FOUR 2025 Speedway GP Places on the line at 2024 FIM SGP Challenge

Four 2025 Speedway Gp Places On The Line At 2024 Fim Sgp ChallengeThe stakes will be high in the 2024 FIM SGP Challenge at Czech track Pardubice on Friday, October 4 as FOUR places in the 2025 FIM Speedway Grand Prix series will be up for grabs.

Staged alongside Pardubice’s iconic Golden Helmet meeting, one of the sport’s most famous and prestigious open events, which takes place on Sunday, October 6, the FIM SGP Challenge is the hotly contested final round of the Speedway GP qualifiers, which sees riders from all over the world battle for their place on the sport’s biggest stage.

The SGP Commission has increased the number of Speedway GP qualification places on offer at the FIM GP Challenge from three to four, giving riders an additional opportunity to secure a life-changing spot in the SGP elite. As a result, four permanent wild cards – reduced from five – will be selected by the SGP Commission for the 2025 series.

The FIM SGP Challenge comes just six days after the 2024 SGP season reaches its climax at the FIM Speedway GP of Poland – Torun on September 28, meaning the Pardubice showdown will be the final chance for Speedway GP World Championship hopefuls to book their place for 2025.

The top six riders in the 2024 SGP series will qualify for the 2025 competition, along with the Speedway European Championship winner and the top four at the FIM GP Challenge. The 2025 Speedway GP line-up of 15 riders will be completed by four wild cards.

The 2024 SGP series sees FIVE new riders make their full-time Speedway GP World Championship debuts. Latvia’s Andzejs Lebedevs, Germany’s Kai Huckenbeck and Poland’s Dominik Kubera received permanent wild cards, while Polish racer Szymon Wozniak and Czech star Jan Kvech made it via the 2023 FIM GP Challenge in Gislaved, Sweden last August.

FIM Speedway race director Phil Morris is pleased to offer an additional opportunity for Speedway GP’s qualification contenders to take their place in the SGP World Championship.

He said: “Offering this fourth qualification place gives greater significance to the qualification rounds. If riders know there are four places available, it just opens the series up that bit more.

“This year we have seen five new names enter the series. Hopefully having an extra place to pursue in Pardubice will help the riders trying to climb the ladder and get to Speedway GP.

“It is not an easy task; the Challenge is a very competitive meeting. We felt taking one of our permanent wild cards away and giving it to the riders competing in the FIM GP Challenge shows respect to the qualification process.”

The battle for places at the FIM SGP Challenge gets underway in May. German track Abensberg and Hungarian circuit Debrecen host qualification rounds on May 20, with Italian venue Lonigo and Slovak track Zarnovica staging two more qualifiers on May 25.

The 2024 Speedway GP series launches with the FIM Speedway GP of Croatia in Donji Kraljevec on April 27.

New XL Street Bullet Frame Sliders

New Xl Street Bullet Frame SlidersThe choice of numerous championship-winning race teams, renowned for their incredible ability to absorb the energy from high speed crashes saving damage to the chassis, GBRacing has redesigned and re-imagined the Bullet Slider for the street bike rider.

The new XL Street Bullet Frame Sliders offer the same incredible impact absorption technology with a larger puck for the ultimate in street bike chassis protection.

The XL also uses a reinforced version of the intelligently engineered mounting bush pioneered by the original Bullet Slider that effectively concertinas to absorb the energy of a direct impact.

New Xl Street Bullet Frame SlidersThis bush is also designed with a ‘sacrificial’ weak point. This means should the bike slide into a kerb, it will snap, preventing the slider from digging in, causing the bike to flip and subsequently sustain more damage.

This design also overcomes the age-old, traditional ‘crash bung’ problem of a long bolt bending in a frame at best, tearing threads out or even damaging engine mounts at worst. By using a short bolt that sits close to the bolt socket (5mm) the chance of the bolt bending and causing more (totally avoidable) damage is all but eliminated.

These larger, XL Street Bullet Frame Sliders are ideal for road riders looking for a more substantial looking crash puck to protect against accidental drops and road-speed spills.

For racing and track applications, the original Bullet Frame Sliders remain the recommended option, with proven performance at the very highest level of production racing.

Bolstering GBRacing’s commitment to providing race-developed, world-class motorcycle protection to all riders, these new XL Street Bullet Frame Sliders are available now.

Replacement pucks can also be purchased separately, in keeping with GBRacing’s ethos of affordability and reduced waste.

All GBRacing products are designed and made in the UK and are available to purchase direct from GBRacing or from its official dealers both in the UK and in 40 countries around the world.New Xl Street Bullet Frame Sliders

Pirelli SCORPION Trail III

Pirelli Scorpion Trail IiiPirelli SCORPION Trail III: the perfect union between road sportiness and a spirit of adventure.

The new Pirelli SCORPION Trail III represents the latest generation of adventure-touring tyres and are the sportiest ever on asphalt among the SCORPION family of motorcycle products.

The new Pirelli SCORPION Trail III represents the latest generation of adventure-touring tyres and are the sportiest ever on asphalt among the SCORPION family of motorcycle products.

Designed for modern adventure and crossover motorcycles, which are very versatile and can be used in different contexts, the new SCORPION Trail III is the result of the latest developments, in terms of technologies and materials used, by Pirelli’s Research and Development Department.

The SCORPION name immediately clarifies that it belongs to the range of Pirelli products intended for off-road use, also in two- and four-wheel competitions such as the Enduro World Championship and the Motocross World Championship in which Pirelli has been the undisputed leader for 40 years with 81 world titles won. This is because SCORPION Trail III is a street enduro tyre, therefore a product mainly intended for use on asphalt, but which also allows you to tackle routes on dirt roads.

On asphalt, the SCORPION Trail III tyres are able to offer the motorcyclist very sporty behaviour, thanks to the high levels of grip and optimal handling, excellent stability even at full load and wet performance similar to that of a Sport-Touring tyre.

When you abandon asphalt in favour of dirt roads, the constant alternation of the central and transverse grooves under the footprint provides control and traction.
Finally, another advantage offered by SCORPION Trail III is the notable acoustic comfort (minimizing road noise) which doesn’t detract from road riding pleasure.

These benefits are made possible thanks to the perfect harmony of all the elements that make up the tyre:Pirelli Scorpion Trail Iii

Tread Pattern
The tread design of SCORPION Trail III is an evolution of that of its predecessor SCORPION Trail II with the aim of improving stability and riding precision.

To achieve this goal, the winning scheme of the characteristic design of the DIABLO sport range was revisited and integrated in a street enduro product.

The grooves on the central band, which are inspired by the eye-catching and iconic FLASH present in the DIABLO range, allow for wet drainage and lateral riding stability on softer terrain, while providing even wear.

Finally, the integration with robust central grooves for traction and shoulder grooves has been designed to offer good guidance and traction even on dirt roads.

These tricks have allowed SCORPION Trail III to increase the land/sea ratio compared to its predecessor, thus offering a greater presence of rubber in contact with the asphalt and, consequently, an advantage in terms of road performance.

