New-for-2025 Ducati Scrambler models: the Icon Dark and the new Full Throttle

New-for-2025 Ducati Scrambler Models: The Icon Dark And The New Full ThrottleWith a new appointment in the Ducati World Première 2025, Ducati has unveiled two new proposals for the Ducati Scrambler family to the public.

The Icon Dark, the most essential and modern model in the range, is designed for those who love the purest essence of the Ducati Scrambler and for those looking for a bike with clean lines and a lot of character.

The Full Throttle is updated in colour, with a livery that accentuates its post-heritage charm, harking back to the colours of racing vehicles from the 1970s.New-for-2025 Ducati Scrambler Models: The Icon Dark And The New Full Throttle

Scrambler Icon Dark
The Icon Dark is the model that expresses the purest essence of Ducati Scrambler. A bike that eliminates the superfluous through its dark black looks, combining the minimal elegance of the second generation of Ducati Scrambler with the fun, light-hearted and free spirit of the Land of Joy, of which it represents the gateway model.

The essential and pure design enhances the timeless charm of the Dark liveries of Borgo Panigale bikes. A bike that encourages you to express your personality even more, ready to interpret the tastes and needs of each enthusiast using its livery to play with the customization possibilities that have always been a fundamental pillar of the Ducati Scrambler world.

The iconic teardrop tank, the distinctive element of Scrambler, in its total black livery creates a play of shades between the different materials, taken up by other details such as the front mudguard and the conveyors. The Ducati Scrambler logo on the Dark Stealth tank is more modern and in line with the aggressiveness of the matt black. The essential side panels and sporty tail fairing make the Dark line even lighter and sleeker.New-for-2025 Ducati Scrambler Models: The Icon Dark And The New Full Throttle

Scrambler Full Throttle
The Scrambler Full Throttle is the sportiest proposal in the Ducati Scrambler range and is inspired by US Flat Track competitions on dirt ovals. The side number plates reprise the livery and bear the number 62 – 1962 was the year of the debut of the first Ducati Scrambler – in perfect Tracker style and, together with the sump guard, define a decidedly more aggressive look for those who do not want to go unnoticed.

The sporty character of the 2025 Full Throttle is underlined by the seat upholstery and the black and bronze heritage livery, a colour also taken up by the aluminium rims, inspired by 1970s racing motorcycles and cars, and the black finish of the exhaust heat shields and front side covers.

The lowered handlebar with variable section, a short front mudguard, a tail without the rear mudguard enhance the Tracker soul of the Full Throttle, embellished by the homologated Termignoni silencer, Ducati Performance LED indicators* and Ducati Quick Shift up/down as standard.

Bagnaia holds off Martin as the title fight tightens up again at Motegi

Bagnaia Holds Off Martin As The Title Fight Tightens Up Again At MotegiThe #1 stays cool under pressure and the #89 too as Acosta crashes out and Marquez vs Bastianini goes the other way on Sunday.

Francesco Bagnaia (Ducati Lenovo Team) held firm at the front at the Motul Grand Prix of Japan, taking the lead and keeping his nerve as key title rival Jorge Martin (Prima Pramac Racing) applied the pressure throughout. With the #1 taking the win ahead of the impressive charge up the order from P11 for Martin, it’s now just 10 points in it at the top of the table.

Behind, Marc Marquez (Gresini Racing MotoGP™) turned the tables on Saturday duelling partner Enea Bastianini (Ducati Lenovo Team), taking another podium finish and keeping those two locked together in the standings too.

Bagnaia nailed the start but polesitter Pedro Acosta (Red Bull GASGAS Tech3) stayed aggressive to try and take the holeshot, coming up just short and wide enough to let Bagnaia through. Brad Binder (Red Bull KTM Factory Racing) got a good launch up into third, with Enea Bastianini (Ducati Lenovo Team) just behind, and Marc Marquez and Martin once again got great launches from further back to immediately put themselves in contention.Bagnaia Holds Off Martin As The Title Fight Tightens Up Again At Motegi

Fireworks started there nearly immediately as a huge shuffle kicked off, with Binder slightly wide, Bastianini going for that gap and Marquez trying to create another, the end result of which a couple of apexes later was actually Binder back ahead and Martin having picked his way through to fourth. Then Marquez went for Bastianini but Jack Miller (Red Bull KTM Factory Racing) went for both.

Once that had been settled – for the moment – Marquez was back past Miller into fourth and Bastianini made it through not long after. Next, Marquez made a divebomb on Binder to take over in what had become third – with Martin up into second as drama had hit up ahead for Acosta.

Out the final corner, the Rookie of the Year just overcooked it and slid out from behind Bagnaia, losing the chance at his first MotoGP™ win from his first MotoGP™ pole. That put Martin into second from P11 on the grid, but new race leader Bagnaia now held a 1.5 second advantage. Lap by lap, however, that began to come down.

Meanwhile, Bastianini was on the back of Binder looking for a way through, and that proved hard to find. After a couple of attempts parried by the South African, the Italian finally managed to slice through at Turn 3 and take over in fourth – just as the white flag went out.

Yet, the rain largely stayed at bay. Enough for Bagnaia and Martin to keep the hammer absolutely down at the front, with the #1 seeming in control until the charge really started to seem ominous. It went down to one second, then eight tenths, as Martin homed in, but the #89 said a moment on the front end made him take stock. 20 points for a 10-point lead and no Sunday errors? Not priceless, but definitely a good buy.Bagnaia Holds Off Martin As The Title Fight Tightens Up Again At Motegi

Bastianini continued to bother Marquez in the fight for third, but the #23 just couldn’t quite get within striking distance. After the eight-time World Champion had headed wide earlier in the race, Bastianini had closed up but the gap was a concertina round the lap – from seven tenths back down to just under half a second, with no option to try a move.

Up ahead, Bagnaia kept it cool to hit back in the title fight and take his eighth win of the season, making 2024 his best year in terms of wins and bringing that gap back down to 10 points ahead of the final four race weekends of the year. But Martin’s charge from P11 on the grid was also a noteworthy one in the pendulum of ever-changing momentum, with Phillip Island now set up to see the fireworks start again.
Marquez kept it tidy in the latter laps to give Bastianini no chance at a move, completing the podium and moving back to within two points of the ‘Beast’ in the standings.

Behind, Binder just lost out on fifth as Franco Morbidelli (Prima Pramac Racing) charged up the order to deny the South African. Marco Bezzecchi (Pertamina Enduro VR46 Racing Team) took P7 just ahead of teammate Fabio Di Giannantonio, before a gap back to top Aprilia Aleix Espargaro (Aprilia Racing) after Maverick Viñales crashed out from up ahead. Miller completed the top ten, holding off Johann Zarco (CASTROL Honda LCR) after an impressive performance from the Frenchman – and a less controversial one than his Tissot Sprint.

Fabio Quartararo (Monster Energy Yamaha MotoGP™) was next up ahead of Takaaki Nakagami (IDEMITSU Honda LCR) as he scored points in his final Japanese GP as a full-time rider. The scorers were rounded out by Luca Marini (Repsol Honda Team) and Raul Fernandez (Trackhouse Racing). An early race incident saw Alex Marquez (Gresini Racing MotoGP™) make contact with Joan Mir (Repsol Honda Team) and both DNF, with the #73 given a Long Lap Penalty for it to be served next time out.

There was opportunity aplenty for the key contenders to falter at Motegi, but despite a season where sometimes shock twists and turns have changed the whole picture in an instant, it was a weekend where both held firm under pressure. As a consequence it’s now closer than it has been for some time right at the top, with 10 points in it as we head for the island.

We’ll see you Down Under. We know you won’t want to miss this!

Gonzalez wins as Ogura pockets crucial P2 to extend title lead

Gonzalez Wins As Ogura Pockets Crucial P2 To Extend Title LeadWet or dry? That was the question asked of the Moto2™ field after a red-flagged stoppage in Japan – and the answer, eventually, was dry.

Emerging as a Grand Prix winner for the first time was Manuel Gonzalez as the Spaniard’s slick tyre gamble worked a treat, with the QJMOTOR Gresini Moto2™ star beating World Championship leader Ai Ogura (MT Helmets – MSI) by 2.5s as the Japanese home hero’s risky gamble also pays off in a big way. Filip Salač (Elf Marc VDS Racing Team) was another rider to choose the right tyres as the Czech star powered his Triumph-Kalex to a first podium of the season.

The intermediate class race began with a threat of rain looming in Motegi, but it was dry when the lights went out and pinching the holeshot was polesitter Jake Dixon (CFMOTO Inde Aspar Team), as the Briton’s teammate Izan Guevara and Zonta van den Goorbergh (RW-Idrofoglia Racing GP) made contact at Turn 1 and 2, causing both riders to lose several positions. However, the rain had arrived at the top end of the circuit and before the opening lap could be completed, the red flags were waved. This meant the race would restart with original grid positions.

