Pole man Quiles and Salmela the ones to beat after Rookies Le Mans Qualifying

Pole Man Quiles And Salmela The Ones To Beat After Rookies Le Mans Qualifying

A hot afternoon, already a packed crowd and 25 teenagers determined to get their KTMs set up for the second round of the Red Bull MotoGP Rookies at Le Mans.

It was Finland’s Rico Salmela who spent the most time on top of the timing screens but Màximo Quiles stole the show by 0.028 seconds to take pole for Spain.

Cup points leader and Jerez Race 2 winner Álvaro Carpe was 3rd quickest but the 16-year-old Spaniard will start Saturday’s race from P9 on the grid thanks to a penalty for exiting the pit lane past a red light.

That promotes Malaysian 16-year-old Hakim Danish to the front row with Jerez Race 1 winner Marco Morelli heading up Row 2 as the Argentine 16-year-old looks to better his second place in the points chase.

Màximo on pole by a fraction
“That was good,” enthused the 16-year-old. “I changed the bike between FP2 and Quali. In FP2 I had a lot of chatter in the chicane, corners 9 and 10 when I went in on the brakes. So I talked with the suspension guy and they fixed it, it was better.”

“I knew I needed to improve it for the Quali because you have the new tyre and with much more grip that puts more pressure on the suspension and it will be the same in the race. Then I felt really good on the bike.”

“At the beginning of Quali, I was on my own because I didn’t want to get stuck in the group. I preferred to find the rhythm that I want to run in the race. Then luckily I caught the group at the right time, had some good laps, the slipstream and a reference and I did a 44.2. Still not perfect because in the last corner, I had to brake, I lost like .2 of a second there.”

“But I am really happy, we know I have pace for tomorrow and I will really push. I will try to break away, I will find my rhythm and be strong, we’ll see.”

Rico will do better
“That was OK, it was better than Jerez, Quali was a struggle there,” commented the 16-year-old with his usual grin, referring to his P9 in Spain.

“All day I had a good feeling with the bike, I could do P1 in FP1 and 2. Now, in the Quali I was feeling good, I couldn’t do a perfect lap but it put me second, I’m happy and tomorrow we’ll see, I’ll try to do a better race and improve the position from last year.” He was robbed of a win in both races.

“I wanted to run alone, there was a lot of slowing down in the group, I kept catching them in the wrong places. I didn’t want to do too many slow sectors otherwise you get penalised so I was a bit stuck in the group and I had to pass many riders on my fast lap but still it was OK.”

“The bike is good, more or less right, I had some moments with the front but I’m not sure if I will change anything or not, I will think about it.”

Álvaro in good shape
“I am happy with P3, that’s good. I had problems in FP1 and 2. But my KTM improved so much through the sessions and in the end, I am happy with the time, the place and the bike, it’s really good.”

“I have a penalty for the first race, dropping 6 places on the grid. But I am feeling OK because I am sure I am going to be in the race.”

“I’m looking forward to tomorrow, a lot more confident than last year because then I qualified way back.”

Hakim expecting a hot race
“I feel good with the bike, I finished P4, that’s good and I think I can do a good job in the race. I think it’s going to be a hot day tomorrow and I am confident in this bike in hot conditions.”

“I feel that I have the pace, I tried running alone and I can do that and go faster without anyone around so I think that will help in the race.”

“I am happy with the bike but I think we can still improve it so I’m going to talk to the guys and see if we should try something in the race.”

Marco loves the track and is ready to race
“I’m happy with that, very happy. The day was all good really. In FP2 I tried to get confidence, but it wasn’t quite there. Then in Quali with the new tyre, I pushed and I found the confidence and the limit.”

“I rode alone, this is good for the race, I know what I can do and I had a good pace and rhythm by myself.”

“I think that tomorrow with more adrenaline and pushing harder on race day I can go a little bit faster.”

“We’ll see because for sure it’s going to be a big group, the times are close. Maybe Rico can break, I don’t know, I will try to run with whoever is at the front, I like the bike and I love the track so let’s go.”

Ruche Moodley will be in the hunt
“I think I am well prepared for the race,” commented the South African 17-year-old who was 6th fastest but lines up in the middle of Row 2 thanks to Carpe’s penalty. “That’s the important thing. I don’t think it matters if you are on the front row or not because it’s a long race and I’m confident that I have the pace to run at the front.”

“I like this track a lot and last year I started further back so it really doesn’t matter. I’m happy with the bike, it’s really working well.”

Martin outpaces Pecco with new lap record as Marquez faces Q1

Martin Outpaces Pecco With New Lap Record As Marquez Faces Q1The stage is set for another super Saturday with key names split across Q1 and Q2 – and a home hero through.

It was an intense shootout for direct entry into Q2 at the Michelin® Grand Prix de France, with the spots in the top 10 going down to the wire. At the end of Friday it was tight at the top too, with just 0.187s separating the top three. Thanks to a new lap record, however, Jorge Martin (Prima Pramac Racing) reigns supreme ahead of 2023 duelling partner Francesco Bagnaia (Ducati Lenovo Team), with rookie Pedro Acosta (Red Bull GASGAS Tech3) making a statement in third and on team home turf.

For Martin it was a building session, with the #89 consistently running inside the top 10 before a fast lap with 10 minutes to go before improving to set a remarkable 1:30.388 on the Pramac rider’s final run. Bagnaia tried to fight back late, after briefly occupying the top spot with 20 minutes to go. However, Martin’s final sector was too good to match, leaving the reigning World Champion in second with Acosta finding time in the last 10 minutes of the the day to jump to third on the #31’s first time at Le Mans on a MotoGP™ bike.

