Ventura Luggage for Royal Enfield Super Meteor 650

Ventura Luggage For Royal Enfield Super Meteor 650Ventura EVO Rack and Pack system turns Super Meteor into Super Tourer in seconds

Royal Enfield’s Super Meteor 650 has bags of touring potential, but its retro lines are easily ruined by the hardware usually needed to carry luggage.

With Ventura’s EVO Rack, Super Meteor owners can switch between stripped-down cruiser and fully-loaded tourer in seconds, without messing up its custom looks.

Designed to be as discreet as possible, all the EVO Rack needs is the two tailor-made Ventura L-Brackets fixed to existing mounting points on the bike’s frame. The Rack then just slots into place and is ready for loading.

Once fitted, it can hold any Pack from the Ventura range: from the compact 12-litre EVO Jet Stream, ideal for day trips and Sunday cruises; to the massive 60-litre tour pack, which can easily swallow a week’s-worth of clothing and kit.

All the Packs are made from a tough and water-resistant laminated ballistic fabric, and have practical features like wide openings, glove-friendly zip-pulls, and carry handles for hassle-free use on and off the bike.

The ‘slide-on/clip-in’ sleeve-fitting system means they’re quick and easy to get on and off; no fiddly fitting procedure or complex straps and cords. It also stops the Pack from shifting around when riding.

The EVO Rack carries the Pack well clear of the rear wheel, and doesn’t add extra width like panniers do. It swivels 180 degrees, so the load can be positioned directly behind the rider, or over the rear mudguard when a passenger is on-board.

When luggage isn’t needed, both the Pack and Rack can be removed in seconds, leaving only the subtle L-Brackets in place and the Super Meteor’s rear end completely uncluttered. An optional Grab Handle (£25.95 including VAT) can be fitted in its place for an extra practical touch.

L-Brackets retail at £187.95 and the Evo Rack costs £96.95 (both including VAT).

A typical set up for the Super Meteor – L-Brackets, EVO Rack and the 22-litre EVO Jet-Stream Pack – retails at £493.85 including VAT. Once the L-Brackets and Rack are in place, the rider can opt for any of Ventura’s EVO packs.

Lowes leads the charge as Bulega impresses, while WorldSBK triumvirate face challenges

Lowes Leads The Charge As Bulega Impresses, While Worldsbk Triumvirate Face ChallengesAlex Lowes showed an impressive pace, setting a new lap record, and topping the timesheets on Friday.

Rookie Nicolo Bulega demonstrated immediate competitiveness in the Championship by securing second place overall, impressing with his performance. Multiple-time Champions Alvaro Bautista and Jonathan Rea had a difficult Friday.

Friday’s WorldSBK action at Phillip Island saw Alex Lowes (Kawasaki Racing Team WorldSBK) dominate proceedings, setting a new lap record and finishing atop the timesheets. Nicolo Bulega (Aruba.it Racing – Ducati) secured second place overall, while Andrea Locatelli (Pata Prometeon Yamaha), in third, showcased strong potential with a new lap record in FP1.

Danilo Petrucci (Barni Spark Racing Team) led the Independent contenders, securing fourth place overall, followed closely by Rookie Sam Lowes (ELF Marc VDS Racing Team) in sixth. Toprak Razgatlioglu (ROKiT BMW Motorrad WorldSBK Team) had a quiet start finishing tenth overall and Andrea Iannone (Team GoEleven) took seventh place.

However, Alvaro Bautista (Aruba.it Racing – Ducati), the Reigning Champion, finished 12th overall, while perennial contender Jonathan Rea (Pata Prometeon Yamaha) ended up in 16th place in the combined results.Lowes Leads The Charge As Bulega Impresses, While Worldsbk Triumvirate Face Challenges

“Today was good, we had some difficult conditions today, not many laps. Obviously, the format for the weekend has changed since the test. So, we’re in a little bit of a different mentality. We’re trying to look for an out and out performance. We must look after the tyres for 10/11 laps rather than 22 laps. This means we can play a bit more with the power of the bike, maybe have a bit more aggressive setting on the on the way the bike turns to use a little bit more the tyres. In the afternoon, honestly, we use the tyres from this morning to start with, didn’t feel too bad and then we used the SC2 front tyre which I quite like took the test when it was hotter and also by using it today it means we can focus on the SC1 tyre which gives me some more turning and helps me around the bike a little bit for the especially for 10 laps. I didn’t expect to be as fast as I was. Maybe with the SCT tyre for one lap, you can use the grip and then it was dropping a bit, and I was struggling to turn the back, so I’m sure there’s plenty of areas we can improve, but in general I’m positive, feeling good. Quite a lot of pretty good laps. My pace is staying OK we know that this year it was like there’s so many fast guys in such a in such a tight space. But if I can do a good qualifying, then I think I can be in the mix tomorrow and start the year 2024.”Lowes Leads The Charge As Bulega Impresses, While Worldsbk Triumvirate Face Challenges

Over 140 Entries Set To Battle During MotoAmerica’s Daytona Weekend

Over 140 Entries Set To Battle During Motoamerica’s Daytona WeekendMission King Of The Baggers, BellissiMoto Twins Cup And Mission Super Hooligan National Championship Classes Join The Daytona 200.

MotoAmerica, North America’s premier motorcycle road racing series, has announced a total of 143 entries for the three classes that kick off the 2024 MotoAmerica Championship at Daytona International Speedway, March 7-9.

The 82nd running of the Daytona 200 will feature 67 riders with 28 of those from outside the United States. The race can also boast of three past Daytona 200 winners (Josh Herrin, Brandon Paasch and Danny Eslick) on the 2024 entry list.

But the Daytona 200 isn’t the only race happening at the Speedway as the Mission King Of The Baggers, BellissiMoto Twins Cup and Mission Super Hooligan National Championship will also be in action on the high banks at the “World Center Of Racing” for what will be the start of their championship seasons.

The entry list for Mission King Of The Baggers is 16-riders strong, and it features defending class champion Hayden Gillim aboard his RevZilla/Motul/Vance & Hines Harley-Davidson as he battles against rivals Kyle Wyman and James Rispoli who represent Harley-Davidson Factory Racing.

The other American Big Twin motorcycle company, Indian Motorcycle, are represented by Tyler O’Hara, who is teamed up this year with fellow S&S/Indian Challenger rider Troy Herfoss, a three-time Australian Superbike Champion who will be making his Daytona debut.

And speaking of riders from other countries, the pride of Andorra, a MotoGP podium finisher, as well as a World Supersport and World Superbike multi-time race winner, Rubén Xaus is all-in on his Feuling Parts Harley-Davidson.

He’ll have to face Bobby Fong, who is back aboard his SDI/Roland Sands Racing/Indian Challenger. Then there’s the three-rider Saddlemen/Harley-Davidson team with Cory West, Jake Lewis, and Travis Wyman.

And let us not leave out the surprise signing of the off-season with Hayden Gillim’s teammate Rocco Landers also aboard a RevZilla/Motul/Vance & Hines Harley-Davidson.