Following a short delay, a restarted race of 12 laps was declared as the riders and teams tried to work out whether to head out on wet or slick tyres. And dramatically, World Championship leader Ogura opted for slicks! At the end of the sighting lap, the Japanese star didn’t pit, so his choice was locked. The majority of the other riders chose wet tyres.

Was it a masterstroke from Ogura? We were about to find out. Dixon got the holeshot again as Guevara made it an Aspar 1-2, with Ogura dropping to P14 at Turn 2. van den Goorbergh, from P2, dropped to P22 on the opening lap as Ogura lost more places. At the end of Lap 1 of 12, Ogura was P14, 3.2s away from race leader Dixon.

Alonso Lopez (Beta Tools SpeedUp) passed Guevara for P2 on Lap 2 as Ogura began to make progress. P7 was now the #79’s position, and that was soon P4. Then it was P3 at Turn 10, then it was P2 at Turn 11, then it was P1 at Turn 1 on the next lap. Stunning from Ogura. With nine laps to go, the slick tyre risk was paying off handsomely.

Gonzalez was another rider on slick tyres, and the Spaniard was P2 on Lap 5. Dixon’s lap was over four seconds slower than Ogura’s as the slick tyre runners powered on through. The next of those was Jeremy Alcoba (Yamaha VR46 Master Camp Racing Team), and the other two were Salač and van den Goorbergh as the Czech and Dutch riders sailed into the top five.

With six to go, Gonzalez was taking huge chunks out of Ogura’s lead. The Spaniard was 0.9s quicker on the previous lap, and while that battle was starting to fizz up, Salač, Alcoba and van den Goorbergh were jostling for the final podium spot.

With four laps to go, Gonzalez was swarming all over the rear tyre of Ogura. A move came at Turn 9 and it was a clean one too. The #18 passed the #79 as Gonzalez stared down the barrel of a maiden Moto2™ win, with Ogura clinging onto a massive 20-point haul.

On Lap 11 of 12, the gap between the leading duo was a second. Gonzalez wasn’t streaking clear as the pre-pass pace suggested, but heading onto the last lap, the gap was 1.1s despite Ogura setting the fastest lap of the race. Would Gonzalez hold on for a dream debut Grand Prix victory? Yes he would. The slick tyre gamble paid off as Gonzalez led home title chase leader and home hero Ogura, as Salač fended off Alcoba to bag his first podium since the 2023 French GP.

Alcoba was just 0.137s away from his first intermediate class podium in P4, as van den Goorbergh earns a career-best P5. Xavier Artigas’ (Klint Forward Factory Team) dry tyre gamble handed the Spaniard his first points of the season in P6, with Celestino Vietti (Red Bull KTM Ajo) the first of the wet tyre riders to cross the line in P7.

Diogo Moreira (Italtrans Racing Team), Lopez and Guevara closed out the top 10, with Tony Arbolino (Elf Marc VDS Racing Team), Fermin Aldeguer (Beta Tools SpeedUp), Dixon, Sergio Garcia (MT Helmets – MSI) and Darryn Binder (Liqui Moly Husqvarna Intact GP) the final point scorers, as that P14 for Garcia sees Ogura take a commanding 60-point lead into Phillip Island. That means it’s match-point territory for the Japanese star next time out.

A dash of unexpected drama is thrown up in Japan, as Ogura’s incredible gamble sees him now sit firmly in pole position in the Championship chase heading to Australia.

Alonso clinches 2024 crown with 10th win

Alonso Clinches 2024 Crown With 10th WinWas it ever in doubt? David Alonso (CFMOTO Gaviota Aspar Team) is your 2024 Moto3™ World Champion after #BabyGOAT raced to a phenomenal 10th victory of the season at the Japanese GP.

Collin Veijer (Liqui Moly Husqvarna Intact GP) and Adrian Fernandez (Leopard Racing) completed the rostrum in P2 and P3 respectively, as the crown is secured by the Colombian with four races to spare.

From pole position, Ortola got a lovely start and beat Alonso to the holeshot, as Veijer slipped from P2 to P7. Meanwhile, from P9, Holgado made quick – and necessary – progress on Lap 1 to get past Alonso into P2 behind Ortola.

P3 became P5 for Alonso at the start of Lap 2 as both Leopard Racing Hondas, Angel Piqueras and Fernandez, carved past at Turn 1. At the start of Lap 3, Ortola led from Holgado and Fernandez, with Alonso back ahead of Piqueras in P4. Fernandez, after a phenomenal double overtake at Turn 5, pounced to P1 as Alonso was shuffled back to P7 having been passed by Ryusei Yamanaka (MT Helmets – MSI) and David Muñoz (BOE Motorsports).

With 11 laps to go, Fernandez was still leading but after briefly sitting behind Holgado, Ortola was now back in second place and setting record-breaking race laps at the Mobility Resort Motegi. Piqueras then passed Holgado to relegate the #96 to P4, with Yamanaka swarming all over the rear tyre of the Spaniard before a move from the Japanese rider came at Turn 5 with 10 laps to go. Now, Holgado was P5 and Alonso was P6. As things stood, the title race would continue in Australia.

On Lap 9 of 17, Holgado and then Alonso were back past Yamanaka at Turn 9. That was the #80’s first big move of the race, as the Colombian set the fastest lap of the race. P5 was soon P3 for Alonso as a mistake from Holgado at Turn 10 saw Alonso move into P3, but Holgado bit back at Turn 11. The wick had been turned up.

With seven laps left, Alonso was in a Championship-winning position. P2 for Ortola, P3 for Alonso and P4 for Holgado was enough, but there was a long way to go. P3 then became P2 for Alonso at Turn 9 as Ortola was demoted to P3, now it was all about how could Ortola and Holgado respond.

Ortola and Alonso exchanged P2 on Lap 13, as Veijer elbowed his way through on Holgado at Turn 5. Piqueras then crashed out of the lead group at Turn 10 to make it a lead group of five, with Yamanaka 0.6s away in P6.

Four to go. Alonso, for the first time, led. But not for long. Fernandez fought back immediately as Ortola and Veijer went toe-to-toe. Turn 11 saw Alonso lead again as Holgado slammed it up the inside of Veijer to grab P4.

Three to go. As things stood, Alonso was the World Champion and there was a gap forming at the front. Fernandez made a small mistake at Turn 11 that cost him and Ortola time. Could that half a second be enough?

Two to go. Ortola forced his way through on Fernandez and set his sights on Alonso, as Veijer pinched P4 off of Holgado. That half a second advantage disappeared with a lap and a half to go, but at Turn 10, Ortola crashed. The polesitter was down and out of the podium fight, and this left Alonso with a 0.4s lead over Fernandez and Veijer heading onto the final lap.

Last lap time. With Alonso P1 and Holgado P4, it was all but done. Veijer and Fernandez battled hard for P2 to allow Alonso to keep his 0.4s buffer, and the pack weren’t close enough to even think about making a move on Alonso. The Colombian rounded Victory Corner, fired his way to the chequered flag and became a Moto3™ World Champion in the only way he knows how in 2024 – by winning. A 10th victory of the year, a record-breaking 14th Moto3™ win and the first Colombian World Champion. What a rider, what a win, what a World Champion. Congratulations David and to the whole Aspar outfit.

Veijer beat Fernandez on the final lap to claim P2, as the latter made it two podiums from two. Holgado’s title hopes are ended in Japan with a P4 finish, as Jose Antonio Rueda (Red Bull KTM Ajo) completed the top five. Yamanaka was only 1.3s away from the win and was the lead Japanese rider in P6, with compatriot Tatsuki Suzuki (Liqui Moly Husqvarna Intact GP), Muñoz, Taiyo Furusato (Honda Team Asia), and Stefano Nepa (LEVELUP – MTA) rounded out the top 10.

Elsewhere, Matteo Bertelle and Kopron Rivacold Snipers Team teammate David Almansa picked up P11 and P12, as Filippo Farioli (SIC58 Squadra Corse), Riccardo Rossi (CIP Green Power) and Joel Esteban (CFMOTO Gaviota Aspar Team) completed the points in Japan.

So there we go. David Alonso is your 2024 Moto3™ World Champion with four races to spare. #BabyGOAT will now go in search of breaking Valentino Rossi’s lightweight class victory record between now and Valencia, as we look forward to getting to Phillip Island where the pressure is off, and it’s all about winning.

Alonso crowned 2024 Moto3 World Champion

Alonso Crowned 2024 Moto3™ World ChampionThe Colombian makes history as the first from his nation to win a Grand Prix World Championship

David Alonso (CFMOTO Gaviota Aspar Team) is the 2024 FIM Moto3™ World Champion! Having notched up a sensational 10 wins so far this season, he wrapped up the crown in Japan to make history as the first Colombian rider to win a Grand Prix title in any class.