In fourth after another cracking day was Aprilia Racing’s Maverick Viñales, who was a mere 0.269s from the top spot at the end of the opening day of action at the French GP. The Americas GP winner was ahead of Fabio Di Giannantonio (Pertamina Enduro VR46 Racing) in sixth who had a positive Friday after putting a fresh soft rear tyre in his final run.

Jack Miller (Red Bull KTM Factory Racing) was sixth after a strong finish to the day – setting a 1:30.699. However, it was not smooth sailing for Miller after saving a crash after running through the gravel at turn two. However at the other side of the box, Brad Binder (Red Bull KTM Factory Racing) had a tough day crashing for the third time on Friday, ending the day outside of the Q2 spots.Martin Outpaces Pecco With New Lap Record As Marquez Faces Q1

Aleix Espargaro ended a strong day for the Aprilia Racing squad, finishing the day in seventh, after briefly claiming the top spot. Behind Espargaro in eighth position after a great day was Prima Pramac Racing’s Franco Morbidelli who earned direct entry into Q2 onnce again after finding late time late in the session.

2023 winner Marco Bezzecchi (Pertamina Enduro VR46 Racing) was ninth clinching a Q2 spot and just 0.397 away from the top spot in the highly competitive field. And to the delight of the French crowd, home hero Fabio Quartararo (Monster Energy Yamaha MotoGP™) took the final spot inside the top 10 and by 0.010s, leaving some huge names to battle in Q1.

Most notably Marc Marquez (Gresini Racing MotoGP™) is now forced to go through Q1 on Saturday after ending the day in 13th. The #93 had a crash in the opening stage of the session, remounting, and then began to push in the last 10 minutes but he was unable to piece together a lap good enough for the top 10. Alex Marquez (Gresini Racing MotoGP™) will join him in Q1 tomorrow, after spending most of Practice outside the top 10 and crossing the line to end the day in 19th.Martin Outpaces Pecco With New Lap Record As Marquez Faces Q1

Binder and Alex Rins (Monster Energy Yamaha MotoGP™) will also prepare for a Q1 appearance on Saturday, hoping to join their teammates in Q2. Further down the order, the French crowd will also be cheering on Johann Zarco (CASTROL Honda LCR), who was 20th with work to do to improve.

Alonso obliterates the lap record to pull half a second on Esteban, Holgado

Alonso Obliterates The Lap Record To Pull Half A Second On Esteban, HolgadoIt was a quick afternoon for the Moto3™ field at the Michelin® Grand Prix de France with CFMOTO Gaviota Aspar Team’s David Alonso continuing to mark his ground in Le Mans.

The Colombian smashed the lap record for the second time on Friday, setting a remarkable 1:40.470. The #80 was ahead of teammate Joel Esteban (CFMOTO Gaviota Aspar Team), who was the only other rider inside the 1:40 bracket – but 0.480s adrift from Alonso. In third place after briefly snatching the top spot with 10 minutes remaining was Daniel Holgado (Red Bull GASGAS Tech3) – continuing to look like a race contender.

It was a dramatic session throughout with riders pushing to the absolute limit as the top spot changed hands multiple times between Alonso, Esteban, and Holgado. There were also a number of crashers, riders ok.

Meanwhile, returning to racing this weekend was Jose Antonio Rueda (Red Bull KTM Ajo), ending Friday in fourth but a mere 0.014s faster than Jerez winner Collin Veijer (Liqui Moly Husqvarna Intact GP), who rounded out the top five despite suffering a crash in the closing stages of the session at turn 13.

Can Alonso convert his pace and bounce back from Spanish GP disappointment? The first mission is to head through to Q2 via P2 at 8:40 (UTC+ 2), before qualifying from 12:50… so come back for more on Saturday!

Garzo takes maiden MotoE pole in Le Mans

Garzo Takes Maiden Motoe Pole In Le MansA new lap record and in uncharacteristic hot conditions? The stage is set for Round 2!

Under sunny skies in France, Hector Garzo (Dynavolt Intact GP MotoE™) has finally clinched his first pole position in the FiM Enel MotoE™ World Championship, having been one of the fastest in the field since this debut but missing that last stat. He did it in style too, with a new lap record of 1:39.995 making him the only rider to break into the 1:39s, but the chasing pack certainly weren’t far behind. Sophomore sensation Nicholas Spinelli (Tech3 E-Racing) tails the pole sitter by just 0.031 of a second for his second front row start of the season, and completing the front row in third is season opener polesitter Eric Granado (LCR E-Team).

In an extremely close Q2 session that saw the top seven riders split by just 0.312 of a second, Garzo managed to just keep his rivals at bay with that first-ever 1:39 MotoE™ lap of the Le Mans circuit. With Garzo on a run of four consecutive second place finishes stretching from the last round of 2023 to the first round of 2024, he has the best possible start to bring that streak to an end and take his first victory since Germany last season.

Behind, reigning World Champion and 2024 championship leader Mattia Casadei (LCR E-Team) managed to do a fine job of completing the qualifying recovery, by progressing through from Q1 and then taking 4th in Q2. He starts alongside Oscar Gutierrez (Axxis-MSI) who managed to improve his career-best qualifying one place to 5th and all at a venue he’s never been to before.