Mad Monkey Motorsports’ Max Flinders is hopeful of duplicating or improving on his podium result from the last KOTB race in New Jersey in 2023 and Trask Performance is fielding Shane Narbonne.

Indian insider (he’s an engineer) Kyle Ohnsorg is back aboard a Challenger after a podium-reaching performance at COTA last year. Flat tracker Jesse Janisch is bringing his sideways-sliding style to the Suburban Motors H-D/Slyfox/Trask Performance team. And they will all be joined by Danny Eslick, the four-time Daytona 200 winner who will be aboard his Nowaskey Extreme Performance Harley.

Meanwhile, 25riders have entered the BellissiMoto Twins Cup series opener with two races around the 3.51-mile, 12-turn Daytona road course.

Defending Twins Cup Champion Blake Davis will start the season as the favorite on his Yamaha YZF-R7, but he will face a considerable challenge from both Aprilia and Suzuki-mounted riders.

The Suzuki attack is led by Team Hammer’s Rossi Moor on the new Suzuki GSX-8R with Vance & Hines also fielding Rocco Landers on a GSX-8R.

Aprilia, meanwhile, will be well represented by Robem Engineering’s Gus Rodio, who will be teamed up with Italian Alessandro Di Mario and wild-card New Hampshirite Ben Gloddy, who is returning to the team for at least one round (and maybe more?). And, speaking of Italy, new team TopPro Racing has brought in Romeo Chiavini to pilot an Aprilia. Those four will be joined by eight more Ape-riders ready to go “660” on the field of 25.

Along with Davis in the Yamaha YZF-R7 camp are former class champion Kaleb DeKeyrel, South African Dominic Doyle, and his Giaccmoto Racing Yamaha teammate Sonya Lloyd, who raced in last year’s Royal Enfield Build. Train. Race. program, and British-racer-living-in-Canada Jack Roach returns to MotoAmerica after a hiatus of a couple of years.

Thirty-five riders have entered the series opener for the Mission Super Hooligan National Championship with that class featuring 12 different manufacturers doing battle.

Making its debut at Daytona is the Yamaha MT-09 SP, a three-cylinder motorcycle that will be piloted by three different riders, including Italian-born, Switzerland-residing FIM Endurance World Championship-winning rider Niccolò Canepa.

Defending class champion Tyler O’Hara is back aboard his S&S/Indian FTR1200, Andy DiBrino returns aboard his Competition Werkes/Gray Area/KTM 890 DUKE R, and Stefano Mesa will once again be aboard his Tytlers Cycle Energica Eva Ribelle RS electric bike. Plus, there are seven Harley-Davidson Pan Americas, a couple of BMW R nineTs, two Ducatis, a pair of Suzuki SV1000s, an Aprilia Tuono, a Buell XB12XT, and even a Victory Vegas in the mix.

Yamaha R1: Past, Present and Future Race Winning Package

Yamaha R1: Past, Present And Future Race Winning PackageYamaha remains fully committed to racing the R1 in the premier production race classes worldwide, including the FIM Superbike and Endurance World Championships.

This commitment also extends to supporting teams and customers who race Yamaha’s flagship Supersport model or utilise it as the ultimate track tool.

Global production of the R1 will continue in the future, as will the development program that has seen the bike secure world titles in both WorldSBK and EWC. While the requirements of Yamaha’s customers have evolved in recent years, the R1 remains a popular choice for teams looking to secure a competitive and cost-effective race package and for individuals focused on enhancing their track experience. This is why from 2025, considering the challenge of meeting the Euro5+ homologation requirements, in Europe the R1 will be made available with specifications aimed exclusively at track use, as was done previously with the R6.

This is why Yamaha has invested heavily in making available to customers a range of GYTR performance parts for the R1, leveraging the experience of the same engineers responsible for the development of the R1 WorldSBK campaigned this year by six-time Superbike World Champion, Jonathan Rea. This project culminated last year in the launch of the R1 GYTR PRO 25th Anniversary Limited Edition and an extended range of race-developed GYTR PRO performance parts for the R1. In the past three years, additional investment has seen Yamaha establish an extensive network of GYTR PRO Shops across Europe, designed to share the knowledge and experience gained in racing the R1 at the very highest level with customers.

The R1 is a proven race-winning package, and Yamaha is committed to ensuring that it remains so for the foreseeable future, both in national and international competition.

Building on the brands’ solid reputation among electric bike enthusiasts, Vmoto aims to redefine the industry with this innovative model which bridges the gap from budget to high performance e-machines.

The Vmoto Stash, initially unveiled as a prototype last year, is now ready to hit the streets in its full production form. The model sets a new standard for electric bikes, offering enhanced power and sophistication. Notably, the best-selling company has transitioned from the ‘Super Soco’ branding to proudly wear the ‘Vmoto’ label, keeping all models under one banner, with the Stash marking its position as the flagship model in a more premium line-up.Highly Anticipated Vmoto ‘stash’ Set To Hit Uk In April

Designed by the renowned British designer Adrian Morton (from the European C-Creative style centre), one of the most famous two-wheeler designers of recent years., known for iconic creations such as the MV Agusta F4 and Benelli Tornado Tre, the Vmoto Stash boasts a captivating design that is sure to impress.

A standout feature of the Vmoto Stash is its innovative storage design. The space between the seat and handlebars serves as a spacious storage compartment, capable of accommodating most full-face helmets. Beneath this storage area resides a robust 100Ah, 72V battery, packing 7.2kWh of energy, which powers an electric motor mounted on the front of the swingarm, driving the rear wheel via a chain.

Highly Anticipated Vmoto ‘stash’ Set To Hit Uk In AprilThe motor offers a nominal power of 8kW (equivalent to 10.7bhp), making it suitable for L-plate riders as it falls below the 11kW (15hp) limit for 125cc learner machines. However, the Vmoto Stash delivers even more power through its ‘boost’ mode, pushing the peak power to an impressive 15kW (20.1bhp). This added boost not only enhances acceleration but also raises the top speed from 68.4mph (110km/h) to 74.6mph (120km/h) for brief periods, facilitating safe overtaking manoeuvres.

Additional specifications include a total weight of 143kg, an impressive range of 93.2 miles (150km) on a single charge, a compact wheelbase of 1373mm, and a comfortable seat height of 830mm.

The Vmoto Stash also features a unique braking system with levers on both handlebars, like a scooter, eliminating the need for foot controls. This combined brake system engages both the front and rear brakes simultaneously when either lever is applied. Both front and rear brakes are hydraulic, featuring discs at each end, with the front held by a robust radial-mount calliper. Furthermore, the Vmoto Stash includes standard ABS for added safety. Equipped with 17-inch wheels, the bike features high quality Pirelli Diablo Rosso (110/70 rubber at the front and 140/70 at the rear) as standard for the first 40 available in the UK, and as an option thereafter.

