Immaculate Herlings & L.Coenen Victorious at the Mxgp of Lombok

The Selaparang circuit ran in the reverse direction today for the MXGP of Lombok, but the heat and humidity of the island on the edge of the Indian Ocean remained, and even increased from last week, to test some of the most elite athletes in the world of sport across two gruelling races for each class!

This event was part of the fourth Indonesian double header in the last seven years, and the MXGP class had always seen riders sweep both rounds, until this year when that trend was halted by Jeffrey Herlings, completing a perfect weekend when he won every race and topped every practice session for Red Bull KTM Factory Racing.  “The Bullet” claimed his 105th Grand Prix win, although he faced stiff opposition from Championship leader Tim Gajser, whose second overall increased his points lead as he holds onto the red plate for Team HRC.

Monster Energy Yamaha Factory MXGP rider Calvin Vlaanderen earned his second trip to the podium in as many weekends with two strong third places.

The MX2 class was dominated by Nestaan Husqvarna Factory Racing’s Lucas Coenen, enjoying his own perfect weekend for his fifth career Grand Prix win, and eating into his teammate Kay De Wolf’s points lead in the process. Mikkel Haarup equalled his best career result with second overall for Monster Energy Triumph Racing, ahead of Simon Laengenfelder who took third for Red Bull GASGAS Factory Racing.

Immaculate Herlings & L.coenen Victorious At The Mxgp Of Lombok

Jeffrey Herlings had topped the time tables in every session of the weekend, as well as winning the RAM Qualifying Race, as he lined up for the first race of the year, even taking the fastest lap in the morning Warm-Up by over a second from Tim Gajser!

It was the Slovenian, however, who took his fourth Fox Holeshot Award of the year, and defended moves from Herlings who was right there in second place from the first corner! Vlaanderen, Kawasaki Racing Team’s Jeremy Seewer, and Mattia Guadignini for Nestaan Husqvarna Factory Racing were all ahead of reigning Champion Jorge Prado! However, through an inspired series of waves and one corner the Red Bull GASGAS Factory Racing superstar leap-frogged them all into third and was snapping at Herlings’ rear wheel!

The Dutchman held off the reigning Champion, however, as he kept the leader just in sight, but not close enough to be eating his roost or to push too hard early on.  A few seconds behind Vlaanderen and Seewer, the battle raged for sixth place between multiple riders, with the older heads of Fantic Factory Racing’s Glenn Coldenhoff and Valentin Guillod for Team Ship to Cycle Honda Motoblouz SR prevailing for sixth and seventh ahead of their younger rivals. Guadagnini, Guillod’s teammate Kevin Horgmo, and Monster Energy Yamaha Factory MXGP’s rookie Andrea Bonacorsi played their part in a great battle, but finished in that order from eighth to tenth. They were all reaching for the cold drinks and the ice bath at the end of the race!

The leading pair started to stretch away from Prado, who could not rest with Vlaanderen, a week after his first overall podium of the year, pushing him all the way.  Just after the 25-minute mark, Herlings bit down on his mouthpiece and closed the gap, initially running off the track as he got one corner a little wrong, but on lap 13 of 17 he pounced with a superb inside pass on his rival! Any attempt to strike back was immediately halted for Gajser, who span to the floor in the following corner!

Just after getting the two-lap board, Vlaanderen attacked the #1 plate holder, and burst into third with a great run through the waves at the top of the circuit! The Spaniard immediately backed it off, finishing nearly 14 seconds behind the Yamaha at the close.

The race victory, the 198th of his incredible career, went the way of “The Bullet”, although Gajser increased his series lead further due to the late drop-back of Prado.

The start of race two was like an action replay with Gajser again claiming the Fox Holeshot ahead of Herlings, but the Dutchman launched out of the third corner in a wild-looking but decisive pass to take the lead immediately! Guadagnini had started strongly in third ahead of Vlaanderen and Seewer, while Prado languished in ninth and took his time to get moving!

Vlaanderen and Seewer both got past Guadagnini within two corners after half a lap, although Seewer suffered an off-track excursion and had to fight back from eighth position.  Guadagnini then also dropped his machine on the second full lap, ultimately finishing in 12th.

Meanwhile, Guillod had moved up to 4th position, and held on for that place for the duration of the race! Prado worked past Bonacorsi on lap five but had to put up with constant harassment from Seewer as the Kawasaki man would not let him relax, and as such he was unable to catch up to Guillod. The 31-year-old Swiss rider celebrated his best result for 8 years with a trademark massive whip, testament to his physical fitness in such tough conditions.

Vlaanderen secured his second consecutive overall podium with another lonely but solid ride into third place, but Gajser was not settling for second as he closed to within half a second of Herlings at one point!   The Dutchman confessed after the race that he was struggling with a clutch issue but brought it home to win by just over six seconds, extending his all-time records to 199 GP race wins and 105 overall Grand Prix victories!

Gajser restored his Championship lead over Prado to what he had before they came to Indonesia, back out to 34 points, but he will have one eye on “The Bullet” as the #84 closed his deficit to the leader by a mighty twenty points over the two weekends on the island of Lombok!  The fight will truly be on over the remaining eight rounds between the three multiple World Champions at the top!

Jeffrey Herlings: “I was very happy to get the win the second race because I had a little clutch issue in this second race but this is testament to how KTMs are built as kept going until the end,  and a big thanks also to KTM Factory Racing Team as I could not have won this race without them, so thank you to all the team and the guys at home working on it. All my sponsors, thank you and I’m very pleased with a 1-1-1 for the first time this year  “

Tim Gajser: “It was way better than last week you know, I was feel much better and more comfortable on the track too to attack! First race, I got a good start but made a couple of mistakes toward the end then Jeffrey (Herlings) got me. I thought that I could come back on him start to push but the next corner I crashed unfortunately. The speed was good though and I’m so happy with my starts as we work so hard with the team. We had a great battle with Jeffrey too in the second race but I had to settle in the end. A huge thanks to all my team and everyone around me.”

Calvin Vlaanderen: “It was solid, solid! I’m so happy to be back on the podium after last week, the confidence was definitely there this weekend and I felt good. I had a good first race in third and managed to pass Jorge (Prado) in the last couple of minutes because I was feeling strong. In the second race, I had to make the necessary to put myself in good position and try to chase the front two but they were a bit faster than me and I knew I had a good gap behind so I brought it home. Just want to say a big thanks to the team, my family, my girlfriend, really everyone who is supporting me back home in South Africa and the Netherlands. I’m just so stoke! Thank you so much”

Immaculate Herlings & L.coenen Victorious At The Mxgp Of Lombok

Lucas Coenen hammered home the point made with his win in Saturday’s RAM Qualifying Race, by claiming the fastest lap in morning Warm-Up.  However, it was Simon Laengenfelder, feeling much better with both the heat and his sleeping cycle thanks to the extra time here between the two GPs, who launched into the lead to claim his fourth Fox Holeshot Award of the year in race one!

In familiar style, Lucas Coenen battled into the lead before the end of the first full lap. His teammate De Wolf followed him past on lap three, as Haarup battled with Sacha Coenen and his Red Bull KTM Factory Racing teammate Andrea Adamo.  The reigning Champ slid to the ground as he tried to get past his younger teammate, giving himself a mountain to climb! Sacha then followed suit by nose-diving into the floor on the penultimate corner of lap six, allowing Haarup and the third factory KTM of Liam Everts into the fourth and fifth positions that they would keep to the flag,

On lap 11, De Wolf, who had just started to eat into the lead of his teammate, made a mistake and allowed Laengenfelder past, and although the Dutchman gave a spirited chase, he couldn’t get back in front of the German.  As Lucas kept his nerve to clinch his first Sunday race win in over a month, it took the Championship lead down to 59 points between the teammates!

Laengenfelder repeated his holeshot in race two, but again Lucas Coenen was lurking, passing his brother almost immediately, just before Sacha lost his wheels from under him on a corner jump, and would finally finish in 13th after a further crash halfway through the race.

Lucas then closed on Simon at the front, causing near contact as the German defended his lead, but then suffered a big moment on the corner before the end of the first full lap, allowing the young Belgian to fly past!

Meanwhile, Adamo was looking in determined mood, passing Haarup on lap two, but his teammate Everts did not yield, and the pair came together in a right hand corner collision that put them both on the floor! De Wolf was also struggling, a couple of mistakes including a crash after the big triple jump demoting him to a sixth place finish.

That came after he had been passed by Haarup, the Danish rider bouncing back from his disappointments of the previous round to then force past Laengenfelder for second position on lap nine!  Lucas Coenen was already 12 seconds up the track at this point, but Haarup continued to charge anyway.

The comeback of the race came from Adamo. In the humid conditions he showed a true Champion’s grit, passing Laengenfelder for third on lap 12, before closing in on Haarup to grab second place with two laps to go! That move looked to have dropped the Triumph man to third overall, until Laengenfelder tipped over two corners from home, allowing Everts past and promoting Haarup back up to second overall, matching his best career result from Portugal in April 2022! Laengenfelder had to settle for third on the podium.

Nobody could get near to Lucas Coenen, however, and the teenage Belgian cruised to a final winning margin of over five seconds, and the second perfect weekend of his season.  His fifth career GP win puts him now 49 points behind his teammate, and few would deny that he has the determination to make a run at the 2024 title!

After everybody in the series travels back to Europe, there is a week off before we head to the classic venue of Loket for the MXGP of Czech Republic.  Do not miss the continuation of these two epic Championship battles on the 20th & 21st of July!

Lucas Coenen: “First race was very difficult like for everybody. The heat was really high but I could cool down quite well between the races. I really did my own race in the second one, just passed Simon (Laengenfelder) and took it easy. I feel good so now we keep on going for the next one

Mikkel Haarup: “We messed up last weekend but we kept believing. I put a hell of a ride in the second race but first of all I want to thank Monster Energy Triumph Racing, my mechanics, the whole crew. They kept me motivated throughout the week and kept my head clear so we could focus on this weekend. I also want to thank all the sponsors and everybody at home for supporting us, it means a lot to me and keeps me motivated for the rest of the season

Simon Laengenfelder: “I was so happy about the first race, and also to keep Kay behind me. In the second race at the end my energy crashed and went slow but the mechanic wrote on the board that I would have a podium if I stayed so I just went for it. So I’m finished but I made it!”

Day two of the Quattro Group British Supersport Championship at Snetterton delivered a thrilling spectacle as changeable weather conditions threw the form book out the window, resulting in an unlikely podium and plenty of drama.