In the closing stages of Q1 there was some luckless drama for session-topper Kevin Zannoni (Openbank Aspar Team) who was the innocent party in a crash for Alessio Finello (Felo Gresini MotoE). Finello, who lost the front through Le Mans’ fast Turn 1, unfortunately collided with Zannoni’s machine as he went through the chicane. With no time to prepare a spare bike, Zannoni’s well-earned Q2 place was rendered almost immaterial as he was unable to take part in the session. Zannoni will line up 10th for tomorrow’s races. Teammate and 2019 World Cup Winner Matteo Ferrari’s (Felo Gresini Team) difficult start to the season continues with the Italian qualifying 14th after an issue midway through Q1 slowed his progress.Garzo Takes Maiden Motoe Pole In Le Mans

Practice and qualifying complete, there’s just one more thing to do for MotoE™ and that’s race! We’ll see you for Race 1 tomorrow at 12:15 UTC+2 and Race 2 at 16:10 UTC+2!

WorldWCR launches inaugural season with first test at Cremona Circuit

Worldwcr Launches Inaugural Season With First Test At Cremona CircuitThe FIM Women’s Circuit Racing World Championship kicks off with a showcase of international talent at a newly revamped Cremona Circuit on May 16-17.

The FIM Women’s Circuit Racing World Championship (WorldWCR) represents a significant advancement in motorsports, dedicated to highlighting the talents of female riders on an international platform. As a single-make series, all participants will compete using the Yamaha YZF-R7, focusing on skill and strategy rather than differences in equipment. This inaugural 2024 season will feature 24 riders from a variety of backgrounds, all poised to leave their mark on this historic championship.

These 24 WorldWCR riders will convene for the first time on May 16th and 17th at the newly renovated Cremona Circuit in Italy for a test – just one month before the series’ first round at Misano, the Pirelli Emilia-Romagna Round. The Cremona Circuit, set to also host WorldWCR and WorldSBK in September, has recently undergone extensive renovations to enhance track layout and spectator facilities.

Before hitting the track, the riders will meet with the WorldWCR Technical Staff. All Yamaha YZF-R7s will be set up and maintained by a technical crew managed by JiR’s Luca Montiron, mirroring the structure of the Yamaha R3 bLU cRU FIM World Cup.

The riders will participate in their initial briefings and be assigned their own Yamaha YZF-R7, which they will race throughout the six rounds of the 2024 season. After the initial bike setup is complete, they will engage in several practice sessions totalling 1h40 of track time on the first day. On Friday, further practice sessions will provide them with a full two hours to fine-tune their settings.

In addition to the WorldWCR riders and technical staff, this test will also engage key Championship partners, starting with Yamaha as the provider of the YZF-R7.

WorldWCR operates under strict regulations to ensure fair competition, with all riders racing on identical Yamaha YZF-R7 bikes. This bike, the latest in the legendary R-Series, with its high-torque 689cc engine and compact chassis, is ideally suited for the series.

The riders will use Pirelli DIABLO™ Superbike slick tyres, identical to those used successfully across all categories of the MOTUL FIM Superbike World Championship, where Pirelli has been the continuous official supplier since 2004. Scrambler Ducati presents the limited-edition cover kit for the Icon version

Scrambler Ducati Presents The Limited-edition Cover Kit For The Icon VersionScrambler Ducati presents the limited-edition cover kit for the Icon version and the clothing capsule collection in collaboration with Van Orton.

After the enormous success obtained in the European legs of the Next-Gen Tourthe cover kit for the Ducati Scrambler Icon customised by Van Orton Design now becomes a limited edition, available in only 50 units.

This first exclusive collection of interchangeable covers confirms the importance of the concept of customisation within the Scrambler Ducati universe, which has always wanted to represent a space in which to enjoy the pleasure of riding and self-expression. This latter concept specifically inspired the talent of Van Orton Design, an Italian duo among the most important exponents of European digital art, in the creation of this unique and colourful cover kit , in which their artistic identity merges with Scrambler Ducati creativity.

The collaboration between Scrambler Ducati and Van Orton evolves further with the launch of a capsule collection, characterised by a contemporary design and a strong personality: a collection of unisex streetwear-inspired clothing, in which the exploration of materials and new styles contributes to the creation of unmistakable garments.

Scrambler Ducati Presents The Limited-edition Cover Kit For The Icon VersionThe “Van Orton x Scrambler Ducati” cover kit can already be ordered in the Ducati dealerships. It will be delivered inside a special box with dedicated graphics in which the kit will be accompanied by a certificate of authenticity and a series of surprises in true “Land of Joy” style, including some collectible stickers to be used on any occasion or to make your bike even more unique. The capsule collection will soon be available for purchase both in the Ducati dealerships and online in the  “Scrambler section” of the Ducati Shop.

The Scrambler models within the Ducati range are the perfect choice for those who want to express their personality through a motorcycle with a unique and recognisable design, dynamic and fun, accessible and safe for everyday use. A motorcycle designed for those seeking freedom and wanting to share their style and way of being with others.

The Desmodue engine  of the new Scrambler Ducati generation has been modernised in its contents and is now equipped with a new eight-plate clutch, which is smoother in operation. The clutch is also more compact, thus allowing the lateral bulk of its cover to be reduced and offering more space for the rider’s foot. The new Ducati Scrambler has also been renewed in its technical contents and lightened by a total of 4 kg, thus obtaining a more manageable and easy to ride bike.Scrambler Ducati Presents The Limited-edition Cover Kit For The Icon Version

The new Scrambler Ducati is even more fun and safer thanks to the introduction of Ride by Wire accelerator management. This solution makes the engine response prompt and progressive at every speed and throttle opening angle, and allows the adoption of Ducati Traction Control, thus enabling the personality of the bike to be changed through two Riding Modes. The standard equipment is completed by ABS cornering, essential for making riding even safer.