CEO, of the now manufacturer owned, Vmoto Soco UK following a takeover from the previous distributor in 2022. Clive Mann said, “We couldn’t be more excited for the Stash, this indicates a new era for Vmoto by bridging the gap between electric and ICE and providing not just high-quality but great value learner legal vehicles. 2024 will see huge pushes for us as a brand in the UK and worldwide, and this is just the beginning”.

Highly Anticipated Vmoto ‘stash’ Set To Hit Uk In AprilThe Vmoto Stash is priced at a launch only price of £6299 + OTR a higher price point than the current range-topping TC Max (£4499) due to its far superior performance and larger battery capacity. Via DunlopFor 2024, Dainese is pleased to present several new boots to its range of riding footwear – including the urban, sneaker-style Suburb D-WP, Suburb Air and a new colour to the sporty Nexus 2 boots.
Suburb Air
Suburb Air

Suburb
The new Suburb WP and Suburb Air are certified to CE – Cat. II – EN 13634 Standard, with rigid inserts on the malleolus area and soft D-Foam on the internal side for protection in the areas where it’s needed the most in the event of an accident. There is a gear shifter guard in PU to help with the longevity of the boots too.

The Suburb WP is constructed from suede leather and an abrasion-resistant fabric upper with a waterproof D-WP® interior, ideal for wet days. The Suburb Air has the same great look as the Suburb WP but, as the name would suggest, is perfectly suited to those warmer rides thanks to its highly ventilated construction of a microfibre upper and mesh lining.

To ensure comfort for all-day wear, both the Suburb Air and Suburb WP have an Ortholite® footbed and Groundtrax® outsoles. This technology has been specifically engineered to provide grip, stability and comfort on and off the bike. For ease, there is a bootstrap to help pull on the boots and fastening is achieved through lacing – with an elastic strap to secure the laces.

Outspoken ahead of Phillip Island

Outspoken Ahead Of Phillip IslandThe 2024 MOTUL FIM Superbike World Championship is one of the most talked about campaigns in the history of the Championship; with fresh rookies, a massively different line-up and all the usual statements and claims, this season promises to be like no other. Ahead of the first round starting, we caught up with all of the heavyweights – old and new – to get their thoughts going into the weekend.

Toprak Razgatlioglu (ROKiT BMW Motorrad WorldSBK Team): “Winning is my dream… when I think a lot, this doesn’t come true”

“I’m not feeling pressure but I feel excited because it’s my first round with BMW. It looks like we’re ready, but we’re not 100% because I’m still learning the bike and the electronics. The traction control is OK but we’re still working on engine braking. In the test, we made a good lap time and everyone is very happy but I’m just focusing on the race because when we finish on the podium, or maybe win, I’ll be happier. Tomorrow, we’ll try some different setups because we need to be stronger. The bike looks like it’s working here. It’s not an easy track, it’s not for my style, but we started the test very strong. This is motivation for me. The race looks like it’ll be fun because everyone will be watching a slightly different race as we have a flag-to-flag. I hope we don’t make a mistake and it looks like we’re fighting for the podium. Winning is my dream, but I don’t like to talk like this before the race. If I’m feeling good in the race, I’m fighting for the win. This is my target but I’m always dreaming of winning the first race. When I think a lot, this doesn’t come true.”

Jonathan Rea (Pata Prometeon Yamaha): “The overall feeling is mixed… we need to improve”

“I’m feeling more or less OK, not 100% but I woke up yesterday morning feeling quite sorry for myself. Today was much better and I hope tomorrow we can make another step. We start tomorrow for real; I’ve been waiting a long time for this moment. It’ll be a nice moment to roll down pitlane for the first official session of 2024 and get stuck in. The overall feeling is mixed. I enjoy riding the bike and working with the team. I’ve been fast, but to be really, really fast, I’m still demanding some feeling. Track by track, we’re getting there. The new surface threw us a bit of a curveball, it’s a completely different feeling. It’s got a lot of grip, so that riding style that I normally use on the bike isn’t quite working here. Right now, no. I feel my ultimate pace hasn’t been so fast. Even my race rhythm is not fast, and we need to improve. I really enjoyed Jerez and Portimao, but we need to make a step here. Right now, winning a race here, is a dream. The reality is we have a lot of work to achieve that but we won’t give up.”

Alvaro Bautista (Aruba.it Racing – Ducati): “Testing is testing, racing is racing”

“After the last day of testing here at Phillip Island, I felt a bit better especially because my physical condition improved a lot from the test before. I’m quite happy because it was the first time in pre-season that I started to feel the bike more, work on the feeling and try to increase my performance. It’s been a tough winter. At home, I worked a lot to recover as soon as possible but it was really slow. I don’t have any expectations for this weekend. It’s the first round of the season. It’s a long Championship. It’s difficult because testing is testing, and racing is racing. This year’s grid is really competitive, there are a lot of very fast riders. Honestly, I wouldn’t bet on any rider because anything can happen! The Championship is long. We are at Round 1, a very strange one for everything; my condition, the new schedule… we will try to do our best here, get the maximum and then think about the next one.”

Outspoken Ahead Of Phillip IslandNicolo Bulega (Aruba.it Racing – Ducati): “I don’t have targets”

“I’m feeling good. I’m happy and proud to be here with this team. I’m happy the tests are finished because I prefer races. It was a very good pre-season because the worst result was second. I think the last one here we did a couple of days ago was the best one for me because I was able to ride a lot with used tyres and I had very good pace. I’ve adapted to this bigger bike but nothing special, I just wanted to ride to understand it better. Alvaro missed some fast laps, but if you see his race pace, he’s always very good. I think he will be at the front. I don’t have targets. I’m enjoying riding this bike a lot. What I want to do is enjoy and stay towards the front if possible.”

Andrea Iannone (Team GoEleven): “We want to try and fight with the best riders… this is what I loved for all of my life”

“I don’t know what to expect because everything is new for me. I think that the format is totally different; I spoke with my team manager and he explained the rules, the way to start the Championship and everything. In any case, I’m very excited. It’s a strange feeling to be back but I’m happy to be back with all of you, the riders etc. This is what I loved for all my life. The pre-season isn’t bad; I’m a little bit surprised because the speed in general is high. We weren’t sure at the beginning because I didn’t ride the race bike but in any case, it was a good pre-season for us. We want to try and fight with the best riders but the top ten positions are our target. Step-by-step, we need to improve and in each race, we’ll improve.”

Sam Lowes (ELF Marc VDS Racing Team): “I feel like I’m a little bit more competitive than what I anticipated”

“It’s been a nice pre-season. I’m excited and proud of this moment. It’s a big thing for me to get here. I had a lot to learn and still do, coming into this weekend with the format, the setting of the bike and how to race the bike, and it’s going to be a different race here with many things to learn but I’m positive. I feel like I’m a little bit more competitive than what I anticipated. I think we can look at this season in a good way. I want to get into the season before making a big statement about my goals, but I feel like I can be competitive and fight for the top five and the podium and then see where we are.”