The day began with a wet qualifying session that saw veteran Alastair Seeley master the slippery conditions, claiming pole position with a time of 2:15.796 on his Binch Pro Yamaha. Notable absences from the podium included pole-sitter Alastair Seeley, who retired after just four laps, and Jack Kennedy, whose Honda Racing UK bike gave up the ghost on lap seven despite setting the fastest lap of the race.

Further down the order, the wet conditions caused chaos, with several high-profile retirements including Rhys Irwin, Eunan McGlinchey, and Shane Richardson, all falling victim to the treacherous track.

Garzo doubles down with wet weather Race 2 masterclass

Garzo Doubles Down With Wet Weather Race 2 MasterclassThe #4 completes a day of mixed conditions with the double – with Spinelli second and Torres returning to the podium in third.

Hector Garzo (Dynavolt Intact GP MotoE™) kept his nerve to perfection in a delayed and rain-soaked Race 2, outpacing Nicholas Spinelli (Tech3 E-Racing) to complete the double after the two made the break early on. The battle to complete the podium went down to a duel between Oscar Gutierrez (Axxis-MSI) and Jordi Torres (Openbank Aspar Team), with the veteran edging out the rookie to get back on the rostrum in back-to-back rounds for the first time this season.

Alessandro Zaccone (Tech3 E-Racing) completed the top five, with two riders just above him in the standings, Mattia Casadei (LCR E-Team) and Kevin Zannoni (Openbank Aspar Team), taking P9 and P15, respectively, to give the standings another shake up. Garzo fends off Zaccone for Race 1 victory

Garzo Fends Off Zaccone For Race 1 VictoryThe #4 secured another Sachsenring win to claim the Championship lead in the Saturday opener.

Hector Garzo (Dynavolt Intact GP MotoE™) emerged victorious in a red-flagged MotoE™ Race 1 at the Liqui Moly Motorrad Grand Prix Deutschland as the Spaniard rises to the summit of the World Championship with a second 25-point haul in three races. Garzo fended off polesitter Alessandro Zaccone (Tech3 E-Racing) as the Italian and teammate Nicholas Spinelli completed the rostrum.

An incident involving Oscar Gutierrez (Axxis-MSI) and Eric Granado (LCR E-Team) brought out the red flags on Lap 1, with the former being handed a double Long Lap penalty for the restart. More drama unfolded for Gutierrez as he then jumped the start for the five-lap dash, seeing him face two more Long Lap penalties, and when attempting to complete the first, the #99 crashed out. Granado was taken to hospital for a full check and was diagnosed with a small contusion to his head, so he stays there under observation and we all send him well wishes.

The race began again and was a Garzo masterclass to the flag, with Zaccone staying in touch but not quite close enough to make an attack. Spinelli’s third was just ahead of a group battle that saw Matteo Ferrari (Felo Gresini MotoE™) take P4 and his best result of the season so far.Garzo Fends Off Zaccone For Race 1 Victory

Martin halts Bagnaia’s charge as Oliveira claims Sprint podium for Trackhouse

Martin Halts Bagnaia's Charge As Oliveira Claims Sprint Podium For TrackhouseThe Sprint King extends his lead back to 15 points, Marquez vs Viñales goes down to a photo finish.

Jorge Martin (Prima Pramac Racing) converted pole position to a sublime Tissot Sprint win at the Sachsenring – extending his Championship lead to 15 points. Despite losing out slightly in the launch off the line, Martin battled back to the front to finish 0.676s ahead of Miguel Oliveira (Trackhouse Racing), who put together an impressive ride to follow Martin home in P2 and take Trackhouse Racing’s first rostrum finish in the paddock.

Francesco Bagnaia (Ducati Lenovo Team) completed the Sprint podium to put in some damage limitation, but some more headlines also went to a duel to the flag between Marc Marquez (Gresini Racing MotoGP™) and Maverick Viñales (Aprilia Racing) as the two crossed the line in a photo finish to decide sixth.Martin Halts Bagnaia's Charge As Oliveira Claims Sprint Podium For Trackhouse

As the lights went out it was Oliveira who was brieflly ahead on the run to Turn 1, before Bagnaia threaded the needle in signature style to launch down the inside of both the Portugese rider and Martin as the polesitter dropped to third. He didn’t wait there long though, launching his attack for P2 on Lap 2.

Meanwhile, Marc Marquez cracked on with a tough task ahead after qualifying down in 13th. The #93 made a solid start and latched onto the back of his brother Alex Marquez (Gresini Racing MotoGP™) in the battle for P9 early doors.

Martin soon pulled off a carbon copy of his earlier move at Turn 1 on Lap 3, this time on Bagnaia, but this time with the #89 running wide and handing the Italian the lead once again. It instantly turned into a dogfight at the front with Martin making a move stick later in the lap, and Oliveira then passing the reigning World Champion at the final corner.

Further back, Marc Marquez’ charge continued and he was on the back of Brad Binder (Red Bull KTM Factory Racing) in the fight for P8. The #93 found a way through at the end of Lap 4, and then soon began to set his sights on passing Raul Fernandez (Trackhouse Racing), who began to struggle as the Sprint progressed.

At the front, the front three were holding station but Martin was starting to get the hammer down as Enea Bastianini (Ducati Lenovo Team) arrived on the scene, having escaped the clutches of Franco Morbidelli (Prima Pramac Racing) and Viñales. Martin had extended his gap to over one second on Lap 12.Martin Halts Bagnaia's Charge As Oliveira Claims Sprint Podium For Trackhouse

Further back, there was some drama for the #31 as any point-scoring hopes were quickly taken away from Pedro Acosta (Red Bull GASGAS Tech3) with a trip through the gravel – dropping down to last position, but able to rejoin.

Down to the final lap at the front though, everything was still to play for in the podium fight and the duel behind. Martin was in just enough clear air to hold off Oliveira, who likewise kept himself with just enough in hand to take some historic silverware for Trackhouse.

Ducati Lenovo Team had to hold their breath as Bastianini swarmed behind Bagnaia, but over the line the reigning Champion kept it, ensuring Martin’s win only extends his lead by five points. Bastianini was forced to settle for fourth, with Morbidelli taking fifth and one of his best finishes of the year after accelerating away from Viñales.

Binder and Alex Marquez also battled to the line to decide the final spots inside of the Sprint points at the Sachsenring, split by just a tenth and a half. For full results, click below!

After a Saturday of storylines we know Sunday only offers the chance to make more. Can Martin complete the double? Will Bagnaia hit back? Can Marquez use those laps to make more progress… and can Aprilia stay in that fight at the front? We’ll find out at 14:00 (UTC +2)!Martin Halts Bagnaia's Charge As Oliveira Claims Sprint Podium For Trackhouse

Q1 to pole: Vietti pips Dixon to Saturday honours

Q1 To Pole: Vietti Pips Dixon To Saturday HonoursFor the first time since the 2023 San Marino GP, Celestino Vietti (Red Bull KTM Ajo) will launch from pole position in a Moto2™ race.

The Italian’s 1:22.778 was good enough to beat second place Jake Dixon (CFMOTO Polarcube Aspar Team) by 0.047s, with Fermin Aldeguer (MB Conveyors SpeedUp) completing the intermediate class front row in Germany.

– World Championship leader, Sergio Garcia (MT Helmets – MSI), will propel himself from a disappointing P12 as a late crash at Turn 1 saw the Spaniard unable to improve in the closing stages.

– Just over a week after fracturing his right collarbone in Assen, Joe Roberts (OnlyFans American Racing) starts one place higher on the grid than title rival Garcia in P11 as the American aims to earn some decent points on Sunday before the summer break.

With second in the title race Ai Ogura (MT Helmets – MSI) qualifying in P7, Sunday’s Moto2™ race at 12:15 local time (UTC +2) is set to be an intriguing affair.Q1 To Pole: Vietti Pips Dixon To Saturday Honours

Herlings & L.Coenen Repeat the Feat With RAM Qualifying Race Wins

The MXGP World Motocross Championship riders tackled the Selaparang circuit in reverse direction today for the RAM Qualifying Races, although the oppressive heat and humidity remained to continually test the athletes to their limits as they pushed for points and gate selection positions.

In MXGP it was a second straight RAM Qualifying Race win for Red Bull KTM Factory Racing star Jeffrey Herlings, who made a strong move on Team HRC’s Tim Gajser towards the end of the race, with Monster Energy Yamaha Factory MXGP man Calvin Vlaanderen finishing a fine third.

MX2 also saw the same winner as last week with Lucas Coenen recovering from a small crash to take the win for Nestaan Husqvarna Factory Racing, who enjoyed another 1-2 finish for the season with Kay de Wolf finishing in second place! Simon Laengenfelder once more took third for Red Bull GASGAS Factory Racing.

Herlings & L.coenen Repeat The Feat With Ram Qualifying Race Wins In The Mxgp Of Lombok

“The Bullet” has shown a lot of speed in the two Indonesian rounds so far, showing no problems with the heat of the region despite not racing here since 2018. He topped the timesheets in both Free and Time Practice, with Tim Gajser and Fantic Factory Racing’s lone warrior Glenn Coldenhoff achieving the third fastest time.

Gajser got the jump on Herlings out of the gate, however, and leaned on his rival enough to grab the holeshot, but the Dutchman was with him, ahead of Vlaanderen and his sparring partner from last week, Jeremy Seewer, who held fourth from Coldenhoff and last week’s GP winner Jorge Prado.

The Red Bull GASGAS Factory Racing rider did not look to be in top form, starting in sixth place and taking his time to move forward, passing Coldenhoff over the finish line jump at the end of the first full lap, then taking until lap seven to make a switchback pass on Seewer for fourth position, which was where he would finish the race.

Vlaanderen did well to fend off the attentions of the reigning World Champion, and got within attacking distance of Herlings for second place, although that seemed to light the fire under the GP win record holder, who suddenly began closing the gap to Gajser!  The KTM dived up the inside of the Honda, making contact but not initially getting through, before Herlings pulled a stunning move on the final corner before the finish line, taking the lead as the “two laps to go” board came out!

The race finished in that order, as Vlaanderen rejoiced in another top three finish to go with his first overall podium of the season last weekend.

Prado’s fourth place finish means that he drops two more points in the Championship to Gajser, who is now 24 points ahead, with Herlings now 33 behind the Spaniard in third.
Gajser is also still leading the 6 month’s RAM Driving Experience with five win so far!

