A couple of weeks ago, Luke Mossey made a welcome return to the National Superstock Championship with the Milenco by Padgetts Motorcycles Honda team at Snetterton Circuit. After an impressive performance there, where he secured a podium place finishing in third, that form continued this weekend at Brands Hatch in Kent.

The heavens opened just after the qualifying session had started on Saturday and Luke was fully caught out with some riders getting a quick fast lap in. Luke ended up on the 10th row in 25th position. This wasn’t ideal and it was going to be a big battle to get a half decent result. Luke bit the bullet and accepted the challenge. He got a flying start and soon was making an impressive impact on the field; he was soon within the top ten and he wasn’t stopping there! Passing riders at every opportunity the podium was suddenly within grasp, he got passed Josh Owens for third and then Joe Talbot for second. It was an incredible ride.

The position on the grid for race two was a huge benefit as he lined up in second place. He struggled off the start and dropped down to 4th place, he was eager to get going and soon got into a rhythm. On lap four he made it to the front of the pack and then he checked out. He was able to win the race by 2.7 seconds, he secured several fastest laps of the race and took a convincing win.

Luke – “I’m over the moon with the results this weekend. We had a bad start to the year, and I’ve been off a bike for a while. It’s nice to have given the chance by Clive Padgett and the Milenco Honda team. They have welcomed me with open arms, and I really feel part of the team already, everyone has worked so well together and to give them these results at Snetterton and Brands is a great feeling and I’m so grateful for this opportunity.

We got fully caught out in qualifying on Saturday with the rain and I ended up in 25th place on the grid. I think it’s one of my best ever rides to come through the pack like that, but everything felt right and the bike felt great.

To get a second place and a win is just a brilliant feeling. I’d like to thank all the Padgetts team but also all my personal sponsors and family that have continued to back my racing for many years. I will miss the round at Silverstone but will be back for Thruxton and I can’t wait to get back on the Honda again.”

As temperatures soared to 30 degrees at Brands Hatch, the Pirelli National Superstock with Moneybarn Vehicle Finance riders battled not just each other but also the sweltering heat during Friday’s practice sessions. Championship leader Davey Todd emerged as the man to beat, showcasing his prowess on the Cheshire Mouldings BMW by TAS Racing machine.

The day kicked off with Luke Mossey setting the pace in FP1, piloting his Honda Milenco by Padgetts Motorcycles to a 1:27.528. However, it was Todd who stole the show in the afternoon session, clocking an impressive 1:26.962 to secure the top spot in the combined times.

Tom Ward demonstrated strong form throughout the day on his Honda Armada Marine Cables Racing bike, finishing second overall with a time just 0.538 seconds behind Todd. Despite leading the morning session, Mossey couldn’t improve on his FP1 time in the afternoon heat, settling for third in the combined standings.

Matt Truelove showed consistency across both sessions, ending the day fourth quickest on his TAG Racing Honda. David Allingham rounded out the top five, showcasing the competitiveness of the BMW machinery alongside Todd.

The sessions saw close competition throughout the field, with less than a second covering the top eight riders. This sets the stage for what promises to be an intense qualifying session and race as the weekend progresses.

Scott Swann made significant improvements in FP2, jumping from seventh in the morning to sixth overall. Jamie Perrin, despite limited running in FP2, maintained a strong presence in the top ten.

As teams and riders now focus on fine-tuning their setups for qualifying, the combination of the challenging Brands Hatch GP circuit and the scorching weather conditions is sure to provide an exciting spectacle for fans.

Grover Aims For Turnaround At Brands Hatch After Challenging Snetterton

As the Pirelli National Superstock with Moneybarn Vehicle Finance championship heads to Brands Hatch, Clayton Grover is looking to put a difficult Snetterton round behind him and make significant strides forward.

Riding for Grover Stunts & Exclusive Fishing, Grover faced a series of setbacks at Snetterton. In Friday’s combined practice, he managed to finish 32nd overall. Qualifying saw further challenges, with Grover ending up 33rd on the grid with a time in wet conditions.

The race itself proved to be a test of resilience. Starting from the back of the grid, Grover fought his way through to finish 29th, just 38.858 seconds behind the race winner. His best lap of 1:56.944 showed glimpses of the pace he’s capable of achieving.

Reflecting on the Snetterton weekend and recent challenges, Grover said, “It’s been a tough run to be honest, lots of crashes which is not like me at all, problems with the bike and recovery. While I hate to use anything but myself as an excuse, we’ve not had it easy.”

