MotoAmerica - Record Amount Of Entries For Barber Round 1MotoAmerica has announced that the number of entries for the Championship of Alabama at Barber Motorsports Park, September 21-23, has grown to a record high for the series with 139 racers set to compete in the five classes.

“It’s nice to see our newest classes gaining some momentum and it’s a nice surprise to see the Twins Cup entry list grow to 33 racers for Barber,” said MotoAmerica President Wayne Rainey. “We had high hopes for that class this season and it’s awesome to see the championship come down to the final round with a large entry list. Whoever comes out of this race with the title will know they earned it.”

The Motul Superbike class will feature its highest number of riders for the 2018 season with 18 top-notch Superbikes set to compete in next weekend’s season finale. Among the new faces on the grid at Barber will be Canadian Superbike racer Ben Young. Young will be aboard a Ben Young Racing BMW S1000RR. The familiar face of Geoff May will return to the series at Barber and he will also do so aboard a BMW S1000RR on the CCFOfficeSolutions.com team.

With the Twins Cup Championship the only title still up for grabs, the two protagonists going for the championship – Chris Parrish and Jason Madama – will have more than each other to fight against at Barber as the class entry list has swelled to a record high of 33. That list includes Jeffrey Tigert, the Californian who won the Sonoma Raceway round of the series in his only 2018 start.

Parrish and his Ghetto Customs Suzuki SV650 leads Madama and his Syndicate/AP MotoArts Yamaha FZ-07/MT-07 by just two points heading into next Saturday’s season finale.

The Supersport entry list is the biggest of the five classes with 37 riders entered for Barber. The class will be led by newly crowned 2018 MotoAmerica Supersport Champion JD Beach. Beach has won 11 races thus far in 2018, a mark that matches two-time Supersport Champion Garrett Gerloff’s mark of 11 wins in a year from a season ago. If Beach wins one of the two races he will hold that record. Beach, who won the 2015 MotoAmerica Supersport Championship, has 32 class victories – the most in MotoAmerica history.

Newly crowned Stock 1000 Champion Andrew Lee will lead the way heading to Barber and he will be joined by 19 other Stock 1000 racers as the entry list to that class has grown to 20.

The Liqui Moly Junior Cup Championship has already been decided with French Canadian Alex Dumas taking the title in New Jersey, but he will have his hands full at Barber with that class attracting 31 entries.

Practice and qualifying are set for all classes on Friday, September 21, at Barber Motorsports Park with racing action slated for Saturday and Sunday, September 22-23.