Jeffrey Herlings: “Obviously last week I suffered from the heat in the second race. This time I thought let’s not start flat out but saving energy towards the end of the race. I feel very good physically. It wasn’t really nice how I had to pass Tim (Gajser), as I kind of touched him and I feel bad because I’m not this kind of rider but I had to overtake him like this! Now I look forward for tomorrow and I hope to be up here again!”

Herlings & L.coenen Repeat The Feat With Ram Qualifying Race Wins In The Mxgp Of Lombok

Simon Laengenfelder was fastest in Free Practice, but it was those twin brothers at the top again Time Practice, with Red Bull KTM Factory Racing’s Sacha Coenen claiming first gate pick ahead of Lucas.

The shorter and marginally younger of the twins, Sacha, fired into the lead from the gate, with Laengenfelder initially second, although the Nestaan Husqvarna riders got past the German in rapid succession, Lucas Coenen ahead of De Wolf as it would be until the end of the race.

Sacha’s teammate Andrea Adamo had passed Laengenfelder for fourth on the first lap, but got the new wall jump before the Pit Lane badly wrong, doing well to stay on but allowing the GASGAS back past, as well as Team HRC’s Ferruccio Zanchi.  That proved to be a vital blow to his race as the younger Italian then dropped the bike two corners later, and the reigning Champion could not avoid his fallen machine!  Adamo got back up to tenth at the close for the final point, while Zanchi came home in 15th.

Lucas Coenen hauled in his brother, and made a pass around the outside as Sacha unintentionally paused in a rut.  It wasn’t over though, as on the following lap, Lucas pushed the front wheel too hard in a corner and dropped back into second!  Then it was Sacha’s turn to have the ground give way from beneath him, suffering more of a delay as he ran off the edge of a steep berm and argued with an advertisement hoarding in the process!

This put Lucas back in the lead, with De Wolf making a late charge to pass Laengenfelder and therefore inherit second when Sacha left the track. The German ended up in third and the young Belgian recovered to claim fourth.  Mikkel Haarup took fifth for Monster Energy Triumph Racing, ahead of Liam Everts who also left the track early on, taking sixth for Red Bull KTM Factory Racing.

Lucas Coenen therefore took one point away from his teammate’s series lead, which is now on 64 points. Lucas looks in determined mood to hack that down, but anything could happen here tomorrow!

Lucas Coenen: “It was a tough one today! The start wasn’t that bad as only my brother (Sacha Coenen) got a jump on me and then I went on the inside and went 2nd. I just did my race but then lost the front in a corner and tipped over. The track is sketchy and I like it this way. Tomorrow we’ll have two race and will try our best!”

Martin heads Trackhouse duo, Marquez starts P13 after drama at the Sachsenring

Martin Heads Trackhouse Duo, Marquez Starts P13 After Drama At The SachsenringThe 2023 winner looks to retain his crown from a lap record pole, with Oliveira and Raul Fernandez next up after a crash for Viñales and drama for MM93

Jorge Martin (Prima Pramac Racing) came out on top in a dramatic qualifying at the Liqui Moly Motorrad Grand Prix Deutschland, taking pole position with a new lap record as he aims to repeat his 2023 weekend of doing the double. Starting alongside him it’s an Aprilia 2-3 as Miguel Oliveira (Trackhouse Racing) took his best qualifying result since his pole at the 2020 Portuguese GP, with Trackhouse teammate Raul Fernandez taking a second front row of the season in P3, and via Q1 no less.

Francesco Bagnaia (Ducati Lenovo Team) starts P4 as he aims to continue his winning streak, meanwhile Marc Marquez (Gresini Racing MotoGP™) is down in P13 after missing the cut in Q1 following some drama at the end of the session that held up the #93.

Martin Heads Trackhouse Duo, Marquez Starts P13 After Drama At The SachsenringQ1
The spotlight was on 11-time Sachsenring winner Marc Marquez in Q1, but after the first runs, Raul Fernandez had the edge on the eight-time World Champion.

As they headed back out, a first flash of drama came as Jack Miller (Red Bull KTM Factory Racing) tried to head past the #93 and ended up running off at Turn 1, Marquez avoiding and then next time round coming back in. That would prove a fateful decision in his mission to move through, as his final run left him with one single shot at it – and more drama hit then.

As the #93 headed out of Turn 1 on his one shot wonder lap, Stefan Bradl (HRC Test Team) was on the apex of Turn 2 but not at full racing speed, then moving over. But that was enough to force more avoiding action from Marquez and write the lap off, leaving him P13 on the grid and Bradl under investigation, later given a 3-place penalty.

Martin Heads Trackhouse Duo, Marquez Starts P13 After Drama At The SachsenringQ2
After the first flurry of activity, Martin was on provisional pole with a 0.220 cushion ahead of Raul Fernandez, who kept his groove rolling from Q1. Another quarter of a second decided P3, with Alex Marquez (Gresini Racing MotoGP™) holding that early on.

As they thundered back out for the second runs, Martin had a moment that put paid to an improvement on his first shot at it, but even more drama was on the way. A crash for Maverick Viñales (Aprilia Racing) at Turn 10, rider ok and passed fit, brought out the yellow flags and it took a minute to clear as the #12 also got his breath back following the highside. That paused any potential improvements, and then Martin had a run off, and finally there was a crash for Alex Marquez that made threading the needle to find space to push for a lap – as well as managing to really threaten on that lap – nigh on impossible. Martin takes pole with that fast effort set early on, ahead of a Trackhouse invasion of the front row, and Bagnaia starts P4.Martin Heads Trackhouse Duo, Marquez Starts P13 After Drama At The Sachsenring

THE GRID
Behind 2023 winner Martin and the two Aprilias of Oliveira and Raul Fernandez, Bagnaia heads up a second row completed by Alex Marquez and Franco Morbidelli (Prima Pramac Racing) – the latter equalling his best qualifying of the season so far from Mugello.

Row 3 sees Viñales looking for more from P7 after having topped Friday’s timesheets, and looking to shake off that highside in the session. Fabio Di Giannantonio (Pertamina Enduro VR46 Racing Team) is eighth as his solid run of form continues, ahead of Enea Bastianini (Ducati Lenovo Team) as the #23 looks to make another podium dash from a little further back.

Rookie Pedro Acosta (Red Bull GASGAS Tech3) starts P10 for his final chance to become the youngest winner in MotoGP™, just ahead of Brad Binder (Red Bull KTM Factory Racing) and Bezzecchi completing the Q2 runners.

Martin has clear track ahead to Turn 1, Bagnaia has the momentum, Viñales has the speed but then had that highside… and Marquez likewise rides after a big crash on Friday, from P13. But with 11 wins at the track in his pocket. Who will reign the Ring this weekend? Tune in to find out:

Benjamin Currie of Oxford Products Racing Ducati set the pace on Friday at Snetterton, leading the combined free practice times in Round 5 of the 2024 Quattro Group British Supersport Championship. The Australian rider topped the timesheets with a blistering lap of 1:51.650 in the afternoon session, showcasing impressive speed on the 2.9-mile Snetterton 300 circuit.

Hot on Currie’s heels was Jack Kennedy aboard the Honda Racing UK machine, who finished just 0.002 seconds adrift with a time of 1:51.652. The razor-thin margin between the top two riders sets the stage for an intensely competitive weekend ahead.

In the GP2 class, Jack Nixon led the way on his Kramer Racing machine with a time of 1:54.500, good enough for 26th overall in the combined standings. Owen Jenner, also on a Kramer, was second quickest in GP2, followed by Keo Walker on the RD Racing Triumph.

The HEL Performance Supersport Cup saw Cameron Hall top the timesheets with a 1:54.094, placing him 17th overall. Mikey Hardie and Lynden Leatherland rounded out the top three in the Cup class.

Notable performances came from Eugene McManus on the ROKiT Haslam Racing Ducati, who led the morning session before finishing sixth overall, and Rhys Irwin, who showed consistent pace across both sessions on his Gearlink Kawasaki.

The day’s sessions were run under cloudy skies, but the track remained dry, allowing riders to push their limits. As the teams analyse data and make final adjustments, anticipation builds for Saturday’s qualifying session.

With such small margins separating the frontrunners, particularly between Currie and Kennedy at the top, Saturday’s qualifying is poised to be a nail-biting affair. Fans can expect a thrilling battle for pole position as riders vie for the best starting spots in the weekend’s races.

The 2024 Quattro Group British Supersport Championship continues to deliver high-octane action, and if Friday’s practice sessions are any indication, the Snetterton round is shaping up to be another classic in this year’s championship fight.

R1M Owners Joined on Track by Valentino Rossi

R1m Owners Joined On Track By Valentino RossiR1M Owners Joined on Track by Valentino Rossi as the Yamaha Racing Experience Reaches New Heights in 2024.

2024 saw the Yamaha Racing Experience (YRE) scale new heights as R1M owners were joined on track at the two-day event by Yamaha Racing royalty, including nine-times Grand Prix World Champion Valentino Rossi.

Held at the iconic Circuito de Jerez Angel Nieto, Spain, the 2024 YRE proved to be a purely unforgettable experience for over 100 R1M, R1 GYTR PRO 25th Anniversary owners and select customers of our GYTR PRO Shops with high-specification R1s, who were able to share the track with ‘The Doctor’ and other Yamaha Racing stars.

Yamaha’s brace of WorldSBK riders were also present, including six-time World Champion Jonathan Rea and Pata Prometeon Yamaha team-mate Andrea Locatelli, plus Dominique Aegerter, Bradley Ray and Philipp Oettl, and reigning Endurance World Champions Niccolò Canepa, Marvin Fritz and Karel Hanika and Robin Mulhauser.R1m Owners Joined On Track By Valentino Rossi

The Yamaha owners, who travelled to Jerez from across Europe, enjoyed a comprehensive track programme, taking to the circuit to enjoy their CP4-powered machine in the blistering Andalusian sunshine.

The event saw several historical moments, including the first R1 GYTR PRO 25th Anniversary customers taking their new, WorldSBK-inspired machines on track for the very first time. The very same Yamaha Motor Europe Motorsport Research & Development engineers who designed and built the bike were also on hand for technical advice and support.

Free of charge to 2024 R1M and R1 GYTR PRO 25th Anniversary owners, this immersive racing experience brought customers into the heart of Yamaha’s Racing activity, with riders, including Rossi, on hand for selfies and autographs throughout the event, including at an exclusive Customer Dinner event on the Wednesday evening at the stunning Tio Pepe Winery.