Alonso’s path to World Championship glory began in 2019 when he raced in the European Talent Cup for the first time on the Road to MotoGP™. In his first season, Alonso finished fifth overall and stood on the podium four times. It was a sign of things to come, as he went on to win the ETC title in 2020 riding for the Aspar Team, collecting five wins along the way. In the same year, the Colombian competed in the Red Bull MotoGP™ Rookies Cup, and it was a campaign that saw him claim a debut win on his way to finishing P4 overall.

In 2021, Alonso won the Rookies Cup title after clinching six wins, while a first year in the JuniorGP™ class sprung a further two rostrums. Alonso continued in JuniorGP™ with Aspar in 2022 – a first win arriving in Valencia – before the World Championship beckoned for 2023.

And what an outstanding rookie campaign it was. It took just four races for Alonso to claim his first Moto3™ podium as he became the first Colombian rider to stand on a Grand Prix rostrum – a trend that we’d see continue. Alonso’s first Grand Prix victory was secured at Silverstone, and in doing so Colombia was etched onto the map of GP winners too. That set the ball rolling as three more wins arrived soon after in Barcelona, Misano and Buriram. Four wins, plus four second place finishes, saw Alonso end his first World Championship year in P3, less than 30 points behind the eventual World Champion, Jaume Masia.

2024 then arrived and the Colombian was a clear favourite from the off. Victory in Qatar seemed a sign of things to come as Alonso’s last lap masterclass also handed CFMOTO the accolade of being the first Chinese manufacturer to win a Grand Prix. Nine more wins have followed in an astonishing 2024 campaign, with his Japanese GP glory seeing the #80 become the rider with the most Moto3™ wins in history: 14.

The crowning moment arrived with that history-making win in Japan as Alonso took his first Grand Prix title to become Colombia’s first-ever World Champion – and all with four races still to play for.

Congratulations on a phenomenal season, David!

Victory For Prado, Vialle, & Jett Lawrence As Spain Top Qualifying Races

The 77th Edition of the Monster Energy FIM Motocross of Nations burst into life today at the Matterley Basin circuit, as the RAM Qualifying Races took place to decide the gate picks for tomorrow’s main races, as well as putting the top 19 teams into those races and not the dreaded B-Final!

The winners of the MXGP, MX2, and Open class races each helped their teams into the top three overall, as recently re-crowned MXGP World Champion Jorge Prado took the MXGP class win, former double World Champion Tom Vialle the MX2 RAM Qualifying Heat, and AMA Supercross Champion Jett Lawrence easing his way to the Open class victory.

With great back-up from Ruben Fernandez, Team Spain have earned themselves the first gate pick ahead of defending Champions Team France and last-year’s runners-up Team Australia.

Behind them, Team Great Britain produced a brilliant fourth place in front of their home crowd, with Team Germany dealing brilliantly with the last pick on the gate to finish the day in fifth.

As expected, the line-up produced some epic battles between several modern-day legends of Motocross to give us a tantalising prospect for the main races tomorrow!

Victory For Prado, Vialle, & Jett Lawrence As Spain Top Qualifying Races

Fresh from the conclusion of their year-long battle for the MXGP World Championship, Team HRC’s Tim Gajser and Red Bull GASGAS Factory Racing talisman Jorge Prado fired around the fast first corner at Matterley in the top two positions.  Prado had been fastest in the morning Free Practice session, and immediately took the lead into the second corner, as Gajser had to deal with his fellow HRC rider Hunter Lawrence, Kawasaki Racing Team’s number 1 plate holder Romain Febvre, and the Standing Construct Honda of Alberto Forato!

Immediately into the fray, wearing the unfamiliar #52 on his Red Bull KTM Factory Racing machine, was Jeffrey Herlings, but shortly after passing Forato for fifth, the Dutchman fell in the corner after the GoPro waves and gave himself a big fightback to take on.

From the very outside of the gate due to his team drawing the final choice of start position, Ken Roczen had fought through with customary intensity on his HEP Motorsports/Progressive Suzuki to pass Forato for fifth before the end of the first lap.

As Prado streaked away out front in his familiar style, “The Bullet” was charging back through the pack. Passing the JM Honda Racing machine of Brent van Doninck on lap four, then Forato again a lap later, suddenly Herlings was under pressure from the rider many consider to be his stateside equivalent: Monster Energy Star Yamaha’s Eli Tomac!  Amazingly, the highly decorated duo then caught up to Roczen, and fans were treated to three of the most famous off-road racers of the last decade battling for fifth position! Jeffrey got through with three laps to go, but Kenny was able to hold off Eli for sixth.  Forato took eighth ahead of Swedish JK Racing Yamaha rider Isak Gifting and the Kawasaki Racing Team pilot Jeremy Seewer, whose Swiss team had drawn a starting choice only one place better than Germany!

There was one last twist at the top, however, as Hunter Lawrence fell in some difficult ruts from third on the final lap, gifting Febvre third place, but Prado won by over five and a half seconds from Gajser, making it the perfect start for Team Spain!

Jorge Prado: “Happy for team Spain, sitting first now in the in the classification for tomorrow so number one gate pick is also important over here. I had a good start as the guys were coming in fast from the outside but I could control it and have a good breaking into turn two. The track was quite sketchy with so many ruts it was crazy. I had to be very focused all the time and couldn’t afford any mistakes so I lost a front at one point I almost went down but for the rest it was a good good race I had fun I love the ruts so let’s see how it goes tomorrow”

He may have been away from MX2 racing for the two years since he won his second world title, but Tom Vialle proved that he can still pull a great Fox Holeshot for Red Bull KTM Factory Racing at the start of the MX2 Ram Qualifying Heat, while behind him it was a sea of blue bikes as Cooper Webb and Max Anstie on their Monster Energy Star Racing Yamahas were joined by the teenage Karlis Reisulis on his Monster Energy Yamaha Factory MX2 machine!

However, Team HRC guest rider Kyle Webster was looking to impress on his European debut and made a great move through the third corner to claim second place! Sadly for him, three corners later he lost balance and fell onto an inside bank, dropping to fifteenth.  A further fall and recovery saw him back to thirteenth by the finish, but Team Australia must be pleased that he has the pace to back up the Lawrence brothers in tomorrow’s main races.

Webb, on unfamiliar 250cc machinery, dropped back to an eventual seventh, but Anstie was on the move, holding second ahead of the Nestaan Husqvarna Factory Racing duo Kay de Wolf and Lucas Coenen, who had used Team Belgium’s first gate pick draw to recover from a poor jump at the gate and salvage a good position on the first lap.

By lap four the top two in the MX2 World Championship this year had both got past Anstie, but Vialle was already a distance ahead of them. Simon Laengenfelder had battled from the poor German start gate and was up to fifth for Red Bull GASGAS Factory Racing by the halfway point. On lap seven, he pulled a stunning round-the-outside pass on the Monster Energy Triumph Racing hotshot Camden McLellan, who was trying to pull South Africa into a Qualifying position.

On the same lap, De Wolf crashed out of second, freeing up Coenen, the fastest in Free Practice, to tear up the circuit in pursuit of Vialle. Behind Webb, Mikkel Haarup fought through from a bad start to take eighth for Monster Energy Triumph Racing, with Oriol Oliver’s WZ Racing KTM in ninth and Red Bull Factory Racing KTM’s 2023 MX2 World Champion Andrea Adamo in tenth.

Coenen mercilessly closed on Vialle in the closing laps, but the Belgian got an off-camber rut slightly wrong and fell with two laps to go, denying him the chance of improving on second. Laengenfelder made a last lap pass on Max Anstie to claim third, with De Wolf fifth ahead of McLellan.

Vialle’s win put Team France in a leading position from the first two races ahead of a surprising Germany and Spain in third.

Tom Vialle :  “was excited for that. I was like, Lucas, obviously, is the man of the championship. Him and Kai are really close, and I was like, okay, I took the hard shot, and I really want to win that moto. Lucas was catching me a little bit, and then I pushed again the last three laps, and I could win so it was really nice to start the weekend like that I mean the qualification are not always… that’s not where you win but it’s really important. That’s pretty good”.

With a late switch to the MX Open class, Team HRC’s Jett Lawrence was fastest in Free Practice ahead of Monster Energy Yamaha Factory MXGP pilot Maxime Renaux.  However, few would have predicted the Fox Holeshot being taken by Brazilian Champion Fabio Aparecido dos Santos on his Yamaha Monster Energy Geração machine!

The South American proved to be no pushover however, as Team HRC’s Spanish fast starter Ruben Fernandez took nearly a lap to get past, as Lawrence and Renaux also just worked past Dos Santos before the end of the first full circulation.

Lawrence was racing with his customary style and flow, and made the pass on Fernandez for the lead, at the bottom of the biggest uphill jump on the circuit, look like a piece of cake.  From there, Lawrence, Fernandez, and Renaux held station, with the battle brewing behind them!