He elaborated on the specific issues faced during the race: “We had the back brake stuck on the whole time, destroying corner entry and straight-line speed. It meant a good fight but for the wrong positions.”

However, Grover and his team have been working hard to address these issues. “Since then, we’ve had a trackday to sort the braking and suspension out,” he explained. “There’s a little more to find in qualifying to get onto the group we want, which I think we have.”

Looking ahead to Brands Hatch, Grover is optimistic about his prospects. “We’ve got lots of seat time coming up and hopefully progress,” he stated. “We will qualify higher, finish higher, and close the percentage gap on the front guys.”

The Yamaha rider is also keen to acknowledge the support he’s received and is open to further assistance as the season progresses. “Thank you to all that have helped out so far,” Grover said. “With a busy few months coming up, we welcome any and all help.”

With renewed determination and the technical issues resolved, all eyes will be on Grover at Brands Hatch to see if he can deliver on his promise of improved qualifying and race performances. The iconic Kent circuit could well be the turning point in what has been a challenging season so far for the Grover Stunts & Exclusive Fishing team.

It was a weekend of two halves for the INCompetition Sencat team this weekend at Snetterton. Without any doubt the biggest highlight was securing the teams first ever Bennetts British Superbike podium with Lewis Rollo, also in the process he gained another trio of Pathway Superbike race wins.

Freddie Barnes was caught out with the lovely British Summer Time that struck Snetterton this weekend which saw him crash out of race one but secured a solid 18th place in the main race on Sunday.

Josh Owens had a tough weekend with crashes and technical problems, it was just one of those weekends and the team will re-group and be back on form at Brands.

To say the weather conditions were mixed this weekend would be an understatement! The series has not had rain at the Snetterton race since 2008 and it certainly made up for it over the weekend. With numerous red flags and sessions stoppages it was a difficult weekend to keep on top of.

Lewis Rollo on the RSV4 Aprilia flourished in the wet conditions and went quickest in free practice three, sadly followed shortly by a crash. The team worked tirelessly to rebuild the back for qualifying which followed straight after but could not get Lewis out on track. This forced him to start from the back of the grid in 26th position.

Lewis took advantage of the conditions and got a fantastic start in race one, working his way through to 11th place when the red flag came out due to an incident. On the re-start he got a flying start and was soon knocking on the door of a podium position. With is being a 5-lap dash it was important to progress as fast as possible. He soon hit the front, leading his first ever British Superbike race. He was locked in a battle with Storm Stacey who took the win at the flag but gave Lewis and the team their first podium in second place!

Sunday was set to be dry, so it was always going to be difficult to achieve the same result against the bigger, more experienced full Superbike teams. He started on the front row in second place and although he lost some places, he still battled hard to take another Pathway win. The race was red flagged again due to rain but by the time the restart came it was dry again.

He was placed in 17th on the grid for the final dry race of the weekend and worked hard to secure the Pathway win, his 12th consecutive of the season!

Lewis – “What a weekend at Snetterton! It started off dry on Friday where I did my quickest time I’ve ever done around the circuit. Saturday and the rain came, I was quickest in FP3 but unfortunately had a crash which made me miss qualifying and forcing me to start from the back. The first part of the race was really good, I made up a lot of places. Changed to wets after the red flag, we got another good start and I managed to get up to the lead, leading my first British Superbike race was incredible. To get second overall for me and the team in our first season was just amazing, so pleased!

To start race two on the front row was another thing ticked off the bucket list. We held our own in the dry but did drop back, we had a small issue towards the end but happy with the result. In race three I managed to set my fastest ever lap around Snetterton which is brilliant as it has always been my bogey circuit. Thank you so much to all the team, sponsors, my family, and everyone that always supports me, this weekend was brilliant!!”

Pirelli National Superstock

It was not a weekend to write home about for Josh Owens in the National Superstock class on the Aprilia RSV4. The weather was a crucial factor, ever changing and hard to find the correct set-up to suit Josh. A crash in qualifying saw him start the race from 14th place. He worked hard in the opening laps and was riding well but unfortunately suffered a small brake issue forcing him to retire.

Josh – “It was a tough weekend, not our easiest time. We had a couple of issues and with the weather we lost a bit of set-up time. The team worked so hard to re-build the bike for the race. We made a step forward in warm-up but unfortunately in the race after a good start I had a brake problem and didn’t want to risk crashing at such a fast circuit, so I opted to pull in. Looking forward to being back up at the sharp end at Brands Hatch.”