Rossi rode his striking and unique R1 GYTR PRO, which was presented to him by Yamaha Motor Europe when he retired from MotoGP in 2021, while the WorldSBK stars completed demonstration laps on their full WorldSBK-spec R1s with stand-up wheelies and high-speed thrills.

R1m Owners Joined On Track By Valentino RossiThe presence of the Yamaha Racing Heritage Club exemplified Yamaha’s racing DNA, with those present treated to a once-in-a-lifetime spectacle as some of the star-studded line-up took to the track on some of the most iconic race machines of Yamaha’s past.

This included Valentino Rossi, who jumped at the chance to ride Eddie Lawson’s 1986 championship-winning YZR500 – the first time he had ridden a 500cc GP bike since MotoGP switched to the four-stroke era in 2002.

Three-time Grand Prix World Champion Luca Cadalora joined Rossi on track on his 1990 YZR250. Other machines on display included three TZ750s, and two stunning replicas of the 2001 YZR500 0WL9 – the last of the 500cc era which were taken to the track by Jonathan Rea, Andrea Locatelli and Niccolò Canepa as well as the owners of the machines.

“I have never been to an event like this in my whole life,” commented Pata Prometeon Yamaha rider Jonathan Rea. “The whole event, from start to finish, offers awesome opportunities for everyone here. Even for me as a racer, being on track with Valentino was an incredible experience! The R1M owners have been fantastic, and I hope they all had as much of a good time as I did!”

“This is easily the best Yamaha Racing Experience I have been to,” Rea’s team-mate Locatelli added. “Where else can you get an experience like this? It is not possible, from being on track with everyone to the dinner to the meet and greet sessions, the whole event offers people a great experience from start to finish.”

The YRE is unique in that. It brings together R1M owners and Yamaha’s professional racers who, in parallel with chasing world championship success, play a significant role in the development of an expanding range of GYTR performance parts for the R1. Through an extensive network of GYTR PRO Shops, Yamaha remains committed to supporting customers who race Yamaha’s flagship Supersport model or utilise it as the ultimate track tool.R1m Owners Joined On Track By Valentino Rossi

Crossing the Sahara in searing heat, climbing the Himalayas or exploring the Amazon rainforests – for more than two decades the big BMW GS Adventure with flat twin boxer engine has been synonymous with such long-distance motorcycle journeys with a passenger and lots of luggage. To ensure that this remains the case in the future, and to provide adventurous motorcyclists with even more adventure expertise, BMW Motorrad has almost completely redesigned the engine, chassis, bodywork, design and storage concept of the new R 1300 GS Adventure compared to the previous model, taking the cornerstones of the BMW GS Adventure to a new level.

The legendary twin-cylinder boxer engine is once again at the heart of the new
R 1300 GS Adventure. The new design, first introduced on the R 1300 GS, is much more compact than its predecessor thanks to a transmission located under the engine and a new arrangement of the camshaft drive. It generates 107 kW (145 hp) from 1,300 cc at 7,750 rpm. Maximum torque is 149 Nm at 6,500 rpm. This makes it by far the most powerful BMW boxer engine ever to be produced in series.

At the center of the new suspension is the sheet metal shell main frame made of steel, which in addition to being significantly optimised in terms of installation space also offers higher levels of stiffness than the predecessor model. In place of the previous tubular steel construction, the new R 1300 GS Adventure now has an aluminium lattice tube rear frame made of aluminium tubes and forged parts. The EVO Telelever front wheel guide with flex element and the revised EVO Paralever rear wheel guide also provide even greater steering precision and riding stability.Bmw Motorrad Presents The All-new Bmw R 1300 Gs Adventure

New electronic Dynamic Suspension Adjustment (DSA) as standard equipment ex works, with dynamic adaptation of the damping and spring rate, and also load compensation.
The previous Dynamic ESA Next Generation electronic suspension itself offered a high level of ride safety and riding fun on a wide variety of terrains with its dynamic adjustment of the damping and adjustable spring basis at the rear. The new electronic
Dynamic Suspension Adjustment (DSA) now goes one step further, combining the dynamic adjustment of the front and rear damping with a corresponding adjustment of the spring rate (“spring stiffness”) – depending on the selected riding mode, riding condition and manoeuvres. The automatic adjustment of the spring basis ensures load compensation. This makes for an even more thrilling riding experience on all surfaces. Whether solo, with passenger or with bulky luggage – DSA ensures an even higher level of ride safety, performance and comfort.

Adaptive vehicle height control and adaptive vehicle height control comfort with vehicle lowering as optional equipment ex works.
The new adaptive vehicle height control and vehicle height control comfort are available ex works as optional extras for the chassis of the new R 1300 GS Adventure.

With adaptive vehicle height control, the new R 1300 GS offers fully automatic adjustment of the vehicle height to suit the operating conditions, ensuring maximum comfort without having to compromise on riding dynamics and lean angle freedom. The vehicle height is lowered by 30 mm when stationary and at low speeds.

The new R 1300 GS Adventure can also be fitted with the optional adaptive vehicle height control comfort system for smaller riders, or for particularly good accessibility and even easier handling. It has all the features and functions of the vehicle height control, and a standard height that is 20mm lower.

Bmw Motorrad Presents The All-new Bmw R 1300 Gs AdventureFour riding modes now standard. “Enduro” riding mode for an enhanced off-road riding experience.
Even in the standard version, the new R 1300 GS Adventure now has four rather than three riding modes to suit individual rider preferences. The “Rain” and “Road” riding modes allow riding characteristics to be adapted to most road conditions. With the “Eco” riding mode it is possible to achieve the maximum range on a single tank of fuel, while the additional riding mode “Enduro” enables an enhanced riding experience off the beaten track with a specific set-up for off-road use.

Automated Shift Assistant (ASA) for fully automatic clutch actuation with manual or automated shifting for even more riding enjoyment as optional ex-works equipment.
With the new Automated Shift Assistant (ASA), BMW Motorrad offers an innovative technical solution to make motorcycling easier and more comfortable. True to the motto “Simplify your ride”, the riding experience is further enhanced by the automation of the clutch and gear shift, without sacrificing the emotionally important dynamics of the gear change.
The Automated Shift Assistant (ASA) will also be available as an option on the
BMW R 1300 GS from model year 2025.

Full LED headlights in new matrix design and auxiliary headlights as standard. State-of-the-art LED light units all round with turn indicators integrated into the hand protectors.
BMW Motorrad is regarded as the pioneer par excellence when it comes to motorcycling safety and related innovations. Accordingly, the new R 1300 GS Adventurer offers a new, very small and attractive full LED headlamp with a novel, distinctive light icon as standard. The light unit consists of one LED unit for low and high beam along with four additional LED units for the daytime running light and the side light. The new R 1300 GS Adventure also features two extra-flat auxiliary headlamps with LED technology that blend harmoniously and safely into the bodywork. This combination illuminates the road with unprecedented clarity, thereby ensuring even better perception in traffic. State-of-the-art LED light units with newly designed LED turn indicators – integrated in the hand protectors at the front, function-integrated at the rear – round off the lighting concept of the new
R 1300 GS.

Bmw Motorrad Presents The All-new Bmw R 1300 Gs AdventureRiding Assistant with Active Cruise Control (ACC), Front Collision Warning (FCW), Lane Change Warning and the new Rear End Collision Warning (RECW) for safe and convenient motorcycling as optional equipment ex works.
The new R 1300 GS Adventure is already equipped with Dynamic Cruise Control (DCC) with braking function as standard. The Riding Assistant offers many more functions as an optional extra ex works. It consists of the components Active Cruise Control (ACC),
Front Collision Warning (FCW), Lane Change Warning and the new
Rear End Collision Warning (RECW). The new Rear End Collision Warning (RECW) system signals an impending rear end collision to following traffic by flashing the hazard warning lights with a higher frequency. The Rear End Collision Warning (RECW) system will also be available on the BMW R 1300 GS presented last year from model year 2025.

New aluminium top case and new aluminium cases with integrated magnetic couplings as electrical interfaces for USB charging sockets and lighting as well as an optional volume extension are available as optional equipment ex works.
A robust 37-liter aluminium top case and a top case holder with vibration-decoupled top case plate, electrical interface for lighting and USB charging socket as well as integrated passenger grab handles are available as optional accessories for the new
R 1300 GS Adventure. The load capacity is up to 8 kg.

The new aluminium cases, each with a load capacity of up to 10 kg, are also ideal for transporting luggage easily and safely. The total capacity is over 73 liters (37 liters left, 36.5 liters right). They are simply, quickly and securely attached to the innovative case holders made of forged aluminium. The magnetic coupling integrated into the left-hand case holder acts as the electrical interface for the USB charging socket in the left-hand case. The optional 10-liter volume extensions per case provide even more storage space. Made from high quality aluminium, they are quick and easy to fit.

30-liter aluminium fuel tank with clever mounting options and rubberised storage area. Effective wind and weather protection with windshield and hand protectors with hand protector extensions.
The new R 1300 GS Adventure comes with a completely new design that sets it even more apart from its sister model, the R 1300 GS. A key component of the outer skin in the central bodywork area of the new R 1300 GS Adventure is the 30-liter sheet-aluminium fuel tank, which is largely uncovered. It was particularly important to BMW Motorrad’s development engineers that the tank, with its large outer skin, also does justice to its additional function as a luggage carrier in a special way. That’s why three fastening elements have been screwed onto the upper tank panelling for easy and simple refuelling and quick access to the smartphone charging compartment. This clever solution offers individual fastening eyelets for items of luggage and at the same time provides an articulated mount with snap lock for the 12-liter tank bag with waterproof inner bag and outer bags, which is available as an accessory.

The sheer width of the tank inspires confidence and provides effective frontal weather protection. The large windshield, combined with the two large transparent wind deflectors, also provides effective protection from the wind and weather, making for a uniquely quiet and comfortable ride, even on long journeys. Rubberised tank trays to the left and right of the upper tank covers are also standard. They provide non-slip, secure storage for utensils during stops.

Bmw Motorrad Presents The All-new Bmw R 1300 Gs AdventureThe new R 1300 GS Adventure: The very highest level of touring and off-road expertise in an attractive basic variant along with the variants Triple Black, GS Trophy and Option 719 Karakorum.
Even in its basic version, the new R 1300 GS Adventure leaves no doubt about its purpose. Finished in solid Racing Red, it has an athletic, well-trained look that invites you to embark on dedicated motorcycling adventures. The silver tank, black and red seats, black handlebars, black rims and red hand protector extensions provide a striking contrast.