Pirelli Scorpion Trail IiiCompounds
SCORPION Trail III offers new compounds, for the radial sizes always 100% silica based for both the front and rear, for excellent performance on both wet and dry surfaces. The rear dual-compound radials use a soft compound on the shoulders and use various plasticising resins that optimise cornering grip. The harder compound in the central tread band is similar to that used for the front tyre and has been designed to offer high stability, wear resistance and mileage.

Structures
The structures of the fronts derive from the supersport experience and enhance ride and grip; in particular the radial sizes boast a construction with a 0-degree steel belt which provides excellent stability even at high speeds.

The highly rigid structures of the rear tyres allow sporty handling in all applications and give high stability in all load conditions.Pirelli Scorpion Trail Iii

Profiles
The profiles derive from Pirelli’s experience in Sport Touring tyres with a multi-radius approach that provides stability at high speeds, high mileage, and a sporty feeling with progressive behaviour.

Sizes
The table shows the sizes envisaged for SCORPION Trail III which will be available for sale during the the first half of 2024, except for the front sizes 120/70 with 19″ fitting and rear 170/60 with 17″ fitting which will arrive in the second half.

However, teammate Alvaro Bautista (Aruba.it Racing – Ducati) faced challenges, finishing tenth as he strategized for the new 2024 weight rules.

In the Kawasaki camp, despite health issues, Alex Lowes (Kawasaki Racing Team WorldSBK) secured the second position with a fastest lap of 1’39.474s, while teammate Axel Bassani finished 14th, familiarising himself with the ZX-10RR setup. Nicolo Bulega | Aruba.it Racing – Ducati
“I had a good feeling today. I could push almost 100%, so this is important. I had fun today with my bike and my team. We are starting to understand each other well, we’re on the right path, and we just need to spend more time on the bike.
Today, I focused on my position on the bike because I need to adapt my body to the bike. We tried some different things to have a good base. Tomorrow, we’ll continue the work we did today, try to keep improving, and maybe improve with used tyres.”

Just Dropped: Atlas 4.0 Street Designs From The Vault

Just Dropped: Atlas 4.0 Street Designs From The VaultFollowing the launch of the ATLAS 4.0 STREET last year, Ruroc has dropped a release of two new additions to the 2024 STREET lineup, restored from original designs in Ruroc’s legendary design vaults and brought back to life on the brand’s latest helmet offering.

Encompassing the exceptional safety standards and core design elements of Ruroc’s flagship ATLAS 4.0 model, the ATLAS 4.0 STREET is now available in the Eagle and El Diablo design; two striking new designs to kick start 2024 in style.  Just Dropped: Atlas 4.0 Street Designs From The Vault

Taking flight from the ATLAS 2.0 and landing right back two generations later, the ATLAS 4.0 STREET EAGLE design is inspired by this apex predator, featuring angular metallic gold details contrasted with its softer, matte-grey feathers. Be careful not to get tangled in the trance of the  EL DIABLO helmet, featuring fiery artwork with red flame details on a matte black shell.Just Dropped: Atlas 4.0 Street Designs From The Vault

Neal Duffy, Ruroc’s Head of Brand, commented, “Since the early days, Ruroc has been a brand synonymous with eye-catching graphics that challenge the limitations of helmet design. We’re always striving to create new opportunities for riders to express themselves, and with the community at the heart of much of our decision-making, we couldn’t ignore the sheer volume of comments to bring back old ATLAS favourites. So, for the latest ATLAS 4.0 STREET, we revisited and updated two of our much-loved historic designs and applied these to the ATLAS 4.0 canvas, creating something entirely classic and fresh at the same time.”Just Dropped: Atlas 4.0 Street Designs From The Vault

IZI’s Ride’ – a unique Custom Shotgun 650

Izi’s Ride’ - A Unique Custom Shotgun 650‘IZI’s Ride’ – a unique Custom Shotgun 650 exclusively designed for Netflix’s new feature film ‘THE KITCHEN’

In late 2021 – Royal Enfield, the world’s oldest motorcycle manufacturer in continual production, was shared the script to a new Netflix film, about to start production; co-directed, co-written and co-produced by Oscar and Golden Globe winning Daniel Kaluuya, with Top Boy’s Kane Robinson, a.k.a Kano in the lead role.

A unique challenge was laid to Royal Enfield – to design a one-of-a-kind motorcycle to perfectly fit into the near-future world of ‘THE KITCHEN’. Set in a dystopian London where inequality is unchecked and social segregation based upon income and racial lines is endemic, Izi (played by Kano) and Benji (played by Jedaiah Bannerman, in his debut role) fight to navigate the world they find themselves in. As life-long residents of ‘The Kitchen’, a community existing in one of London’s last-remaining housing estates that refuses to succumb to demands of oppressive authoritarian forces, Izi and Benji face challenges and questions that will alter their futures forever.

Izi’s Ride’ - A Unique Custom Shotgun 650The Royal Enfield custom build would play an integral part of the film’s narrative, as well as being a source of status, independence and identity to the life of Izi – Kano’s character. And so, in creative collaboration with London based multidisciplinary artist and musician Gaika Tavares (brother of the film’s co-director Kibwe Tavares), the in-house Custom Team at Royal Enfield’s UK Technology Centre began a creative process of conceptual ideation to develop a machine that would feel fully integrated into this unique landscape.

The boundaries of functionality, form and aesthetics were pushed to the nth degree with each of the multiple sub-designs that were brought to the creative table for consideration. Some designs were heavily inspired by iconic sci-fi references, some were more brutalist and neo-retro in their look and feel, and others played homage to certain aspects of cyber-punk film culture and nods to nostalgic street fashion. Through a process of creative refinement and amalgamation, taking cues and inspiration from the various directions – an anarchic custom ‘mutant’ was born.

Built upon the brand-new Shotgun 650 platform, ‘IZI’s Ride’ is a bold tribute to this very culture of customisation embedded into the DNA of the Royal Enfield brand and celebrates the unique sense of individuality that defines any custom build. Paying homage to its precursor, the SG650 Concept (shown for the first time at EICMA 2021) with its neo-dystopian design and radical aesthetics, ‘IZI’s Ride’ pushes the limits to what the customs of tomorrow could potentially look like.Izi’s Ride’ - A Unique Custom Shotgun 650

Custom features developed for ‘IZI’s Ride’ include:

● Front and rear wheel hub covers – rapid prototype
● Monocoque tank & seat unit cover – rapid prototype and milled foam
● Integrated perspex and LED tail lamp
● New sub-frame – fabricated steel
● Replacement side covers – rapid prototype
● Front fork covers with integrated LED lighting – rapid prototyping and milling
● Swingarm covers – rapid prototyping
● Bespoke colour and graphics – paint and vinyl

Izi’s Ride’ - A Unique Custom Shotgun 650Says Adrian Sellers, Head of Royal Enfield’s Custom & Motorsport programme; “We’re really excited to write another chapter in the rapidly evolving story of Royal Enfield design and customisation with ‘IZI’s Ride’. It’s been a real honour and certainly a first for us as a brand to be so prominently involved in a major Netflix film, and to take design inspiration and start the conceptualisation process quite literally from reading the pages of a major film script written by an Oscar winner. To have the opportunity to work with such a wide team of incredible creatives, actors, directors and designers all at the very top of their game was an experience we’ve relished.”