Crendon Tru7 Honda rider Conrad Mewse, with the locals in the crowd urging him on, had passed Fantic Factory Racing star Glenn Coldenhoff for sixth on lap two, and closed in on Dos Santos, who had Monster Energy Yamaha Factory MXGP pilot Andrea Bonacorsi already giving him hassle! The Brazilian lost both positions in the space of two corners, before an inspired Mewse got past the Italian a lap later!  The Brit was relishing the technical conditions, and his fourth position put the host nation in fourth for the day!

In the end, Red Bull KTM Factory Racing’s Team USA star Aaron Plessinger fought through to sixth behind Bonacorsi, ahead of the Schmicker Racing KTM of Cornelius Toendel from Norway and the TEM JP253 Racing KTM of Slovenian Jan Pancar.

Coldenhoff had a mechanical issue drop him down the order, but The Netherlands still claimed sixth on the day ahead of Slovenia, Belgium, USA, and Italy. After his holeshot heroics, Dos Santos finished in tenth spot, with Brazil qualifying for the main races in 16th.

Jett Lawrence did look ominously fast in this division, but the truly mouth-watering clash will come in the final race of tomorrow’s programme when all the 450 men are together!

It promises to be an enthralling spectacle on a superb circuit, so don’t miss out on this incredible day’s racing at the Monster Energy FIM Motocross of Nations for the Chamberlain Trophy!

Jett Lawrence: “On the start, my holeshot button came down at the bottom. So I kind of messed up my start a bit. But yeah, following Fernandez for the first, what was it? Ten, five minutes, I would say. So it was good. Got a little bit of a battle the first lap, going back and forth. It was fun. The track’s pretty tricky. You definitely can’t override it. It’s fun just to kind of hop around, bounce around like a kangaroo, you could say. We got the win. So nice P3, same as last year. Let’s hope we just get some better starts for tomorrow.”

Bagnaia capitalises as Acosta slides out and Bastianini duels Marquez at Motegi

Bagnaia Capitalises As Acosta Slides Out And Bastianini Duels Marquez At MotegiThe Italian wins an incredible Tissot Sprint ahead of a charging Bastianini and Marquez, cutting the points gap to 15 as Martin fails to take a podium.

The gap in the Championship is back down to 15 points after a rollercoaster Tissot Sprint at the Motul Grand Prix of Japan. Reigning Champion Francesco Bagnaia (Ducati Lenovo Team) lands the spoils as he stayed flawless under pressure at the front, taking over after a heartbreaker crash out the lead for rookie and polesitter Pedro Acosta (Red Bull GASGAS Tech3).

The podium behind was then decided by a spectacular Enea Bastianini (Ducati Lenovo Team) vs Marc Marquez (Gresini Racing MotoGP™) showdown, before the two then also homed in on Bagnaia for an incredibly close finish over the line. Championship leader Jorge Martin (Prima Pramac Racing) came home fourth, moving forward from a tough qualifying but unable to quite get into the rostrum fight.Bagnaia Capitalises As Acosta Slides Out And Bastianini Duels Marquez At Motegi

Bagnaia got a scrappier start but was able to make it back, just getting it under control in the braking area to nab the holeshot from Acosta. Bastianini then briefly got ahead of Acosta in the early stages before the rookie hit back, and behind them Martin and Marquez had made big gains. After the first shuffle concluded, Bagnaia, Acosta, Bastianini and Brad Binder (Red Bull KTM Factory Racing) was the leading quartet ahead of a small gap back to the #89-#93 duo in fifth and sixth.

The fireworks started there on Lap 2. Marquez went for it at T10 and got it done, but the two stayed close together in the race to catch the front four and Martin wasn’t ultimately able to reply. There were then more fireworks at the front as Acosta went for a late dive for the lead at Turn 5, likewise making that stick and forcing Bagnaia to tuck in behind. Bastianini remained close company too, before the three gained a little more time in their wake as Binder pulled off to the side of the track with a technical issue, leaving some space.

From there, Acosta was on a charge. The rookie held the reigning Champion at bay looking comfortable enough, but then it all came apart. Already with his head in his hands as he slid across the gravel, the mistake was made and the win gone. Bagnaia took over in the lead, with Bastianini and Marquez on the chase.

Initially, it looked comfortable enough, but there were spots of rain threatening and the #93’s reputation preceded him. All over the back of Bastianini, he went for the move but the ‘Beast’ wasn’t for turning. Marquez was briefly ahead, the two were side-by-side, and then the #23 Ducati was sailing back up the inside. Somehow, Bastianini got it stopped and was back into second – and then the two started eating into Bagnaia’s lead.Bagnaia Capitalises As Acosta Slides Out And Bastianini Duels Marquez At Motegi

Metre by metre, the gap to the front disappeared as the grey skies threatened again. But half a second proved the limit for the duo on the chase, and the #1 crossed the line ahead by just over a tenth, with all three covered by 0.349 at the flag. Bagnaia’s win cuts the gap back down to 15 points as Martin came home fourth, unable to get in the podium fight on Saturday.

Bastianini’s second place, meanwhile, keeps him just ahead of Marquez in the Championship and the two completing the podium ensures they make a gain – however small – on Martin overall…

Franco Morbidelli (Prima Pramac Racing) finished P5, just able to stay ahead of Fabio Di Giannantonio (Pertamina Enduro VR46 Racing Team) as his compatriot hounded him to the flag. In a big group battle behind, Alex Marquez (Gresini Racing MotoGP™) just came out on top ahead of Jack Miller (Red Bull KTM Factory Racing), with Maverick Viñales (Aprilia Racing) taking the final Sprint point as Marco Bezzeccchi (Pertamina Enduro VR46 Racing Team) just missed out.

There was some home heartbreak for Takaaki Nakagami (IDEMITSU Honda LCR) as some unfortunate contact from his CASTROL Honda LCR teammate ended his final home Sprint as a full time rider early. Zarco was given a Long Lap penalty for the incident after also having come together Joan Mir (Repsol Honda Team) earlier in the race and will be looking for some amends on Sunday.

Sunday will be a whole new challenge as the weather may change again, the grid remains the same interesting mash up, and now we’ve seen some of what they’ve got – but by no means all. Can Acosta hit back to become the second youngest premier class winner? Will Bagnaia reign supreme? Or do the likes of Bastianini, Marquez and Martin have more up their sleeves? We’ll find out tomorrow at 14:00 (UTC+9) – don’t miss it!

Dixon times it right to claim pole, Ogura to start P9 on home turf

Dixon Times It Right To Claim Pole, Ogura To Start P9 On Home TurfTricky conditions were the name of the game in Moto2™ qualifying and timing the table-topping lap to perfection was Jake Dixon (CFMOTO Inde Aspar Team).

The Briton’s early 1:52.693 was enough to seal pole position by just 0.006s as Q1 graduate Zonta van den Goorbergh (RW-Idrofoglia Racing GP) secured his best Saturday result of the season in P2, while Indonesian GP winner Aron Canet (Fantic Racing) claimed P3.

Joe Roberts (OnlyFans American Racing Team) spearheads a second row that is made up of an on-song Izan Guevara (CFMOTO Inde Aspar Team) and rookie Diogo Moreira (Italtrans Racing Team).

Row 3 is fronted by another Q1 graduate in the form of Barry Baltus (RW-Idrofoglia Racing GP), with the Belgian joined by two of the top three in the title chase – Alonso Lopez (Beta Tools SpeedUp) and World Championship leader Ai Ogura (MT Helmets – MSI).

There’s work to be done on Sunday for Fermin Aldeguer (Beta Tools SpeedUp) and MT Helmets – MSI’s Sergio Garcia as two 2024 race winners launch from P15 and P17 respectively.

Ortola sets lap record to pocket pole as Alonso faces match point from P3

Ortola Sets Lap Record To Pocket Pole As Alonso Faces Match Point From P3For the second weekend in a row, Ivan Ortola (MT Helmets – MSI) set a new lap record to take pole position – and what an effort it was.

The #48’s 1:54.781 was the only sub-1:55 lap of a session that was completed (amazingly) with rain in the air, as Collin Veijer (Liqui Moly Husqvarna Intact GP) finished 0.356s down in P2. Meanwhile, on match point Sunday in Motegi, Championship leader David Alonso (CFMOTO Gaviota Aspar Team) will launch from P3 as the #80 aims to wrap up the title tomorrow.

It was another strong qualifying for rookie Angel Piqueras. The Leopard Racing star will start from P4 on Sunday morning and is joined on Row 2 by home hero Ryusei Yamanaka (MT Helmets – MSI) and Australia’s Joel Kelso (BOE Motorsports).

Daniel Holgado (Red Bull GASGAS Tech3) is Alonso’s chief chaser in the 2024 title race, but the #96 has a little more work to do off the grid than he would have liked. It’s a P9 slot for the Spaniard, just behind compatriots Adrian Fernandez (Leopard Racing) and David Muñoz (BOE Motorsports).

