took two WorldSSP300 race wins, as part of an overall total of seven podiums in the championship that immediately preceded WorldSPB. In the first season of WorldSPB racing this year, David had scored seven podiums, including two race victories, in only ten race starts across the five rounds held so far.
David’s promotion through the Kawasaki ranks has once again proved that the Team Green concept of aiming to give talented riders the opportunity to progress their careers, while competing as a member of the overall Kawasaki racing family, is providing positive outcomes.
David Salvador, stated: “I’m really happy to have this amazing opportunity for next season. I’m sure it will be a winning project, based on the Ninja ZX-6R 636, a very competitive bike with great potential. I want to thank everyone who believed in me and made all this possible, starting with Kawasaki, which I’ll do my best to bring to the top. I know this is a big step in my career, and on the one hand I want the time to pass quickly so that I can start working on the exciting new project, but on the other hand my effort and focus remain on the Sportbike championship. I’m leading in the standings right now and want to stay there, also as a way of thanking all those who have helped me and put their trust in me.”
Manuel Puccetti, Kawasaki WorldSSP Team Principal, stated: “We’re pleased to welcome David Salvador to our Supersport team next year. We are very proud to provide young riders in the Kawasaki orbit with important opportunities like this. This season, David has proved to have real skill, with his performance on track only highlighting his talent, maturity, and race management abilities. Characteristics that will serve him well in a higher and more challenging category like Supersport. I also want to underline the great work the Kawasaki teams are doing in the Sportbike categories, supporting and developing young riders who may, in future, form part of official Kawasaki teams, not only in Supersport but also in Superbike.”
Steve Guttridge, Kawasaki Motors Europe Race Planning Manager, stated: “First of all, I would like to thank our trusted partner in the World Sportbike Championship class – the Team ProDina Kawasaki XCI Team. They have provided such a strong platform for their riders to spring to the front of the highly competitive Championship, even in its first season. We opted to use the Ninja ZX-6R 636 for the new Sportbike class to help our young racers really understand the demands of the next big step up to the WorldSSP category and get familiarised with the motorcycle’s main characteristics. David clearly gels with our Ninja and has a pure racer’s mentality. We are looking forward to supporting him in the next stage of his career with Kawasaki.”