“It is always exciting to design for a ‘what if…’ scenario, to really push the bounds of convention and fulfil a creative brief that’s quite like no other that’s come our way before. The constructed world of ‘The Kitchen’ is so incredibly visceral, and so masterfully engineered by the production and directorial team, that to create a motorcycle that would feel utterly believable and at home within such a future-dystopian environment while at the same time be instantly recognizable in carrying Royal Enfield’s custom DNA was a real challenge. In fact, we ended up creating two identical motorcycles as there were a number of requirements in the script for the bike to be crashed, scraped and generally thrown about. The riding scenes and the stunt work in the film are very impressive, and the film certainly shines a light on various elements of underground bike subcultures which are largely misunderstood. The whole project was wonderfully collaborative and rewarding to develop, requiring the creative input of many different aspects of our internal design team – from Industrial Design to Color Trim and Graphics and CGI – as well as drawing upon the vision and creativity of such a renowned and respected artist as Gaika. Each member contributed their own piece to the puzzle in bringing this iconic build to life.”

Luxury Watches at the Intersection of Motorsport and Style

The art of timekeeping has long been associated with high-performance car racing, and therefore statement watches, for decades. It’s a natural partnership, allowing those wearing watches of this standard to further immerse themselves into the world of motorsports. So-called ‘racing watches’ are designed to be worn and used in the motor sporting world and have acquired a large fanbase over the years. Not only do they boast exquisite design, but also unrivalled technical functionality.

If you want to treat yourself to a luxury watch and learn more about those affiliated with motorsports, keep reading.

Historic ties
Much fo the luxury watch industry has long-term ties with motorsports. Technology evolved from the early pocket watches of the 19th century to the first-class designs we see today.

Racers themselves started to wear high-end watches to enhance the experience due to their extreme technical precision. This laid the foundations for future collaborations between watchmakers and racing teams – which is extremely common today.

Technical precision
Typical features of a motorsport watch include a chronograph used for measuring periods of time, as well as tachymeters that measure the speed of a vehicle over a certain distance. The average speed within the distance can be worked out using this. This typically sits on the bezel around the dial.

On top of this, the design often integrates rally-style racing straps made using rubber or leather so the timepiece remains durable. In a sport such as motor racing, this is an important element. Then, for increased visibility, a high-contrast dial allows for a quick glance to check the time. Speed, after all, is crucial in the motorsports arena.

Brand collaborations
Examples of brand collaborations include TAG Heuer watches, which are notoriously associated with motorsports. Before their watches were at the forefront, they made dashboard timers including the Master Time and Monte Carlo. Rolex is another popular name that has been around since the early days of motor racing.

It was in the 20th century that the watch industry worked extra hard to keep up, with TAG Heuer becoming one of the initial ‘big names’ in motor racing. They began to transition from dashboard timers to wrist chronographs, which appealed hugely to racing drivers between the 1950s and 1960s to the extent that they were regularly used by Formula One teams as their primary timing apparatuses. One of the most famous chronographs was the Monaco, which was worn by Steve McQueen in ‘Le Mans’.

Today, the majority of teams that compete in Formula One have a watch sponsor. Since the beginning of motorsports, watches have been closely associated with it.

Aesthetics and design
While the functionality is important, so too is the design. Details such as racing stripes and carbon fibre dials are sought-after when it comes to aesthetics. Typically motor racing watches are brought to life with a bold colour scheme, while still upholding an air of sophistication.

To conclude…
If you’re looking to invest in a luxury watch with motor sporting influences, you’re spoilt for choice with a huge array of styles and brands at your fingertips. Take your time to research and seek guidance from experts to help you interpret the full extent of its value.

An understanding of how the watch operates and how it can facilitate motor racing will only strengthen your appreciation for it.

Aprilia RS457 – UK Exclusive First Look with Danny

Aprilia Rs457 - Uk Exclusive First Look With Danny

SuperBike News was in attendance at the UK exclusive launch of the all new Aprilia RS457 at Silverstone earlier this month. Danny McFadden went along to take a peek for our readers, here’s what he has to say.

With the RS457 Aprilia look to dominate the A2 sector with  an all new model offering the highest permissible power to weight ratio (35kw > 159kg dry) for the class thanks to the all new 457cc 90 degree parallel twin engine and its aluminium frame. Coupled with class leading electronics of which are all made possible due to its ride by wire throttle system.

Three rider modes regulating power output, torque and traction control selectable using the back-lit switchgear and viewed through its 5” tft dash with the addable dealer options of a quick shifter and the Aprilia MIA communication system. 2 stage selectable ABS should offer the additional feel required during any track based foray.

Aprilia Rs457 - Uk Exclusive First Look With Danny

Braking developed by Brembo yet manufactured through their subsidiary Bybre help to keep the price down and according to Aprilia still manage to produce class leading performance and feel, which is a similar claim with the Showa developed and subsidiary manufactured preload only adjustable suspension. The final specification of which was reached during the models considerable testing programme. Although the final OTR price has yet to be announced it is anticipated to fall below the £7k mark making it a very competitive proposition.

Aprilia Rs457 - Uk Exclusive First Look With Danny

With styling very much in line with its larger siblings (RS660/RSV4) and ergonomics as per the RS660 which also uses widely spaced above the yoke clip ons should offer the ideal compromise between all day usability and performance. Available in 3 colour schemes; Racing stripes and Opalescent light both new themes on the instantly recognisable Aprilia schemes it is however the 3rd option ‘Prismatic dark’ which we believe will take the limelight. A deep and tastefully executed take on the ‘chameleon’ light changing colour paint schemes of yesteryear which coupled with red wheels and accenting decals gave positive ‘Tron’ vibes at the launch.

Overall based on the data and first impressions it looks very much like they’ve nailed their design brief. SuperBike News looks forward to testing the RS457 in due course to find out.Aprilia Rs457 - Uk Exclusive First Look With Danny

Akrapovič and Ducati to Extend Partnership with New Off-Road Collaboration

Akrapovič And Ducati To Extend Partnership With New Off-road CollaborationAkrapovič and Ducati already enjoy a successful relationship in the commercial and racing worlds. Now this alliance is expanding to off-road racing with the announcement that the Slovenian company will supply the official exhaust of the Ducati Corse Off-Road team.

Akrapovič has a strong bond with Ducati Corse, and this partnership witnessed Ducati riders Francesco Bagnaia (MotoGP™), Álvaro Bautista (WorldSBK), and Nicolò Bulega (WorldSSP) win 2023 world championship titles while using Akrapovič exhausts. As part of preparations to defend those titles this season, the official presentation of the 2024 Ducati Lenovo Team and the Aruba.it Racing – Ducati team was held at the Campioni in Pista 2024 event in Madonna di Campiglio, Italy. It was during this prestigious launch that the Ducati Corse Off-Road team also unveiled its plans for the forthcoming season, including that the team will be using Akrapovič exhaust systems.

The Ducati Corse Off-Road programme has been working intensively on the 450 prototype, with nine-time MX World Champion Antonio Cairoli recently joining the team as a high-performance test rider to apply his talent, speed, and experience to provide important feedback and direction for the development of the new motorcycle. The bike will be equipped with an all-new Akrapovič exhaust and will make its debut in the 2024 Italian Motocross Championship. Alessandro Lupino, eight-time Italian Champion and 2021 MXoN winner, will be onboard to validate the technical solutions and development of the bike within the demands of a racing environment.