Alex Lowes (Kawasaki Racing Team WorldSBK): “It’s all about the last 5-7 laps”

“It’s been interesting to work with Pere Riba; obviously, Jonathan moved on at the end of last year, so the dynamics have changed in the team a little bit. The winter was spent trying to get to know each other and trying to get more out of myself and the package. Any teammate you’ve got, you try to work together to give the team the best chance of being competitive. Axel’s come in from some fantastic years on the Ducati; he finished sixth in the world last year, so he did a better job than me! He’s trying to prove himself in a factory team and brings the knowledge from the Ducati. He’s helping as well; he’s been a great teammate. He believes in himself a lot and it’s going to be a nice dynamic in the team. It’s all about the last 5, 6, 7 laps. The guys that look after the tyres the best get the best results. We spent 90% of the test focusing on used tyres and trying to make the tyres last on the new surface.”

Remy Gardner (GYTR GRT Yamaha WorldSBK Team): “Hopefully, we can put on a good show for the home fans”

“I’m excited and looking forward to it; with one year of experience, it’s nice to not be looking for the way to ride a bike. Everything is a bit more natural now. This is a nice place to start with the home race; I love the track and hopefully, we can put on a good show for the home fans. Pre-season was pretty good and I think we’re ready to go racing. A podium this year would be nice.”

Iker Lecuona (Team HRC): “We still don’t understand the bike”

“I had a big highside at Turn 11 and dislocated my shoulder; I need to say that until last night, I can’t ride the bike because it’s too much. However, when I woke up, I felt quite good. I spoke with Jose and did a check with the medical team here. I am ‘fit’ for tomorrow morning but this track is hard on the shoulders with the speed, the wind and the bumps. With the Honda, we have to work more than others on other bikes. I’ll try and then make a decision if I continue. I haven’t had time to try the bike in Australia properly but honestly, from what we expected, three or four out of ten, quite low… it’s a new bike and we need a lot of time to understand and take the most from it. We still don’t understand it and we still don’t have a good pace. The target is to find it here in Australia.”Outspoken Ahead Of Phillip Island

Dodge and WorldSBK team up to unleash their muscle for 2024

Dodge And Worldsbk Team Up To Unleash Their Muscle For 2024Dorna WSBK Organization proudly welcomes Dodge as the Official Car and Official Safety Car for the 2024 season.

The iconic American automotive brand is set to join an exclusive roster of partners, adding a new dimension of power and style to the world’s leading production motorcycle racing series.

Dodge will take centre stage as the 2024 WorldSBK Official Car & Official Safety Car. The partnership showcases the perfect fusion of character and speed, with Dodge muscle cars serving as the ultimate 4-wheel counterparts to WorldSBK machinery.

Dodge’s rich history of power and performance, both on the track and the drag strip, will resonate with WorldSBK fans as the thrilling roar of the new Official Safety Car is unleashed.

Two Dodge Challenger SRTs, equipped with the iconic 6.2L HEMI V8 engine producing 717 Hp, will patrol the MOTUL FIM Superbike World Championship rounds, providing a perfect match to the racing Superbikes. This level of performance not only allows for precise assessment of track conditions but also ensures officials can always intervene swiftly.

Completing the Dodge WorldSBK fleet are Durango SUVs, serving as the Race Direction and FIM Safety Officer official cars. The Durango combines high efficiency with practicality, making it an ideal workhorse for the championship. Two specs will be deployed on track: a Dodge Durango SRT Hellcat with a 6.2L V8 engine delivering over 710 Hp and Dodge Durango SRT featuring a 6.4L Hemi V8 producing 475 Hp.

The pinnacle of victory will be marked by the presence of the Dodge brand on the top step of the podium during the prize-giving ceremonies, symbolizing the rider’s triumph – a distinctive moment of unparalleled excitement and pure motorsport essence. A third Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat Redeye powered by the 807 Hp 6.2L Hemi V8 will also be on display next to the podium.

The Dodge Official WorldSBK fleet is poised to make its debut at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya, marking the first European round of the 2024 season. As the engines rev and the partnership unfolds, Dodge and WorldSBK are set to redefine the standards of speed, power, and performance on and off the track.

Phillip Island races to feature compulsory pit-stop

Phillip Island Races To Feature Compulsory Pit-stopAhead of the Grand Bridge Brewery Australian Round, it has been decided that the WorldSBK and WorldSSP races will take place under flag-to-flag rules, with a mandatory entry to the pits to change tyres for all bikes.

Based on the information gathered following the WorldSBK and WorldSSP tests at Phillip Island earlier this week and a report from the Fédération Internationale de Motocyclisme (FIM) Technical Director, the Race Direction together with the Phillip Island Grand Prix Circuit and Dorna WSBK Organization (DWO) have decided that to ensure the safety of all participants, rear tyres shouldn’t be used for more than 11 laps for the WorldSBK class and 10 laps for the WorldSSP class.

Additionally, the race distance for the WorldSBK Race 1 and 2 has been reduced to 20 laps and two extra sets of tyres have been allocated for each rider in both classes.

Gregorio Lavilla, WorldSBK Executive Director:
“The circuit has performed admirably with the new asphalt. While rubber is gradually laid down track conditions evolve, which present some challenges. Since the tyres were shipped out in late November to arrive for this opening round, there wasn’t enough time to develop specific tyres tailored to the current asphalt conditions. We have carefully assessed the situation, considering the early track activity following the asphalt’s being laid out and the two days of testing we conducted earlier this week. While conditions have certainly improved, they may not have improved enough, especially considering the challenging, fast-paced nature of this circuit layout. In such circumstances, we, in collaboration with Race Direction, the FIM and the Phillip Island GP Circuit, must opt for the safest option, which is of paramount importance.”

67 Entries From 13 Countries Set For The 82nd Running Of The Daytona 200

67 Entries From 13 Countries Set For The 82nd Running Of The Daytona 200The World Is Coming To Daytona International Speedway For The Great American Race, March 7-9

MotoAmerica, North America’s premier motorcycle road race series, is proud to announce that the March 9 running of the Daytona 200 at Daytona International Speedway has attracted 67 entries for the 82nd edition of the legendary race.

Although it’s affectionately called “The Great American Motorcycle Race,” this year’s Daytona 200 should more accurately be referred to as “The Great Global Motorcycle Race.”

For the 82nd running of the Daytona 200, which takes place March 7 through 9 on the 3.51-mile, 12-turn road course at Daytona International Speedway, a full 28 riders – nearly half of the 67 riders on the entry list – are from countries outside the United States.

The list of nations represented reads like a global competition akin to the Olympic Games, and the level of talent includes three past Daytona 200 winners (Josh Herrin, Brandon Paasch, and Danny Eslick), the 2023 MotoAmerica Supersport Champion (Xavi Forés), the two-time FIM World Endurance Championship-winning team of riders (Niccolò Canepa, Marvin Fritz, and Karel Hanika), a 13-time Isle of Man TT winner and all-time lap record holder (Peter Hickman), a four-time AMA Superbike Champion (Josh Hayes), a three-time Canadian Superbike Champion (Ben Young), and a two-time British Superstock 1000 Champion (Richard Cooper), just to name a few.