In the Triple Black model variant, the new R 1300 GS Adventure shows its elegant face. Accents in perfectly coordinated shades of black and the aluminium fuel tank finished in high-quality Tinted Clear Coat are the hallmarks of this exceptional character. Black elements such as the standard engine protection bar with silver inserts, handlebars and wheel rims are combined with grey hand protector extensions, large aluminium radiator cowls and black/grey heated seats for the traditional Triple Black colour scheme. A luggage rack and high windshield with large wind deflectors complete the Triple Black look.

The GS Trophy model features a sporty colour scheme. Racing Blue metallic paintwork is complemented by eye-catching solid Light White and solid Racing Red stripes. Textured powder-coated parts in Avus Black matt metallic create exciting contrasts with the aluminium parts. Red and black seats and red hand protector extensions combine with the stainless steel engine protection bar and black cross-spoke wheels to create an attractive colour scheme. Black grilles in front of the radiators and auxiliary headlamps provide effective stone guard protection. The smaller sport windshield and sport grab handles for the passenger further emphasise the GS Trophy’s sporty character. Large radiator cowls with lashing eyes and aluminium fuel tank shelves also provide robust docking points.

Option 719 Karakorum presents the R 1300 GS Adventure in the exclusive colour Aurelius Green matt metallic. Gold-coloured lines and the Shadow milled parts package complete the high-quality appearance, as does the “Opt. 719” badge on the tank cover. Golden anodised components such as the wheel rims and handlebars are particularly eye-catching. The standard engine protection bar is painted black and the hand protector extensions are grey. In addition to the small aluminium radiator cowls and protective grille on the auxiliary headlamps, there are two black/grey heated comfort seats, a luggage rack and a small sport windshield.

Hat-trick hero Zaccone scores Sachsenring pole

Hat-trick Hero Zaccone Scores Sachsenring PoleThe #61 beats Gutierrez by just 0.062s in a dramatic electric class qualifying in Germany.

For the third time in succession Tech3 E-Racing’s Alessandro Zaccone will launch from pole position after the Italian pipped Oscar Gutierrez (Axxis-MSI) by just 0.062s in a drama-filled qualifying at the Liqui Moly Motorrad Grand Prix Deutschland. Zaccone’s 1:26.234 was 0.221s quicker than Nicholas Spinelli’s (Tech3 E-Racing) best effort, as the latter came through Q1 to stick his Ducati V21L on the front row in P3.

Title hunting Hector Garzo (Dynavolt Intact GP MotoE™) spearheads the second row of the grid in P4, as the top two in the World Championship – Mattia Casadei (LCR E-Team) and Kevin Zannoni (Openbank Aspar Team) – both suffered crashes in Q2. Casadei qualified P8 but will serve a Long Lap penalty in Race 1 for crashing under yellow flags at Turn 13, while Zannoni didn’t set a time after the Italian crashed at Turn 1 early in Q2 – the #21 will start in P10 if given the all-clear to race.

Check out the video of the session and the full results, and then come back for race day in Germany! On Saturday, it’s lights out at 12:15 local time (UTC +2) for Race 1 before Race 2 gets underway at 16:10 local time.Hat-trick Hero Zaccone Scores Sachsenring Pole

Viñales escapes Martin and Oliveira, Marquez faces Q1 after crash

Viñales Escapes Martin And Oliveira, Marquez Faces Q1 After CrashAprilia top Day 1 as #MM93 suffers a tougher day at the office and Bagnaia secures P5.

Maverick Viñales (Aprilia Racing) ripped up the recent form book at the Sachsenring on Friday, putting Aprilia on top and by a sizeable 0.340 as he smashed the lap record. 2023 winner Jorge Martin (Prima Pramac Racing) was the first on the chase after showing serious speed all day, but he had another Aprilia for company as Trackhouse Racing’s Miguel Oliveira made it two Noale machines in the top three, just 0.022 off Martin.

For many a favourite on the way in, it was a tougher opening day for Marc Marquez (Gresini Racing MotoGP™) as the #93 had two crashes, the second of which was a big highside. After a medical check, he has been declared fit.

It was a dramatic first part to the vital Practice session in the afternoon, with Marco Bezzecchi (Pertamina Enduro VR46 Racing Team) crashing in the opening stages, losing the front at the fast Turn 11, rider ok. Then, Marc Marquez suffered a highside there with 52 minutes left on the clock, with the Gresini rider initially heading back to the truck rather than the medical centre. Later, the #93 did go for a check and was declared fit.

Not long after that, more drama, this time at Turn 1. Fabio Di Giannantonio (Pertamina Enduro VR46 Racing Team) crashed and damaged the air fence – bringing out the red flag – and he headed straight to the medical centre. But once again, rider ok and passed fit, and the #49 even headed back out and managed to improve his lap.

Once the session resumed, Takaaki Nakagami (IDEMITSU Honda LCR) and Joan Mir (Repsol Honda Team) also crashed at Turn 1, riders ok, but the pace would heat up with time attacks starting in the last 20 minutes – and the lap record was destroyed. Marquez, who didn’t head back out, found his name pipped further and further down the order before it was outside the top ten, putting him in Q1.

Behind Viñales’ stunning 1:19.622 as he unleashed a full Batmav Friday, Martin had an impressive day at the office to stake his claim as favourite of the top three in the title fight. Oliveira impressed after a very tough Assen to come out swinging, taking third and at a track he’s taken a premier class podium at previously.

Fourth place was taken by Alex Marquez (Gresini Racing MotoGP™), who showed strong pace throughout with over 30 laps set in the hour-long Practice to back up a top three position on Friday in Assen, and on the heels of his new two-year contract.

Reigning Champion Francesco Bagnaia (Ducati Lenovo Team), meanwhile, completed a quiet day at the office but a good one, taking P5 just ahead of teammate Enea Bastianini (Ducati Lenovo Team). The ‘Beast’ had a late crash at Turn 11, but rider ok if a little bruised.

Viñales Escapes Martin And Oliveira, Marquez Faces Q1 After CrashPrima Pramac Racing’s Franco Morbidelli found time in the afternoon to finish P7, ahead of Pedro Acosta (Red Bull GASGAS Tech3) who had a fast but at times adventurous Friday. The rookie sensation crashed in FP1 and then again in Practice but moves through to Q2 in eighth. Sunday is the last chance he has to beat Marquez’ record of youngest premier class winner.

Diggia takes P9 despite his tumble too, with Red Bull KTM Factory Racing’s Brad Binder completing the top ten as the final rider moving straight through to Q2. The South African was an infinitesimal 0.001 ahead of teammate Jack Miller. Miller heads Raul Fernandez (Trackhouse Racing), behind whom sits Marc Marquez on the timesheets. They head for Q1 alongside the likes of Fabio Quartararo (Monster Energy Yamaha MotoGP™). Check out the full results from the day below.

Saturday will certainly be an intriguing one, with Aprilia taking top Friday honours at a track Ducati have come to dominate, standout performances making waves, a new lap record set. The last time Viñales pulled out that kind of gap on the field, it turned into an ominous Saturday AND Sunday for the rest – at the equally anti-clockwise Circuit of the Americas.

Tune in for more as Batmav vs Supermen returns on Saturday..

Viñales Escapes Martin And Oliveira, Marquez Faces Q1 After Crash

More from Friday at the Sachsenring
Two notable moments later in the day were sizeable crashes, one for Fabio Di Giannantonio (Pertamina Enduro VR46 Racing Team) and one for the as-yet undefeated King of the Ring, Marc Marquez (Gresini Racing MotoGP™), in his second off of the day. Both riders had medical check ups and both were declared fit, but only one heads straight for Q2 and it’s the #49 of Diggia.

Aleix Espargaro withdraws from the German GP
The day began with confirmation from Aleix Espargaro (Aprilia Racing) that he would not compete in the German GP, with the #41 withdrawing to continue his recovery from his crash in the Tissot Sprint at Assen:

Celebrating world-first connectivity with Cardo Systems

Celebrating World-first Connectivity With Cardo SystemsTo celebrate 20 years of Breaking Boundaries, throughout 2024 Cardo Systems will be looking back across its two decades of innovation to celebrate its numerous world first achievements and pioneering technologies introduced to the communications industry.

Take a look at the key connectivity innovations achieved by the global market leader in wireless communication systems for powersports riders over the last 20 years…

Celebrating World-first Connectivity With Cardo SystemsIn 2004, Cardo revolutionized the motorcycle experience by introducing the world’s first Motorcycle Bluetooth headset, marking a groundbreaking milestone in the industry and enhancing the riding experience for motorcycle riders and pillions worldwide.

With a mindset of constant innovation, Cardo’s quest for open connectivity continued and in 2007 the launch of the Q2 marked the first true rider-to-rider long-range intercom with the ability to connect two riders over distances up to 700m/0.45 miles. For the first time, friends out for a ride could communicate reliably and effectively at a distance.

Celebrating World-first Connectivity With Cardo SystemsThe pace of development did not stop there, Cardo Systems looked to push the boundaries – and range – of Bluetooth technology further, launching the first long-range intercoms with a range of 1.6kms/1 mile with the G4 in 2009. As part of the company’s commitment to leading the pack, the G4 also offered internet firmware upgrades that allowed users to easily update their devices at home.Celebrating World-first Connectivity With Cardo Systems

Never content with the status quo, Cardo introduced its now infamous Dynamic Mesh Communication (DMC) in 2015, encapsulated in the PACKTALK. The world’s first mesh connectivity technology allowed groups of up to 15 riders to connect quickly and efficiently with the ability for auto-reconnection when moving in and out of range for the first time. Removing common frustrations and wasted time, DMC allowed users to concentrate on the ride ahead with hours of connected and shared experiences.Celebrating World-first Connectivity With Cardo Systems

Since then, Cardo’s commitment to reliable connectivity and innovative solutions has continued with the introduction of 2nd generation DMC, software releases to create cross-brand integration with all major Bluetooth communicators, the establishment of Open Bluetooth intercom (OBi) partnerships and sharing its technology in other outdoor industries.

With its latest launch, the PACKTALK PRO, Cardo Systems takes connectivity even further with inbuilt crash detection, sending an alert to a set contact with your last known location.

Alon Lumbroso, CEO of Cardo Systems, comments: “Over the last 20 years, Cardo has been proud to play a role in helping encourage more people to get the most out of their two-wheeled experiences. The next 20 years will be just as important for Cardo Systems as we seek to develop further innovations that continue breaking boundaries in communication and look forwards to the future of the industry.”