Akrapovič And Ducati To Extend Partnership With New Off-road CollaborationThe new off-road division of Ducati Corse will deal with the management and organization of the Bologna-based manufacturer’s sporting programme, which will see participation in the MXGP World Championship and the AMA Supercross Championship in the next few years. With an emphasis on high-performance, lightness, and components that can be pushed to the extreme, with an engine supplying a broad power delivery curve, the Ducati Desmo450 MX prototype will use an Akrapovič exhaust system specially designed for the bike that fits these criteria. The use of lightweight titanium and a durable design will ensure the system meets the harsh demands of off-road racing. This bespoke exhaust has been developed with close cooperation between Ducati Corse and Akrapovič engineers to optimize the character of the Ducati’s unique powerplant, while at the same time ensuring the exhaust is compliant with FIM noise regulations.

Akrapovič has taken its wealth of knowledge and experience from racing since its inception in 1991 – which has seen the company celebrate 175 world champions in road and off-road racing – into this programme, and it has utilized its extensive know-how and state-of-the-art technology to produce a high-performance exhaust system for the Ducati Desmo450 MX prototype.Akrapovič And Ducati To Extend Partnership With New Off-road Collaboration

Paolo Ciabatti, General Manager, Ducati Corse Off-Road:
“We are very pleased to have extended Ducati Corse’s long-lasting and successful relationship with Akrapovič also to our exciting new off-road program. Their experience in the development of high-performance titanium exhaust systems has been very beneficial for us, also considering the demanding future FIM noise regulations, in place from 2025 onwards. Therefore we want to thank Akrapovič for their continued support to our racing activities, and we will work hard to bring to success also Ducati Corse Off-Road on the motocross tracks.”

Akrapovič And Ducati To Extend Partnership With New Off-road CollaborationSlavko Alojz Trstenjak, Head of Akrapovič Racing R&D:
“After several years of successful collaboration with Ducati Corse, we’re pleased to also be their number-one choice as a development partner and exhaust system supplier for Ducati’s entry into the motocross programme. In developing the exhaust system’s configuration, which satisfied their demanding racers used to high standards, the Akrapovič Racing R&D department also joined forces with our production exhaust systems R&D. We’ll be following the new team’s performance with great interest, along with the development of their racing bike, for which I’m sure we’ll upgrade the exhaust system even further. Everyone at Akrapovič wishes Ducati a successful start in motocross.”

Ducati Lenovo Team unveils 2024 livery in Madonna di Campiglio

Ducati Lenovo Team Unveils 2024 Livery In Madonna Di CampiglioFor the second consecutive year, the enchanting snow-capped Dolomites served as a backdrop for the official presentation of the Ducati Lenovo Team.

This morning, at the Palacampiglio in Madonna di Campiglio, the squad from Borgo Panigale unveiled the liveries of the Desmosedici GP machines with which they will participate in the 2024 MotoGP World Championship.

The livery, predominantly Ducati Red, features a fluorescent graphic detail that recalls the curve in the Ducati logo. This design element is also present on the fairings of the Panigale V4 R Superbike of the Aruba.it Racing – Ducati team and on the new motocross bikes of the Ducati Corse R&D – Factory MX Team, which were unveiled on stage alongside the MotoGP bikes.
Ducati Lenovo Team Unveils 2024 Livery In Madonna Di CampiglioReigning World Champion Francesco “Pecco” Bagnaia is geared up to defend his Title as he proudly displays the number 1 on the fairing of his Desmosedici GP. Bagnaia will again be partnered with compatriot Enea Bastianini, who is entering his second year with the factory team. In the Superbike category, Alvaro Bautista’s Panigale V4 R, adorned with the number 1, will be accompanied by the Ducati featuring the number 11 of reigning Supersport World Champion Nicolò Bulega, who is making his debut in the category.

During the presentation, held at the “Campioni in Pista” event organized by Ducati in collaboration with Trentino Marketing and the Azienda per il Turismo Madonna di Campiglio (a location linked to Audi since 2013 for the enhancement of the area), and featuring the support of Lenovo, Aruba.it, Audi Sport, Monster Energy, and Shell, the new Ducati Corse Sporting Director, Mauro Grassilli, was officially introduced. Paolo Ciabatti, the new General Manager of Ducati Corse Off-Road Division, took the stage to present for the first time the Ducati’s new motocross bikes, which will be entrusted to the nine-time Motocross World Champion Tony Cairoli and Alessandro Lupino.

Everything is set for an exciting start to the new MotoGP season from 6th-8th February in Malaysia, where the Ducati Lenovo Team riders will make their first track appearance for 2024 in the official test session at Sepang.
Ducati Lenovo Team Unveils 2024 Livery In Madonna Di CampiglioClaudio Domenicali (CEO Ducati Motor Holding)
“It is a great pleasure to inaugurate another Ducati racing season in Madonna di Campiglio, a location that perfectly expresses the values of ‘Made in Italy’ of which we are proud ambassadors and which last year represented the starting point of an unforgettable season. The path that has led us to be the best in the world in racing is undoubtedly made up of the hard daily work of these years, but also of our ability to work as a team and have fun while putting our maximum effort into what we do. One of the strong elements of our brand is the ability to create a system and today we demonstrate this by jointly presenting the official teams for the 2024 racing season: the Ducati Lenovo Team, the Aruba.it – Racing Ducati Team and the novelty represented by the Ducati Corse R&D – Factory MX Team . Seeing the three bikes next to each other was a great emotion for me because, although different from each other, they are part of a single project. This belonging is underlined by the basic colour of the liveries, Ducati Red, the same for all, and also by a completely new graphic sign that recalls the curve present in the Ducati logo, inspired by the most exciting part of riding a motorbike: the bend. At the same time, these bikes are also an expression of the path that Ducati has taken in recent years, investing in its future. The entry into motocross is in fact the clear example that our will to improve and our desire to win have no limits. In these two days we will have the opportunity to give ourselves the right energy for a season that promises to be full of challenges, in which we will try to confirm our leadership in the main track racing world championships and demonstrate our capabilities in a new terrain such as specialist off-road. Challenges have always encouraged us to bring out the best and we feel absolutely ready.”

Luigi Dall’Igna (Ducati Corse General Manager)
“I am delighted to be back in Madonna di Campiglio to present our MotoGP and WorldSBK teams as World Champions. 2023 was truly an unforgettable year, and now we’re here to kick off the new season and embrace the challenges that lie ahead in 2024. In MotoGP, the Ducati Lenovo Team will feature World Champion Pecco Bagnaia alongside Enea Bastianini again. Unfortunately, Bastianini couldn’t showcase his full potential last year due to numerous injuries, but we are optimistic about his performance this season. In Superbike, the Aruba.it Racing – Ducati team, led by Alvaro Bautista on the Panigale V4 R with the number 1, will also line up the reigning Supersport World Champion, Nicolò Bulega, who is making his debut in the category. We couldn’t have asked for a better lineup to face the challenges of this intense 2024 season in both World Championships. We are aware that the other constructors are working hard, and I anticipate an even higher level of competition. However, I am confident that, thanks to the dedication of the Ducati Corse team during this short winter break, we will be well-prepared to defend the titles we earned last season.”
Ducati Lenovo Team Unveils 2024 Livery In Madonna Di CampiglioLuca Rossi, President of Lenovo’s Intelligent Devices Group
“Embarking on a new MotoGP season alongside Ducati Corse fills us with tremendous excitement. In the last few years, the Ducati Lenovo Team has been nothing short of phenomenal, achieving remarkable milestones, notably winning the Rider’s World Championship for two consecutive years with Francesco Bagnaia. This season, the battle for the Title will be even harder. Still, we believe in the dedication and expertise of each member of the Team, as well as in the qualities of our talented riders, who have demonstrated to be able to face challenges with the spirit of true champions. We’re proud to stand by their side doing what we do best: nurture innovation, improve performance, and help every person to unleash their utmost potential.”