To always stay connected with the “Land of Joy” Scrambler Ducati it is possible to browse the dedicated website, which has recently been renewed both graphically and in terms of functionality with the aim of making the family take a “step forward” also from the point of view of the digital ecosystem.

If you want the opportunity to spend a day riding motorcycles and hanging out at the racetrack with racers who have won 32 AMA National Championships and eight World Championships, then you should move “Rainey’s Ride To The Races” to the top of your bucket list.

MotoAmerica, North America’s premier motorcycle road racing series, is excited to announce that the fourth annual “Rainey’s Ride To The Races” will again take place on the Monterey Peninsula on July 12 in conjunction with the sixth round of the MotoAmerica Steel Commander Superbike Championship at WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca. And this year’s ride boasts even more racing legends than the previous year’s.

This year’s ride includes the following legends:

“I’m really proud of what ‘Rainey’s Ride To The Races’ has become,” said MotoAmerica President and three-time World Champion Wayne Rainey. “We’ve raised nearly $325,000 since we started the ride three years ago, and that money has gone to a worthy cause – acquiring soft barrier systems we use at our races for improved rider safety. Welcome To The Champion’s Back Yard For The MXGP of Galicia

It’s just a short drive for the teams this week from the MXGP of Portugal, as the FIM Motocross World Championship explores the new venue of the Circuito Municipal Jorge Prado near the city of Lugo in the north-west corner of Spain for the MXGP of Galicia.  And yes, you read that correctly, the circuit is named after the reigning MXGP World Champion, and that’s because it is located in the area where he grew up and first threw his leg over a motorcycle!

Lugo will become the 18th circuit in Spain to host a Motocross Grand Prix, but the first in the historic Galicia region.  The nearest previous MXGP circuit was La Baneza, where Antonio Cairoli and Ken Roczen won back in 2011.  The five most recent events in Spain have all been at Intu Xanadu Arroyomolinos, including the second round of the 2024 series which was a perfect weekend for Jorge Prado and Red Bull GASGAS Factory Racing in MXGP, with Kay De Wolf taking the victory there in MX2 for Nestaan Husqvarna Factory Racing.

The WMX Women’s World Motocross Championship will rejoin the tour for its third round, and the series has been a brilliant one so far with victory on home ground for RFME GASGAS Juniors MX Team’s Daniela Guillen in round one, followed by a stunning win in Sardegna for the De Baets Yamaha Team rider Lotte van Drunen.  The pair are locked together in a tie for the Championship lead, and once more the Spanish rider will have a home crowd to cheer her on! Van Drunen, as the most recent race winner, will carry the red plate, and she also loves the atmosphere when she is racing against the home hero! Lynn Valk will also be trying to break the deadlock of the top two after finishing behind them in third at each of the first two rounds.

The EMX125 Championship Presented by FMF series continues with its fourth round of the season, with Fantic Factory Racing EMX125 rider Noel Zanocz from Hungary holding a slender 8-point Championship lead over Racestore KTM Factory Rookies star Gyan Doensen. Spain’s Salvador Perez holds third for the RFME GASGAS MX Junior Team.

Welcome To The Champion’s Back Yard For The Mxgp Of Galicia

The reigning MXGP World Champion Jorge Prado heads to his home town with a white plate fitted to his Red Bull GASGAS Factory Racing machine, for the first time since the opening round, after losing the series lead to Team HRC’s Tim Gajser in Portugal. A tough day in the mud for all concerned, but especially Prado, sees the Slovenian with a 14-point gap that the local hero will urgently be looking to hack down and reassert his authority. Kawasaki Racing Team leader Romain Febvre now lies just 18 points further back in third, with Jeffrey Herlings in fourth, another 22 behind the Frenchman. The worrying thing about Portugal for the rest of the pack was that the Red Bull KTM Factory Racing legend seems to be back in a winning mood after taking the chequered flag in race two, and he is starting to get his season together.

After taking his first Grand Prix victory for six years in Portugal, Pauls Jonass lies in fifth place in the series for Standing Construct Honda MXGP, just six behind The Bullet and intent on his mission to stay consistent.

Overall the top contenders have had varied success in Spain, as Herlings has the most among them with 4 victories, two in each class, whereas Prado has two wins, both at Xanadu. Tim Gajser has to look back to his first MXGP title year in 2016 for his only win on Spanish soil, at Talavera de la Reina, but Febvre has yet to win a GP on the entire Iberian Peninsula! The two other winners in Spain that line up for MXGP this weekend include Jonass at Red Sand in 2018, and Valentin Guillod of Team Ship-to-Cycle Honda Motoblouz SR, who won the MX2 class at Talavera in 2015!

As the MXGP of Portugal has proven, Motocross is massively unpredictable and as we move into the second quarter of the season, the anticipated battle between the giants of the sport in MXGP is well and truly still on!