Undefeated: Marquez’ record at the Ring lays down the gauntlet

Undefeated: Marquez’ Record At The Ring Lays Down The GauntletThe #93 aims to end a 987-day run without a win as Martin and Bagnaia gear up to lead the resistance.

As we head into the next Grand Prix, the echoes of Francesco Bagnaia’s (Ducati Lenovo Team) masterclass at Assen still ring out on the road to the Sachsenring for the Liqui Moly Motorrad Grand Prix Deutschland. He’s now just 10 points behind Championship leader Jorge Martin (Prima Pramac Racing), the closest margin between the top two since Saturday night in Portugal. And Bagnaia hasn’t consistently been the rider on the chase – as ever, when he’s needed it he’s found that extra bit of magic to claw himself back into contention. This weekend the goal could change again: take back the lead as he arrives from two doubles on the bounce, and on the weekend his makes his 200th start across all classes.

Martin, however, did his first career double at this track last year, completing it thanks to that sublime duel with Bagnaia on Sunday as the two crossed the line split by less than a tenth. He hasn’t needed to claw himself back into contention as he’s remained pretty steadfastly consistent since Day 1 of 2024, barring the standout error on Sunday his Jerez. But everyone will have at least one of those in a season – the mission is to minimise them and Martin is doing that while remaining fast. He’ll likely feel this is a venue where he has the chance to turn the tables of momentum on Bagnaia.

NEVER BEEN BEATEN
That said, there’s one rider on the grid who has simply never been defeated in MotoGP™ at the Sachsenring. Marc Marquez (Gresini Racing MotoGP™) won the German GP in 2013, won it in 2014, and then he won it in 2015. In 2016, he won it. He followed that up with a win in 2017. 2018 was a win. Can you guess what happened in 2019? He won it. Even when we returned to the venue in 2021 before his second, major surgery on his arm… he won. That’s eight in MotoGP™. Wait until you find out about his 2010 125cc win, and pair of wins in Moto2™ in 2011 and 2012…

In 2022 he didn’t race as he recovered from that second surgery, and in 2023 he withdrew on Sunday morning after a tough weekend of crashes. Potentially a turning point in other ways, that decision also ensures the stats of starts vs wins remain absolutely staggering for #MM93 in Germany. He’s never been beaten, and that means two things. One, he must – now on arguably the bike to be on at the venue – head in as the clear, clear favourite. Two, if Bagnaia or Martin can beat him, it’s the kind of scalp you take once or twice in a career. And they will be motivated.

ON THE CHASE
Enea Bastianini (Ducati Lenovo Team) remains consistently the fastest rider in the world in the last five or six laps of a Grand Prix, so this time round the ‘Beast’ will want to make a potential journey to the podium less of a grind and qualify further forward. Maverick Viñales (Aprilia Racing), after a solid Assen, has had some good form at the Sachsenring so could be a dark horse to try and take the fight to Ducati. Teammate Aleix Espargaro, meanwhile, arrives from a tough Assen and needs to be passed fit after sustaining a fracture in his finger. But he could make his 329th GP start in all classes and become the rider with the third most starts on Sunday, behind Valentino Rossi (432) and Andrea Dovizioso (345).

Fabio Di Giannantonio (Pertamina Enduro VR46 Racing Team) impressed in Assen and is now a key focus in the silly season rumours for 2025, so he’ll be interesting to watch. Teammate Marco Bezzecchi has his future sewn up but is looking for a more positive weekend as 2024 rolls on, and Alex Marquez (Gresini Racing MotoGP™) now likewise after the #73 was confirmed at Gresini for two more seasons. Franco Morbidelli (Prima Pramac Racing) had a solid Assen but will be looking for more glittering adjectives from the next few races.

At KTM, Brad Binder (Red Bull KTM Factory Racing) has calmed down the out-of-character errors that had blighted a few rounds, but the South African goes racing to win and will be aiming higher than Assen, where the podium fight remained a little further up the road. Rookie sensation Pedro Acosta (Red Bull GASGAS Tech3) had a more muted Dutch GP although he was in the mix with the podium battle on Sunday before a last lap crash out. He’ll also want more. Jack Miller (Red Bull KTM Factory Racing) and Augusto Fernandez (Red Bull GASGAS Tech3) likewise, with points – or a lot more of them – a focus as well as pace, with Acosta and Binder finding that margin.

At Trackhouse Racing the team rivalry also remains in the hands of Raul Fernandez at the moment as he more often that not has been in the top ten, with Miguel Oliveira looking to hit back. With neither seat confirmed for 2025 yet either, the American team are very much in the spotlight for that too.

NEW HORIZONS & A HOME HERO
The news finally dropped during the Dutch GP that Yamaha would field two more “factory” spec bikes from 2025 – and as part of a new long-term deal with Prima Pramac Racing. As they do continue to show signs of real progress, that’s another very positive sign. Fabio Quartararo (Monster Energy Yamaha MotoGP™) makes his 100th start in MotoGP™ this weekend too, at a venue he’s won at. He’ll have a “new” teammate in the box though as Alex Rins recovers from surgery following his wrist fracture and crash in Assen, with WorldSBK rider Remy Gardner joining the garage for the weekend.

At Honda, there was also some recent news: Aleix Espargaro is joining their test team when he retires from full-time racing at the end of 2024. He’ll be working with Luca Marini (Repsol Honda Team), already signed up, and Johann Zarco at CASTROL Honda LCR likewise. Joan Mir’s future at Repsol Honda is strongly rumoured but not confirmed, and Takaaki Nakagami (IDEMITSU Honda LCR) is likewise not confirmed yet. In the here and now though, the intent shown in signing Espargaro and the ongoing private testing aim to bear more fruit as 2024 rolls on. The marque also have a home hero in the field as Stefan Bradl returns to wildcard action this weekend, taking part in his home GP for the first time since replacing #MM93 in 2022.

The storylines abound, on and off track, and there’s even a fairtytale on the line this weekend as Marquez looks to extend those Sachsenring stats and take what would be an emotional win – 987 days later. Can he do it? Or can Martin and Bagnaia turn fairytale into fable at the Liqui Moly Motorrad Grand Prix Deutschland? Tune in to find out!

Moto2 will the Sachsenring deliver another twist?

Moto2 Will The Sachsenring Deliver Another Twist?A second win in three races for Ai Ogura has seen the Japanese star close the gap to his MT Helmets – MSI teammate, Sergio Garcia, in the overall standings as the Moto2™ class lands at the Sachsenring, with an intriguing title race playing out as we approach the summer break.

Ogura held off Fermin Aldeguer (SpeedUp Racing) for Assen’s 25-point haul, and in doing so moved above the unlucky Joe Roberts (OnlyFans American Racing) in the Championship to act as Garcia’s closest challenger after the American was forced to miss the Dutch TT after fracturing his collarbone on Friday afternoon.

Roberts will look to get back in action at the Sachsenring as the #16 tries to pick up as many points as possible. Riding through the pain barrier, any points will be good points as Roberts hopes to limit the damage before the second half of the season begins.

Aldeguer’s return to the podium was a welcome one, but without the Long Lap penalty, it could have been more. Nevertheless, more results like that are needed as the #54 aims to claw himself back into title contention, with the gap to Garcia now sitting at 55 points.

Last year’s German GP P2 and P3 finishers, Tony Arbolino (Elf Marc VDS Racing Team) and Jake Dixon (CFMOTO Inde Aspar Team), enjoyed solid weekends in Assen and will be hoping a repeat of last year’s results is on the agenda.

How will the ever-changing Moto2™ title race picture look come Sunday afternoon? It’s set to be another enthralling encounter as Garcia, Ogura, Roberts, Aldeguer and co. look to take the Sachsenring spoils.

Moto3 can the chasing pack make up more ground in Germany?

Moto3 Can The Chasing Pack Make Up More Ground In Germany?Ivan Ortola (MT Helmets – MSI) vs Collin Veijer (Liqui Moly Husqvarna Intact GP) couldn’t have been much tighter at the chequered flag in Assen, as the former bagged a first win of 2024 to deny the latter a dream home Grand Prix win.

Now, the slate is wiped clean as a new challenge awaits in the form of the Sachsenring.

0.012s was all that stood in the way of Veijer climbing onto the top step on home turf, but it was valuable points gained for the rising Dutch star as he now sits P2 in the Championship. David Alonso’s (CFMOTO Gaviota Aspar Team) P5 sees the Colombian sit 39 points clear of the #95, with Daniel Holgado’s (Red Bull GASGAS Tech3) P11 finish seeing him relinquish second overall. Moreover, Ortola’s 25-point haul sees him lie just 10 points behind Veijer, as the three chasers look to make a dent into Alonso’s lead in Germany.

Holgado’s 2023 P3 at the Sachsenring will give the #96 confidence he can respond to a low-key Assen weekend, while Ortola’s P4 at the German venue last year also stands him in good stead to enjoy another fruitful weekend. Can they make up more ground in Germany? Find out this weekend as a crucial Moto3™ round takes place at the Sachsenring!

New Sidecar pulled by a ‘Husky’

New Sidecar Pulled By A 'husky'Watsonian sidecars now available for the Husqvarna Svartpilen 401

Watsonian have developed a fitting kit that enables their sidecars to be attached the the distinctive Husqvarna Svartpilen 401.

Engineered in their UK factory, the kit features an ingenious subframe, which bolts onto the bike’s steel trellis frame, providing mounting points for the lower attachment arms. This allows the sidecar to be set up with the correct axle lead, toe-in and lean-out, for optimum stability and predictable handling.

Made from steel tube that is powder coated for durability, the subframe comes with all necessary bolts and brackets. These are manufactured to Watsonian’s specification, to cope with the forces generated through the sidecar.

Watsonian’s Platform Chassis is ideal for smaller capacity motorcycles, like the Svartpilen 401, and a choice of three sidecar bodies can be mounted on it, including the International, (pictured). This set up would also be suitable for the popular Prescott and GP Manx sidecar bodies.

The Husqvarna Svartpilen 401 fitting kit costs £995 (including VAT) and prices for the International sidecar start at £4,895- in a black gelcoat finish. Watsonian offer a full factory fitting service if required.

Located near the Cotswold village of Blockley, Watsonian welcome visitors. See their full range of sidecars at www.watsonian-squire.com.New Sidecar Pulled By A 'husky'

Quick Turnaround in Indonesia For The MXGP of Lombok

As the teams and crews of the MXGP Motocross World Championships enjoy a week without travelling before the MXGP of Lombok this weekend, the track workers prepare the Selaparang Circuit to run in the opposite direction for the second Grand Prix at the venue in as many weekends, ready for round twelve to take place in the heat of Indonesia.