Here’s the rundown of the 13 countries represented:

Australia
Brazil
Canada
Colombia
Czech Republic
Germany
Guyana
Mexico
Portugal
Spain
Switzerland
United Kingdom
United States

“We are really pleased with the number of entries for this year’s Daytona 200, and also with the amount of foreign riders who are coming to race,” said MotoAmerica President Wayne Rainey. “It shows how popular the Daytona 200 is as one of the biggest races in the world. We’re excited to start our 10th year of MotoAmerica, this year at Daytona, and we wish all our riders the best of luck. It’s going to be a lot of fun to watch.”

Michael Dunlop, partners with Roadside Garages Kia for 9th consecutive year

Michael Dunlop, Partners With Roadside Garages Kia For 9th Consecutive YearRoadside Garages Kia Coleraine, in County Londonderry, is delighted to announce the renewal of its partnership with top motorcycle road racer and Ballymoney resident Michael Dunlop for the ninth year in succession.

With only 76 days until North West 200 week and 97 days until The Isle of Man TT, we’re certainly hoping that he’ll add further to his existing tally of 25 Isle of Man TT Wins.

Just 48 hours ago, Michael was crowned Motorcycle News’ Rider of the Year 2023 beating five other riders to claim the MCN award. Michael secured 50% of all votes the publication received despite the prestige of the other nominees, including: 2023 Bennetts British Superbike Champion Tommy Bridewell; fellow TT star Peter Hickman; World Superbike Champion Alvaro Bautista; MotoGP World Champion Pecco Bagnaia; and Britain’s Moto2 star Jake Dixon.

Dunlop won four races at last year’s Isle of Man TT, overtaking 23-time TT race winner John McGuinness as the ‘greatest living TT racer’. Perhaps more importantly, Michael is now just one win short of the all-time record of 26 wins, which is held by his uncle Joey Dunlop. At the TT, Dunlop was the fastest man during practice week and went on to stand on the top step of the podium in the Superbike race, both Supersport events and one of the Supertwin races. In the Supersport class, Dunlop recorded the first-ever +130mph average lap speed aboard his Yamaha R6 – built and prepared by his own team.

Roadside Garages Kia, already well known for its involvement in local charity, community, sport and road racing events, is the perfect fit to sponsor Michael as he once again embarks on a season of international road racing. Michael of course will be once again out and about in his stunning new Kia Sportage, provided by the team at Roadside Garages Kia.

“It’s brilliant to have the support of Roadside Garages again for 2024, especially the use of my new Sportage, which will come in handy with all the travelling that the new road racing season will entail,” said Michael Dunlop. “The team at Roadside has now supported me for the last 9 years, and I hope to see them once again in the Isle of Man.”

Ian Lamont, Roadside Garages Kia’s Dealer Principal, commented; “Motorbike racing is such a big sport in Northern Ireland, and particularly in the North West where we are based, so it’s an honour to sponsor Michael and we look forward to a successful 2024 campaign.”

Ashford Jumble on April 1st, no foolin’

Ashford Jumble On April 1st, No Foolin’Ashford Classic Motorcycle Show and Bike Jumble returns to the Livestock Market on Easter Monday.

Elk Promotions’ ever-popular Ashford Classic Motorcycle Show and Bike Jumble takes place on Easter Monday, which falls on 1st April this year, at the regular Livestock Market venue.

Ashford always attracts an impressive array of machines from across the decades. Last year was no exception, with ‘Best Heavyweight’ going to Steve Higgins’ 1951 1000cc Vincent Lighting replica and – at the opposite end of the capacity chart – a 49cc Norman Nippy MkII, owned by Kent local Steve Clark, taking ‘Best Lightweight’.

Alongside the British entries, there were also plenty of machines from further afield: in both senses of the word. ‘Best 1980-on’ was scooped by Trevor Ovenden for his original and unrestored 1982 500cc Honda CX500 Turbo, which he rode 237 miles to the show from North Yorkshire!

Visitors wishing to enter their bike into the 2024 show can do so online at www.elkpromotions.co.uk/enter-your-bike

Dunlop Sportsmart Tt Impresses At Suzuki Gsx-8r LaunchDunlop SportSmart TT was the chosen tire of Suzuki to equip the launch of its new GSX-8R in January, helping to extract maximum performance out of the new model.

The launch took place at the same Monteblanco Circuit that Dunlop used to launch SportSmart TT six years ago.

A track-capable bike requires a track-capable tire. In fact, the TT in the tire name refers to ‘Track Technology’ and signifies Dunlop’s commitment to superior performance on track.

SportSmart TT’s NTEC RT technology allows for its rear pressure to be lowered for track use, giving more grip by enlarging the tire’s contact patch. Its Speed Vent Tread, meanwhile, is a tread groove pattern that opens and closes when the tire turns, improving heat dissipation. On the front tire, a revised dynamic mould profile gives the rare balance between lower steering effort and optimum turn-in grip, delivering enhanced feedback and confidence when braking and turning.

Suzuki invited 50 journalists from more than 10 countries to the test, many of whom commented favourably on the bike’s behaviour with the SportSmart TT tires, noting it had “improved” when turning into corners, and that the tire gave “much more support” for the bike, resulting in good grip, stability and control when riding on tarmac.

“We are honoured to have played a crucial role in the launch of the new Suzuki GSX-8R,” commented Dmitri Talboom, Product Manager, Dunlop Motorcycle Europe: “Dunlop SportSmart TT’s combination of track-focused performance and road versatility perfectly complements the new GSX-8R, making it a great choice for riders that want to excel on both the road, and the track.”

Roberto Finetti, Marketing Manager, Dunlop Motorcycle Europe, added: “We developed SportSmart TT to allow riders to combine road and track riding, and are proud that this successful collaboration with Suzuki serves as a testament to the capabilities of both the GSX-8R and SportSmart TT. Congratulations to Suzuki for a highly successful launch.”Dunlop Sportsmart Tt Impresses At Suzuki Gsx-8r Launch

Krummenacher Takes First Motoe Win With A Wet Weather MasterclassThe FIM Enel MotoE™ World Championship field heads out on track on the Algarve to prep for another blockbuster season.

After a busy few weeks for the MotoGP™ riders in Sepang and Qatar, attention now turns to the FIM Enel MotoE™ World Championship as a three-day Official Test at the beautiful Autodromo Internacional do Algarve beckons for the 18-rider grid.

The test starts today and runs until the 23rd of February inclusive, giving the field plenty of track time to get back in the groove, get up to speed in MotoE™ and check out their first electric taste of Portimão, which debuts on the electric calendar this season.