Francesco Bagnaia (#1, Ducati Lenovo Team):
“I’m thrilled to kick off my fourth season with the Ducati Lenovo Team. The last test in Valencia provided positive feedback, giving us a solid foundation for the upcoming season’s development work. I’m eager to hit the track and pick up where we left off. It’s bound to be a challenging season, but we’re ready to face it with our usual determination. As a close-knit team, we’ll give our best to aim for the Championship once again.”
Ducati Lenovo Team Unveils 2024 Livery In Madonna Di CampiglioEnea Bastianini (#23, Ducati Lenovo Team):
“2023 was a challenging year, and I look forward to redeeming myself in the upcoming season. We have an exciting 2024 ahead of us. Despite participating in only a few Grands Prix last year, I’ve learned valuable lessons that I’ll carry into the new season. I have great confidence in my Team, and I know we have all the potential to do well. I can’t wait to hit the track and start the new season.”

The riders of the Ducati Lenovo Team, along with those from the Aruba.it Racing – Ducati team and the Ducati Corse R&D – Factory MX Team, will be present this afternoon in the centre of Madonna di Campiglio, in Piazza Sissi at 5:00pm to meet all the fans and supporters. Entertainment provided by Monster Energy will accompany the event.

Throughout the two days of Campioni in Pista, in addition to enjoying the breathtaking ski slopes of the Pearl of the Dolomites, the riders will also have the opportunity to experience thrills on four wheels by participating in the Audi Driving Experience on the frozen lake of Madonna in Campiglio.

Motobox Kremer Racing reveals its four for EWC 2024

Motobox Kremer Racing Reveals Its Four For Ewc 2024Motobox Kremer Racing will continue to showcase the strength and competitiveness of independent teams competing in the FIM Endurance World Championship with its revamped line-up for the 2024 season.

The Yamaha-powered outfit, run by Georg Haas and Manfred Kremer, has re-signed Daniel Rubin after the German rider impressed during his maiden Formula EWC campaign in 2023, and secured the services of three new recruits all from Germany.

But while Marco Fetz and Dominik Vincon bring EWC experience to Motobox Kremer Racing, reserve rider Bastian Ubl is a newcomer to the series.

“The EWC is a dream come true for me,” said 22-year-old Ubl, who will combine his EWC commitments with a season in the Internationale Deutsche Motorradmeisterschaft-based Pro Superstock Cup 1000. “My goal is clearly to learn, gain a foothold and have a look at the whole EWC. Of course, it would be a highlight for me if I could move up and get a place in the main race but, first and foremost, I support the team with my role as fourth rider. Everything that comes on top is the cherry on the cake.”

Motobox Kremer Racing Reveals Its Four For Ewc 2024With a season of EWC competition on his CV, Rubin, 25, believes he’s better equipped to take on the challenge of racing by day and by night. “Now that I know the tracks, I really want to pick up where I left off last year,” Rubin said. “Overall, I’m hoping for good races and a strong final position for the team. One or two places further up would certainly be nice. Four German riders in a German team, it’s great that it’s worked out this way. I’m delighted to have Dominik and Marco as my team-mates for the races. I really hope we’ll form a good team and progress together.”

For 24-year-old Fetz, his switch to Motobox Kremer Racing means a step up from the Superstock-based FIM Endurance World Cup to the headlining FIM Endurance World Championship. “I would like to thank the team for the trust they have placed in me and giving me the opportunity to contest a full season with them,” he said. “After my first endurance experience last year at the 24 Heures Motos, it was immediately clear that it would hopefully not be the last time for me. Of course, another big thank you to my sponsors, who support me so much, I’m very grateful for that.

“We’re an all-German team and know each other well. It’s important at the start of the season that we get to grips with the Yamaha R1 and find the right set-up. But I am very positive. Dani and Domi are riders who already have a lot more experience than me, at least as far as the EWC is concerned. In any case, I can hardly wait for the first tests to start and I’m highly motivated to work with the team.”Motobox Kremer Racing Reveals Its Four For Ewc 2024

Motobox Kremer Racing rider Daniel Rubin: “Four German riders in a German team, it’s great that it’s worked out this way”

Vincon, who works as an engineer for Porsche when he’s not racing in the EWC, transfers from Team LRP Poland to Motobox Kremer Racing. “I’m very happy with the situation because I’m really looking forward to the Yamaha R1,” said the 32-year-old. “The bike has so much potential, which I could already recognise last year when I was able to ride several stints behind Daniel on the Motobox Yamaha at Le Mans. I’m particularly looking forward to the adventure in Suzuka. Racing there has always been a dream of mine. We are a strong team, so I am hoping for regular top 10 positions this season. The team’s experience in the Endurance World Championship is gigantic, so I’m full of anticipation.”

After helping Motobox Kremer Racing to 11th position in the 2023 FIM Endurance World Championship for Teams by scoring points in all four races, Geoffroy Dehaye and Christian Napoli have completed their tenure with the established outfit.

The countdown is on: 2024 is just around the apex

The Countdown Is On: 2024 Is Just Around The ApexFrom team presentations to pre-season testing, new regulations and sustainable fuel, get ready for 2024

The countdown to the season opener in Qatar is on, but between now and our return to Lusail International Circuit from the 8th to the 10th of March, there’s plenty of MotoGP™ to look forward to. The first headline event of the season goes to Gresini Racing MotoGP™ as the Independent squad are the first to roll out their 2024 colours, in their case those ready to be raced by their blockbuster Marc Marquez-Alex Marquez line-up. That’s on Saturday the 20th of January.

With a host of moves for 2024 – and a superstar fresh face joining the grid as Pedro Acosta lands at GASGAS Factory Racing Tech3 – the team presentations will be our first glimpse of all the new line-ups and colours. We’ll also get to see the race livery of the new Trackhouse Racing MotoGP™ team as they prepare to take on the world’s most exciting sport. The full calendar of presentations was revealed recently, so take a look through, with Gresini first up and Prima Pramac bringing the curtain down. The Countdown Is On: 2024 Is Just Around The Apex

Track action and pre-season testing gets underway with the Sepang Shakedown from the 1st to the 3rd of February. This season it’s a blockbuster too, with Honda and Yamaha able to field their race riders to test alongside the rookie and factory test riders. In the case of Honda, that includes the Independent LCR Team: new arrival Johann Zarco (CASTROL Honda LCR) and long-time competitor Takaaki Nakagami (IDEMITSU Honda LCR). How? The new concession system has already come into effect. Below is where each factory stands and what they get, or don’t get, as we begin 2024. It gets re-assessed for the first time in summer! The Countdown Is On: 2024 Is Just Around The Apex

That’s not the only key change in regulations. A more sustainable era also starts now: from 2024, fuel for all Grand Prix classes must be of minimum 40% non-fossil origin. This was first announced in 2021, and 2024 is only the first step. By 2027, all fuels in all Grand Prix classes must be 100% non-fossil origin.