Jorge Prado and Kay de Wolf took the victories at last week’s MXGP of West Nusa Tenggara, named after the governmental province that contains the island of Lombok, and they will be hoping to add themselves to a tradition of double GP winners among the islands in recent years.

In the MXGP class, the winner of the first Indonesian round has always repeated the victory at the second event.  MX2 has only seen this once, and it was Jorge Prado that did it back in 2019!

Prado has now won the most GPs in this part of the world with four in total, while it was De Wolf’s first win in Indonesia.

Quick Turnaround In Indonesia For The Mxgp Of Lombok

The reigning World Champion Jorge Prado performed a stunning bounce-back for Red Bull GASGAS Factory Racing at the first round in Lombok, hacking down the Championship lead of  Team HRC’s Tim Gajser from 34 points to 22.  Jeffrey Herlings, who lies third for Red Bull KTM Factory Racing, also cut into the Slovenian’s advantage over him, which is now down to 58 points.

Monster Energy Yamaha Factory MXGP rider Calvin Vlaanderen earned his first podium of the season last weekend, consolidating his fourth place in the Championship ahead of Kawasaki Racing Team’s Jeremy Seewer. Both men took their first overall GP wins in Indonesia, Seewer in 2017, and Vlaanderen in 2018.

Prado’s win at the weekend was his first here in the MXGP class, but his fourth in total after his first in MX2 in 2018, and the double in 2019. Gajser stays on three, as he took the double in 2019 plus the single event at Sumbawa in 2022.  Romain Febvre won both Indonesian GPs in 2023, and Herlings a similar double in 2018.

Fantic Factory Racing MXGP star Brian Bogers has to miss this weekend’s GP after dislocating his shoulder in Saturday’s RAM Qualifying Race, he has dropped out of the series top ten as Valentin Guillod moved up for Ship to Cycle Honda Motoblouz SR. The experienced star Glenn Coldenhoff from Fantic Factory Racing MXGP find himself 7th position in the Championship and will hope to bounce back after his 9th place in the first Indonesian round.

Can Herlings, Gajser, or any of the chasing pack prevent Prado from doing the double near the equator, or is there another twist in the complex tale of the 2024 MXGP season?

MXGP – World Championship Top 10 Classification: 1. Tim Gajser (SLO, HON), 555 Points;   2. Jorge Prado (ESP, GAS), 533 Points; 3. Jeffrey Herlings (NED, KTM), 497 Pts; 4. Calvin Vlaanderen (NED, YAM), 381 Pts; 5. Jeremy Seewer (SUI, KAW), 374 Pts; 6. Romain Febvre (FRA, KAW), 327 Points; 7. Glenn Coldenhoff (NED, FAN), 327 Pts; 8. Pauls Jonass (LAT, HON), 274 Pts; 9. Kevin Horgmo (NOR, HON), 238 Pts; 10. Valentin Guillod (SUI, HON), 224 Pts.Quick Turnaround In Indonesia For The Mxgp Of Lombok

MX2 Championship leader Kay de Wolf scored his first double race win of the season for Nestaan Husqvarna Factory Racing at the MXGP of West Nusa Tenggara, stretching his Championship lead further to 65 points over his teammate Lucas Coenen, who in turn moved back past Red Bull GASGAS Factory Racing star Simon Laengenfelder for second place. The German is still just four points further back, and will hope to have built up more resistance to the heat and humidity in his time here after suffering in the previous round.

De Wolf and Lucas Coenen are now the only two riders in MX2 who have won GPs in this part of the world, and only once in MX2 has a rider won a second straight GP in Indonesia, which was Prado in 2019.  Last year, Jago Geerts took the MXGP of Lombok win in MX2 after Lucas Coenen won his first ever GP in Sumbawa the week before.

Andrea Adamo had the best weekend of his world title defence last weekend and cut the gap down to his Red Bull KTM Factory Racing teammate Liam Everts in their battle for fourth in the Championship. Monster Energy Triumph Racing star Mikkel Haarup suffered last lap crashes in both of Sunday’s GP races, only losing a podium finish on a tiebreak, so the Dane will be fired up to make amends in this weekend’s event. Although Sacha Coenen lost his GP winning streak last weekend, the Belgian took his 11th  Fox Holeshot Award, giving him a 50% ratio for the season so far, so the Red Bull KTM Factory Racing man has a good chance of getting out front again!

Although the Championship gap has grown, the racing is never predictable in the ever-hectic MX2 class with multiple riders capable of battling at the front!

MX2 – World Championship Top 10 Classification: 1. Kay de Wolf (NED, HUS), 532 Points; 2. Lucas Coenen (BEL, HUS), 467 Pts;  3. Simon Laengenfelder (GER, GAS), 463 Points;  4. Liam Everts (BEL, KTM), 432 Pts; 5. Andrea Adamo (ITA, KTM), 417 Pts;  6. Mikkel Haarup (DEN, TRI), 355 Pts; 7. Rick Elzinga (NED, YAM), 322 Pts; 8. Sacha Coenen (BEL, KTM), 312 Pts; 9. Thibault Benistant (FRA, YAM), 226 Pts; 10. Quentin Prugnieres (FRA, KAW). 217 Pts.

The 2024 Adventure Bike Rider Festival becomes the biggest and best yet

The 2024 Adventure Bike Rider Festival Becomes The Biggest And Best Yet

Over 10,000 demo rides and 14,700 adventure enthusiasts later, the 2024 Adventure Bike Rider Festival becomes the biggest and best yet.

This weekend, 28-30 June, saw the 2024 Adventure Bike Rider Festival take over the stunning Ragley Hall estate for the fifth year running and welcomed just under 15,000 motorcyclists for three full days of riding, inspirational talks, live music and much more. This year’s event marked the largest ever ABR Festival to date.

One of the most popular elements of the festival was the wealth of opportunities for ticket holders to ride the latest motorcycles from the world’s major manufacturers, as well as boutique bike brands. This year, an enormous 10,000+ demo riders were delivered throughout the weekend by more than 20 manufacturers, including household brands like Honda, Harley-Davidson, Kawasaki, Triumph, Royal Enfield, Yamaha and many more, to new manufacturers like Kove UK using the ABR Festival to launch the brand in market.

Festival goers enjoyed the 40 kilometres of continuous purpose-built trails on demo rides or their own machines, on site at Ragley Hall. Proudly welcoming riders of all abilities to give off-road riding a try, three specially crafted trails – The Bridgestone Trail, TRF Trail and Beginner’s Trail – were designed to offer something for everyone, from the tranquil, open grassland and technical tight wooded sections, to the challenging ‘Bog of Doom’, ‘Swamp Man’ and ‘Wooded Wonderland’.

In addition to the two-wheel test rides, ATV demos, guided green lane ride-outs, advanced riding assessments, off-road skills schools, motorcycle masterclasses and live rider displays featured throughout the three-day event.

Over 140 leading motorcycle brands and trade vendors opened for business in the Exhibitor Village at this year’s festival, giving guests the chance to receive specialist advice from industry experts, while also getting to bag a bargain on the latest kit and accessories, and keeping refreshed thanks to a range of exceptional coffee, food and drink stands across the festival site.

As well as the abundance of riding opportunities and activities, one of the unmissable features for ticket holders was the packed speaker schedule featuring more than 60 talks across four stages, which left visitors feeling inspired.

Special guest and Dakar legend Sam Sunderland surprised The Himalayan Masterclass Stage, with The Bridgestone Stage, The Main Speaker Stage, and the new for 2024, The ABR Magazine Traveller’s Tent, playing host to an abundance of fascinating around-the-world riders, off-road racing champions, motivating world record holders and the most popular social media stars.

In the GoPro Arena, top-tier riders like Chris Birch, Adam Riemann, Dylan and Rowan Jones, Jack Challoner, Geoff Walker, and Jake Edey wowed spectators with a series of spectacular display rides, showcasing just what big adventure bikes are capable of in extremely talented hands.

Entertainment and the festival atmosphere were topped off by the incredible schedule of live music throughout the entire event, from rock tribute bands performing on the bikerheadz Stage, to Ibiza DJ sets keeping the party going late into the night on the Bridgestone Stage. Also, here, ticket holders experienced an electrifying fusion of music that included world-class choirs, enchanting string quartets, and a mesmerising Brazilian dance troupe. The relaxing Magic Teapot area provided a relaxing escape, with piano sets and endless cups of tea, and visitors relished the acoustic evening sessions in the Chillout Tent.

Lee Westbrook, UK Country Manager, Kove UK, said: “The Adventure Bike Rider Festival has been key to the launch of Kove in the UK, and it’s been an absolute resounding success. Our hope was to get some enquiries, but with the sheer amount of footfall, it’s quadrupled our expectations. We weren’t expecting to sell a bike, but we’ve taken a number of orders, deposits and had lots of interest which has been amazing. We now know this is where we need to be, and next year, we’ll be back and we’ll be a whole lot bigger.”

Fabrizio Cazzoli, Managing Director, Ducati UK, said: “It’s always a pleasure to be here at the ABR Festival with the Ducati team. The festival is continuously growing bigger and better, and Ducati is proud to have contributed to the success of this fantastic event. It’s a wonderful opportunity for us to connect with Ducati fans and offer opportunities for them to not only see the latest models in person, but also experience our bikes on trails and roads.”

Luke Gregory, Managing Director, Lukas Distribution and BSA UK, said: “The 2024 Adventure Bike Rider Festival has been excellent for BSA. Our Gold Star test rides were fully booked across all three days, resulting in us being able to deliver over 300 demo rides which is fantastic. Overall, it’s been a great show for us, super well organised with an excellent crowd of people. It’s one of the best motorcycle events I’ve ever been to, and it’s safe to say we can’t wait to return in 2025.”

Gary Hartshorne, Senior Motorcycle Product Manager, Bridgestone North Europe, said: “Bridgestone has been involved in the ABR Festival since the very first one when it was just 250 people in a field in Banbury, and as the main sponsor of the event since 2018. It has been great to see it grow to what it is today, with all the people and the extra add-ons such as the Bridgestone Stage and the music there. A massive congratulations from everybody at Bridgestone, what an event!”

John Small, Commercial Director, Cool Covers, said: “We have been a supporter of the Adventure Bike Rider Festival right from the early days in a field in Northamptonshire, when it was just one tiny little tent. From our point of view as a vendor, last year we had fantastic sales at the event, and I came here with the optimism that we would excel that, and we have done that. It adds to the fact that not only are we supporting this fantastic festival, but equally our product is being exceptionally well received by the festivalgoers. We’ll be back here next year!”