MXGP – World Championship Top 10 Classification: 1. Tim Gajser (SLO, HON), 252 Points; 2. Jorge Prado (ESP, GAS), 238 Points; 3. Romain Febvre (FRA, KAW), 220 Points ; 4. Jeffrey Herlings (NED, KTM), 198 Pts; 5. Pauls Jonass (LAT, HON), 192 Pts; 6. Jeremy Seewer (SUI, KAW), 157 Pts; 7. Calvin Vlaanderen (NED, YAM), 151 Pts; 8. Glenn Coldenhoff (NED, FAN), 149 Pts; 9. Kevin Horgmo (NOR, HON) 108 Pts; 10. Ben Watson (GBR, BET), 92 PtsWelcome To The Champion’s Back Yard For The Mxgp Of Galicia

Although Nestaan Husqvarna Factory Racing pilot Kay de Wolf has faced adversity in the previous two rounds of the MX2 World Championship, after winning the first three, he still carries the red plate heading to Galicia. The big question at the top of MX2 is how soon we will see the return of second-placed Simon Laengenfelder of the Red Bull GASGAS Factory Racing team, as the unfortunate German broke his collarbone in race two at Agueda. The gap at the top is now 30 points, with another 28 going back to the dominant Portugal winner Liam Everts, who has rocketed up the order for Red Bull KTM Factory Racing after missing the opening round due to a pre-season thumb injury.  That’s what two GP wins on the bounce will do for you!

Everts lies just three points ahead of Thibault Benistant, in fourth for Monster Energy Yamaha Factory MX2, then it’s only 14 more back to De Wolf’s teammate Lucas Coenen. Reigning MX2 World Champion Andrea Adamo has been shuffled back to sixth place, and now lies 78 behind the leader. After a fine 2nd overall in Portugal, Benistant’s teammate Rick Elzinga has jumped up from 9th to 7th in the standings.

If Laengenfelder, who won at Xanadu in 2023, doesn’t line up this weekend, then De Wolf would be the only one to race in MX2 at Lugo with a previous win in Spain on his record. That was, of course, the second round of this year’s series.

Whilst the title contenders are more spread out in MX2 than in MXGP, the action on track has been hectic and action-packed all year, and it would take bravery from anybody to predict a winner at this brand new circuit!

MX2 – World Championship Top 10 Classification: 1. Kay de Wolf (NED, HUS), 246 Points; 2. Simon Laengenfelder (GER, GAS), 216 Points; 3. Liam Everts (BEL, KTM), 188 Pts; 4. Thibault Benistant (FRA, YAM), 185 Pts; 5. Lucas Coenen (BEL, HUS), 171 Pts;.  6. Andrea Adamo (ITA, KTM), 168 Pts; 7. Rick Elzinga (NED, YAM), 159 Pts; 8. Mikkel Haarup (DEN, TRI), 154 Pts; 9. Camden McLellan (RSA, TRI). 126 Pts; 10. Sacha Coenen (BEL, KTM), 104 Pts;

Participants will learn how to keep the right position both in the saddle and behind the wheel, how to use their sight in the correct way, how to make the most of the braking power of both vehicles and how to manage emergency situations in a safe and aware way. The teaching relating to motorbike riding is based on the DRE Road format, the riding course designed and developed for all types of motorcyclists, from those who wish to improve their riding level, to all those who wish to try out the technological features of the Ducati range.

The technical clothing required for the course consists of a full-face helmet, leather or Cordura jacket and trousers, equipped with shoulder, elbow and knee protection, back protector, gloves and boots. For those who are without, it will be possible, subject to availability, to request technical clothing when purchasing the course.

The Porsche & Ducati Experience represents a unique experience, which testifies to Ducati’s commitment to excellence and has come about thanks to the synergy with another brand of the Volkswagen group.

The event is scheduled for June 29/30 and registration is already open.

New Storm Tracker from LS2 Helmets

New Storm Tracker From Ls2 HelmetsLS2’s popular FF800 Storm II gets two fresh graphic options for 2024, both offering riders a bright style for this season.

The two new ‘Tracker’ schemes blend a deep gloss black and carbon-look detailing, with a choice of contrasting Blue and H-V Yellow or rich Red graphics.

The Storm’s specification starts with the lightweight Kinetic Polymer Alloy shell, which comes in three outer sizes for the smallest, lightest possible helmet across each fitment range.

It’s aerodynamically shaped to keep the head stable and comfortable, and certified to the latest ECE22.06 safety standard.

The quick-release visor is 3D optically correct, scratch and UV-resistant, and comes with a Pinlock® 70 MaxVision™ anti-fog insert included as standard. Behind that sits a handy  drop-down sun visor, to deal with glare.

When the temperature rises, intake ports at the crown and chin, internal channels and exhaust ports at the rear allow an instant flow of cool air around the head.

The hypoallergenic liner is made from moisture-wicking fabric and is also removable and washable for season-long comfort and freshness.

Rookies in Le Mans – World Championship leaders and future stars

Rookies In Le Mans - World Championship Leaders And Future Stars

If the teenage KTM riders are short of inspiration as they arrive in Le Mans for the 3rd and 4th races of this year’s Red Bull MotoGP Rookies Cup they need only look at the leaders of the World Championships.

Ex Rookies head all title chases:
MotoGP – Jorge Martín – Class of 2014
Moto2 – Joe Roberts – Class of 2013
Moto3 – Daniel Holgado – Class of 2021

The Bugatti circuit will see those titles fought over by the best riders in the world, but before the lights go out for the Grand Prix, two Rookies races give the next generation their chance to shine.

The opening weekend in Jerez saw six different riders fill the podium places. It is title favourite Álvaro Carpe who heads the points thanks to 4th and 1st and the 16-year-old Spaniard clicked into high gear in Race 2 after missing a tiny fraction in Qualifying (6th) and Race 1.