Will it be a record-breaking day for Colombia’s Alonso, or will the title fight roll on for another week? Find out at 11:00 (UTC+9)!

The Monster Energy Motocross of Nations Returns to The USA For The 78th Edition in 2025

The Monster Energy Motocross Of Nations Returns To The Usa For The 78th Edition In 2025Infront Moto Racing is thrilled to announce that the 78th Edition of the Monster Energy FIM Motocross of Nations will be held in USA, from the 3rd to the 5th of October 2025! For the sixth running of this event on American soil, the host venue will be the spectacular Ironman Raceway just outside Crawfordsville, only an hour’s drive from the Motorsports Mecca of Indianapolis in the state of Indiana.

Now the brilliant facility of Ironman Raceway joins that illustrious list, named after the late GNCC ATV Champion Bob ‘Ironman’ Sloan, who hailed from the area and was an inspiration for the building of the circuit, as well as the off-road enduro-style facility nearby.  The land surrounding the track itself is huge and flat, perfect for camping and parking, but the actual circuit is anything but level, with major elevation changes a key feature. Some of the biggest and steepest uphill sections in American Motocross, including the mighty Godzilla step-up, help to form an action-packed lap which will both challenge and excite the best riders on the planet!

The USA holds the record for the most team victories in the history of the Monster Energy Motocross of Nations, with 23 in total, despite only truly joining the competition in the 1970s.  The first ‘Nations’ in the USA was at Unadilla in 1987, in the middle of a period of dominance for the home team.  Further home victories were taken in 2007 at Budd’s Creek, 2010 at Lakewood, and in 2022 at RedBud, which avenged the only American loss on home soil, which was to Team France in 2018 at the same venue.

Ironman Raceway has hosted a round of the AMA National Motocross Championship each season since 2014, and on seven occasions has seen the final round of the series play out there.  American Eli Tomac clinched his first two National 450cc titles at the venue, and Australian Jett Lawrence not only clinched his first two US 250cc titles there, but also completed his perfect 450cc season in 2023, with his brother Hunter Lawrence taking the 250cc title on the same day.  KTM’s Chase Sexton also won his National title at Ironman this season.

MXGP fans will know the venue well, as the site of Jeffrey Herlings’ famous double victory in 2017, and regular ‘Nations’ riders Ken Roczen, Jo Shimoda, Tom Vialle, and Dylan Ferrandis have also put their names onto the winner’s trophies in the past. 2024 Team USA rider Aaron Plessinger has won twice there in the 250cc class, but Tomac and Jett Lawrence are tied for the most National wins at the circuit with three apiece.

Motocross fans from all over the world will flock to the American Midwest on the first weekend of October next year. The passion, pride, and patriotism of the Nations is unmatched in any off-road motorcycling event! Watch for the ticket announcements online and book your place at what is sure to be one of the best Monster Energy Motocross of Nations of all time!

Infront Moto Racing CEO, David Luongo: “We are proud to bring the 78th edition of the Monster Energy FIM Motocross of Nations to the USA in 2025. We will head to the fantastic Ironman Raceway, renowned for its challenging layout and rich history in the American Motocross. It will mark a new step in the outstanding collaboration Infront Moto Racing has with MX Sports. In this respect I want to thank Carrie Russel Coombs, Davey Coombs, Tim Cotter from MX Sport and all their team for turning this mutual project into life. I would like also to thank the city of Crawfordsville representative for supporting this event that will bring all the eyes and interest of the international motocross community to the region.
The MXoN is always a special event where riders don’t just compete for themselves but for their nations. The pride, emotion and intensity that comes with this race is something you can feel in the air. We are expecting an unforgettable atmosphere, with American fans and fans from all over the world coming together to celebrate this amazing sport.
Thank you to everyone involved and we can’t wait to see you all at Ironman Raceway for what promises to be one of the most exciting and memorable editions of the Monster Energy FIM Motocross of Nations.”

FIM/CMS Director Antonio Alia Portela: “It seems that it was yesterday when we last were in the US for the MXoN that brought so much glory for the team USA.
New bonds were built during that event that still confirm the friendship between the two sides of the Atlantic. And it is thanks to that will to strengthen that bond that IMR, MX Sports and Feld have joined forces to present in 2025 the 78th edition of the MXoN in the historic motocross track of Ironman Raceway.
It goes without saying that not only will the venue and facilities be up to the FIM standards required to hold such an event, but also all the energy and support from the FIM and AMA staff needed to run such event so that the atmosphere created by the MX fans from every single corner of the planet will make of this MXoN edition a lasting experience for those who will flock together to enjoy the best motocross riders of the galaxy.”

MX Sport CEO Davey Coombs: “I’ve been a lifelong fan of the Motocross of Nations, going back to the very early days of Team USA. When our parents Dave and Rita Coombs hosted a 125cc U.S. Grand Prix in 1987, their ultimate goal was to one day host the Motocross of Nations. It didn’t quite work out in my Dad’s lifetime, but we remained enthusiastic supporters when other great U.S tracks like Unadilla, Budds Creek, Thunder Valley and most recently RedBud got their shot. Finally, with the support of InFront and the entire community of Crawfordsville, Indiana, as well as all of our fellow promoters of AMA Pro Motocross and Monster Energy Supercross, the FIM and the AMA, it’s our chance to host this epic event. The bar has been set high by all of the previous MXON races in America, and we look forward to setting it even higher next October at Ironman Raceway.”

Mayor Todd Barton of Crawfordsville Indiana: “We are beyond thrilled to host the 2025 Motocross of Nations at Ironman Raceway in Crawfordsville.  We look forward to welcoming teams and fans from around the world to our community and are already hard at work creating a fun-filled experience for our visitors that will be like none other.”

Rookie takes pole, the #93 loses a lap and Martin crashes in dramatic Motegi qualifying

Rookie Takes Pole, The #93 Loses A Lap And Martin Crashes In Dramatic Motegi QualifyingLap record gained, lap record lost and one pretty costly crash: Saturday morning serves up a storm in Japan.

A rookie on pole with a new lap record, track limits for an eight-time World Champion and a crash for the Championship leader make the headlines overflow after qualifying at the Motul Grand Prix of Japan, with a fascinating grid set for our showdowns at Round 16.

Pedro Acosta (Red Bull GASGAS Tech3), just hours after being mathematically confirmed as Rookie of the Year, takes a maiden pole in MotoGP™ with a new lap record. He’s the first KTM/GASGAS rider to start from pole since Portugal 2020, and heads reigning Champion Francesco Bagnaia (Ducati Lenovo Team) after the #1 stayed cool to move up from P12. Maverick Viñales (Aprilia Racing) completes the front row as Aprilia get back in the mix at the front, making it three factories one Row 1.

Marc Marquez (Gresini Racing MotoGP™) put in what seemed like a pole lap before it was dramatically scrubbed off for track limits, demoting him down the order onto Row 3, and it was an even more costly session for Championship leader Jorge Martin (Prima Pramac Racing) as he crashed out – rider ok – but is now set to start from P11 for the Tissot Sprint and Grand Prix in JapanRookie Takes Pole, The #93 Loses A Lap And Martin Crashes In Dramatic Motegi Qualifying

Q1
With the threat of rain in the air and some drops on the track, Q1 seemed like it could all be about timing after the first runs, which had left Jack Miller (Red Bull KTM Factory Racing) top. But there was margin to improve as the field headed back out, and Franco Morbidelli (Prima Pramac Racing) took nearly half a second off the benchmark to take over. Fabio Quartararo (Monster Energy Yamaha MotoGP™) then slotted into second, and in the final push, Miller, Quartararo and Raul Fernandez (Trackhouse Racing) were the three really threatening to take a place in Q2. But there weren’t any huge improvements late on, meaning Morbidelli and Quartararo moved through.Rookie Takes Pole, The #93 Loses A Lap And Martin Crashes In Dramatic Motegi Qualifying

Q2
It was action stations from the off in Q2 as most of the field stormed out of pitlane to put in their laps as fast as possible. That put Acosta on top but Bagnaia down in P12 as he didn’t set a flying lap straight off, but as the clock ticked down the red sectors came in thick and fast.

Bagnaia, despite a twitch on one lap, was able to slot into second just thousandths off Acosta as the second attempts started to come in. Next time round the reigning Champion knocked some tenths off to take over on top again, before an absolute stormer came in from Marc Marquez. Or did it? It stood for a couple of minutes before the lap suddenly disappeared – the eight-time World Champion had been outside track limits at Turn 4. So marginally, but MotoGP™ is a sport of fine margins.

In the meantime, more drama had already lit up the Mobility Resort Motegi. Under some pressure to move up the order, Championship leader Martin then suddenly slid out at Turn 9 – rider ok but qualifying over and ultimate grid position left in the hands of his rivals.

The crucial lap from Acosta was underway by then. The rookie slammed in his own new lap record, becoming the only rider to go faster than Martin’s 2023 best after Marquez’ effort was scrubbed off, and taking his first pole position in MotoGP™ right on the heels of mathematically securing that Rookie of the Year title.