Alun Davies, Founder, Adventure Bike Rider Festival, said: “It’s the people who make events come to life and with that in mind I’m indebted to all the public and industry who came and made the ABR Festival such a fantastic, vibrant and friendly celebration of motorcycles and riders. I’m missing the vibe of the festival already and can’t wait to welcome you back to ABR Festival 2025.”

Iconic Snetterton set for Round 3 of R&G British Talent Cup action

Iconic Snetterton Set For Round 3 Of R&g British Talent Cup ActionTwo races await as the BTC heads to the classic Norfolk layout.

The R&G British Talent Cup heads to Snetterton for Round 3 following an electrifying weekend at Donington, where Amanuel Brinton (Kovara Projects / RS Racing) and Ryan Frost (Fibre Tec Honda) shared the victories, with Julian Correa (Microlise Cresswell Racing) and Lucas Brown (Sencat Talent Team / Mortimer Racing) also putting in strong performances. This sets the stage for another thrilling BTC encounter, with Norfolk’s classic layout the host.

Last year at Snetterton, Evan Belford dominated as he claimed victory in both races, but with the British star now racing in the Red Bull MotoGP Rookies Cup, the field is wide open. 2024 cup leader Brown took the second step in Race 2 last year, with Amanuel Brinton also taking a P2 in Race 1. Meanwhile, Correa pocketed the P3 step in both races. Harley McCabe (McCabe Racing by Motorbike Buyers) was just 0.001s away from a podium position in Race 1, and he will be looking for podium success after finishing P7 in both races at Donington.

Currently, Brown leads the Championship with 94 points, followed by Brinton on 77, and Frost, who finished P4 in Race 2 at Snetterton last year, close behind with 75.

Snetterton, a circuit known for its blend of complex layouts and fast straights, offers a unique challenge for the riders. With the Championship chase heating up, expect more exciting races as the stars of the future vie for victory.

Remy Gardner Joins Monster Energy Yamaha MotoGP for German GP Weekend

Remy Gardner Joins Monster Energy Yamaha Motogp For German Gp WeekendThe Monster Energy Yamaha MotoGP Team have travelled from The Netherlands to Germany for the Motorrad Grand Prix Deutschland, Round 9 of the 2024 MotoGP World Championship, held this weekend at the Sachsenring.

Álex Rins successfully underwent surgery on his right wrist and ankle and is now focusing on making a full recovery. Remy Gardner will attend the German GP in his place, joining Fabio Quartararo in the Monster Energy Yamaha MotoGP garage.

The Monster Energy Yamaha MotoGP Team will enter the final MotoGP round before the summer break with an altered rider line-up: Fabio Quartararo is joined by Remy Gardner, who replaces the injured Álex Rins.

Quartararo arrives in Germany holding joint 12th place in the championship standings. After a tough outing at the Dutch GP, the Frenchman is keen to start the weekend at the Sachsenring trying new settings in search of further improvement.

The Sachsenring has unique characteristics: it’s twisty, has steep elevation changes, and has predominately left-hand turns. It’s not for everyone, but El Diablo has known success there. A superb win in 2022 (despite feeling under the weather at the time) and a third place in 2021 on German soil underline that Quartararo certainly knows his way around the narrow track.

Following Rins’ crash at the start of the TT Assen MotoGP Race last Sunday, the Spaniard has successfully undergone surgery on his wrist and ankle on Monday evening. With the support of the team, he has decided to focus on making a full recovery in time for the British GP right after the MotoGP summer break.

In the meantime, the Monster Energy Yamaha MotoGP Team welcome Remy Gardner as a replacement rider. As the 2021 Moto2 World Champion and former premier class rider (2022), the Australian is already familiar with the MotoGP paddock and the Sachsenring track. Gardner has been riding for the GYTR GRT Yamaha WorldSBK team since 2023, which means the seat stays within the Yamaha familiy.

The area of Chemnitz is known for its love of car and motorcycle racing. Originally, races in the area were held on closed public roads from the 1920s onward. The Sachsenring was built in 1996 for safety reasons. Two years later, the track hosted its first MotoGP event. The just 12m wide circuit has numerous tight corners (ten left, three right), making this circuit one of the slower tracks on the calendar, but there will still be plenty of action at the German GP.

MASSIMO MEREGALLI
Team Director

First of all, let me start by saying that the team is relieved that Álex’ surgery went well and that the injuries he sustained in the highside are not more serious. We all wish him a speedy recovery, and we hope to welcome him back soon.

Secondly, we are thankful to Remy Gardner and the GYTR GRT Yamaha WorldSBK team that he can join us at the Sachsenring on such short notice. We are sure that this will be an interesting experience for him, but the team will do everything we can to make him feel welcome and supported throughout this weekend’s steep learning curve.

The Sachsenring is quite peculiar: its narrow and has a lot of left-handers. It’s difficult to overtake there, so a place in Q2 is even more valuable here than usual. We expect that this will be challenging, but we are intending

FABIO QUARTARARO
Monster Energy Yamaha MotoGP Rider

The Dutch GP was tough. I expected the Race to go a bit better, especially at the beginning. Hopefully we can find some positives in the data and improve for the next weekend. In general, I don’t think that the Sachsenring is a good track for us, especially the second and third sector will be complicated, but we have to take the positives and try to get some data in order to keep improving.

I wish Álex a speedy recovery. I hope to see him back at the track soon.

ÁLEX RINS
Monster Energy Yamaha MotoGP Rider

The surgery went well, and I‘m heading home now. Unfortunately I‘ll miss the next GP, but I hope to be back very soon. Despite this bump in the road, our motivation to keep working is higher than ever.

REMY GARDNER
Monster Energy Yamaha MotoGP Replacement Rider

First of all, I hope Álex can have a fast recovery and I wish him the best.

I’m really excited about this challenge. I just want to say ‘Thank you so much’ to Yamaha for trusting me to ride this weekend. I will use it as a great experience to learn. It’s a new bike, and coming back to MotoGP for one race is always a nice experience, so I’m looking forward to enjoying this weekend, and I’m just extremely happy for this opportunity. Once again a big ‘Thank you’ to Yamaha.

ABOUT REMY GARDNER

Gardner enjoyed a successful career in the Grand Prix paddock, which began with three wildcard entries in the 2014 Moto3 World Championship. After completing his first full season the following year, the Australian impressed on his Moto2 debut as a replacement rider at Barcelona, which saw him retained for the remaining rounds in 2016.

The Aussie became a consistent points scorer in the championship over the next few seasons, and in 2019 he scored a breakthrough podium with a second place in Argentina. In 2020, he was one of the Moto2 standouts, celebrating four podiums including a stunning maiden victory at the Portimão finale from pole position, ending the season sixth in the standings.

In 2021, Gardner enjoyed several exceptional performances, winning five times and taking 12 podiums while he placed inside the top 10 in every race he finished. He was crowned the Moto2 World Champion at the Valencia finale before being promoted to the premier class for the 2022 season.

In his MotoGP rookie season, Gardner has demonstrated strong progression and a high level of determination, but he would make the switch to Superbikes in 2023 with the GYTR GRT Yamaha team.

It proved a tougher transition than the Aussie expected as he faced the challenge of learning not just a completely new style of bike, but new tyres, brakes and, in some cases, circuits too. Nevertheless, he persevered and made strong progress towards the end of the season – finishing an agonising few tenths from his first podium and able to see the winner cross the line ahead of him – in the final race of the year at Jerez.

Remaining with the team for 2024, Gardner was looking strong after an impressive campaign in preseason testing. He didn’t have to wait long for his first WorldSBK podium, which came at Round 3, Race 2, in Assen. He is now looking to build onto that success and is pushing towards securing his first WorldSBK victory.

Husqvarna Mobility Excited to Reveal New Generation TC 85 for 2025

Husqvarna Mobility Excited To Reveal New Generation Tc 85 For 2025New frame, improved engine, and multiple technical updates transform the popular small capacity machine.

For 2025, Husqvarna Mobility is pleased to announce a new generation TC 85 to underline its continued development of high-performance, two-stroke minicycles. The competition-focused machine is now built around an all-new chassis that offers significant improvements to handling and stability, while an updated engine boosts bottom to mid-range power. Further components introduced to improve the on-track experience for all young riders include the new WP shock, swingarm and ergonomic bodywork. Rounding out the changes, new graphics to match the full-size models create a modern and unified look for the class-leading TC 85.

With the previous generation model raced to victory in the 2023 FIM Junior Motocross World Championship, the new TC 85 is built upon proven foundations and beautifully crafted. For 2025, a new frame with refined geometry considerably improves handling and stability. Mirroring the construction of the full-size machines, the new WP XACT shock – which is 16 mm shorter than before to ensure a more balanced chassis – is mounted onto the upper frame tube. This design creates a more planted feel for the TC 85 and is a huge benefit on rough tracks and big jumps. Additionally, the steering head angle is reduced by a half degree and positioned six mm closer to the centre of the chassis for enhanced cornering, especially when exiting turns.

The 85 cc two-stroke engine benefits from several new components, all introduced to create stronger power in the low to mid-range without sacrificing top-end performance. The updates include a new cylinder head, spark plug, ignition and exhaust, with the settings inside the Keihin carburettor adjusted to suit the improved engine. Finally, when compared to the outgoing generation, the engine is rotated three degrees upwards at the front, and by pivoting from the same mounting point at the swingarm, the weight is distributed more effectively for improved cornering and jumping.

The swingarm itself is new and 300 grams lighter thanks to a refined casting process. Together, the new frame, WP XACT shock and swingarm combine to reduce the overall height of the TC 85. These changes, introduced alongside new ergonomic bodywork, ensure young riders can move around on the TC 85 much more easily, which inspires confidence and allows them to compete with improved control. In addition, a modernised rider triangle created by the new footrests, handlebars and lower seat further enhances the riding experience, making the new generation model incredibly effortless to ride.Husqvarna Mobility Excited To Reveal New Generation Tc 85 For 2025

  • New WP XACT rear shock with shorter travel – refines balance and stability
  • New bodywork – scaled down from the full-size machines with ergonomics to suit youth riders

The range includes high quality, competition-focused components for both the engine and chassis to further enhance the riding experience. Additionally, the Functional Offroad Apparel Collection features a comprehensive range of apparel designed to perform on track.