South America rules Race 1
Argentine 16-year-old Marco Morelli lies 2nd in the title chase having won the opening race of his 2nd Rookies season with fellow countryman Valentin Perrone chasing him across the line. It was the 16-year-old’s first Rookies race and he bettered the far more experienced Spanish 16-year-old Max Quiles.

Race 2 showed how open this year is likely to be with Malaysian 16-year-old Hakim Danish being pushed back to 2nd on the line ahead of Brian Uriarte the Spanish 15-year-old.

Finland a threat
Arguably though one of the strongest riders in the opening round with two, well fought and very close 5th places, was Rico Salmela. The 16-year-old Finn led into the final corner on Saturday and was right there on Sunday. He stands 7th in the title chase and that is not a fair reflection of his pace.

These will be only the 4th and 5th Rookies Cup races at Le Mans, after a single race in Season 2, 2008, we did not return until last year when two dramatic and incredibly close 16 lappers resulted in a double victory for eventual Cup winner Angel Piqueras.

Chasing World Championships
Piqueras of course lines up on the Moto3 grid this Sunday and stands 7th in the title chase after 4 rounds. All but one of the riders in front of him in the points table are also ex-Rookies.

You can be sure that Piqueras and the majority of the MotoGP paddock will have their eyes on the thrilling Rookies Cup races in Le Mans, keen to see future World Champions in the making.

Broadcast
This weekend’s Rookies Cup races can be seen live on www.redbull.tv and on TV stations around the world.

Race 1 is at 17:00 CEST on Saturday and Race 2 is on Sunday at 08:45, the show starts 10 minutes before the race.

Further chassis revisions include new suspension settings, linkage seals and a smaller diameter linkage bolt to save weight while redesigned tank shrouds allow easier access to the adjusters on the WP shock. The seat height is 5 mm higher and wider at the lowest point for easier movement on the motorcycle while new Swedish-inspired graphics create a distinctive look.
All models are expertly crafted with the latest technology and rider aids, in addition to featuring an extensive list of premium aftermarket components to ensure each machine delivers best-in-class rideability. New for 2025 are Dunlop’s latest MX34 tyres, which provide improved acceleration and cornering, while ProTaper handlebars, ODI grips, and Brembo clutch and brake systems are retained for their proven performance and durability.Husqvarna Motorcycles Expands Motocross Line-up For 2025

Never Stop! KTM Responds To The Demands Of Orange Bleeders

Never Stop! Ktm Responds To The Demands Of Orange BleedersKTM is driven by innovation, extreme experiences and emotion. KTM also lives by the motto READY TO RACE and with the accumulation of 341 FIM World Championships since the late 1970s (and in virtually all motorcycle racing disciplines) is how racing steers the breed of the brand. It’s been over fifteen years since KTM last produced an authentic road homologated performance sports bike for the masses. The company is harnessing all its expertise that has been gained through efforts in MotoGP™, thousands of track laps, wins and podiums to fire the KTM 990 RC R to life.Never Stop! Ktm Responds To The Demands Of Orange BleedersEssential Information

KTM Roars Ahead: Unleashing the Dominant KTM 990 RC R Range. The principle KTM 990 RC R – which is set to roll off the Mattighofen production line in early 2025 – has a dedicated Supersport persona but will be homologated for street use. The all-new development embodies the fusion of Austrian engineering excellence and the ferocious racing DNA, delivering unrivaled performance while embracing the practical demands of the road. Instantly catering to the desires of orange enthusiasts fixated on track days and individuals seeking to maintain the adrenaline rush with an exceptionally capable street bike.

The KTM 990 RC R will excite enthusiasts with its street homologated model, but its race DNA will be intentionally unveiled in early 2024. The prototype will make appearances as a wildcard entry in non-point scoring outings across select European Supersport series’, igniting anticipation among fans. KTM believes in developing its newcomer to the stable in the most READY TO RACE way possible – through racing.

KTM is also filming a multi-part behind-the-scenes documentary about the R&D journey of the bike and its entry into the Supersport sector. This exclusive behind-the-scenes content will give viewers close, and not normally seen, insights into the fast-paced world of the Austrian based factory and what it takes to craft a motorcycle from an idea into reality. Follow the final stages of the research and development process moving all the way from the very beginning to the final unveiling of the finished street homologated version of the KTM 990 RC R. The first episode airs today – 7th May at 16:00 GMT. Be the first to uncover exclusive details – click HERE for the inside scoop.Never Stop! Ktm Responds To The Demands Of Orange Bleeders The Purpose

Over the last fifteen years KTM drip-fed sport orientated products to the public at a time when the company was extending its offroad racing prowess to the asphalt: the KTM RC8, the KTM RC single cylinder range and the track-only, limited edition KTM RC 8C were the prime examples. Across that period KTM has merged R&D, learning, and road racing accomplishments at a rapid rate. The company now caters to motorcyclists seeking a machine born from competition yet engineered to be the ultimate, advanced street tool. The search to minimize hard compromises brought on by overly sporty ergonomics and handling is over. The KTM 990 RC R has been years in the making and with a wealth of data garnered by titles and trophies in almost every category of various MotoGP™ categories. The bike represents the natural evolution of the current KTM RC line-up, yet its sporting potential allows for a straightforward conversion into a KTM 990 RC R TRACK edition. True to the READY TO RACE ethos, this edition is poised to make its debut in the second quarter of 2025.Never Stop! Ktm Responds To The Demands Of Orange Bleeders The Product(s)

The street homologated KTM 990 RC R boasts a 57 kg EURO5+ ready LC8c, honed for rasping torque (103 Nm at 10,500 rpm) and 128 PS, pumped out through the new ergo-crafted and condensed stainless steel muffler, and fettled through a shifter that can be reversed to race-shift as standard.