Bagnaia sits alongside the rookie on the front row, with a quietly impressive weekend at Motegi getting much louder from the rider in third on the grid: Viñales.Rookie Takes Pole, The #93 Loses A Lap And Martin Crashes In Dramatic Motegi Qualifying

THE GRID
Behind Acosta, Bagnaia and Viñales, Enea Bastianini (Ducati Lenovo Team) heads Row 2 ahead of Brad Binder (Red Bull KTM Factory Racing) and Morbidelli, the latter up from Q1.

Fabio Di Giannantonio (Pertamina Enduro VR46 Racing Team) and teammate Marco Bezzecchi are at the head of Row 3 with some high profile company: Marc Marquez. The #93’s second best after his fastest was scrubbed off sees him start P9.

His teammate Alex Marquez takes P10, just ahead of the Championship leader: Martin. Then #89 will be looking for a lot more once the lights go out as he aims to minimise the damage to that 21-point advantage, with Quartararo alongside after he didn’t manage to quite create the magic of his second row start last time out.

Another week and yet more drama… will there be more twists and turns when the lights go out? We’re about to find out!

Binder puts KTM on top as Marquez, Martin and more sit close

Binder Puts Ktm On Top As Marquez, Martin And More Sit CloseThe top seven are split by 0.318s in Motegi as a belter from the South African defeats Ducati on Day 1.

Brad Binder’s (Red Bull KTM Factory Racing) brilliant 1:43.436 handed the South African Day 1 honours at the Motul Grand Prix of Japan as an incredibly competitive Friday afternoon Practice session played out at a dry Mobility Resort Motegi. Marc Marquez (Gresini Racing MotoGP™) claimed P2, 0.033s away from the blistering Binder, with World Championship leader Jorge Martin (Prima Pramac Racing) a further 0.099s shy in P3 as Francesco Bagnaia (Ducati Lenovo Team) settles for P7.

We’re normally used to seeing the first 30 minutes – or more – of Practice get off to a steady start, but that wasn’t the case in Japan as the threat of wet weather meant soft rear Michelin rubber was slotted in at the beginning of the session. Bagnaia and Martin were straight up to P1 and P2, with Marco Bezzecchi (Pertamina Enduro VR46 Racing Team) and teammate Fabio Di Giannantonio sitting in an early P3 and P4.

Pedro Acosta (Red Bull GASGAS Tech3) was soon inside the top three on his first visit to Motegi on a premier class thoroughbred, before the session – lap time-wise – settled down following the opening 15-minute flourish.

A while later, Maverick Viñales (Aprilia Racing) was then P3 after a couple of solid efforts were hammered home by Top Gun before we saw Enea Bastianini (Ducati Lenovo Team) crash at Turn 13 with just over 30 minutes to go. ‘The Beast’ was all OK and jogged back to the box, but it was a fast one – the front end washed away without warning, and the Italian’s GP24 took some heavy blows in the gravel.

With 15 minutes to go, things started to ramp up again. Raul Fernandez (Trackhouse Racing MotoGP™) jumped up to P5, and soon after, Aprilia stablemate Viñales went P2 – 0.012s away from Bagnaia. Immediately the Spaniard was demoted to P3 though as Binder set a 1:43.879 to go top of the timesheets, with teammate Jack Miller now P4. The KTMs were prowling.

Binder Puts Ktm On Top As Marquez, Martin And More Sit CloseOn his next lap, Viñales improved again to move back into P2, but it was soon P3 once more as Acosta climbed to P2 to make it a Pierer Mobility Group 1-2 with 10 minutes to go. The rookie sensation then pinched P1 off Binder after delivering a 1:43.754, as both Bagnaia and Martin failed to beat Acosta and Binder on their first time attack efforts.

Pecco then slammed home a 1:43.754 to set the exact same time as Acosta, but Martin went 0.186s faster than his title rival and the #31 to act as the new session leader with five minutes left to play. Attention then turned to Bastianini and after his crash earlier in the session, ‘The Beast’ clawed his way back into the top 10 to go P2, 0.037s down on Martin.

The lead changed again though! Binder went top, 0.132s clear of Martin, as home hero Takaaki Nakagmi (IDEMITSU Honda LCR) clinched a provisional P9 – top job from the Japanese star. There were still plenty of changes coming though. Marc Marquez went 0.033s slower than Binder to pocket P2 as improvements for Alex Marquez (Gresini Racing MotoGP™) and Di Giannantonio pushed the impressive Nakagami out of the top 10 moments before the chequered flag waved.

Binder Puts Ktm On Top As Marquez, Martin And More Sit CloseWhat a session that was. Acosta improved late to finish P4 and under a tenth and a half away from Binder, with Bastianini rounding out the top five – a good recovery from the #23. Viñales was P6, Bagnaia slipped to P7, but less than four tenths covers the front seven in a very competitive Friday. Alex Marquez, Di Giannantonio and Bezzecchi were the final top 10 finishers as a late crash at Turn 3 for Miller saw the Australian miss out in P11 by 0.030s. Nakagami also missed the cut by such a fine margin, the #30 0.049s off an automatic Q2 place.

So that’s another Friday done and dusted – and what an afternoon it was. KTM, Ducati and Aprilia being right in the mix sets us up very nicely for qualifying and Tissot Sprint Saturday at the Japanese GP, and as ever, you can catch it all on motogp.com!

Fuel prices fall by 6.5p in September saving drivers £3.60 a tank

Fuel Prices Fall By 6.5p In September Saving Drivers £3.60 A Tank
Getty (all rights reserved)
The average price of petrol and diesel fell by 6.5p in September – the ninth biggest monthly drop seen since 2000, new data from RAC Fuel Watch* shows.

A litre of unleaded averaged 134.79p, down from 141.26p at the start of the month while diesel fell from 146p to 139.5p. This means drivers are now saving £3.60 every time they fill up an average 55-litre family car. A full fill-up with petrol is now £74 and a tank of diesel is just under £77.

The drop at the pumps has been sparked by the continued reduction in the cost of a barrel of oil from $78 at the beginning of September to $72 at the end; the price was nearer $90 in early July. This, combined with a slightly stronger pound, means wholesale fuel, which is traded in dollars, is cheaper for retailers to buy.

Since the start of May petrol has tumbled 15.5p from 150.3p a litre, which equates to an £8.50 saving on a complete fill-up, while diesel has come down by a whopping 18.5p from 158p, saving drivers £10 on a full tank.

Looking at the current delivered wholesale price of petrol, which stands at 99p a litre, and diesel, which is 103p, the RAC hopes pump prices will continue to fall over the next two weeks, possibly by as much as 4p a litre, as retailers pass on the savings they are benefitting from to drivers.

Drivers who buy their fuel at one of the big four supermarkets are currently saving 3p a litre compared to the UK average as petrol is 131.86p (UK average – 134.79p) and diesel is 136.47p (UK average – 139.5p).

RAC head of policy Simon Williams said: “Drivers will be very pleased to see prices at the pump not only continuing to fall but dropping by 6.5p in just a month as this translates to saving £3.60 on a full tank.

“Since the start of May prices have come down dramatically, with 15.5p being shaved off unleaded and 18.5p off diesel.

“The reductions have primarily been driven by a drop in the price of oil from above $90 in early April to below $70 briefly in mid-September, supported by a slightly stronger pound which makes wholesale fuel cheaper as it’s traded in dollars.

“With analysts predicting oil may continue to fall on the back of a weakened global economy and Saudi Arabia upping its output to regain lost market share, the immediate future on the UK’s forecourts looks considerably brighter for drivers.”

Motorists looking to save money on their fill-ups should take advantage of the fuel finder feature in the free myRAC app. The app can be downloaded for free from the App Store or Google Play.

Up to nine searches a day can be made over a two, five or 10-mile radius, with each giving the five cheapest prices.

The online RAC Fuel Watch resource has more information about the average price of petrol and diesel at the big four supermarkets and at motorway services. It also features graphs showing average prices since 2000 as well as a daily financial breakdown of the cost of a litre of petrol and diesel.

Suzuki to celebrate a quarter of a century of Hayabusa at Motorcycle Live

Suzuki To Celebrate A Quarter Of A Century Of Hayabusa At Motorcycle LiveSuzuki will celebrate a quarter of a century of the Hayabusa at this year’s Motorcycle Live – which takes place from 16-24 November at Birmingham’s NEC – with a special display area on its exhibition stand.

The Japanese firm is also asking customers old and new to help with the celebrations, by submitting images for giant feature wall.

A first generation Hayabusa, which set a new standard of hyperbike when it was launched in 1999, will form part of the special display, alongside a second-generation machine, which followed in 2008, and an anniversary edition of the latest third generation Hayabusa, which launched in 2021.