Reigning Champion Mattia Casadei will begin his title defence, now with the LCR E-Team, and there are plenty more familiar faces from last year’s compelling title race returning to have another crack at claiming the crown in 2024. The likes of two-time Cup winner Jordi Torres (Openbank Aspar Team), first ever Cup winner Matteo Ferrari (Felo Gresini MotoE™), 2023 race winner Hector Garzo (Dynavolt Intact GP MotoE™) and the much-decorated Eric Granado (LCR E-Team) all head into the new season as leading contenders, and the test will provide us with some answers about who is looking strongest straight out of the blocks.

In addition, new teams – Aruba Cloud MotoE™ Racing, Klint Forward Factory Team and Axxis-MSI – will start their electric journey with the Ducati V21L in Portimao, and new faces will too, including the vast experience and CV of British rider Chaz Davies at the Aruba Cloud MotoE™ Racing squad.

#QatarTest: Bagnaia throws down the gauntlet with a final benchmark

#qatartest: Bagnaia Throws Down The Gauntlet With A Final BenchmarkThe stage is set for the world’s most exciting sport to go racing as testing concludes with a Ducati-Aprilia battle at the top.

His best pre-season ever? Reigning World Champion Francesco Bagnaia (Ducati Lenovo Team) pretty much confirmed so on Tuesday in Qatar, on the timesheets and thereafter debriefing the action. But the #1 plated Ducati had close company despite setting the first 1:50 of Lusail International Circuit, with teammate Enea Bastianini back in his own groove after a tougher 2023, within just over a tenth.

A close challenge on the timesheets came from Aprilia Racing’s Aleix Espargaro too, this time with some Noale factory company nearer the top echelons as well. But in fourth it’s Marc Marquez (Gresini Racing MotoGP™) within 0.075 of the #41 Aprilia…

#qatartest: Bagnaia Throws Down The Gauntlet With A Final BenchmarkDucati Lenovo, Prima Pramac, Pertamina Enduro VR46 & Gresini
It’s proven an exceptional test for the Bologna bullets, with six of their seven full time riders in Qatar finishing inside the top 10. First Bagnaia, then Bastianini, Marc Marquez in fourth despite a late crash within around 20 minutes of pre-season on the clock, and then Jorge Martin (Prima Pramac Racing) picks up the baton in P7.

At Pertamina Enduro VR46, there were plenty of positives too. Marco Bezzecchi was the first to go under the official lap record, set by then-teammate Luca Marini during the GP last year, and ended the day in P10. Now-teammate Fabio Di Giannantonio continued to shine though, just keeping the edge on the timesheets in P8 at the track he reigned in 2023. Alex Marquez (Gresini Racing MotoGP™) is one looking for more once competition starts under the same floodlights, ending the day in P13.#qatartest: Bagnaia Throws Down The Gauntlet With A Final Benchmark

Aprilia & Trackhouse Racing
As pre-season concludes, the closest challengers to Ducati on the timesheets were Aprilia, and flying much more in formation. After Espargaro had found pace where others kept looking for it in Sepang, Day 2 in Qatar saw the #41 end the test quickest Aprilia in P3 but with Raul Fernandez (Trackhouse Racing) shining in P5 and Maverick Viñales (Aprilia Racing) taking P6, both shooting up the order. Miguel Oliveira (Trackhouse Racing) also made a leap up the timesheets to P12. One thing of note on the tech side was the different tail units being used in the Noale camp, with Viñales and Oliveira taking the previous out for a spin. Who will run what when the lights go out to race?#qatartest: Bagnaia Throws Down The Gauntlet With A Final Benchmark

Red Bull KTM & Red Bull GASGAS Tech3

It looks like a satisfactory test for KTM in Qatar, with both Brad Binder and Red Bull KTM Factory Racing teammate Jack Miller going under the previous lap record. Binder also finished inside the top 10. It wasn’t all smooth sailing, however, with Binder stopping on his longer run with an issue while Miller crashed, rider ok. Whether the full potential isn’t yet unleashed or their cards are close to their chest we’ll likely find out during the GP… last season after what seemed like a more muted pre-season, the Austrian factory came out swinging and then kept swinging pretty consistently for the top five and the podium.

Meanwhile over at Red Bull GASGAS Tech3, rookie wonder Pedro Acosta claimed P15 in just his third MotoGP™ Test this year, while he also put in a convincing longer run where he lapped in the 1:52s. Teammate Augusto Fernandez, meanwhile, will be a looking for a bit more as racing starts, further down the order.

#qatartest: Bagnaia Throws Down The Gauntlet With A Final BenchmarkMonster Energy Yamaha
The progress of the M1 has been real during pre-season, but the search for one-lap pace continues, and that for rear grip. Both Fabio Quartararo (Monster Energy Yamaha MotoGP™) and team manager Massimo Meregalli want more, more, more, too. A longer exhaust was one approach being tested out to smooth out the power, with a view to that one-lap pace. But remember – concessions mean Yamaha, and Honda, can keep testing if they so wish. By the end of the Qatar Test though, Quartararo is P14 and new teammate Alex Rins P16 for now.#qatartest: Bagnaia Throws Down The Gauntlet With A Final Benchmark

Repsol Honda & Castrol/Idemitsu Honda LCR
HRC faced a challenging conclusion to pre-season as both new Repsol Honda arrival Luca Marini and teammate Joan Mir struggled with feeling under the weather in Qatar. Mir’s notable 1.1 second improvement from his qualifying lap in 2023 shows a leap forward, but the Hondas will be searching for even more as the four locked out P17 to P20, with Castrol Honda LCR’s Johann Zarco and Idemitsu Honda LCR’s Takaaki Nakagami heading the group too.

From a technical perspective, there is plenty of optimism, however, particularly surrounding the new engine and the new double-stacked rear aero aimed at planting the rear tyre, for grip and stability. The search for rear grip continues but Honda, like Yamaha, have those concessions. The book of 2024 testing is unlikely to close now and be left unread until the post-Jerez test.

That’s a wrap on the official pre-season tests though. After a blistering 1:56 club was established in Sepang with a number of founding members, at Qatar it’s a 1:50 club and it has one name in it: Pecco Bagnaia. That’s both a statement and a benchmark but this is MotoGP™, so it’s also a target. The rest will take aim at that as the paddock returns to Lusail International Circuit for the Qatar Airways Grand Prix of Qatar from the 8th to the 10th of March… so see you there!

SPIDI unveils Race One

Spidi Unveils Race OneThe new 100% Made in Italy gloves, in which racing heritage becomes a style experience

SPIDI releases Race One, the 100% Made in Italy gloves produced in the Safety Lab, the in-house laboratory where the first ever inclined motorcycle glove was created in 1977, designed according to the anatomy of the hand. A place that has always been dedicated to innovation, where today technologies for MotoGP – such as electronic airbag -, are developed, together with collaborations with the most influential streetwear brands in the world.

With Race One, heritage racing becomes aesthetic exploration. These gloves, in fact, reinterpret the racing DNA of the Brand, which has been partnering with two-wheel champions since the Seventies, and combine it with the stylistic research that distinguishes SPIDI in the world of motorsports.