The steel frame has been engineered for dynamic performance, with increased weight bias towards the front end. It features a dedicated steering head angle of 25 degrees and offset for enhanced steering responsiveness. Beefed-up stiffness gives the right feel and stability under acceleration on bumpy roads or on racetracks, while also maintaining agility – especially at low speeds. A diecast aluminum subframe contributes to the ride.

Ergonomics are key to the KTM 990 RC R’s behaviour. Lengthy experimentation primed the six contact points on the tank for a better connection, leaning and ‘tucking in’ to ensure comfort but also support for knees, arms and lower pressure on the hands. A new fuel tank has been shaped as a main component of the ergo. Adjustable footrests play a part, as well as the fully adjustable WP APEX Open Cartridge Suspension, lightweight cast aluminum wheels wrapped in Michelin tyres.

The MotoGP™ heritage is evident with the wind-tunnel-chiseled aero wings that provide stability for braking and cornering, while other edges and profiling around the bodywork scream ‘racer’.

If there were any lingering doubts about this bike’s intended purpose, the minimal modifications required for the transition to the KTM 990 RC R TRACK EDITION should indisputably reinforce its racing pedigree. Crafted by KTM in its Austrian factory, the modifications strip away the road-legal essentials, incorporate protective components, fine-tune adjustments, and further customise and revise racing bodywork, including a full exhaust system. These modifications ensure that riders focus on lap times rather than leisurely rides. Additionally, the ease of repair, low maintenance requirements and extensive official dealer support provide further advantages.Never Stop! Ktm Responds To The Demands Of Orange BleedersThe Promise

Riaan Neveling, Head of KTM Global Marketing – “The KTM 990 RC R is a groundbreaking innovation for those who live for the thrill of cornering. It’s for those who lean close to the road, almost brushing their knees, and then push the limits, dragging elbow to the tarmac on the racetrack. This bike offers power and prestige without the exorbitant price tag. At last, we can unveil our KTM 990 RC R and introduce a truly exceptional motorcycle to dealerships in early 2025, fulfilling the anticipation of countless riders and race enthusiasts. Our DUKE Range and other Street products have garnered a loyal following for their distinct character; we believe the KTM 990 RC R will quickly attain cult status because it excels at the two things it was designed for so remarkably well. Success will be evident on the track, but the unparalleled experience for customers on the road will truly set it apart.”

The countdown to 2025 starts right now. Follow the final stages of development in the special documentary video series by clicking HERE.

Worldsbk And Circuit De Nevers Magny-cours Extend Partnership Until 2027WorldSBK and Circuit de Nevers Magny-Cours, one of France’s premier racing venues, are thrilled to announce the extension of their partnership, securing Circuit de Nevers Magny-Cours’ presence on the calendar until 2027.

The renewed agreement solidifies a new three-year contract, spanning the 2025, 2026, and 2027 seasons, emphasizing the mutual commitment to the continued growth and success of the MOTUL FIM Superbike World Championship. The announcement follows the success of the 2023 edition of the event, where attendance figures soared, exceeding pre-pandemic levels and establishing a robust foundation for the event’s future growth.

“We are pleased to continue our collaboration with the Circuit de Nevers Magny-Cours,” said Gregorio Lavilla, WorldSBK Executive Director. “The circuit has consistently delivered great racing moments and showcased the passion and dedication of the French fans. This extension reflects our shared commitment to providing the best possible experience for both riders and spectators. We look forward to the next years of competition at this world-class facility.”

Nestled in the picturesque Nievre department, Circuit de Nevers Magny-Cours has been a favourite among riders and fans for its challenging layout, technical sections, and enthusiastic spectator base. The commitment of the Nievre local government to the support of WorldSBK events at the circuit is unwavering, with an ongoing partnership that ensures the circuit is devoted to promoting and fostering the socio-economic development of the Nievre region.

As part of this commitment, a state-of-the-art race control room made its WorldSBK debut during the 2023 event. The infrastructure upgrade, featuring new monitoring facilities, was made possible through a joint effort between Circuit de Nevers Magny-Cours and the Departmental Council of Nievre, an investment integral to maintaining the circuit’s Grade B homologation.

Serge Saulnier, Chairman of the Board, Circuit de Nevers Magny-Cours, expressed satisfaction about the extended partnership, stating, “Extending our agreement is the result of close collaboration between Dorna teams and Magny-Cours Circuit. 2024 will mark the 22nd year of hosting the French WorldSBK round, a testament to the enduring loyalty between this championship and Magny-Cours. Our teams, supported by La Nievre department, consistently strive to enhance our infrastructure and ensure the safety of competitors. Next stop Le Mans: MotoE saddles up for Round 2

Motoe - Le Mens - PreviewAfter a dramatic season opener, the classic Sarthe venue welcomes the FIM Enel MotoE™ World Championship for more electric action.

Round 1 of the 2024 FIM Enel MotoE™ World Championship got the season underway in dramatic style at Portimão, with plenty to talk about ahead of the second round at the classic Le Mans. Reigning World Champion Mattia Casadei (LCR E-Team) is back in the hot seat, leading the standings thanks to two podiums in Portugal, but it’s just a single point in it at the top as Hector Garzo (Dynavolt Intact GP MotoE™) looms close following two second places at Round 1. And there are some key contenders looking to hit back against both.