While the three generations will be represented by standard production models, Suzuki will also celebrate the cult of customisation and drag racing that has surrounded Hayabusa since its launch with an additional display of modified examples and top speed chasers.

As well as powering road and race bikes for decades, Suzuki’s Hayabusa engine has also found favour with a number of race and kit car builders, and nowhere more so than with Radical Sportscars. On display for the duration of the show will be a Radical SR3, which uses a single Hayabusa engine and has been one of the firm’s most popular models, on sale since 2001. The UK-based firm has also mated two Hayabusa engines together in the past to produce their SR8 model.

And, owners can share in the celebrations by providing images of their own Hayabusa, which Suzuki will incorporate into a graphic wall as part of the anniversary display. Owners can upload their Hayabusa images here https://hayabusa-anniversary.suzuki.co.uk.

Suzuki To Celebrate A Quarter Of A Century Of Hayabusa At Motorcycle LiveSuzuki GB motorcycle marketing manager Jak Tyrrell said, “It’s very easy for brands to overuse terms like ‘icon’ or ‘legend’ but I think both are genuinely apt when it comes to the Hayabusa. There aren’t many other motorcycles that have the sort of history it has, in terms of both length and reputation. It changed the face of the hyperbike market when it was launched, did so again in 2008, and today it remains in a class of one. It is also still the weapon of choice at drag strips all over the world, and has a cult following and customisation scene that no other motorcycle can match. As a result it was only right we celebrate it at this year’s show and we’re really excited to see the display come to life at the NEC in November.”

The result is a chassis that delivers top-tier performance and reliability, tailored for competitive racing.

The light and nimble aluminium chassis of the TF 450-RC plays a crucial role in achieving its class-leading power-to-weight ratio. By minimizing the overall weight of the bike, the chassis allows the powerful 450cc engine to deliver exceptional acceleration and performance. This combination of a high-performance engine and a lightweight frame gives riders unmatched agility, control, and speed, making the TF 450-RC a top contender in its class.

Key design elements, including new upper and lower aluminium triple clamps, and dedicated top end mounts, are engineered to handle the increased power and loads. This optimized stiffness provides superior stability and responsiveness, giving riders the confidence to push the bike to its limits.

The KYB AOS coil suspension on the TF 450-RC is designed for superior shock absorption and handling. Featuring an Air-Oil Separation (AOS) system, this suspension ensures smoother, more consistent damping by preventing oil aeration, which results in more precise control and stability across various terrains. Paired with this is the three-way piggyback shock, which allows for fine-tuning of compression, rebound, and preload settings. This ensures that the suspension can be fully customized to the rider’s preferences and track conditions, providing enhanced handling, traction, and comfort, especially during high-speed and demanding motocross events. Industry Initiatives Curb Motorcycle Theft

Industry Initiatives Curb Motorcycle TheftIn a positive development for both the motorcycle industry and riders, the latest data reveals a significant decline in powered two-wheeler thefts.

The downward trend has been ongoing throughout 2024 marking a particularly steep decrease compared to previous years.

According to the latest figures, theft rates have fallen by 7.9% year-on-year, with the total number of stolen motorcycles for the first eight months of 2024 significantly lower than in recent history. This represents a substantial improvement from 2017, when theft levels were over 20% higher.

Industry initiatives, such as MCIA Secured, advancements in security technologies fitted by manufacturers, public awareness campaigns, and enhanced law enforcement collaboration, have been instrumental in reducing thefts of motorcycles and scooters. These combined efforts are starting to make a difference.

Looking ahead, the industry remains committed to investing in innovative technologies, and working closely with authorities to further reduce thefts. Riders are encouraged to stay vigilant and take proactive steps to secure their vehicles, as continued awareness and action are essential in maintaining the downward trend.

Tony Campbell, MCIA CEO says: “The sustained decrease in motorcycle thefts is a clear indication that coordinated industry-wide efforts are yielding positive results, providing hope for even lower theft rates in the future, and hopefully a reduction in insurance premiums.

Whilst this is encouraging news, the volumes of stolen motorcycles being recovered post theft has dropped significantly, meaning it is likely more are being shipped abroad. MCIA, representing the sector, are working closely with authorities to see what can be done at the main ports in order to understand the scale of the problem and put in place measures to combat the issue”.

Matterley Basin Gears up For The 2024 Motocross of Nations In The UK

Matterley Basin Gears Up For The 2024 Monster Energy Fim Motocross Of Nations In The UkIt’s here at last! The 2024 Monster Energy FIM Motocross of Nations is getting ready to go at the epic Matterley Basin circuit in the south of Great Britain, set to host the event for the third time in its short history!

The rolling Hampshire valley is a perfect setting for this massive event, with brilliant track visibility, dramatic elevation changes, and huge spectator areas which always create an incredible atmosphere for this monumental event!  Both of the MXoNs at this circuit have generated winning teams in the middle of a streak of victories, but also been more famous for their individual winners in the memories of fans!

The 2006 event was the second of a seven-year run of team victories for Team USA, but the legend that is Stefan Everts was racing internationally for the last time and took a famous double race win over the revered American James Stewart. That put Team Belgium 2nd overall with Team New Zealand in third.

In 2017, Team France took its fourth win in a run of five, but loudly-cheered local British hotshot Max Anstie defeated an in-form Jeffrey Herlings in both of his races to help put Team Great Britain on the podium at home, behind Herlings’ Team Netherlands trio and a solid team effort from winners France.

Since then, the last four editions of the Monster Energy FIM Motocross of Nations have all been won by the host nations! Team Netherlands achieving a historical first win ever in the event, at Assen in 2019, then in 2021, Team Italy gave the legend of Antonio Cairoli his only career MXoN Gold Medal on home sand at Mantova. Then Team USA ended an 11-year drought in the competition in impressive fashion, winning at their RedBud stronghold with massive home support!

Finally, last season, Team France triumphed in front of a massive home crowd at the incredible Ernee venue, aided by a 1-2 finish in the second race for Maxime Renaux and Tom Vialle.  It would probably be the shock of the century to see Team GB continue this trend with three riders who do not compete at GPs regularly, but as always with the Nations, and with Motocross in general, anything could happen!

Team France come in as defending Champions, and in fact they have won six of the last nine Monster Energy Motocross of Nations titles! With exactly the same line-up as last year’s event, Romain FebvreTom Vialle, and Maxime Renaux will be wearing numbers 1, 2, and 3, and despite an injury-interrupted year for the two 450 riders, Vialle has had a strong season in the USA and could be the glue that keep this winning combination together. They are the only team with three World Champions in their line-up, although as with all of last year’s top four Nations, none of them have scored a GP win this season.

Team Australia feature two of the biggest stars in Motocross racing with brothers Jett Lawrence and Hunter Lawrence both on factory 450 Honda machinery, joined by top Australian Championship rider Kyle Webster, and could well be the favourites for the event after finishing second last year.  It would be their first ever success at the MXoN, and in a country that speaks their language they could well have the busiest transporter area in the paddock!

Team Italy were surprise podium finishers at Ernee last year, and racing with numbers 7, 8, and 9 they return with the same trio that got them there in ’23.  Alberto Forato has been in good form since his return from injury, Andrea Adamo also finished on the podium in the final MX2 Grand Prix and has a point to prove after an otherwise disappointing season as defending MX2 World Champion. Andrea Bonacorsi had a promising first year in Grand Prix racing, switching from MX2 to MXGP early in the season and finishing tenth in the series.  An outside bet of getting there again, but all three are strong and consistent.

This weekend, Team USA is the defending Champion and historically the best nation of the competition with 23 Titles. Their line-up will be Aaron PlessingerR.J Hampshire and Christian Craig, and will want to win the first Chamberlain Trophy by Team USA in Europe since 2011.

Team Germany, bring Ken Roczen back once more to the MXoN after he took overall victory in the MXGP class last year, and joined by Simon Laengenfelder he has a good MX2 rider with him as well. Amazingly, Simon wasn’t born when their Open class rider, Max Nagl, first competed at the Nations, but the 37-year-old has dominated the German International Championship in his home country, and re-united with Roczen as two-thirds of their winning 2012 team, they could well rise to the podium.

Team Belgium have had a torrid end to the season with injuries, and at one point their participation looked to be in doubt, but Jago GeertsLucas Coenen, and Brent van Doninck will line up at Matterley. Both 450 riders have had injury-affected seasons, but Coenen will be looking to put a few 450s to shame with his blistering speed that saw him win the last three MX2 Grands Prix of the year!

Team Switzerland return with one of the most experienced line-ups with Jeremy Seewer, Arnaud Tonus, and Valentin Guillod, while Team Spain sees now double World Champion Jorge Prado spearhead their campaign for the podium, with the same teammates as last year I the shape of Oriol Oliver and Ruben Fernandez.