Every premier class manufacturer has worked with their supplier to develop their own, and Moto2™ and Moto3™ are supplied by official fuel supplier PETRONAS. As the pinnacle of two wheels, MotoGP™ is a perfect platform to develop these more sustainable, drop-in fuels, and with no single proprietor, the initiative can create truly global impact.

After the Shakedown gives us a first glimpse this year of these fuels in action, Monster Energy Yamaha MotoGP™ reveal their 2024 livery as Alex Rins suits up alongside 2021 Champion Fabio Quartararo. The Sepang Test will then welcome the whole grid to the track for the first time this season, with three full days of testing action to take place from the 6th to the 8th of February. Then it’s reveal time for Red Bull KTM Factory Racing, Repsol Honda Team, Honda LCR and Aprilia Racing ahead of another two full days of testing – this time at Lusail International Circuit for the Qatar Test. Finally, it’s Prima Pramac’s turn to take the covers off before we begin the final countdown to racing in our 75th anniversary season.

It’s not season number 75, it’s a celebration of 75 years. The chequered flag at the 2023 finale saw MotoGP™ complete 75 full seasons of competition since the world’s most exciting sport was born in 1949, and we’ve got plenty in store to celebrate. There’s even an all-new 75th anniversary page to check out some of the best content from then and now. More will be added throughout this historic season.

So let’s go! Get suited and booted for a record-breaking 2024 calendar and join us throughout the next few weeks as the countdown continues.

BMW Motorrad presents the R 18 One Eight “C”

Bmw Motorrad Presents The R 18 One Eight “c”

Custom motorcycle visionary Paul Yaffe has raised the bar once again with the revelation of his latest masterpiece, a one-of-a-kind customization of the BMW R 18 Transcontinental.

Melding classic hot rod aesthetics with the distinctive BMW essence, this project is a testament to Yaffe’s excellence as a designer.

A legend of the US customizing scene:
Since 1991, the custom motorcycle world has known Paul Yaffe as one of the elite creators of motorized masterpieces. That’s because Paul is more than a builder or fabricator, he is truly a designer. Beginning with the establishment of American Legend Motorcycle Company, which later evolved into Paul Yaffe’s Bagger Nation, he has earned accolades such as three “World’s Most Beautiful Motorcycle” awards from the Oakland Roadster Show, two “Builder of Year” and three “Trendsetter of the Year” awards from Easyriders Magazine, as well as becoming an inductee into the Sturgis Hall of Fame in 2015. His custom bikes have been featured in over 300 magazine articles worldwide as well as on the Discovery channel, the History channel, and other television shows. His products, distributed through a network of partners in six countries, continue to inspire a generation of customizers.

Now, Paul Yaffe reveals his latest masterpiece — a one-of-a-kind customization of the BMW R 18 Transcontinental, which will debut at the MBE Show in Verona, Italy.

Preserving BMW Essence and Hot Rod Inspiration.
Before getting started, Paul spent time getting to know the BMW R18 Transcontinental, riding 3800 miles across the USA, and additional 2600 miles to Sturgis and back.

Once the customization process began, Paul knew he wanted to create a big wheel bagger like no one had ever seen. Crucial to the project was retaining as many original BMW components as possible. Paul wanted his custom creation to remain authentically BMW and knew that it should not be made from or look anything like parts from his existing product line.

He commissioned a 26” x 5.5” front wheel cut from a 400lb block of solid aluminium, which holds a handmade 180mm wide front tire. The frame had to be stretched and raked to accommodate the new front wheel and special triple trees had to be engineered to correct the trail measurement and optimize handling.

Embracing the look of an iconic 50’s Mercury Lead Sled the team crafted several
one-of-a-kind components and modified existing R 18 elements. The steel front fender was made from scratch. The original R 18 fairing was cut into several pieces and restructured to correct headlight position and flow into the new front wheel. To address the gap between the fairing and the fuel tank a unique chin spoiler was developed, strategically concealing the radiator. Additionally, an exclusive set of Yaffe Monkey Bars was crafted to complement the overall design.

“The team wanted to retain the saddlebag lids, latches and speakers so a new set of ‘skins’ was created to give the bags a completely new and unique stretched profile while retaining the excellent engineering and functionality that BMW had created for them.” Paul’s team extended the original rear fender by crafting a second R 18 rear fender, ensuring it seamlessly matched the profile of the new saddlebags.

As the build began to take shape, Yaffe rearranged the original R 18 taillights into the handmade filler panels and worked an area for the license plate into the fender in classic hot rod styling. He also stretched the original R 18 side covers to retain their original shape and cover more area to help the eye flow into the bags.

Classic Lead Sled Look.
Staying true to the classic Lead Sled aesthetic, Yaffe prioritized two crucial components: air suspension and side pipes.

Paul and his team designed a sophisticated air tank and distribution system as well as a dedicated frame beneath each side of the saddlebags to accommodate essential components, including the necessary air storage tanks, a sizable air compressor and all the controls, valving and solenoids necessary for the effective support and operation of the system.

Turning their focus to the side pipe design the fabrication team aimed to preserve the distinctive “BMW feel” that sets this build apart. Retaining the classic Boxer head pipes was non-negotiable in Paul’s vision. The catalytic converters were removed from the head pipes making way for a bespoke perforated high-flow baffle system. This innovation not only replaced the restrictive emissions system but also retained essential back pressure for optimal performance. To further enhance the auditory experience a precision-crafted
3-step muffler system was introduced for reversion. The final touch was a wide-open megaphone, delivering that quintessential classic hot rod sound.

It all comes down to cosmetics.
Shifting focus to cosmetics Paul wanted a classic hot rod feel without any distracting graphics, highlighting the bike’s elegant new stance and profile. The emphasis was on simplicity and allure. “We went to work perfecting all the fabricated body panels and smoothing everything to a glass-like finish.” After settling on a timeless deep gloss black finish, the team’s attention turned to achieving perfection for the body. Paul tasked his dedicated painter Hector Martinez, with applying the flawless gloss black paint. Recognizing the need for contrast, Paul decided on a classic ochs blood red interior. The art is in finding the perfect balance. “The trick is not to overdo it!” Guys Upholstery created the contemporary-style saddle and dash console and Hector mixed up a colour for the front callipers to match. “We think it came out spectacular!”

BMW Motorrad crowns its 100th anniversary with the strongest sales result

Bmw Motorrad Crowns Its 100th Anniversary With The Strongest Sales ResultBMW Motorrad crowns its 100th anniversary with the strongest sales result in the company’s history.