Quattro Plant British Supersport

Freddie Barnes showed really good form this weekend on the Yamaha in the wet and dry conditions in the Quattro Plant British Supersport class and it was looking set for a good weekend. He managed to qualify in 17th place for the opening Sprint race on Saturday. This turned out to be wet, very wet! He was riding well but got caught out, like a number of others with the wet conditions and sadly crashed out, uninjured.

He re-grouped for the main feature race on Sunday, he started from 21st place and finished as 18th Supersport rider.

Josh had a tough weekend which ended up by having a brake problem and not being able to finish the race. We are not used to DNFs in the team, and I know we will be working even harder to make sure it does not happen again!

Freddie showed his determination, commitment and calmness having had a tumble, like many other riders over the weekend but continued to make positive progress on the steep learning curve that he is on.

Healey Debuts New Machinery At Snetterton Superstock Round

Lee Healey made a long-awaited return to the Pirelli National Superstock with Moneybarn Vehicle Finance series at Snetterton this weekend, debuting the brand new Staxson Fireblade after missing the previous round at Knockhill due to the switch in machinery.

The weekend proved to be a baptism of fire for Healey and his team, as they grappled with the challenges of setting up and understanding the new bike in varying weather conditions. Despite the hurdles, Healey’s determination and positive attitude shone through.

In Friday’s combined free practice sessions, Healey impressively lapped within a second of his previous personal best at the circuit. This was a remarkable achievement considering it was his first time on the new bike.

Saturday’s qualifying session brought wet conditions, requiring a completely different setup. Healey adapted well, qualifying 32nd with a time of 2:26.322. However, the team discovered they were running the wrong power mapping, which led to yet another significant change for Sunday’s race.

The race saw Healey finish 31st, with a best lap time of 2:01.640. While the result might not reflect it, the weekend was filled with valuable learning experiences for Healey and his team.

Reflecting on the weekend, Healey said, “With mixed weather conditions all weekend, I didn’t really manage to get into the flow with the new bike, but that will come. On the plus side, we completed the weekend with no dramas, and that’s a positive that we can build on.”

Healey also highlighted the challenges faced: “Friday free practice was the first time riding the new bike, so it was a big learning curve. Saturday required a wet setting, so it felt like a new bike again. Realizing the wrong power mapping was on the bike and releasing 20% more power meant we essentially had a third new bike for the weekend.”

Despite these challenges, Healey remains optimistic: “We are more than happy with the weekend. We just need to trust the bike and work together as a team.”

The rider expressed his gratitude to his team and sponsors, particularly James Buckingham for delivering “exactly what he promised, which is a mega bike,” and RatMally Graphics for their last-minute efforts in making the bike look its best.

As the series moves to Brands Hatch GP in ten days, Healey and his team will be working hard to build on this foundation. With more time to understand and fine-tune the new Honda, Healey will be aiming to climb up the grid and showcase the true potential of his new machinery.

As you would expect in July in the UK the weather did not fancy playing ball. Friday was dry and Billy was riding well, just missing out on the qualifying 12 and finished in 13th place.

The rain set in on Saturday and Billy topped the time sheets in Q1 and elevated himself into the final qualifying session. He was riding exceptionally well in the wet conditions and set a couple of purple sector times briefly putting him on pole. He was just pushed back in the closing stages to second but without any warning had a big crash and he took a bang to the head.

He was assessed at the medical centre and passed fit to ride but he wasn’t feeling 100% so opted out of race one and would make the decision Sunday morning to skip the whole weekend of races.

The team know they have a good dry and wet set up know and will move on to Brands with a positive mind-set. Billy will be back fighting fit soon.

Billy – “Everything was going well this weekend and I felt so comfortable on the bike. The team worked hard and well together, and we were looking forward to three races.

I would have started on the front row, but it just wasn’t right for me to do. I felt very beaten up on Saturday and not much better on Sunday so we couldn’t have raced and put my safety and other riders’ safety at risk.  We will be back and fully fit for Brands and ready to have another go at it.”

In Free Practice 1, held in drizzly and wet conditions, Jack Kennedy topped the timesheets with his lap of 54.024 seconds. Rhys Irwin and Luke Stapleford were second and third fastest, respectively.

Alastair Seeley bounced back in Free Practice 2, setting the benchmark time of 54.715 seconds in wet conditions. Shane Richardson (Astro-JJR Hippo Suzuki) and Luke Jones were second and third quickest in the session.

In the GP2 class, Keo Walker (RD Racing Triumph) was the fastest rider in the combined classification, placing 12th overall with a lap time of 56.437 seconds. Jack Nixon (Kramer Racing) and Owen Jenner (Kramer Racing) were the next quickest GP2 competitors.