Eighth last year, Team USA look to have a stronger squad in 2024, despite the injury to their new 450 National Champion Chase Sexton. The legend of Eli Tomac will make his first appearance in the UK outdoors, and his addition is a mouth-watering prospect, especially alongside his experience teammate Cooper Webb, and the only returnee from last year’s event, Aaron Plessinger.  They are definitely contenders for the podium, maybe even the win!

Team Slovenia and Team Great Britain were the other top ten teams last season, and five-time World Champion Tim Gajser will be keen to prove a point after narrowly losing the MXGP world crown a week ago. Jan Pancar is a rising star capable of getting amongst the top guys as well! The home team bring veteran Tommy Searle back to the MXGP class, with 2017 Matterley winner Max Anstie coming across from the USA to get the home crowd roaring once more! The enigma that is four-time British Champion Conrad Mewse, who has defeated Jeffrey Herlings in the UK this year, looks to bring his domestic pace to the Nations for his home fans!

After a disastrous event in 2023, Team Netherlands wear numbers 52, 53, and 54 this year, but Jeffrey Herlings has been phenomenal at times this season and will be going all-out for a second Nations win for his country, especially alongside new MX2 World Champion Kay de Wolf and many-time Nations winner Glenn Coldenhoff. Definitely contenders for the top positions!

The 77th edition of the event will see the huge participation teams, including the special team representing FIM Latin America, and other teams coming from different continents such as Rep of South AfricaChileJapan, Venezuela and Brazil. With pride, passion, and patriotism all on display, this will be a Nations unlike any other!

It is a mouth-watering prospect to see the top American and Australian stars battle with the MXGP and MX2 elite at this incredible one-off event – you do not want to be missing this one!

World Superbikes, Aragon Britwatch!

World Superbikes, Aragon Britwatch!

The World Superbike Championship hurtles towards the season finale at Jerez and up until the Magny Cours round, it appeared to have been a dead cert that Toprak was going to run away with the championship. However, following a crash during the French round which saw him ruled out of the remainder of the weekend and also the following Italian round at Cremona scoring zero points over the two rounds allowed the gap to the top to close. Despite a return to racing at Aragon, Razgatlioglu was unable to secure a win at the track (which remains one of the few on the Calendar that he has yet to grace the top step at) appearing to still be suffering the after effects of the Magny Cours fall.

But how did the Brits do? Aragon is the longest track on the calendar and has also undergone a recent resurfacing, which drastically changed the general feeling along the grid. Particularly windy conditions further aided to level the field throughout the sessions.

World Superbikes, Aragon Britwatch!Sam Lowes

Sam had a difficult start to the weekend with a fall in Free practice, despite the crash Sam still finished the practice session 6th fastest on track.  Unfortunately, it didn’t get much better luck wise come Race 1 with a crash at turn 5 on the opening lap, which left him with an injury to his shoulder and left him unfit for the remainder of the event.

World Superbikes, Aragon Britwatch!Alex Lowes

Alex stated he is pushing the limits of the current package, despite this statement his pace and speed during the early stages of the weekend were impressive. Lowes had a strong qualifying which placed him on the second row in 6th position for race 1 and after the quick restart following his brothers crash in the opening laps, Lowes crossed the line 7th. In similar luck as his brother, a crash in the Tissost Superpole sprint race saw Lowes crash on the exit of turn 1 on lap 3 after running wide. He did remount but while trying to recover his positions highsided, which ended his race weekend after being declared unfit for Race 2 with left leg contusions.

World Superbikes, Aragon Britwatch!Brad Ray

The Yamaha MotoXRacing team rider had a remarkably good weekend, having qualified 17 for Race 1, Ray made up several places from the start before finally finishing 15th. Superpole Tissot Sprint race, again another good race which saw Ray battling the first part of the race within the top ten before shuffling slightly backwards and finishing just outside the points in 16th.  Much the same for Race 2 though a positive weekend for rider and team to reach the points zone.

World Superbikes, Aragon Britwatch!Scott Redding

Scott has said himself that the last couple of seasons that Argon had generally been a disaster circuit for him, however despite this Redding had a reasonable weekend. Qualifying 16th for Race 1, finishing in an improved 11th . The Tissot Superpole sprint saw the Benovo Action BMW rider within the top 10 but just missed out for Race 3 whereby he finished 11th. Redding has yet to announce his plans for the 2025 season following the announcement that the Benovo team will not be returning for another World SBK season on the BMW. Speculation is abounded that he could be making a return to UK soil within the British Superbike Championship, though nothing has been confirmed.

World Superbikes, Aragon Britwatch!Jonathan Rea

The “tough day at the office” continues for the Pata Yamaha rider. A middling finish of P12, P12 & P13 for all three races sees the struggle for both Rea and Yamaha team get the package in a competitive window. Rea has said “ The R1 needs clear track to take advantage of all its strong points, however being unable to get up with the front pack results in being stuck in traffic and being vulnerable on the longer straights”.

World Superbikes, Aragon Britwatch!Tarran Mackenzie

Tarran is still stuck on the struggle bus with the Petronas MIE Honda, results that I’m sure do not reflect the efforts of both rider and team, with last place positions throughout the weekend. With no news on his 2024 plans or updates on the package, will there be a 2025 partnership – seems doubtful.

There are two remaining rounds of the year which will herald the start of final rider plan announcements for those whose contracts are coming to an end. It is well rumoured that Brad Ray will be returning to the British Superbikes Championship onboard the OMG Grilla Yamaha’s as their 3rd rider, a move that shows the team has a clear objective to dominate in 2025 season with a strong rider line up of Kyle Ryde & Joe Talbot alongside Ray.

The paddock now moves to Estoril which will also see the final round of the WorldWCR championship, it will all come down to the final race on Sunday between Carassco and Herrera for the Championship crown.

Yamaha Motor To Collaborate With Car Company Caterham
Caterham Sports Coupé concept Project V
Developing and supplying an e-axle exclusively for prototype vehicles.

Yamaha Motor announced today its partnership in the development of a new electric sports coupé, referred to as ‘Project V,’ that is being led by Caterham EVo Limited, a UK-based subsidiary of VT Holdings Co., Ltd. (headquartered in Nagoya, Aichi Prefecture). The collaboration aims to advance the project toward mass production and commercialisation.

Project V is a development project for an electric sports coupé that inherits Caterham’s DNA, which prioritises driving pleasure with the principles of light-weight, simple and fun-to-drive. Caterham initially unveiled the concept car Project V at the Goodwood Festival of Speed in the UK in July 2023 and later at the Tokyo Auto Salon in January 2024. Currently, in collaboration with Tokyo R&D Co., Ltd. (headquartered in Chiyoda, Tokyo, hereafter referred to as Tokyo R&D), they are progressing with the development and production of a prototype vehicle, targeting completion around mid-2025, with a view toward mass production and commercialisation.

Yamaha is independently developing the e-axle, a key component of the  electric powertrain, and will supply its trial model for the Project V prototype. The company is engaged in the  development of advanced small and lightweight electric powertrains, which is Yamaha’s strength; in March 2024, Yamaha announced its entry as developer and supplier of high-performance electric powertrains into the  Formula E World Championship.

To create a more sustainable world, Yamaha will continue promoting the research and development of technologies that contribute to sustainability.

Richa Phantom 3 jacket now available in a new colour

Richa Phantom 3 Jacket Now Available In A New ColourA year on from introducing its third generation of the Phantom jacket to riders, Richa has introduced a new colour of the fan-favourite for its 2024 collection.

Now available in Navy/Grey/Red for men and women, the Phantom 3 jacket can be found in UK dealers along with black and black/fluorescent yellow colour choices (for men and women), and black/dark grey (for men).

The AA-rated jacket offers protection through its high-abrasion-resistant fabric material combined with ripstop, with safety stitching in high-risk zones contributing to its maximum safety offering. The D3O® L1 protectors safeguard the shoulders and elbows – and are upgradable to Ghost or L2. The standard D3O® central back protector can be upgraded to D3O® viper L1 or L2 – and even further protection can be added with the optional D3O® chest protection L1.

Protection from the weather hasn’t been overlooked, as a waterproof 8,000mm Aquashell LTZ membrane can be worn under or over the jacket, helping to keep you dry in a sudden downpour. But when the temperature heats up, you’ll keep cool thanks to Richa’s Airtech Control System, which provides ventilation in key areas. Additional air ventilation zips at the lower sleeves can be adapted to the rider’s preference for further comfort.

Practicality is an intrinsic part of the Phantom 3’s design and Richa’s designers have provided riders with two outside pockets, one Napoleon pocket and three inside pockets to carry all the essentials. The Phantom 3 has a short connection zipper to connect the jacket with any compatible Richa trousers.

The Phantom 3 jacket is now available in four colours – a new Navy/Grey/Red option, Black, Black/Dark Grey and Black/Yellow – and is available in men’s sizes S-6XL. The jacket is also available in women’s sizes S-4XL and in Black and Black/Yellow colourways. The Phantom 3 jacket has an RRP from £199.99 for both men and women.