In its anniversary year, BMW Motorrad delivered 209,257 motorcycles and scooters to customers, 3.1% more than in the previous year and the highest sales volume in the company’s history. The regions of Europe, Asia and Latin America in particular made a significant contribution to BMW Motorrad’s record sales volume with record sales figures. Germany and North America also contributed to the record result with strong sales. The convincing product portfolio with successful offerings that characterise their respective segments and the market launch of popular new models such as the
high-powered BMW M 1000 R or the touring enduro icon BMW R 1300 GS were strong arguments for the successful performance in 2023.

Markus Flasch, Head of BMW Motorrad: “I would like to thank our customers all over the world for the great trust they have placed in us again in 2023. With a record result in our anniversary year, BMW Motorrad remains the world’s number one in the premium motorcycle and scooter segment and once again demonstrates the brand’s successful strategic orientation. Our market leadership in numerous segments is based on innovation leadership, our highly attractive product range and our strong brand. Based on these three main success factors, BMW Motorrad is ideally positioned and I am very confident about the year 2024.”

Solid sales in Europe with record growth in Eastern Europe.
With 116,012 (+ 4.7 %) motorcycles and scooters sold, Europe as a whole remained by far the strongest sales region for BMW Motorrad. Germany remained the strongest individual market with 24,176 units (+ 0.2 %), followed by France (21,668 units / + 2.1 %), Italy (16,179 units / + 3.3 %) and Spain (12,716 units / + 1.7 %). Eastern Europe also contributed to BMW Motorrad’s very pleasing overall European performance with sales of 6,000 units, a record increase of 105.4 % and more than double the previous year’s figure.

China, India, Brazil and Mexico made a significant contribution to this success.
In other regions, several countries ended the year with record sales. In Asia (47,061 units / + 1.6 %), both China (15,832 units / + 2.8 %) and India (8,768 units / + 20.4 %) achieved their best results to date. Brazil, with record sales of 14,106 vehicles (+ 8.1 %), and Mexico (7,088 units / + 6.8 %) also made a significant contribution to BMW Motorrad’s record result.

The R 1250 GS and GS Adventure, along with the highly successful new R 1300 GS, lead the way.
The boxer models R 1250 GS and R 1250 GS Adventure also delivered their customary strong performance, with sales of around 56,000 units. Together with the new R 1300 GS (4,528 units), which has been on sale since autumn 2023, the three GS models once again made a significant contribution to BMW Motorrad’s record sales of 60,535 units (+1.62%).

Sporty four-cylinder models with undiminished dynamism.
The fascination with performance and riding dynamics also resulted in a positive sales trend for the sporty four-cylinder models from BMW Motorrad. With 11,442 units sold
(+ 13.9%), the S 1000 RR underlined its top position and market leadership in the supersport bike segment, while the M 1000 R hyper roadster exceeded all expectations with 3,655 units delivered to customers. Together with the S 1000 R, the S 1000 XR and the exclusive M 1000 RR, 25,194 units (+ 7.5 %) of the high-performance four-cylinder models were delivered to customers worldwide.

BMW Motorrad also achieved top performance in the mid-range segment and in the BMW Motorrad segment of up to 500 cc.
With a total of 62,834 units sold (+ 3.2 %), the F series with two-cylinder engines and the G models with single-cylinder engines also made a significant contribution to
BMW Motorrad’s record result. The F 750 GS, which is particularly popular with new customers, was a particular highlight, with 11,064 units sold (+ 15.6 %).

Clear market leadership for the CE 04 and strong performance of BMW Motorrad’s Urban Mobility range.
With a share of around 70 % in the global market for all-electric motorcycles and scooters with an output of more than 11 kW, the CE 04 has secured itself the undisputed market leadership. With 7,177 units delivered, the expressive electric scooter exceeded the previous year’s deliveries by 44 %. Supplemented by the two successful scooters
C 400 GT and C 400 X, the Urban Mobility segment of BMW Motorrad achieved a sales volume of 20,460 units, which corresponds to an increase of 17.9 % compared to the previous year.

Optimistic outlook for 2024.
Stephan Reiff, Head of Sales and Brand: “The sales record in our anniversary year is both an honour and an obligation. With numerous new, innovative models and products for our customers, we at BMW Motorrad will do everything in our power to build on this record year in 2024 and further consolidate our leading position in the premium segment. Our new GS models in particular will play an important role here. This year, our customers and fans can once again look forward to numerous world premieres, highlights, events and emotionally charged motorcycles offers.”

BMW Motorrad Motorsport Team Presentation

Bmw Motorrad Motorsport Team PresentationBMW Motorrad Motorsport Team Presentation: The 2024 WorldSBK kickoff takes place in the BMW Motorrad Welt in Berlin.

About five weeks before the season opener, BMW Motorrad Motorsport presented the 2024 WorldSBK line-up to the public in Berlin. The two teams, the ROKiT BMW Motorrad WorldSBK Team and the Bonovo action BMW Racing Team, as well as the four BMW Motorrad WorldSBK factory riders Toprak Razgatlioglu (TUR), Michael van der Mark (NED), Scott Redding (GBR), and Garrett Gerloff (USA), unveiled their BMW M 1000 RR superbikes for the WorldSBK 2024.

On Tuesday, Razgatlioglu, van der Mark, Redding, and Gerloff were guests at the BMW Motorrad Plant, and during an exclusive autograph session, the employees had the opportunity to personally meet their racing colleagues from the BMW Motorrad family. On Wednesday, the four BMW Motorrad WorldSBK factory riders gained closer insights into the production of the bikes, including their racing machines, during a tour of the plant.

The actual team presentation took place afterwards in BMW Motorrad World, the new “Home of the Brand” in Berlin, opened in autumn 2023. The official start of the 2024 WorldSBK occurred with the unveiling of the BMW M 1000 RR superbikes, which Razgatlioglu, van der Mark, Redding, and Gerloff will ride in the upcoming season with the ROKiT BMW Motorrad WorldSBK Team and the Bonovo action BMW Racing Team.

A special feature of the team presentation in Berlin was that in addition to invited guests, fans also had the opportunity to witness the event live on-site. Many of them seized the opportunity, secured the coveted free tickets for the event, and could personally interact with the four BMW Motorrad WorldSBK factory riders during the subsequent autograph session.

In preparation for the 2024 season, BMW Motorrad Motorsport, the two teams, and the riders will be back on the track soon. The next test sessions will take place at Jerez de la Frontera, Spain, on January 24th and 25th. The first race weekend of the season is scheduled from February 23rd to 25th at Phillip Island (AUS).

Quotes after the Team Presentation in Berlin.
Marc Bongers, BMW Motorrad Motorsport Director: “First of all, I would like to thank everyone involved in the organisation. It was an absolutely cool event here at BMW Motorrad Welt. It was very nice to show the team managers and riders what we do here in Berlin. We haven’t done this in this form before. The atmosphere among all involved was fantastic, and that is also extremely important for performance because we have this one team mentality. The presentation itself in BMW Motorrad Welt was also very successful. I am confident for the new season. We still need a few tests; last year, we didn’t necessarily have the best conditions but we have prepared a lot of things. Now there is not much time left until Phillip Island. Although the first two events take place on tracks that haven’t necessarily been our strong suit in the past, I am still optimistic that we will have a good start, carry this positive energy into the first races and through the entire season.”