Mikey Hardie (ROKiT Rookies Kawasaki) led the way in the HEL Supersport Cup, finishing as the top Cup rider in 15th overall with a time of 56.198 seconds in the combined classification. Lynden Leatherland (GL Fabrications Racing Yamaha) and Adon Davie (JDF Racing Ducati) were the second and third fastest Cup competitors, respectively.

The tricky wet conditions provided a challenge for the Supersport, GP2, and Supersport Cup riders, but with the top competitors in each class separated by small margins, an exciting qualifying session and races are in store.

Healey’s weekend got off to a difficult start in Free Practice 1, where he struggled to find the ideal bike setup. A red flag incident further compounded his troubles, limiting him to just four laps in the session. In the combined practice times, Healey finished 37th overall with a best lap time of 1:37.766, 7.860 seconds off the pace set by Joe Talbot (JR Performance Racing).

Free Practice 2 brought more misfortune for Healey. After making changes to the bike, he was taken out at Coppice corner on his out lap, cutting the session short once again. Reflecting on the incident, Healey stated, “FP2 we were back on track having made some changes, but unfortunately I only managed an out lap before getting taken out into coppice, cutting the session very short again!”

Qualifying proved to be Healey’s first real opportunity to get some laps under his belt. However, the changes made to the bike setup didn’t yield the desired results, and Healey was unable to meet the 110% qualifying time. Despite this setback, he was granted permission to race.

Determined to turn his fortunes around, Healey and his team made further adjustments to the bike setup after qualifying. The changes paid off and in Sunday’s warm-up session, Healey finished 35th with a lap time of 1:37.001, showing the signs of improvement he and the team around him are capable of. With a little more track time the results may well have been different but undoubtably showcase Healey’s ability and potential. Potential we will unquestionably see in future rounds.

In the race, Healey maintained a consistent pace and was closing in on the rider ahead. Unfortunately, he lost the front end of his Suzuki at Goddards corner and crashed out of the race, marking his second off-track excursion of the weekend. Healey commented, “The race was going well, we maintained a consistent pace and was gaining on the rider ahead. Unfortunately, I lost the front at Goddard’s and managed to find myself off the bike again for the second time in as many days!!”

Despite the disappointment, Healey remains optimistic about the future. He noted, “No major damage done, onto the next one. Taking positives from these weekends as we hope for the second half of the season to be stronger as we have a starting point for each track.”

Clayton Grover, riding the Yamaha for Grover Stunts & Exclusive Fishing, made his debut in the Pirelli National Superstock with Moneybarn Finance at Oulton Park for Round 1 of the series. Despite facing numerous challenges, Grover showcased his talent and determination throughout the weekend.

Arriving at Oulton Park with no prior experience of the track, Grover had to quickly adapt and learn the circuit while also competing in the highly competitive Superstock class. In the combined Free Practice sessions, Grover finished 35th overall with a best lap time of 1:43.963, demonstrating his ability to rapidly improve his pace.

Reflecting on his experience, Grover stated, “So I think the weekend went well considering. I had no idea on the track going there, so to learn it and be able to qualify for superstock in the same weekend I’m super happy with. Of course, there’s a lot more to learn but I think when we start going to tracks we know it’ll help.”

Qualifying saw Grover secure 34th place on the grid with a lap time of 1:43.088, a commendable effort considering his lack of track knowledge. However, Grover and his team had to make significant changes to the bike setup to address issues with support and power delivery.

“We have made massive changes to the bike as I was struggling a lot with support and power delivery, which we have fixed in some ways but caused problems in others, so need some more testing to find the right set up,” Grover explained.

In the 14-lap race, Grover battled hard, gaining three positions from his starting spot to finish 30th. Despite receiving a long lap equivalent time penalty of 3 seconds for cutting the course earlier in the race, despite this it was a very commendable effort and start to his season.

“The talent is just an insane level, but I had a great battle with a few other riders throughout the whole race, I know I need to be more aggressive off the start to try and hook on to the guys I need to chase,” Grover commented on his race experience.

Looking ahead to the next round at Donington Park, Grover anticipates a challenging weekend due to his inability to participate in the Friday free practice sessions. However, he remains optimistic about his chances and has already identified areas for improvement.

“Donington will be tricky as am unable to make the free practice on the Friday, so we will be straight into qualifying. I already have an idea of what I need to change to feel more comfortable and then see how we go. I believe we can improve on position and times,” Grover stated confidently.