Technologies have changed in 45 years, but the inspiration from which Race One was born is always the same. From the SPIDI headquarters located in Sarego-Italy you can indeed enjoy an ambitious perspective on the Alps which, majestic, invite you to face ever greater challenges, through increasingly ambitious projects.Spidi Unveils Race One

To translate into reality, however, inspiration must meet the perfect materials. SPIDI relies only on the best know-how in leather processing, which is an art in the Chiampo valley. It is in fact this Italian region where all best leathers for technical gloves come from. While in the same area, craftsmanship meets high-tech innovation to print the studs which, once incorporated into the gloves, deliver comfort in wearability and maximum protection in the event of a crash.

In the Sarego workshop, the worlds of racing and fashion merge inextricably into a unique goal: Race One. Innovation is the soul of this place that changed the history of motorcycling with its prototypes, including the first anatomical motorcycle gloves (1977), the first motorcycle jeans (1988), the first jacket with integrated airbag (1998), the first rider cooling device (2004) and the first anti-smog riding jacket (2019). Milestones of motorcycle gear, but also opportunities to test advanced technologies from which, for example, applications for the medical sector were born.

The colors of Race One are two, like its souls: black and white. The elongated lines reinterpret the concept of speed, recalling the acceleration and forces that these gloves are designed to challenge. Even the protectors placed on the glove are in balance between performance and style: obtained through direct injection and designed to limit abrasion in the event of a slide, with their design they become distinctive elements.

Craftsmanship and high-tech, racing and fashion, performance and comfort. In Race One contrasts coexist and strengthen the identity of the glove, giving life to a unique object, destined to leave its mark.Spidi Unveils Race One

Spray Protection for new BMW R1300 GS

Spray Protection For New Bmw R1300 GsFirst of Pyramid’s practical add-ons for the new BMW R1300 GS

British motorcycle accessory specialist Pyramid now offers two of their trademark accessories for the new BMW R1300GS – a front mudguard Extenda Fenda and rear-end Spray Cover. Both filling gaps where the bike’s standard equipment is lacking.

Spray Protection For New Bmw R1300 GsExtenda Fenda
A must-have for any GS owner, Pyramid’s popular Extenda Fenda offers much-needed protection for the exposed painted surface of the front engine casing, exhaust downpipes and oxygen sensors.

Styled to look as much like an OE part as possible, it’s hardly noticeable on the bike yet adds 140mm of length to the front mudguard. The extra surface area stops water, tar, mud, stones and other debris being thrown up at the bike by the front tyre.

Made from durable ABS it can withstand a lot of abuse, and it’s super quick and easy to mount. Owners have two options: plastic rivets for mechanical fitment or a sheet of specially sourced ‘Stick Fit Pads’ for those who would prefer not to drill their front mudguard.Spray Protection For New Bmw R1300 Gs

Splash Plate
Another simple addition that makes a significant difference, Pyramid Splash Plates reduce the amount of grit and grime thrown up by the back wheel.

Manufactured from aluminium and powder coated in a textured matte black finish, the Splash Plate creates an extension below & beside the number plate.

Designed specifically for the BMW R1300GS, it fits neatly beneath the number plate, without any modification to the bike, and comes with fittings and instructions.

The Extenda Fenda retails at just £21.99 including VAT and the Splash Platesells for £34.99, also including VAT.

Both are designed, developed and made by Pyramid in their Lincolnshire HQ.

Razgatlioglu leads the charge: WorldSBK Official Test hints at thrillling season opener

Razgatlioglu Leads The Charge: Worldsbk Official Test Hints At Thrillling Season OpenerIn the final test before the 2024 MOTUL FIM Superbike World Championship kicks off, Toprak Razgatlioglu (ROKiT BMW Motorrad WorldSBK Team) emerged as the standout performer, obliterating the lap record with an impressive time of 1’28.511s at Phillip Island.

His dominance was closely contested by Nicolo Bulega (Aruba.it Racing – Ducati), who despite a crash at Turn 4, managed to set an impressive time of 1’28.585s.

Meanwhile, Andrea Locatelli (Pata Prometeon Yamaha) showcased consistent form, securing third place overall. Andrea Iannone (Team GoEleven) also made waves with a strong performance, finishing in fourth position. The top five was rounded out by Michael Ruben Rinaldi (Team Motocorsa Racing). Alex Lowes (Kawasaki Racing Team WorldSBK) showed promising form, consistently in the mix and eventually finishing in fifth place overall.

Both Alvaro Bautista (Aruba.it Racing – Ducati) and Jonathan Rea (Pata Prometeon Yamaha) had a challenging final day of testing. Bautista struggled with discomfort aboard his machine due to a nagging injury, leading to a mixed performance as he finished in seventh place overall. Meanwhile, Rea endured a significant crash at Turn 11, leaving him visibly uncomfortable and down the order in 15th place.

Additionally, Honda encountered troubles with Iker Lecuona (Team HRC) sustaining an injury following a highside at Turn 11, sidelining him for the remainder of the test, while Tarran Mackenzie (PETRONAS MIE Racing Honda) also endured a crash at Turn 3, resulting in significant damage to his bike.Razgatlioglu Leads The Charge: Worldsbk Official Test Hints At Thrillling Season Opener

P1 | Toprak Razgatlioglu | ROKiT BMW Motorrad WorldSBK Team
“I was worried before, because I’m not usually strong at this track. But we started very strong, with a strong race pace. The problem was the rear tyre. After 10 laps, it was a bit destroyed with the new track surface because we have too much grip. I did a very good lap time; this is the lap record, but this is testing and not the race weekend. I’m just focused on the race and today, I was working for the race. For me, it’s important to get a good result, a podium, and I hope to fight for the win. The race won’t be easy because the tyre’s life is different. We don’t know yet if it will be a flag-to-flag race.”

#QatarTest: Bagnaia heads Martin as Aprilia and KTM close in

#qatartest: Bagnaia Heads Martin As Aprilia And Ktm Close InThe rivalry continues but the competition is on the chase on Day 1 in the desert

After Day 1 of action in the desert, it’s a familiar name on top: Francesco Bagnaia (Ducati Lenovo Team). But the reigning Champion was closely trailed by his key 2023 rival Jorge Martin (Prima Pramac Racing), just 0.220s adrift, and they had some closer company in Qatar. Aprilia’s Aleix Espargaro kept pace with the GP24s once again for P3, with Red Bull KTM Factory Racing’s Brad Binder close on the chase in fourth.

The day started a little dusty and windy, but once the sun began to set, we saw a flurry of time attacks come in. Bagnaia led the charge, though he still has a ways to go if he wants to reach the all-time lap record 1:51:762 set by Luca Marini during the 2023 Qatar GP.