Shaun Muir (Team Principal ROKiT BMW Motorrad WorldSBK Team): “First of all it is an outstanding venue for such a presentation. It think it really captures the spirit of what BMW Motorrad are trying to achieve here so I am super proud to be part of that. The tour around the plant was sensational. A big round of applause to all the guys, everyone in the factory; they really welcomed us. Moving on to the championship as such, I think it is absolutely clear that the combination of Michael and Toprak brings some special qualities. I think that is something we are really looking forward to working with. Already we can see what Toprak requires in terms of a package and a bike. It is a little bit different, not an awful lot, we just need to steer in a slightly different direction to give Toprak what he needs. And I say that in terms of letting him amplify his strengths which is hard on the brakes, corner entry, balance on the bike, something we know the BMW M 1000 RR can work well with. We want to put ourselves in a strong position, we want to compete for the podium in Australia. Can we get a podium? It’s a tough question, but Toprak’s personal aims are that he thinks he can and we give him all the support to do that. Michael has missed large parts of the past two seasons, and he does not underestimate what he is up against but he is definitely up for that challenge. I feel that Toprak can bring a lot of strengths out of Michael. I am looking forward to seeing that because we saw how good Michael can be when things go well. The bike is getting better, there is a development team behind us. From where the project started in 2019 to where we are now is night and day. I hope we can take advantage of that and get our rewards.”

Michael Galinski (Team Manager Bonovo action BMW Racing Team): “The team presentation was truly impressive. Many people attended, and it was very interesting at the BMW Motorrad plant and in the BMW Motorrad Welt. It was my first time at the plant itself, and it was fascinating to see the engine department and how all the motorcycles are assembled. It was great to take a behind-the-scenes look and also to present ourselves here as a team. We are very happy with our rider duo. They are two real top riders. Scott is the Vice World Champion, Garrett had a very strong second half of the season last year. Our goal is to move further forward, and with the BMW Motorrad family, this is certainly possible this season. So much manpower has been added that we are really happy now. Of course, we still need a bit of time, but we are confident that we will move forward this year.”

Garrett Gerloff (#31 BMW M 1000 RR, Bonovo action BMW Racing Team): “It has been exciting. There has been a really cool energy here at Berlin. It’s great to be in Berlin, it’s really nice to see all the amazing people that work here in the plant, that develop and produce the BMW M 1000 RR that we race. So it’s really cool to have the team presentation here. It has been really nice to see Scott, Toprak and Michael and to get together after a couple of months of holidays and seeing family and friends. I can tell that we are all excited to get back on the track and to start testing again. In just over a month we are going to be racing in Australia. Everything is going to happen really fast from here on but I’ve been doing my part to make sure that I am ready for the season and I am excited to get started. I think we have a really good base now. I have one year behind me with BMW Motorrad Motorsport and the Bonovo action BMW Racing Team, so a lot of information and I think we can come up with solutions faster than last year if we do have a problem. It is going to be good to go the every track with a higher potential, and I think it can be a really good season. My goal is to work on qualifying and to be a bit better there and that can help me in the beginning of the races and then at the end of the races, when I am strong, I think we can make some real progress and be up front.”

Toprak Razgatlioglu (#54 BMW M 1000 RR, ROKiT BMW Motorrad WorldSBK Team): “I am very happy to join the BMW Motorrad family. When I arrived at Berlin on Monday and left the airport I was really surprised because everyone spoke Turkish. Also at the plant, there a so many Turkish employees. I am very happy for this. In general, I am very positive. Especially today, there were a lot of people and I understand that a lot of people like me. A lot of people came here to see me, also many Turkish guys, and a lot of them came from very far away. Everyone can’t wait for the season, and that also goes for me. My focus is now on the season. I realized that the people believe in me, but it is important that you believe in your bike. Many people say that the BMW is not ready to fight for the championship but I believe that my bike is ready to fight for wins and the championship. We just need my setup, because my riding style is complete different. When we have this, we can easily fight for the win. Now I am just focusing on the test next week. It is really important for me. I need to adapt to the bike and I believe that we can fight for the podium and the wins this season. I am excited. I signed with BMW but I am also a part of the family. This is something I saw today again and it is great. I will give more than 100 percent, I will try to win with BMW. Everyone is working hard and this is a great extra motivation also for me. If we keep doing this, we will win the World Championship.”

Scott Redding (#45 BMW M 1000 RR, Bonovo action BMW Racing Team): “It’s good to come here to Berlin. To come into the plant and to see how everything is made is always interesting, seeing the people in action at their work is always good. It’s also very interesting to see where the engines are built and how they do it, so it’s really nice to be here and to witness how everything is made. A launch is also always great, to unveil the colours of the bikes and the suites, together with the team-mates and the teams. Speaking about the coming season, for me it would be nice to have our bike to be more consistently competitive which I think we can do. We’ve had some good changes made and obviously Toprak is coming over. We also have a test team which makes a big difference. I think we are going in the right direction, which is important. It would be nice to stand on the podium again this year and more frequently, and to try to make our bad weekends not so bad and have a good, consistent year.”

Michael van der Mark (#60 BMW M 1000 RR, ROKiT BMW Motorrad WorldSBK Team): “It’s nice to start the season, it’s great to be here in Berlin. We all know that BMW is a big company but we got a nice tour through the plant and I must say that it is really impressive. It was also great to see where they prepare the race engines and I am really ready to start the season. I can’t wait to go testing again, I feel one hundred percent fit, I got a new teammate that seems to be really fast – so I am looking forward to it. Like I said, I am fit again, the bike is getting better and better, Toprak is pushing the project even more and I think we want to win races and be on the podium as soon as possible.”

Motorcycle Highlights to See at The Grandes Marques du Monde à Paris’ Sale

Bonhams|Cars will present over 30 impressive motorcycles at the ‘Grandes Marques du Monde à Paris’ Sale on February 1, 2024. The sale marks the motorcycle department’s return to the Grand Palais Éphémère, located in the historic heart of Paris on the Champ-de-Mars, following last year’s highly successful sale of the Dr. Peter and Ulrike Bühner Collection – one of the most important private collections of pioneer motorcycles in Europe.

This year’s sale will also showcase a striking selection, featuring an array of Italian Grand Prix machines from the 1950s and 60s. Highlights include:

1957 Parilla 250cc Bialbero Racing Motorcycle estimated at €40,000 – €60,000

A 1957 Parilla 250cc Bialbero Racing Motorcycle estimated at €40,000 – €60,000. A 350 ‘double-knocker’ was introduced in 1950 and the bialbero Parillas gave a good account of themselves in the Italian long-distance races of the day as well as at Grand Prix level. Development of the single-cylinder 250 continued into the later 1950s. This restored Parilla 250 Bialbero was discovered in the USA and purchased there from its enthusiast owner.

The Bonhams Motorcycle Department are pleased to present another outstanding selection of motorcycles at the Le Grand Palais Éphémère especially given how rare and unusual it is to have such a wide selection of Italian grand prix motorcycles consigned. The sale follows hot on the heels of the Motorcycles Online – The January Sale, running from 12–22 January and will then be followed up by the forthcoming spring sale at The International Classic MotorCycle Show in Stafford on 20-21 April, one of the early headline lots for which is a genuine 1949 Vincent-HRD 998cc Black Lightning.