The first will be Nicholas Spinelli (Tech3 E-Racing), who won Race 1 on the Algarve and then crashed out of the second. He also arrives from that blockbuster WorldSBK win. Eric Granado (LCR E-Team), who crashed out the lead in Race 1 and then fought for the podium before being forced to settle for fourth in Race 2, is another who’ll want a lot more in France. Jordi Torres (Openbank Aspar Team), a winner last year at Le Mans, likewise.

Meanwhile, Matteo Ferrari (Felo Gresini MotoE™) is looking for his mojo after a tougher first round, although his 2023 French GP proves his ability to bounce back. He crashed out the first race in an incident he got a Long Lap for and then came out swinging in Race 2, despite that, to take his first win of the year.

Riders who boasted some mojo in Portugal were the likes of Lukas Tulovic (Dynavolt Intact GP MotoE™) and Kevin Zannoni (Openbank Aspar Team), with the duo sitting P4 and P5 in the Championship ahead of a date with Le Mans. Tulovic is just two points adrift of Spinelli and will be hunting a first MotoE™ rostrum since his 2021 Austria win. Will that come this weekend? Or can he attack for the podium?

Two more races are coming up in Le Mans as the electric class returns to action at a legendary venue. Tune into qualifying at 16:15 (UTC +2) on Friday afternoon, before the two eight-lap battles get underway at 12:15 (Race 1) and 16:10 (Race

#WeRideAsOne travels around the world uniting the community

#werideasone Travels Around The World Uniting The Community#WeRideAsOne travels around the world uniting the community while celebrating a passion for Ducati.

On Saturday, May 4, it took place under the banner of passion and fun #WeRideAsOne, Ducati’s global widespread event that called together its community to celebrate the pride of belonging to the big Borgo Panigale family.

A special third edition which, this year, was also an unmissable opportunity to warm up the engines and prepare together for the event that symbolises Ducati passion in the world: the World Ducati Week, scheduled from 26 to 28 July at Misano World Circuit “Marco Simoncelli”. While the countdown is getting shorter by the day, tickets are already available on the Ducati website to take part in the most spectacular three-day event ever!

The official Ducati dealers were responsible for organising the event on Saturday 4 May in close collaboration with the 347 local Ducati Official Clubs. Together they created personalised itineraries for each city, with attention to the smallest details, to guarantee an experience full of fun and in true Ducati style.

#werideasone Travels Around The World Uniting The CommunityMore than 18,000 Ducatisti from more than 50 nations around the globe enthusiastically took part in the event, a number of participants constantly growing. From adrenaline lovers on the track to curious travel-lovers who explore new horizons, from off-road adventurers to those who prefer more relaxing routes, the goal was only one: to celebrate and share the same passion for the Bologna-based manufacturer!

Once again this year, the long Ducati and Scrambler Ducati parade coloured the most emblematic places on the planet , leaving an indelible mark on every road travelled. Ecuador, New York, Palermo, as well as Glasgow, Warsaw, Rio de Janeiro, Hawaii, Ningbo, Medellín, Mexico City, Auckland, and New Delhi: these are just some of the cities that were the setting for the unique parade and which experienced the magic of #WeRideAsOne, a truly world-class event.

#WeRideAsOne was celebrated in the UK by almost 1000 Ducati owners joining spectacular activities taking the Bologna-built bikes to racetracks, cities and the country.
Starting from the trackside, 180 Ducatisti gathered for a dedicated parade lap around the iconic Donington Park Circuit, led by ex-British Superbike and World Superbike racer Chris Walker on his Panigale V4R.#werideasone Travels Around The World Uniting The CommunityThe Ducati community showed its strength, presence and passion in several UK cities.
In London, the Ducati riders enjoyed the sights of St Paul’s Cathedral and Canary Wharf. Ducati Oxford visited the prestigious Blenheim Palace, the UNESCO World Heritage Site in Woodstock. Ducati Cambridge gathered its Ducatisti for a meet up at the gothic Peterborough Cathedral. Ducati Bournemouth accompanied riders away from the hustle and bustle of the city with the Sandbanks Ferry carrying them to explore Studland as part of their ride out. Cardiff drove to the iconic Tintern Abbey in Wales, while from Aylesbury they rode to Silverstone, joining a dedicated tour of the Silverstone museum.#werideasone Travels Around The World Uniting The Community

On its official Instagram channel, Ducati documented the activities that took place all over the world in real time, sharing photos and videos sent directly from the participants in stories. Anyone who wants to relive the day’s highlights can find content in the #WeRideAsOne featured collection.

Ducati is the only motorcycle brand in the world to offer an international event of this size. In fact, since its very first edition, #WeRideAsOne has established itself as a unique format of its kind, becoming a fixed appointment in the Italian motorcycle manufacturer’s calendar and all enthusiasts for every first Saturday in May.

The event fully embodies Ducati’s mission to offer unforgettable experiences to all enthusiasts, combining fun on two wheels with stunning locations and conveying a sense of belonging to a vast community that embraces Ducatisti, Ducati Official Clubs, Dealers and Company employees. What distinguishes #WeRideAsOne is the ability to overcome geographical borders and, on the same day, make all enthusiasts feel part of the same big family, regardless of the city they are in or the time zone.