#qatartest: Bagnaia Heads Martin As Aprilia And Ktm Close InDucati Lenovo, Prima Pramac, Pertamina Enduro VR46 & Gresini
Ducati’s momentum from Sepang seems unabated, with a focused testing regime centered on refining the new engine and evaluating different fairings and exhaust setups. Bagnaia and Enea Bastianini (Ducati Lenovo Team) both left it late until they went out on the full-spec 2024 machine, and found immediate improvements in their one lap pace.

Fabio Di Giannantonio’s (Pertamina Enduro VR46 Racing Team) hugely encouraging pre-season continues as he took P5 to help back up his Sepang performance, while Marco Bezzecchi (Pertamina Enduro VR46 Racing Team) finds himself outside the top 10 on Day 1. At Gresini Racing, Alex Marquez claimed seventh on the timesheets with Marc Marquez in P16. However, the eight-time World Champion recorded 58 laps on Monday, meaning he has now clocked over 280 laps aboard the Desmosedici without crashing.

#qatartest: Bagnaia Heads Martin As Aprilia And Ktm Close InAprilia & Trackhouse Racing
Sporting their sleek 2024 livery, Aprilia can certainly be encouraged by their performances on Day 1. Maverick Viñales (Aprilia Racing) spent a large portion of the day in P1 before slipping to sixth, while Aleix Espargaro surged up to that P3.

At one stage, three RS-GPs occupied the top three places on the timesheets, with Raul Fernandez (Trackhouse Racing) putting in a brilliant effort to join his factory counterparts at the business end of proceedings before ending the day 12th. Teammate Miguel Oliveira, meanwhile, was further down the order as the Noale factory continue working towards 2024.

#qatartest: Bagnaia Heads Martin As Aprilia And Ktm Close InRed Bull KTM & Red Bull GASGAS Tech3
There’s plenty of encouragement on the timesheets for the RC16s once again, with Brad Binder taking fourth just thousandths off Espargaro ahead. Meanwhile, the good reading continued as Jack Miller (Red Bull KTM Factory Racing) and rookie Pedro Acosta (Red Bull GASGAS Tech3) both in the 1:52s, while the latter spun the most laps of anyone with 73. Augusto Fernandez’ (Red Bull GASGAS Tech3) pre-season frustrations continued on Day 1 though, with the 2022 Moto2™ World Champion placing P20 while also suffering a crash in addition to some technical issues earlier in the day.

From a testing perspective too, the Austrian machinery was quite busy with two new specs of engine plus a range of different aero set ups on the programme.

#qatartest: Bagnaia Heads Martin As Aprilia And Ktm Close InRepsol Honda & Castrol/Idemitsu Honda LCR
There are plenty of reasons to smile if you’re a Honda fan, as it seems that progress seen in Sepang has kept rolling at Lusail. Johann Zarco (Castrol LCR Honda) was the top Honda rider in P9, and he did his time attack on the new aero they brought to Qatar. Joan Mir (Repsol Honda Team) was next Honda, a couple of tenths in further arrears, before Takaaki Nakagami (Idemitsu Honda LCR) and then Luca Marini (Repsol Honda Team), the latter of whom was feeling under the weather on Day 1. It seems the Japanese brand have settled on their new engine though, while all four riders used the new swingarm seen in Sepang.

#qatartest: Bagnaia Heads Martin As Aprilia And Ktm Close InMonster Energy Yamaha
Having claimed an opening day top 10, Tuesday will be an intense day according to Fabio Quartararo as the Yamaha star looks to find a way to make the M1 smoother and improve their grip on time attacks. That is the major issue facing the Iwata factory, and the 2021 World Champion believes they still have a lot of work to do to achieve that next step. New teammate Alex Rins was a little further down the order, but the all hands on deck continues for the Iwata marque with test rider Cal Crutchlow still putting in the laps too.

That’s it from Day 1! Tuesday sees MotoGP™ back on track in Qatar, with more track action from 14:00 to 21:00 (UTC + 3) – followed by a 15-minute practice start session. So join us on motogp.com, across social media and then live from Lusail for the last session of pre-season!

Infront Moto Racing and KTM AG Open Registration For Junior E-Motocross

Infront Moto Racing And Ktm Ag Are Excited To Open Registration For The 2024 Junior E-motocross SeriesInfront Moto Racing and KTM AG are excited to open registration for the 2024 Junior E-Motocross Series

Registration for the 2024 Junior e-Motocross Series is now officially open! Returning for a fourth term after being co-created between Infront Moto Racing and KTM AG in 2021, the 2024 edition of the pioneering, e-powered racing series will kick off in May at the MXGP of France. With last year’s edition attracting full gates of 40 young riders at every event, parents and guardians of interested riders are encouraged to sign up now to be in with a chance of securing a place.

Since joining forces three years ago to create the Junior e-Motocross Series, Infront Moto Racing and KTM AG have delivered on their mission to develop the skills of talented young racers who have dreams of one day competing in MXGP. The all-electric racing series continues to benefit every rider as all five rounds take place alongside selected events on the FIM Motocross World Championship calendar.

For 2024, the Junior e-Motocross Series will once again be contested over five rounds. The same racing format is also retained for the new season with all 40 riders taking to the track for a short qualifying session to determine gate pick, before lining up for two races in front of thousands of spectators. And just like the stars of the FIM Motocross World Championship, the top three riders overall will climb onto the podium to celebrate their success after their second moto.

The simple entry requirements for 2024 are that riders must be aged between 6-8 years old (age taken on January 1, 2024) and ride an electric-powered KTM SX-E 5, GASGAS MC-E 5, or Husqvarna EE 5. A commitment to entering at least three rounds must also be made with successful entrants receiving a special care package consisting of branded merchandise dependent on the bike they will compete on.

David Luongo, Infront Moto Racing CEO: “It’s clear that the partnership formed between Infront Moto Racing and KTM AG in 2021 to create the Junior e-Motocross Series has been really successful. We are now entering the fourth year of this series and the positive feedback we have received from the riders and their families throughout the last three years makes all of the hard work behind the scenes worthwhile. For every young rider out there, and their family, the experience of competing at MXGP races is something really special. For the manufacturers, KTM, Husqvarna Motorcycles, and GASGAS, they can gain valuable information on their bikes as they are being raced on the toughest tracks in the world in a competitive environment. Of course, e-powered motorsport is constantly evolving and for Infront Moto Racing, it’s really important to have this series running alongside the FIM Motocross World Championship.”

Federico Valentini, Vice President Global Motorcycle Marketing, KTM AG: “This year will see the fourth running of the Junior e-Motocross Series and I know that it will once again attract full line ups in 2024. It’s become really popular, and for KTM AG and its brands, it is really important for the electric-powered bikes to be raced in front of such a huge audience watching in person, or at home on television. As the global leader in offroad racing, we know how important it is for youngsters to be involved with something that is becoming quite prestigious. The memories they make will last a lifetime while at the same time, they are learning about the professional side of racing. This is really important because what the riders will learn cannot be taught anywhere else except for at the Junior e-Motocross Series.”