Heading into round 2 at Donington Park, Clayton Grover faced a multitude of challenges for this round of the Pirelli National Superstock with Moneybarn Vehicle Finance. Despite difficult circumstances, Grover demonstrated his determination and skill throughout the weekend.

Arriving at the circuit in the early hours of Saturday morning after a tough week battling health issues and extensive travel, Grover knew he was in for a challenging weekend. “Going into the weekend I didn’t feel good. I had real rough week with my health and a lot of travelling. Getting in Saturday morning at 0100 was always going to be hard,” he admitted.

Jumping straight into qualifying without any prior testing, Grover managed to beat his personal best lap time within just two laps. “Jumping straight into qualifying is something that I won’t do again but I am impressed that within 2 laps I had beaten my PB. It shows where I could be with a bit of testing,” he reflected.

Grover and his team made significant changes to the bike setup, which seemed to yield positive results. “The new setup we have seems to of been a big leap really, but still unable to try it properly. We made another change for the race and I felt really confident to be able to run top 25 at least,” he commented.

Unfortunately, Grover’s race ended prematurely due to a crash on the opening lap, where he was collected by another rider. Despite this setback, he remains optimistic about his potential and is determined to bounce back stronger.

“I got off to a great start but unfortunately got collected on the first lap. I will maintain the feeling I had prior and push to get the bike fixed,” Grover stated, showcasing his unwavering resolve.

Kam Dixon (Kam Dixon Racing Yamaha) received a 3-second long lap equivalent time penalty for exceeding track limits five times, ultimately finishing 12th.

The race was not without incident, as several riders were unable to finish, including Richard White (Track Dudes Racing BMW), George Edwards (Dan Cooper Motorsport Honda), and Connor Thomson (Sound Advice Hearing / CRT Racing Kawasaki).

Unfortunately, two riders, Jake Campbell (MAD Academy Kawasaki) and Clayton Grover (Grover Stunts & Exclusive Fishing Yamaha) had a huge coming together in the warm up lap.

Clayton Grover, the reigning BEMSEE MRO Cigma Racing Clubman 1000 champion, showed promise at the Official Bennetts BSB Test weekend at Donington Park. Fresh off his championship-winning season, Grover used the event to assess the condition of his Grover Racing and Exclusive Fishing Yamaha R1M following a crash in Spain and to start working on finding a suitable setup for the upcoming season.

When asked about his expectations before the weekend, Grover stated, “After a crash over in Spain, it was a test weekend to see how the bike was, see if it was straight, and make sure all the repairs went as they should. Start to work out the bike and find a set up that can work as we are basically starting afresh with geometry and electronics. No pressure in times as hadn’t done the track at pace before.”

The step up to the Pirelli National Superstock class was an eye-opening experience for the former Clubman 1000 champion, who quickly realized the importance of data, feedback, and setup. “It made me realise the importance in data, that feedback and set up is way more important. At club level, I was able to ride round any issues and still be successful. The speed difference is a big jump,” Grover explained.

Despite the challenges faced, Grover and his team made progress in finding a setup that worked with the resources available. “We started to find the right set up with what we had, there is still a lot more testing to do. I was within 6% of the fastest lap so more than happy to be there for qualifying and we understand what we need to do for the next test days,” he said.

However, the weekend was not without its difficulties. “I struggled a lot with setup, felt like I was riding harder than ever before and going slower than I’ve been. I need to work out a ‘testing’ to do list and be stricter with it. I had some problems with the bike after the crash but we have found them before the first meeting. I missed the best condition session at the end and feel my times weren’t where they should be due to lots of changes,” Grover admitted.

Looking ahead to the next test day at Oulton Park, Grover plans to focus on developing the electronics, testing with a data logging system, and working on riding more smoothly. When asked about his expectations for the season, he replied, “I’d like to be in the points by mid-season in the dry. There’s a lot to do but believe we can.”

Having not ridden his Staxson GSXR1000R since October and with major works done on the bike, Healey and his team had to make several changes to get comfortable on the machine. After significant adjustments on Saturday morning, they made progress in the right direction, although there is still room for improvement on the front-end setup.

Healey expressed his thoughts on the weekend, stating, “Overall, I think the weekend was a success. My first BSB adventure was an eye-opener. Being amongst these top boys was a surreal feeling. To be amongst the best racers is somewhere I’ve always wanted to be, but I know I’ve got my work cut out.”

In the combined classification, Healey finished 36th overall with a best time of 1:38.308, which he achieved during the second mornings session. “I’m trying not to set my sights too high at the moment with regards to the rest of the season, but as long as I can qualify and get some bike time, I know I’ll improve and be more competitive,” Healey added.
